Setting myself up to read I wanted to read this again and refresh events especially what had previously happened between Trey and Sadie. I enjoyed this just as much as I did the first time round and absolutely love this series!

May 2012

I had been eagerly awaiting this and wasn't disappointed when I read it. I really enjoyed the first in the series but enjoyed this more.

As well as action, sex/steam we also got romance. It tells of us the times when Emory fist met his mate Mary but realised that she was innocent and was too young (she was in college). Because he knew she was his mate he knew he had to be patient and wait but in the meantime he would look after and romance her until he found out that she was part of the Shepherd clan/family who hunted and killed those from shifter, vampires & mages/witches as they were believed to be spawned from the devil. Mary's family had found out who she was seeing and did their best to part them, Emory was shot and Mary was punished and hidden away. Once Emory found Mary he tried to explain who/what he was and that she was his mate but he was very patient and tried to be tender with her.

We get to catch up with Trey's (Alpha of the pack) mate again (we met her in the first book) and we also get to meet the Beta's mate but I can't wait to read the next in the series - hopefully it will be Trey's story.

Once again, Aline Hunter delivers. There's something about this author that just pushes all of my 'like' buttons. If you haven't read the first book in this series, this book contains minor spoilers in regards to Emory and Mary's roles and where they were at the book's ending.

We met Emory in , along with his then future mate Mary. Mary's family is a group of religious fanatics who think that shifters are 'from the debil' and therefore should be tortured and slowly killed...in other words, her family is evil. Since Mary doesn't share their views, (in fact she freed their captive shifters and ran away) they regard her as evil as well and are now on a mission to find her and redeem her soul. Emory knows that Mary is his mate. Without the bloodbonding that officially ties mates together, Emory is a shell of a man. His only thoughts are of finding Mary and showing her that being a shifter doesn't mean they can't be together. Mary needs protection from her radical family, and Emory sure knows how to protect!

One of my favorite things about shifter PNR is how the animal side of these men is so honest. There is no subterfuge with these guys. They don't hide who they are, and their inner beast won't let them deny their urges...heh heh. They find their mate...the WILL have her. Their mate in in danger, NOTHING will harm her. Their entire existence revolves around claiming their woman.

Mary has been beaten down by her horrible relatives...literally, her back has caning scars. So she is understandably timid. While the world of shifters is known to her, their way of life is still a relative mystery. She is shy of strangers already due to her on the run status for the last few months.

I love, love how Emory treats her like fragile glass. He sees how scared she is, he understands that the position she's in puts him in complete power over her. But instead of forcing her to accept her new life with him, he seduces her with gentleness and sweet words. All the while, his inner beast wants him to just...fuck her already!!! He's a fabulous contradiction of Gentleness and barely leashed power and God, it was HOT!!!

"He'd waited too long, damn it, and pushed the animal inside further than it would go. Christ, he was weaker than he'd thought. the urge to plant her ass up in the air, fuck her from behind and pin her in place with his teeth was almost more than he could stand."

And therein lies my fascination and lust for shifters. Oh, that carefully contained violence, the not-so-contained possession. Simply delicious, and Ms. Hunter writes the best sex scenes EVAH!!! When Mary finally accepts the bond that she has with Emory is real and lasting...whew! This chick lets GO and she likes it rough and tough and yummy and delicious. Emory....geez, this guy talks dirty. He likes to tell her exactly what he wants from her, what he's going to do to her, and what she feels like for him. Mmmmm....I love a guy who talks dirty!!

Diskant and Ava from Omega Mine play a pretty large role in this storyline, as well as Trevor, the werewolf pack alpha, and his vampire mate who will show up in the next book, Vampire Mine. At this point, they have had a slow burning romance, so I fully expect their story to be explosive. Another shifter also finds his mate during the showdown with the bad guys, so I'm assuming that they will also get their own face time somewhere in the future. I know I love a series when I get more and more excited to see new potential books being set up. With each couple introduced, I can see this series stretching a bit further, and I still feel like there is a lot left to be told. The world of Ms. Hunters isn't confined to shifters, and the edges of good and evil are blurred. Controversial vampire/shifter pairings are hopefully only the beginning!!

