Hello, my name is Jamie Baker—and I am not a superhero. I I am not a superhero. Sure, I may have more in common with your friendly neighborhood Spiderman than, say, anyone else on the entire planet, but having superpowers doesn’t make you a hero. Superheroes use their powers for the good of mankind. I only use mine to score excellent takeout and eavesdrop on entertaining conversations. Bestselling young adult romance author Kelly Oram is back with the second book in the Jamie Baker series! Jamie Baker, the only girl in the world with superpowers, has now accepted who she is and learned to control her power. Not to mention she has the best boyfriend on the planet. Life is finally looking good. But the day she witnesses an accident and decides not to save the guy out of fear of being exposed, she realizes that simply being Jamie Baker isn't enough. After seeing Jamie so wrecked with guilt, the ever-helpful Ryan Miller decides it's time to make all of his fantasies about turning his girlfriend into an honest-to-goodness superhero become a reality. Of course, coming up with a decent Super Name and fending off all of Ryan's attempts to get her into spandex aren't the only problems Jamie faces. The more her alter ego starts to make headlines, the harder it becomes for Jamie to hide her extracurricular activities from her best friend, the government, radical scientists, and the mysterious new guy who is determined to steal her from her boyfriend.
Kelly Oram wrote her first novel at age fifteen–a fan fiction about her favorite music group, The Backstreet Boys, for which family and friends still tease her. She's obsessed with reading, talks way too much, and loves to eat frosting by the spoonful. She lives outside of Phoenix, Arizona with her husband and four children.
OH, C'MON! LOVE TRIANGLE?!! THIS IS JUST STRESSFUL! IT JUST NOT!
RYAN MILLER IS THE ONLY GUY IN MY LIVE, AND IN THE JAMIE'S LIVE. THE NEW HOT GUY? HAHA NO. RYAN MILLER IS THE HOT GUY. HE'S THE COOL GUY, THE SWEET GUY, AND THE ONLY GUY.
AND THE ONLY LOVE IN THIS BOOK IS RYAN AND JAMIE. NO MORE! NO OTHER GUY! NO LOVE TRIANGLE!
OH, C'MON, KELLY! JUST NO. I'M GONNA CRYING, WOMAN.
Ok, ok.. keep calm and RYAN MILLER FOREVER. Ok, I'm waiting.. I'm waiting so so so eager.
First of all, let me just say that I love Being Jamie Baker. It's one of my favorite books for life. When I heard that it's going to be a trilogy, I was stoked. I stopped eating and counted the days. I even went out every Thursday to celebrate Jamie's second chance at life. Yeaaah. I was the sappiest fangirl for months. But after finally reading this... I...
Well...
I think... Maybe this is just a test. Maybe... just maybe... And I must have been Voldemort in my past life to deserve a test as cruel as this one.
EXPECTATIONS
REALITY
Jamie and Ryan had the perfect HEA in book one. What happened? Book 1 was this cute, fluffy, fun, and action-packed story. Book 2 on the other hand, was much darker. I want it to be a positive mark, like in or , but it wasn't. It was darker in the sense that it was muuuuuuuuuch focused on the DRAMA between the characters. It felt a bit soap opera-ish!
It's sad that all the wonder and surprise of the first book is gone now.
THE THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE:
1. Jamie
Yup. You read it right. I didn't like Jamie. Jamie, a kick-ass heroine who we all came to adore when she was being herself, turned out to be as stupid as a cucumber more and more as this book progresses. Especially when you get to her scenes with the new guy. I was screaming, "use your brain girl!" the whole time. What a pathetic excuse for a heroine. Major meeeeh.
2. Jamie's Relationship with Ryan
I don't know about you, but I think even though we've already established Jamie and Ryan's chemistry in book 1, doesn't mean we can totally ignore it now. Or the lack of it, thereof. Because that's exactly how it felt. They. Didn't. Have. Chemistry. In. This. Book. I too, am shocked but it's true. They used to ooze with connection, now, their relationship fell flat. All they did here was make-out.
I get that being in a relationship is great especially for this 2 kids, but they have become one of those insufferable couples who no one ever wants to be around with. Jamie and Ryan are both fine on their own as people. Jamie has superpowers, while Ryan is Ryan. Coooool. I get it. But then they got together and somehow form this relationship that's nauseating to everyone else who has to be around them. Look, I don’t care what you do in private, but can you please stop eating each other’s faces right in front of me, you PDA sluts!
I don't know. Maybe I'm one of those people who like the chase more than the actual catch. And now that they have each other, I'm bored.
3. Ryan
Ryan lost his spark. He seemed like a cardboard cut-out of what's supposed to be a cool hero as opposed to being the actual hero himself. He felt generic. I think his screentime that was spent making-out with Jamie was the problem. We didn't get to see more of his personality because of it, just his kissing prowess. Which counted for nothing, by the way, since we've been there done that in book 1.
