This is a very simple and practical book, with clear, concise and direct instructions on how to being happy.
This is a 10 step process
1) taking charge of your own life. Let no one, and no one else should tell you what to do or how you should live your life. You must be in complete control of the steering wheel.
2) let it go: letting go of everything which has to be gone from our lives. It can be people, things, habits, jobs, or anything else hindering us from leading a fulfilling life
3) live for now: many people are unhappy as they keep pondering and thinking about what they wish to achieve, what they want in thee lives and thus, forgetting to live and enjoy in their present state of mind and lives.
4) expect the best: in this example, being optimistic is an utter understatement. Always expect the best to happen to you. When you tell urself that it would never happen, chances are that it won't happen. But on the bright side, if you tell urself it would happen, you would definitely stand a better chance, and being optimistic would in turn lead to happiness.
5) back yourself: you would have to stand up and back yourself up. Yes, true that it may or may not suffice. However, if even you're not willing to back yourself, what makes you think that others would back you up in times of needs. Even if the whole world goes against you, believe in yourself and stay true to your values, and don't forget to smile (:
6) get out of the way: there are stuff in our lives that we know are bad for us, people who are no good for us, and most importantly thoughts which are detrimental to us. We must find a way somehow, to get out of these vicious cycles.
7) be grateful: always be thankful for what you have, reflect on all the things which we posses, material or intangible assets, people in our lives that we're grateful for. Take some time in our lives, away from our busy schedules to take time to think back on whatever we have. And most importantly, do not compare with what others have that we don't, and vice versa. Owning something is a privilege, not a comparison.
8) give all you can: always give it your best shot. The feeling of knowing you tried your bestest is really the most awesome feeing you can ever have.
9) keep it up
10) be brave
Most importantly, being happy is not a privilege, it's something everyone deserves.

It’s a lot of common sense and cliches packed in one: the good old believe in yourself, have courage, be in the present teachings. It can serve as a light read for an afternoon. The author places too much emphasis on happiness and thinking positive; there seems to be no place for other emotions and thought patterns, which are equally important in the human sphere, but what did I expect when I picked up a book called “The Happiness Code?
Basically this book is a long, drawn out "Think positive!" Ten ways and with a lot more words. It's nice for little bits right before bed, but that's all its got.
'make choices that take you closer to the life you really want.' Valuable book. It gives many perspectives of enjoying life ☀. The 10 keys for a happy life are explain with examples and really strong arguments for each one. 'consider the design of your life as a critical contributor to the happiness in your life.' The author remove beliefs and add clarity on how to sustain and create a happy life. 'remind yourself that things are what they are.' Also, the book exposes phases of inner inspection: 'How do I hold myself back?'. As a conclusion, the book worths, it inspires and add some ideas to a better life 💡. 'Be there when you are there. Don't try to juggle all the roles in your life. Focus on the role you are playing and do it the best of your ability.'
Plenty of good, sound and sensible advice scattered with inspirational quotes. At the end (and the beginning) of the day, this is all common sense but we need to remind ourselves and each other because we all get caught up in the busy-ness of life and often lose our common sense along the way. This helps to break things down into easy to remember steps, to restructure. Happiness is already there, sometimes we just don't recognise it.
This feels targeted towards otherwise privileged people who are seeking out self-help, aka me 🥲
The tone is almost too flippant - probably definitely if you’re facing actual hardship. But if you’re looking for some pointers and healthy reminders, I found some good nuggets in the 10 keys. And the format is quick, succinct, and easy to consume.
I’ll be tempted to grab this from the library in future to flip through as a refresher.
Loved this book really helpful the happiness code I had never looked at happiness that way until reading this I will add one line to this review ‘Recognise the things you have control over and let go of all that you don’t . Definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to understand happiness to achieve and believe in yourself we all have the power.
Inspirational, helpful, and truly sensible, The Happiness Code really did inspire me to be the better version of myself. The book itself exudes an aura of happiness that helps its reader reach a point of happiness even in their darkest time.
Nothing mind-blowing or particularly new to me, but a good read to help remind oneself to reframe the way they look at the world to live a happier life - a nice little book to have around and go back to when needed!
I read this book at the right time...the keys to happiness might seem obvious, but do we really implement them in our day to day life? This book provided practical tips and thoughtful prompts that enable one to reflect on how to adopth a growth mindset.
The Happiness Code is a reminder about what's important in life, that you're in control of your own happiness and how to apply the ten keys to happiness every day.
thanks for my dear friend who gave me this book as christmas gift....very inspirational but kinda hard to apply in real situation.....but that's really subjective and i said that only from my own personal life and experience....hope everyone that read and join to read this book find the real happiness in their life....
This is inspirational book that can be read by all the students like me who just gave up about life. Mrs. Bertolucci tries to give the example in facing some daily problems in our entire life. It's not an easy to be read, I mean, we have to get the point by read it more than twice. There are some brilliant ideas in every single key to be happy. Enjoy it!
