Identical Differences

Rate this book
Alexia Patterson has spent her whole life waiting to get out of small town Longsville, Oregon. Her twin sister, Rachel, is a completely different story. When Rachel calls to tell Lexi that she’s engaged and asks her to come home for a few weeks before the wedding, Lexi is anything but eager to go back to Longsville. Add in Justin MacPherson, a guy she’s hated since junior high, and the two weeks are not looking good. Surely God’s plan isn’t to make Lexi insane, right?

All Alexia ever wanted to do was escape the small town she grew up in, so when her twin gets engaged, Alexia is happy for her but not so thrilled about coming back to the past she tried to leave behind. When she meets the best man, Justin, the guy she hated since junior high, Alexia is just ready for the festivities to be over, so she can escape back to her real life....before she realizes her heart never left.

This is a cute novella, but I never felt connected to the main character Alexia or understood her reasons for hating Justin. Erynn Mangum has written several of these novellas and was able to develop the characters well enough in the short story. However, Alexia has more layers that need more time development than just a novella. She's an intriguing character, but her change of heart felt rushed and her character stilted. In fact, I enjoyed her twin more than her and would have liked to read their story.

As usual, Mangum delivers a fun story with coffee, family dynamics, and spiritual truths. Although this isn't my favorite Mangum novella, it was a sweet read that would have been better as a full-length novel.

I liked the ending. The only part that I had a problem with was that Lexi was really mean to people in her past that messed up once or twice. She did change her out look later on in the story.

I loved Justin's character a lot.

I really enjoyed this book. I just wish there was more because I didn’t want to put it down. Once again she has written a great novella.

Just as sweet as her others! I admit it takes a bit to understand Alexia and her reasons for hating Justin. Especially when he's so nice to her when we meet him. But once I knew her story, I could see where things from our childhood can shape our opinions as adults, even if said opinions are wrong. And Alexia does come to realize how wrong she is thankfully. Because Justin is adorable! Watching these two together made me wish this story was full length because we only get a small glimpse of their beginning and I'd love to read more of their journey. :) My one small complaint is Rachel, Alexia's twin. She was a bit of a bridezilla at times and even though she and Alexia are great sisters, she still frustrated me a bit. I suppose I wished for a little more of an acknowledgement from her about too much focus on herself. But that's a very minor thing and overall I really enjoyed this book.

This is typical of Erynn Mangum's novellas. Lots of dialog between likable characters who joke with each other and by the end there is a very cute coupling. It's sweet, but not syrupy, and her sense of humor generally makes me laugh. Great for a light pick-me-up.

There is one minor thing that I want to mention only because it bugs me. I've read most of her books and unless I'm remembering wrong, there has been at least one scene in each of them where one character eats off another's fork, plate or in this case brownie. I don't think I'm in the minority to think that is gross. I'd really like to see one of her characters say, "No, thanks. I prefer my food without someone else's saliva."

Title: Identical Differences
Author: Erynn Mangum
Genre: Christian Romance, comedy
Rating: 5 stars
Identical Differences is short novella by Erynn Mangum. Just like with other books and novella’s that she writes you are laughing from the very beginning of the book. I enjoy Erynn’s novels. They are what I pick up when I need a good laugh and pick me up. Identical Differences is no different. I can’t wait till May 2013 when Erynn’s new book comes out. It’s the first book in a new series. Paige Torn by Erynn Mangum

This book is without a doubt my favorite book in Erynn Mangum's novella collection. Everything about it is wonderful. I love the story, the characters, the Christina content, the romance, the dialogue, the fact that it is perfectly clean, and everything else you can possibly love about a book. :D The only thing I don't like is how short it is! I want more! :D
I definitely recommend. I would give this ten stars if I could, but I'll settle for a five out of five. You should read this book! :D

Love love love all her books, my only complaint was that this one ended so fast, I think it needed about one more page extending the ending... Maybe she will tie a part 2 though, there is enough going on in this one for her to continue it!

Erynn Magnum is a fun author, but this was my least favorite book. The main character was not as likeable as I think she should have been, and the book ended too abruptly.
