Discover what really happened in the final days of the doomed planet from the eyes of Sandor—who would go on to become the reluctant Cêpan to Number Nine.
Before Number Four and the others arrived on Earth, they lived on the planet Lorien. A planet filled with others who also had extraordinary abilities. A peaceful planet––until the day the Mogadorians attacked, and nearly annihilated, the Loric people.
Only a handful of Loric survived the battle. This is Sandor’s story.
Sandor was tired of being a teenager, tired of going to school and obeying his teachers and playing by his parents' rules. He enjoyed breaking the rules rather than following them. But when he makes one mistake too many, Sandor's life takes an unexpected turn, and he is forced join the Lorien Defense Academy.
Sandor had never believed in the crazy idea that Lorien needed to defend itself—Lorien was a peaceful planet, with no apparent enemies. But when Mogadorians suddenly attack, Sandor learns how real that threat was. Now Sandor is one of only a handful of Loric left alive, and the fate of Lorien is in their hands.
So much story in 160ish pages. We finally get a look into this "perfect" planet, that I think in other literary imaginations may have been ripe for a dystopian YA novel. Regardless, you see how some find it perfect and how the narrator (Sandor!) finds it frustrating. You see a rebellious teen turn into a mentor. Even though you know how it ends if you've read any of the series books (or just considered the title of the novella), this little story made me genuinely sad. Sad for the destruction of Lorien, for the mentor that was supposed to be on the plane, for the love story with Devektra that never was, for the Cepans/Gardes that we know aren't going to make it once they get to Earth, and for all the Lorien people left behind. There were also tidbits I wondered about: 1)Where was #10? 2)Did we know Henri was Brandon? 3)What happened to Pittacus? We did see him in Marina's story... 4)Are they really letting a 15-year-old be responsible for the fate of the entire Lorien race? All these questions. Maybe they'll be answered when the Fall of Five arrives in the next few days!

I'm a fan of the Lorien Legacies, and I think anyone who reads this series wants to know how the initial invasion started on the planet Lorien. The Last Days of Lorien sheds some light into that situation, but I was still wondering how "Pittacus Lore" would pull it off. And of course, he pulled it off brilliantly, which was no surprise. I felt really happy when I learned that the perspective was from Sandor's, Nine's Cepan. I'd always thought that Sandor was the most capable Cepan, seeing how he managed to keep himself and his Garde safe for a much longer time than the others. It was interesting to read about his history; it explained a lot about why he was so good at technology and stuff. There were some interesting revelations as well. I was a bit annoyed at the beginning of the book; it emphasized how tragedy usually struck when people least expect it to. Things picked up a little more toward the middle, and that was good. I had a hard time deciding on the point of Devektra's character. Her character development seemed not to be enough, and she strangely reminded me of the female protagonists from John Green's books, particularly Alaska Young in Looking for Alaska. I loved the scenes between Sandor and Nine; they were adorable. Oh and I was particularly impressed when I learned that Sandor wasn't meant to be a Cepan in the first place. He did a great job even with that being the case. This book had less action than the others, and of course the ending was inevitable, but effective nonetheless. All in all, a really good read. :)
Sandor wasn't the most engaging narrator, and once again I thought the romance was kind of choppy and awkward. But it was still interesting to read about the Last Days of Lorien; I do wish there was a little more detail about how the last day went down, but Sandor's backstory was interesting too and of course I love Nine, so...
To begin with I love whole Lorien Legacies series. And what is sad that's the last book I'm able to read in my native language becouse the rest of them will not be translated. Of course I will be trying to get them in English but it is not so easy. And that's propably why I didn't want to have this book finished. Anyway now I did and it was as great as I expected.
I liked Sandor no matter what was the 'owful' thing he did. I think story of Last Days of Lorien couldn't be told in better way. I also liked little Number Nine. He was so cute. The book was not so long and I don't want to spoil to you so I think I'll end my review in this moment.
This book reminded me again why I love Lorien Legacies and the spin-off series Lorien Legacies: The Lost Files. The Last Days of Lorien showed insight on how it was like to live in the Planet Lorien before the Mogadorians attacked. What's more interesting is that the story's told from a Cepan's point of view.
The main character, Sandor, is not totally likeable. He's a rebel, but a genius rebel at that. He contradicts almost everything and enjoys breaking the rules. While I don't really see the point of him doing all this ruckus, I can't help but admire his skills. He's smart and resourceful. He's not perfect, but his character is very realistic that I know a lot of people would connect with him. He has redeeming qualities, though. Especially when he saved a life and reluctantly stepped up to the responsibility of being a Mentor Cepan.
The world-building is superb. The amount of effort that the author put into building this fantasy planet is amazing. Everything is detailed and well thought out. It's easy to visualize the places and situations because they are carefully described without being too overwhelming.
Personally, I would have preferred a little more action but since the story spans from before the invasion took place, it's understandable that the conflict is written towards the end. The pacing is okay; I hardly remember any dull moments while reading so I know I really enjoyed it. The Last Days of Lorien is a short and quick read, but enjoyable nevertheless. It makes waiting for The Fall of Five almost bearable. ^_^
The official description for the next book in Lorien Legacies: The Lost Files, The Forgotten Ones is out! Read it .
Although the writing is not very good, I absolutely love Sandor and Nine; they are the best team in the whole series! (ӦvӦ。) Nine as a kid is adorable. Wish I could get more of him 💔
I am so glad the author wrote these extra short stories to fill in the blanks between books. After reading each one it helps me understand some of the events in the I Am Number Four series. This one was amazing I loved Sandor instantly. I enjoyed reading from his point of view and seeing what it was like on Lorien before it was destroyed.
Really enjoyed this novella. I love the similarities you can see in this book between young Sandor and the later grown-up Nine and that Sandor felt as out of place on Lorien as Nine later felt on Earth. What a great POV to describe the last Days of Lorien in!
I've been wondering for a while: "When will I finally give 5 stars for a book?" -Here you go.