In memory of Oscar...the sweet, the loyal but never the ugly.

This is Emory and Mary's story and we had quite an interesting preview of them in the first book. Emory had left New York after a power struggle with Trey, the pack's Alpha and his brother. He moved to Colorado where he met his mate, Mary. The only problem is her last name is Shepherd, as in, part of the family Shepherd, the ones that hunt and kill shifters.

I was really looking forward to Emory and Mary's book but sadly, Enemy Mine was no friend of mine. Emory had all the workings of a bad boy, barely hanging on, almost losing control...but there was no sizzle. Mary was sweet and innocent and of course, a virgin...but she just gave in too easily. The problem for me is that 'the chase' was almost nonexistent. I thought all the bloodbonding happened way too fast. I just wish she would have run!

But that doesn't mean there wasn't hot sex because, of course, there was. There was just a lot of other stuff going on as well. I was almost more interested in Trey and Sadie, Nathan and Leigh and what looks like Cade and Andrea than Emory and Mary. And I felt sorry for the guys...they were all afflicted with 'bat' syndrome, from baseball bats to steel bats and even the random stalk. (bleh!)

The drama with the Shepherds was interesting but the problem with them is that they are like weeds...once you get rid of one, ten more pop up. I do like that they are all related so it makes things more personal but poor Mary!

Diskant and Ava helped spice things up too and there are great things going on with them and a lot of changes. I was really looking forward to the new place except now it's not so secret anymore. The scene with Oscar was really sad but I think Rocky will make a great addition.

It was wonderful how Sadie came after Trey and Leigh's powers are really intriguing. I can't wait to see how things work out in Enemy Mine.

I. LOVED. LOVED. LOVED this book.

I loved how Enemy Mine was not solely focused on the main characters. Emory and Mary. But incorporates the secondary characters to be developed for their own books at a later date. So you feel like you have already met......had the introductions.......said 'hello'......and had a bit of conversation, just to whet our appetites. Suddenly feeling very hungry!!!

There is still plenty of action and lovin.....Oh Aline you cetainly know how to portray those hotter than hot Alpha males.

From the last book Mary develops from an innocent young girl into a feisty young lady all as a result of the evil dealt her by her family (those nasty shepherds). Emory's consideration, concern and love for Mary was endearing throughout with the words and story flowing seamlessly between the Shifters and the Shepherds......coming to a conclusion all too soon!!! Which brings me to my only gripe;

I want MORE......now!! Not that I'm greedy or anything but how long till the next book? Trey and Sadie?........now that is one explosive match...how exciting.

My most intriguing character is Kinsley......can't wait to see where you are going with him....personally, i'd take him anywhere!!!

Great book, Great series:)

4 Hot Stars - a lot of steam, fun and sweet love - I love this shifter pack

I don't know if I was on a little bad mood when I read the first part , it only got 3.5 stars, rounded down to 3. Why I ask myself? This time, when I read part two, it felt as a very good series. Really enjoyed this story and I was happy and satisfied all the way.

This is a another hot mate-story; this time about Emory Veznor, a wolf shifter, and Mary Shepherd, a young human woman who grew up in a Colorado farm with the fanatical shifter hating group / society, called The Shepherds.

Right from the first book, we know that Mary is the woman Emory feels is life love and future mate. The first book ended up that Mary was on the run from her cruel uncle and his family. Emory has since he last, several months ago, met Mary, licking his wounds (in his heart) after their disastrous last meeting. What he feared was happening, the young and so innocent Mary responded with screams and panic as she realized what the attractive man she met at a cafe a few times could turn into, a very big wild wolf. Here, take this second book by.

Pretty soon, are the two MC's with the wolf-pack in New York. And the more fun it will be because they are staying in the same house as the love couple and MC's from book #1, Diskant and Ava. Another bedroom story begins, mixed with several other cute love stories and some speed and excitement. Not a slow minute - just to read on...

“Remember what I said about playing with fire?
“Yes. God, did she remember. she wanted to burn, to crumble like fresh, smoking ash in his arms. “Show me.

