Aislinn Flaherty makes her home at a mental hospital. She’s not mentally ill, but after a traumatic childhood event, the hospital is where her family puts her. Permanently. But when scary paranormal things come out to stalk the residents, she starts hunting.
Charon is an Ancient, a vampire who must drink human blood. His role as a Hunter makes him, and his fellow Hunters, the equivalent of the paranormal Special Forces. He spends his days sleeping and his nights hunting the things that lurk in the darkness.
When Aislinn ends up in Charon’s world, it’s not something either of them wants. But sometimes, what you think you want and what you need are two totally different things.
Gwendolyn Cease has been writing ever since she was old enough to pick up a pen. From the very beginning, her stories involved handsome heroes, tough heroines, and happily ever after. Even as she slogged through her undergraduate and finally master's in education, writing remained a top priority. Though she now teaches elementary school, she still makes time for her characters and their never-ending adventures. Currently, Gwendolyn lives in Kentucky with her three incredibly spoiled cats and one yellow Lab, who somehow thinks she's a cat. If you'd like to contact her she'd love to hear from you. She loves to hear from anyone who enjoys a good book, especially the ones she's written.
I will make this brief. This was better written than the first book. Better world building (telling us many of the things I wish we had learned in the first book) and character development. The author improved greatly! Unfortunately, I just did not like the H/h as much. The hero was totally in denial until pretty late in the book. The heroine was a naive Virgin (hero had women - not sure if that makes him a whore). I just did notnireally connect to them. But loved catching up with Talon and Joelle!
Another enjoyable MF vampire fantasy by Gwendolyn Cease. These books are nice and fluffy reads, low angst, very entertaining, perfect to read between more emotional taxing books. Looking forward to book 3
Re-read July 2013. I wish Gwendolyn Cease would release another book in this series. These stories left me feeling like I had read a feel good book :) despite the fact that we have still not got a resolution to the issues introduced in the first book and continued in this one. The sweet but quick romance between Charon and Aislinn is enjoyable to read.
Great read. I read this book first before I figured out that this was part of a series. I then had to go back and read the first and then reread this. It is all good because I really enjoyed these books.
I loved the book and I completely adore the series but they end too abruptly and it is the ONLY reason for the four stars because I truly love the characters and building the other secondaries. I anticipate the next in this series!!!
This feels like it was hurried in the end. I feel there should have been a little more added to it. Not the best, but still a decent second installment.