4. The Best Friend Thing
I mean, I know Jamie and Becky went through the same thing but you just can't assign someone as your "best friend". This isn't kindergarten. I'd settle with the term friend but I can't always have what I want, can I?
5. Mike
The thing with Mike was uberly dramatic.
6. The New Guy
Dear New Guy,
7. The Ending
I didn't like this book. I was ready to mark it as DNF but I'm too invested in the characters, thanks to book 1, to not know the ending.
And after reading the ending, I was like:
WHHHHYYY?
Seriously.
1 star. I gave this book a star after much thought. I originally gave it a 3, but I realized that I need to be honest with myself and just because I loved the first one doesn't mean I have to like this one as well. So a star just because I did not like it. I didn't like it. I didn't like the ride. I'm surprised the ending still affected me. It affected me. Big time.
It's not so much as a painfully beautiful ending. It's a what-else-could-go-wrong ending. And seriously, what else could go wrong? What else? Uhm... how about EVERYTHING?!
I can't. I just can't. ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
It's finally here!! It's up on Amazon a day early. If you can't find it on B&N don't worry, it's not supposed to be out until tomorrow. It should be there on time. :)
WTH?! WHAT DID I JUST READ? I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED TO JAMIE AT THE END OF THE BOOK. GAHHHH IT FRUSTRATES THE LIFE OUT OF ME. OOH AND FOR TEDDY THE LITTLE PSYCHOTIC BASTARD, I KNEW FROM THE START THAT HE WAS THE BIG TROUBLE. I JUST HOPE IN THE THIRD BOOK RYAN WILL KICK HIS ASS

I want to rage and rail against the ending of this book. Oram took an interesting plot line and ended it in the most overwhelmingly abhorrent way possible. As much as I enjoyed the first two books in this series (sans the end of this one), I don't think I'll be reading the conclusion to Jamie Baker's story. It has been ruined, I say! Ruined!
SPOILERS BELOW
I used to think there was nothing worse than an amnesia plot, but I was wrong. Meet the new Most Terrible Plot Device in the Universe: Amnesia with the villain pretending to be the hero and reducing the previously strong female lead to a sniveling pile of stupidity. Enter book three in this now-debased trilogy.
I just don't think I can bring myself to read a book where the character I used to like has amnesia, which allows her stalker to take advantage of her for two hundred pages until she sees her true love and magically regains her memories. No thanks, Kelly Oram.

*Spoilers ahead* I HATE Teddy. The lying cheating betraying little scumbag that he is. How could he do that??. Aargh!
Kelly Oram's books are quickly becoming my favourites. The ending was unexpected and the story progressed marvelously. You love Ryan more than ever and Jamie's character has become infinitely more likeable than the last book ( not that Jamie was bad or anything in the previous book but I sure didn't like the way she treated Ryan in the beginning). In fact, you even start liking Carter a little bit. This book will leave you salivating for the next book. Seriously I can't. wait.
WTF Teddy!!!!! i can say that i was shocked by how this ended. i didn't think this book comes with a sequel (or should i say Jamie Baker book3?) Well, Teddy came out as a shock and i love Ryan to death. i don't think i can take anymore of this...arrrg! but i guess more revelations about Jamie's power will be explained in the next book.
This review was first posted on , if you want to see more reviews please .
I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of More Than Jamie Baker from Kelly Oram in exchange for an honest review shortly after its release, this will in no way effect my opinion on the book!
Don't you just hate second book syndrome? I surely do, especially after the first book has been so spectacular and you have all these high hopes on how much its set up for the sequel and then bam a bucket of water is poured over you washing away all the hopes and dreams you had for the characters whilst you slowly make progress through the follow up novel.
Well fear not.
More Than Jamie Baker is NOT like this at all. Its completely the opposite!
College has its ups and downs for everyone, but when you add in super powers and the surprise confrontation of Mike when you're busy trying to find a cutie for Becky she can feel comfortable with, it is only going to get worse what with Mike being so incredibly drunk he stumbles out into the road and is about to get hit by a truck.
What would you do if you had the abilities Jamie does? With all those witnesses?
Its a tough decision for anyone to make, and Jamie does the only thing she can to protect those she cares for most. Nothing.
Doing nothing is great for keeping her secret hidden, for keeping herself, family and friends away from the scientists that would want to run tests on her. But not so great for Mike though, no he's in a coma with plenty of broken bones.
But its also not great for Jamie because she's full of guilt for knowing she could have saved him and feels selfish for not, I mean who wouldn't feel like this?
This is where being more than Jamie Baker comes in, the only way she can help ease the guilt she feels is to start helping others in need and soon becomes known as "Chelsea's's Angel" after saving a little girl. It doesn't end badly in any way.
Okay later on theres a mad man wanting to hold "Chelsea's Angel" accountable for not saving his son but its a great way to introduce Jamie and the police working together, or not so together to bring this man down.