Wow, this is so hot but also so sweet and romantic. Emory is a great big strong but also a very sensitive hero. Mary is both scared but also so very brave and receptive. It's fast and within days are bonds tied for life. But now I'm not complaining, this is PNR and part of the charm with this genre, is that it may be slightly unrealistic and dramatic. I look forward to future books and the exciting future of some love stories that started or only hinted briefly here.

I LIKE - steaming hot and seductive

Nothing is going to stop Emory Veznor from getting to his mate Mary Shepard. Not even the fact that she is related to individuals that happen to be the enemies of his clan mates. At the end of book 1 in the series Omega Mine, Emory had discovered where Mary was being held and with some of his fellow shifters they head out to find her. For most of the book, Emory and Mary learn more about one another while dealing with the attraction that grows between the two of them. Because Mary is his mate, Emory is already a goner and now has the responsibility of introducing Mary into his life. She doesn't know a whole lot about his type of life and Emory is nothing but patient and understanding. He doesn't want to rush anything and has an internal struggle with himself to do this. He wants nothing more but to be with his mate and claim her. Mary has to take all of this information in and make a decision to whether this is something she wants to be a part of. All of her life she's heard nothing but bad things about shifters from her family. She gets to learn what they are truly about by spending time with Emory and realizes that her family is nothing but monsters for what they have done in the past. She's a little hesitant at first to give into her attraction to Emory and then realizes that he's the one thing that makes her feel safe and secure. It feels right to her and it's good that she can confide in another woman who has gone through the same thing. Diskant's mate Ava answers any questions that she may have about the shifters and the life that they lead.

While I enjoyed the first book in the series Omega Mine very much, I found that I enjoyed Enemy Mine more because the reader gets to know more about the secondary characters in the book. These secondary characters are so fascinating and bring so much to the clan and the series! What's great is that their stories haven't been told yet so there is going to be some great reading in the future. The one character I'm looking forward to reading the most is Trey who happens to be Alpha to the clan, who is extremely interesting. Aline Hunter gives us hints in this book as to where some of the future storylines will be headed. Once I started reading Enemy Mine I didn't want to put it down as the writing flowed effortlessly from one scene to the next. This is what I've come to expect from the writing of Aline Hunter aka JA Saare and once again she delivered. The only complaint I have is that I want the next book in the series right now so that I can read what happens to these characters that continue to entertain me.

I'm really enjoying this series! Can't wait for book 3 to come out --there were several possible couple development's hinted at in book 1 and book 2 so this series could go on for a while. I hope it does. I'm really enjoying the shifter world!

The story was a bit better in this book than the first one I thought, and I liked the H/h more in this book too. Seemed to have a bit more depth than Diskant and Ava did in the first book. Excited about the next book!

Here is my casting for Emory....

Here's what happened with this book. It started out fine and then reminded me of another Werewolf/shifter romance that I had read a while back. Now I'd really really enjoyed the other one - so I stopped reading 'Enemy Mine' and re-read that instead.

Afterwards, when I did come back to this one, I had a hard time engaging with the characters and wasn't really very impressed by the romance. There were too many romance stories in this one book. Though the story revolves around Emory the H and Mary the h; there were many other couples also featured in it and so, it was all very distracting. There was Trey and Sadie and Diksant and Ava, to name a few. For me, it's a deal breaker and I don't appreciate romances which feature more than one couple because I think it takes away from the main protagonists' story. So I can only give this two stars.

P.S.- about the other book - it was Kresley Cole's 'A Hunger Like No Other'. Probably my favourite Werewolf romance of all time. So if you have to read a shifter love story; read this one.

While I can't say I loved this one as much as it's predecessor 'Omega Mine', it was still pretty good. Hunter has definitely created an intriguing and complex paranormal world with strong characters and really excels at getting you emotionally invested in not just the main characters, but also those around them.

Emory, an alpha wolf-shifter with a deliciously angsty side, was a great hero and the care and concern he exhibited towards Mary was awesome. But I just couldn't connect with Mary - she was sweet and all, but her presence just didn't shine through IMO and I didn't think she was a challenging enough mate for Emory. It was all just too easy.

The real stars of 'Enemy Mine' were Trey and Sadie!! Can you say sexual tension??!! Trey has got his work cut out for him when he finally starts his active pursuit... and hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Can't wait!

