I live in Northern Lower Michigan with my husband and our three adorable dogs. I enjoy the Great Lakes, anything outdoors, and a really strong cup of coffee. My love of fairy tales as a kid paved the way for me to create my own happily-ever-after stories. My passion grew in writing flawed characters who realize their need to trust God before they can trust each other.

Great book with a retired police K-9 cop and his dog
Ericka is finally moving on with her life after her husband of 25 years died last year. She is going to be a travelling nurse. Ben, a retired cop, and Atlas, his retired K-9 dog, are working with his son to build tiny houses like the one Ericka would like built. Ben and Ericka had been engaged many years ago, before she met her husband. As they work together on the tiny house, old feelings are resurfacing. But can they afford to start something when Ericka is bent on leaving?
The pace is leisurely ant the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with a character oriented storyline that has no action and only a few kisses. The characters are vibrant and endearing. The Christian values are an integral part of the story, making it even better. This is also apparently book 3 in the Second Chance Blessings series. I think I will have to check those out too! If you like slightly older main characters, a very intelligent and appealing K-9 and a lot of Christian values, then this is for you. Enjoy!
While I have only scratched the surface of this author’s book list, I have enjoyed everything I have read from her. Author Jenna Mindel crafts beautiful stories with heart, hope, and faith and this one definitely fits that description. Engaged long ago, Erica Laine and Ben Fisher get reacquainted when she purchases a tiny home for an upcoming trip from Ben’s son. The pace of the story was great and paved the way for a very realistic and heartwarming second chance romance. That the main characters were middle aged also caught my attention since this age demographic seems much less represented in inspirational books I have looked at. All of Erica and Ben’s life experiences richly contributed to their backstories and made the very satisfying conclusion all the more sweet. Highly recommend this faith-filled and uplifting book!
I received a complimentary copy from the author through a giveaway. A positive review was not required and these are my own and honest opinions.
I really enjoyed”Finding Their Way Back by Jenna Mindel. This was my first time reading her one of her books. I liked the way she addressed the characters and how they dealt with their histories together and apart, how much their experiences had changed each of them. They were high school sweethearts who split up. Ben is divorced and struggling to deal with hard experiences as a cop and has no faith in God. Erica is planning to work as a traveling nurse after selling the home filled with memories of her caring for her husband for 4 years post stroke. She found a relationship with God as she dealt with his disabilities and death. It was interesting watching as they work together and with Ben’s son Jason to complete a tiny home for Erica to live in.
Jenna Mindel is definitely one of my favorite "Love Inspired" authors. This book was really good and the series is nice because each one is a stand-alone story.
From the back: "A second chance at love, but will history repeat itself? Jenna Mindel writes a heartwarming second chance story. She has believable characters and storyline. I fell in love with Ben’s retired K-9 dog, Atlas! (“Attie) Erica Laine broke Ben Fisher’s heart when she married someone else. Twenty- eight years later, Erica is widowed and Ben is divorced. Ben just returned home to Pine, Michigan and Erica is planning to leave Pine, as a traveling nurse. Can they overcome their past?
This is a great story it shows the difference way’s people deal with grief and how some try to hold everything in. The characters are the story line is good and it is a great read and of course the dogs are wonderful.
I really enjoyed this book about Erica Laine and Ben Fisher. Twenty-eight years ago they were engaged to be married. Erica broke Ben's heart. After decades apart they're thrown together to work on a tiny home Erica needs to be a travel nurse. Can they have a second chance.
A great story of a 2nd chance, new faith & some healing. Both characters are close to 50. Both have 2 young adult kids. One is retired, one is about to start a new contract, and one is widowed. A great story!