This book was amazing. When I read the title, I feared that it might be boring or cheesy but it was everything but it. The plot focused on Sandor and his life on Lorien, his views on the prophecy that one day unexpected the planet will be destroyed and how he thought that this was just a hoax and it wouldn't happen (not in his lifetime), how he became an engineering apprentice at the Lorien Defence Academy (LDA), how he met Devektra (another garde, the singer who could read minds) and how he ended up being a garde. It's interesting how Sandor's personality wants to rebel against the "perfection" on Lorien. He looks at it quite ironically. The (non-)existing connection between Sandor and Devektra adds a nice touch to the story. Luckily, no usual love story but there was something. Also, I fell in love with the little Nine (again). In general this is a story how a complete non-believer and rebel turns into a believer but doesn't lose himself completely in the process.
I think this might be my favourite of the short stories released so far! I loved reading about Lorien and hearing a cerpan telling their story! I don't mind the wait between each full book as we keep getting these short stories between they make the waiting a little more bearable!
Omg my favorite novella of this series so far!! I loved this backstory on Sandor!! And i loved actually getting to see some everyday life on Lorien!! Omg I was totally right in my prediction with Sandor and the Garde kid it showed! And the story on how that came about...🤯🤯
Sandor was my fav character's, Nine, Cêpan so that pretty much made him my fav Cêpan by default lol.
Fav quote: "Scan through one of their history books and you'll see it's all just one pointless war after another. It's like, 'Earthlings, you idiots, get it together'"

Me he encantado.
The story of a young Sandor who would later become Nine's Cepan.
Sandor is a rebellious teenager who constantly breaks the rules and his latest punishment completely changes his life.
Being an arrogant and surly teenager, Sandor wasn't a character I liked for a big part of the story, but towards the end he redeems himself. Considering his start as a Cepan and knowing how his story ends, he did a pretty good job with Nine.
It was interesting getting a bit of insight into the Cepans' background, Lorien and how Legacies shaped their world.
follows with the next part of Adam's adventures and I'm looking forward to reading it!
This I think is the one novella in this series that I have rated at four stars so far. I did this because it was terribly hard to follow and confused the heck out of me. I do realize that the point of view that it featured didn't know everything, but I would have really liked to have known more about what was going on. It was interesting though to see how Loric culture was like and how the people were very oblivious to any danger that they ma be in. It was also interesting to see how Sandor knows all that he knows about technology and how he became Nine's Cepan. Finally, the revelation in the end that Henri and Brandon were the same person was cool. I couldn't really make those two character's one in my mind, but I think knowing this background tidbit about him was nice to know. One last thing that I enjoyed about it was seeing just a little bit about what it was like on the spaceship for all of them.
Once again, the I am Number Four series does not fail to disappoint for a quick and entertaining read. As usual, the only issue I have with these books is that when I get to the end I want more. Writing is excellent, the characters engaging (some are engaging in the way that I want to reach into the pages and punch them). For such a simple premise, the store is really well executed. Highly recommended.