Aline Hunter Has filled my weekend with happiness. I have read both of this series over this weekend, and now I am so distraught. Why? Because I don't have any more books from this wonderful world to read.

I had to give this one a slightly lower rating than as it wasn't quiet as good. I liked Ava more then Mary, and I couldn't choose between these hot shifters.

The background, continuing story has me engrossed, and I need more now. There is so many shifters just waiting to have their story told, and I want to read them all.

Please Ms Hunter, write Trey, Nathan and all the others stories and put them out so I can read them. You have made me love paranormal f/m romance stories again.

Oh yeah, you've gotta love hot and steamy shifter stories!!! We got a glimpse of Emory and Mary in the first book of this series and I loved the set up to their story.

Emory is a wolf shifter, and on his introduction in the last book, he is a complete mess and absolutely lost. He had met Mary, the woman that would be his mate, but lost her when they were confronted by her family and she fled from him after learning that he was a shifter. He returned to his brother and his wolf pack with his sanity hanging by a thread, but still determined to find Mary and claim her as his mate.

Mary was born into the Shepherds, a bunch of religious nutjobs who are out to rid the world of shifters who they consider to be demons. Her parents ran away from that world, but upon their deaths she was taken in by her zealot Uncle who tried to enforce his ways upon her. When she finally discovers the true nature of her family’s beliefs, she is sickened, and does all that she can to help shifters that have been captured by the Shepherds, and eventually, in fear for her life, she goes on the run.

With the Shepherds chasing her and the wolf pack gunning for the Shepherds in retaliation for a brutal attack, Emory is desperate to find his mate, and he manages to find her just in time to save her and whisk her back to his pack. And this is where Emory truly shines. Aware that Mary has had no exposure to his world at all, he is loving, patient and exceedingly gentle with her, protecting and defending her, and doing everything he can to convince her of his feelings for her.

“Mate? Is that what you mean? Is that what you want me to be?
“No, that’s not what I want you to be. She frowned and he corrected, “It’s what you
are. Mine. My mate.

Finally, she asked, “Is that shifter lingo for girlfriend?
He grinned at how perplexed she sounded. “No, angel eyes. It means you’re my other half. The woman I want to spend the rest of my life with.

Mary has long gotten over the shock of what Emory is, and although frightened of the new reality of her life, she feels the incredible connection to him and wants nothing more than to be with him. And how could she not? The guy adores her, he’s protective, he’s sexy as all hell, and then he comes out with statements like this

“I can’t change what I am but you have no reason to fear me or mine. None of us will ever hurt you—especially me. You’re as essential to me as the air I breathe. Without you, I’m nothing.

He lowered his voice and leaned in so his breath caressed her face. “I’ll give you everything I am. I swear it. If you trust me you’ll never have any reason to regret it. Start a life with me, Mary. Let’s leave the past behind and create a new future together. Fingers twined in the wet hair at her nape so that she had to tilt her chin to maintain eye contact. “Let me love you, angel eyes.

Oh holy God! Emory is full of swoon, and in true shifter fashion, things progress quickly and the sexy time is smoking! Emory can be beautifully gentle, but his inner wolf also gets a chance to take control, but however it is goddamn, it’s HOT!!

“Do you feel how good this is? Can you take what I want to give you?
Ummmm yes please!

Based on the last book, I wasn’t sure that I’d like Mary, but she’s not the sheltered innocent I thought she was going to be. Yeah, she’s scared and unsure, but her whole life has been turned upside down so that’s understandable. And I love that despite the fear of her family, and the guilt that she suffers for what they have done, she loves her man and lets herself fall into the crazy connection that they share.

“Yes there would be danger. But wasn’t that how things worked? Nothing was promised. People held on tight to the things they loved and cherished, enjoying the ride for as long as it lasted. There were no guarantees in life, only possibilities.

But her family refuse to let her go and are willing to go to extreme lengths to get her back, putting her new friends and loved ones in danger, and also bringing some action to the story. There is also some great progression for the couple from the first book Diskant and Ava, as well as things starting to brew for both Caden and Nathan (who I love), and of course, the storyline continues to progress (and things get even more complicated) for Trey and Sadie, and I can’t wait for their book next!

