Beginning CSS Web Development: From Novice to Professional

Rate this book
There are many books available on CSS, but this one is different it wastes less time discussing theory, and gets straight to the practical learning, quickly giving readers what they need to know. In addition, it is completely up to date, covering the most modern CSS standards and design techniques. Beyond the CSS essentials, advanced techniques are covered, including accessibility, hacks and filters. The book concludes with a case study, and a CSS reference section to allow the reader to look up required syntax in seconds.

If you buy this book with the idea of learning CSS, it will likely be the smartest $34.99 plus tax, shipping and handling you'll spend this year. The only commonition I provide is that the author is British with the typically dry, understated British diction. When Simon advises you get a cup of tea before beginning the next chapter, do as you like, but I recommend you plan for two fingers of rye that evening.

Though this book is kinda outdated, I really enjoyed reading it. This is the first book I read and finish on CSS after a series of articles on different sources on the web. It tackled a few things I never came across. I would recommend it for anyone starting CSS from scratch. I should find something more advanced now to read!

This is not the most readable book, and sometimes the order in which concepts are introduced doesn't make sense. That being said, it is a pretty solid start to jumping into CSS.

Took me a week or so to get through it, and I had a new site designed and running in a couple of days.

i've been working on this one for a while, not the most stimulating book i have ever read, but it has been helping me learn to do CSS pretty well.