Aline Hunter has given us another story full of action, romance, sex and paranormal politics set against a fascinating world full of shifters, vampires and magic. I thought that this one packed more of an emotional punch than the first book, with a romance that I could get swept up in, and I loved it.

4 stars.

It is difficult to write a series in a paranormal world already chockful with shifters- Enemy Mine is a definite standout and shows great promise for the series in the future.

"None of us will ever hurt you—especially me. You’re as essential to me as the air I breathe. Without you, I’m nothing.

Emory & Mary's almost Capulet-Montague storyline was something that stood out even in the 1st book- goes without saying, I felt more invested in the book than its predecessor.

“Please. She had no idea what she was begging for as she squirmed beneath him.
“I’m going to. His lips drifted from her mouth, creating a path that wound down her chin and stopped at her throat. “I’m going to please you in so many ways, show you so many different things. I’m going to make you feel so good, sweetheart.

Emory is one hell of a memorable protagonist. In a world where a shifter's first instinct is to tell their potential human mates the many ways they want to bend them over and fuck them; he is considerate enough to court her in 'our' way- with coffee dates and quiet conversation. Alone in the world, he first offers her safety, his home and his family. In bed, he is as masterful and demanding as his instincts. Nothing like a man who knows how to talk dirty, such a dee-licious speciman..

"You're mine. You were mine the moment we met"

The author gives time for each parallel sidestory to take centerstage- there are definitely some intriguing pairings in the making for what seems to be a long continuing series. And ofcourse, we do meet some old favorites-

“She controls me, huh? Diskant purred and slid the hand resting on Ava’s shoulder down her back and placed it on her ass. “Is that what you told her, mate?
Ava cleared her throat and Emory saw her squirm against Diskant’s hand. “Drop to a knee and show Mary you’re as gentle as a kitten, Ava murmured thickly. “I’ll make it worth your while.
Just like that, the Omega was on his knees. He rubbed his chin on his mate’s arm and winked at Mary. “See? he said in a low timbre that Emory knew had everything to do with the sexual promise in Ava’s request. “Harmless as a newborn.

This is one series that doesn't rest on its past laurels. Now that the 'introducing a human to the shifter world' trope is over, Ms. Hunter builds their world with inspiring complexity- the different shifter tribes and their dynamic relationships, the power players of their world.

For all of us who couldn't wait to hear of Trey and his phantom lover, their story makes me anticipate great reading times in the future ^ ^

Last time we saw Mary, she was scared of what she learned of Emory in book 1. Now she's on the run from her crazy family. The pack needs to track her down and hope she willing goes with them back to NY for Emory's peace of mind and her own safety.

Emory is reinstating himself back in to his old pack which Diskant is the current Alpha of. He's staying with D and his mate Ava. The problem of the Shepherds are even more on the rise as Emory's mate is a relative to the main leader of this cultish group. D, Emory, Trey (Emory's brother), Nathan, Kinsley, and their newest pack member Cade, who is human, need to do all they can to secure the safety of the pack, their mates and find Mary to safely bring her back.

We also see that D is under a lot of pressure as Omega and Alpha of his pack. He had a special job request from the Villati he pawns off on Cade. D and Ava also have something else brewing and decisions that D needs to make in regards to safety of the pack and his number one priority, his family.

I thought Emory was a great alpha male who's also a gentleman unlike Diskant, who's the Neanderthal Omega from book 1. He's so good to his mate Mary with his caring, protectiveness, loving and tender ways.

I loved that Sadie, the vampire from book 1, is back and her role with Trey later in the book. I also loved that we were able to see some of her life and meet her sister. I loved the smart ass comments from Cade to Trey and D. I love how Kinsley, being a different animal shape-shifter, is very well liked & respected among the wolves and his loyalty to D and Trey.

I also liked that Nathan had an unexpected surprise which I think is going to be a blessing in disguise for Trey in the long run.

I look forward to reading Trey's book: Vampire Mine (Omega Mine #3).

I surely hope we see a book for Nathan, Kinsley and Cade.

I could still do with out all the crude stuff but felt this book was a lot better and the crude parts were toned down a lot.

Content: language and sexual situations.

I've just devoured this series the last two days and I loved it. I liked Mary a lot. She's a survivor but she's sweet and it was great to see the confidence that grew within her and within her relationship with Emory.

Emory was an alpha, not doubt about that. But he wasn't overly controlling and he always put her feelings and opinions first before he made decisions instead of just making decisions about their future by himself. It was heartwarming.

I love the involvement of the secondary characters and the focus the reader gets to have on them. Diskant and Ava are so good together and I was so happy when Ava released her news.

Let me tell you something... The female vampires rock. They totally kick ass. Sadie is awesome. I love her and Trey. But Trey really fucked up and he definitely has some grovelling to do. I'm very interested to see how their new predicament works out. Very curious to see Trey's reaction. I won't say what's happened or else its a tiny spoiler.

My heart went out to Nathan when he was revealed his longing and yearning for a mate of his own. And when Leigh came into the picture, I knew it was destined to be, I desperately hope we get their own book soon. Leigh is one extremely powerful chick. We may got to see a small extent of how truly powerful she is in this book.

I really hope Kinsley gets his own book and a mate of his own as well. I would love to get to know him better. The fact he's Scottish... *swoon* I'm also very curious to see what will happen about the Caden and his new mission. And who the mystery girl is!

I can foresee many books being in this series and I hope I'm right. It's a shame Trey and Sadie's book isn't released yet because I'm desperate for more of this series.

This was another great book in what is already a great shapeshifter series.

The romance and steamy moments were ever present, just like in Omega Mine, but this book had a softer feel to it.

Several new characters were introduced in this book, and I can't wait for the next story in the series to find out if it'll be about them!

YES!
Just as good as the first one!
Loved how the characters and story flowed.
The author did a great job of continuing the story from where the first book left off, and yet was able to develop the characters for the 'new' leads smoothly, without weakening the story.

I cannot wait to read Trey & Sadie's story!

I was disappointed with this sequel, I found several parts boring, including some about the main love story, but I’m still looking forward to read Trey a Sadie’s story.

This was a very good story. I liked both Mary and Emory and I thought this was a very good addition to the series. We get to see more of Ava and Diskant and see how things are progressing for them, which I was very happy with.

Mary Shepherd was raised by loving parents. She was happy growing up but did notice that her family moved a lot. When she was still a minor, Mary's parents were killed in a suspicious fire and she's sent to stay with her Uncle and other members of her family. The family was very religious but she was allowed to have a life and even go to college. That's where she meets Emory, the only man she's ever felt an attraction to.

Emory is a wolf shifter. He was having a hard time controlling his beast and left his pack in New York to travel. He ended up meeting Mary at her college and knew right off she was his mate. The problem is that her family, the Shepherds, are religious fanatics that try to kill all shifters. Emory isn't sure if Mary is involved in her family's actions or if she even knows so he doesn't tell her what he is and tries to get to know her and allow her to come to trust him. Unfortunately, before this happens Mary's family finds out about Emory and reveals his shifter nature to Mary before trying to kill him, forcing him to run for his life.

After being almost killed by Mary's family, Emory goes back to New York to regroup. The Shepherds ended up following him and causing much trouble and destruction for the shifters in New York. This ends up sending Emory, Trey (his brother) and some of the other shifters on a mission of revenge. They head to the compound they know Mary's family is at, intending to take out the Shepherds and try to save Mary (although Emory isn't sure if she'd welcome him or not as she was rather freaked when she saw him change). In the mean time, Mary's "family" has kept her captive and tried to brainwash her in to being sadistic killer like them (and beat her when it doesn't appear to be working). Mary ends up escaping (saving a captive shifter as she's leaving) and drives down to Florida. She discovers that her father had been part of the Shepherds but didn't want to be and when he met Mary's mother, they left and hid from the Shepherds. Mary soon realizes that her family probably killed her parents in the fire because of their "betrayal". Mary's parents left Mary a map and some money to help her stay away from the Shepherds and since the map outlines the locations of the other Shepherd's compounds it makes it easier for Mary to avoid areas inhabited by Shepherds. Mary finds an under-the-table job and a cheap (crappy) apartment and is working nights stocking a grocery store when the Shepherds find her. She tries to run and finds that the shifters are there too. Mary doesn't know who to trust or what to do and tries running from everyone. She's injured (and ends up passing out) just as Emory is able to get to her. Emory gets her to safety and get her injury taken care of.

Mary wakes up in New York and with Emory. She's happy to see Emory but isn't too sure how he'll feel about her since she freaked when she saw him change. She has realized that shifters aren't bad but knows they can be dangerous so she's understandably nervous. Emory soon gets her to realize he is happy to see her and wants her to stay there with him. The attraction that had been between them previously is still there and it soon becomes apparent that they both want to jump each other's bones. Unfortunately, Trey acts like a jerk and freaks Mary out by being threatening and when Diskant bursts in to break up the fight, he just ends up scaring Mary more. Emory is able to get Mary settled down but she's still very nervous about everything. Ava helps out as Mary gets settled in as she's a human that mated a shifter and can help Mary understand what to expect. Also, since Ava is able to read Mary's mind, she is able to put some of her fears to rest and head off trouble before it comes. This comes in helpful when Mary considers trying to leave because she's convinced that her being there will just put the shifters in more danger from her family. Emory is able to convince her that the shifters would be in danger whether she was there or not and if she leaves, he'll just track her down and bring her back so it's best just not to leave. Once Mary decides to stay, things progress pretty quickly between the 2 and they embrace it when they're not dealing with the Shepherds attacks (and also planning out a massive return attack). The drama isn't all because of the Shepherds either as some of the shifters aren't too hot on Mary because of her last name but by the end of the story, Mary has been accepted and the pack is working on being more secure (as there's still a danger from more Shepherds). Mary and Emory (and a new puppy named Rocky) settle in to their new home and plan their HEA.

This was a very good addition to the series. I liked Emory in the previous book and was curious about how things would work out with Mary being a Shepherd and I really liked the way it turned out. Emory was a good alpha male hero and Mary was nice and smart and made a good heroine. This book set up Trey's book with his mate Sadie and I can't wait to see how it turns out so I'm starting that book as soon as I finish this review. I'd recommend this book. Thumbs up. :)

* note - I listened to the audio version of this book and the narrator did a very good job.

Enemy Mine picks up right after the events of Omega Mine.
Emory is looking for Mary, while Trey is bent on the revenge against the savage attack by the Shepherds.

And Mary did escaped her family and she is now on the run, having no clue that Emory is looking for her.

You ran. That's what you did. Like a coward. And look what it got you. A drab life in a no name town doing something you hate. If he's not dead, he'll detest you. He told you he had secrets, things he wasn't ready to share. You were the one who wanted to know everything about him. The minute he showed you what he truly was, you lost it and turned your back on him.

Even when they find each other, and he takes her to NY, nothing is easy. The Shepherds don't give up, and are determined to set Mary as an example. No one leaves their flock.

When it comes to the Shepherds...

Seriously, they are DEMENTED!!!! And overall SICK BASTARDS!!

Ok, I seriously love this series.
Besides being HOT (and it's really HOT, you guys), it does have a great plot. From lunatics, to revenge, to star crossed lovers, to grieve, to retaliation and to acceptance...And well, I always fall for the "mate" story line, ahaha.

I can't wait for Trey and Sadie book...bloody hell, could they be more star-crossed lovers? In some scenes Sadie did broke my heart, loving at a distance, knowing he looked at her with disgust, while still sacrificing her own life. Then Trey, he can be a bit of an a**hole but he is finally seeing the light.

Also I would love a Nathan and a Kinsley (PLEASEEEEEEEEEEE)books!!

"That's not going to work, imp." He shook his head, feeling a smile tugging at his lips. Yep, he was definitely mated. When grow males started using cheesy endearments without giving a shit,it sealed the deal.

I'm not telling which character said this but it sure made me laugh like crazy :D

I don't know who this guy is, but HE'S MY EMORY!!!

description

I rarely post pictures of people in my reviews. These books from Ms. Hunter just totally make me go crazy that I just had to find a face for all that craziness.

There are shifter books, then there are HOT SHIFTER BOOKS .

This is one of them.

Not only is the story such a kickass (which I believe, can stand alone even without the hot scenes), the characters are also damn good. I love how each of the characters in this book has a role to play themselves. The other characters are active too in here. I mean, they're not just wallpapers to the main characters. They participated. Even Ava and Diskant had their own little scenes all throughout the novel.

Emory and Mary have a ROMEO & JULIET - ish relationship. Mary's a part of that friggin family who wants to destroy THE EVIL SHIFTERS in the name of all that's holy (yeah can you believe it?!). But of course, let's not get angry with Mary. She's just a smart, shy, young woman who didn't know a lot about the world she's living in at first. She didn't even know what her family was really doing until it was too late. Enter Emory, my tortured hero. Yeah, he's tortured because he thought that Mary was disgusted/afraid of him with the way she ran from him. He endured everything and he was able to get Mary back. They were able to resolve their problems. Everything was going well until those SHEPERDS came back and ruined it all over again. The only downside to this is that it had to end at a crucial moment. Almost everyone's finding their mates. I wanna see them all happy just like what I said for the first book!

It was all fun to read. I was clueless as to what'll happen next. I certainly didn't see what Trey's mate will do for him. I'm still unsure if the decision at the end of this book was a good one. I'm just hoping that it won't cause a lot of problems with the next book because I intend to have my fill of TREY.

I don't know why, but I feel like Trey's book is gonna be badass not just because of him, but because of his mate. I can't wait!

These types of book, I just need them to be hot, and this definitely was. It wasn’t a great book obviously, and not at all memorable but it certainly entertains. This is an okay shifter series, though it gets to a point where there’s really nothing to make you keep reading. I had to put in some effort to actually finish it, which I think says enough about the book. Pretty sure the only reason I kept reading was the heroes and the smut.

Wow...I didn't think that this series could get any better...I was wrong. Enemy Mine was such a great story and continued on from the ending of Omega Mine with Mary on the run from the Shepards and Emory desperately trying to find her.

I wasn't exactly sure how I felt about Emory in Omega Mine but I quickly grew to love him in this book. He was definitely swoon~worthy!! He was so sweet, caring, loving, protective, patient, understanding, and vulnerable when it came to Mary. He was also a bit of a dirty talker and definitely sexy. Oh...and the sex scenes...HOT....especially the one where he holds onto the headboard with one hand while holding onto her with his other hand!! *shivers* I just couldn't help but love his character. Mary was a great character also. She was so shy and sweet and had suffered so much. I loved her and Emory together.

I was so happy to read more about Diskant, Ava, Trey, Sadie, Nathan, Caden, and Kinsley. I am looking forward to their stories continuing through out the series. I cannot wait to read what happens next. There where a lot of changes and loose ends not exactly tied up by the end. I am anxiously waiting for Trey and Sadie's book next. Aline is definitely making Trey and Sadie work for their HEA!! lol I am hoping that Nathan and Leigh are focused on in Trey's book or get a book of their own. As well as Kinsley. Oh...and Zach...he needs a HEA. I also can't wait to see what happens with Caden. So good!!

Another AWESOME addition to and AWESOME series that has me totally hooked and wanting more. Definitely going into my keeper pile to be reread.

BEST OF THE BEST rating.

The beginning of Mary Shepherd and Emory Veznor's romance was discussed in and in that installment Emory and Mary had been separated and Mary was running from her relatives. In this sophomore effort, theoretically focused on the mating dance for Mary and Emory whose mating dance is once again smooth. However, the Shepherds are once again making trouble in the big apple and prove more than a nuisance for Emory and the fellas. In flexing his alpha muscles, Emory fulfills the promise show in the earlier book and pushes all the right buttons at the right times. Not to be outdone, both Trey & Caden get a little time in the spotlight and make the most of it. Trey and Sadie continue their flirtation started earlier and Caden is set to meet a new lady love to fill his empty spaces. Glimpses from characters that debuted in the earlier outing and became beloved quickly help to round out the story as they are either busy with the Emory or the Shepherd storylines. Mary and Emory were good together and Emory sparkled in the sensitivity scenes. Unfortunately, Mary didn't fare as well as she was limited
I liked this entry but not as well as the last. I didn't find myself invested immediately in these characters and feel that Mary and Emory should have been a short of their own or at least a story where they were not marginalized o the background. I'm looking forward to the next installment.