If running a double life isn't hard enough at college, she also has to make sure not to slip up seeing as though she's possibly being stalked by a few different people, is it her over reactive imagination or are these the science guys Carter warned her about?
And can Teddy be as trusted as she wants him to be?
(Oooh and now you're wandering who's Teddy and how much harm could a cuddley Italian toy bring? Its difficult to talk about Teddy at all seeing as though we don't find out a lot about him in one go, we get to know him slowly throughout the book and he's a great character, perfect for Becky in most ways and protective over Jamie. But how protective is too protective?)
I feel like I could talk all day about all the little things I loved about this book but I think mostly I loved the ending, I loved how I was genuinely surprised with the last few pages and how the last few chapters opened up so much more of the world Jamie lives in.
I look forward to the final in the trilogy, and I love the current working title. It fits perfectly.
(Also I like how the title can work in two ways but I guess I can't talk about that until then).
Can I squee to illustrate just how much love I have for this series?
“If I could help the Ice Queen solve her problems, then I can certainly help Jamie Baker.
I don't know why I stayed away from this series, how did I manage to? It's pure sweet milk-chocolate that you devour in seconds and then only think about consequences lol
“J²¹³¾¾±±ð.â€ Ryan’s voice was suddenly low and steady. He sat up so that he could look straight into my eyes. “How many times do I have to tell you, you are my life. College, playing football, my friends, my future…I’ll gladly give it all up. I don’t even have to think about it because none of it would matter if I didn’t have you.â€
This book made me frustrated, really annoyed, I hated Teddy from the beginning. And I loved Mike from the very beginning. Does this make you a bad person? Maybe, but I know how to forgive and he definitely deserved it... While Teddy for causing so much trouble certainly needs to be fried!!!
“You’ll come back to me, he whispered. “You will, Ryan insisted. “And if you take too long I will come looking for you. I’m not letting you go forever, Jamie. I am not saying good-bye.
How much I cried for them inside....
“Love you, Sunshine.
I mean it's fucking RYAN MILLER, when he says something he does it, he means it, and you can't just replace him, you hear me Teddy, she is going to kill you, after Ryan kicks your ass to the moon and back!!!!
Some things were worth the risk. The love Ryan and I shared was worth the danger.
I am 100% jealous of this relationship, yeah it might be a cliche romance, but Ryan Miller is definitely not a cliche, what I love about the series, that she didn't even hesitate for minute, since she knew, that Ryan Miller, might be a human, but he is not an average one!! He is so much more than superhuman, especially that bastard Teddy...
I also knew that I was not leaving without him. Ryan was mine as much as I was his, and I was taking him back.
The surprise-surprise here actually surprised me lol Isn't it too soon??? But I mean wth, they were definitely going to end up together, like Ryan said, and he is right, always.
He planned on never letting go of me again, and I planned on letting him hang on.
I just love this couple, their connection, their understanding. I have to admit, Jamie made me want to punch her to the universe sometimes, since Ryan told him so many times don't trust Teddy!!! Moreover, after Teddy's attempts to break them apart so many times, and kind of like insulting Ryan how can she still sit and laugh with him is above my understanding.
What Can I Say? Kelly Oram is a Genius! Again--She put her spell into this AHMAZING SERIES!
This one is funnier, better, crazier, sadder, and FANTASTIC (er) than before!!!
If I fell for Ryan Miller before, now I'm sure as hell I just love him to die. Nah, I'm not overacting. Sorry, it's true. Ryan Miller just stole my heart.
How can you not drool over when Ryan said this?
“J²¹³¾¾±±ð.â€ Ryan’s voice was suddenly low and steady. He sat up so that he could look straight into my eyes. “How many times do I have to tell you, youÌýareÌýmy life. College, playing football, my friends, my future…I’ll gladly give it all up. I don’t even have to think about it because none of it would matter if I didn’t have you.'
Oh Heaven! I feel like fly to the belly sky now! I'm smiling like a fool. Why is book (especially, Kelly Oram's) always AHMAZING?!
Well, the ending is a cliffhanger (UGH!). But I'm anticipated it by read the little spoiler tough (hoho) so I won't get shocked (I hate having heart attack issues ahem..stolen, ahemm). But I couldn't help to like Teddy. I don't hate him. Even if he's traitor and blah blah. To me, he's this lonely poor guy with broken heart and broken life and a very lonely past. He's just that broken boy with handsome face and cute dimples. Gee! And he loves Jamie so much! I can't help but like him! Sorry Ryan, I'm still in your team btw.
So um, this book is kind of uh...expose about Jamie Baker being a superhero tough. She's been called Super Babe and all. It's like iam reading Spider man Woman Version. Or Cat Woman with electricity power. Sure, when the world knows that there is a hero in US, people went crazy and there's this freak siencetist who want to test her and all. It's the point. Sounds boring, uh?
NU-UH REALLY! The relationship between the characters are deeper and more complex! And Mike, oh that tool from first book just won my heart! I feel very bad for him. I donno, he can't walk again forever. It's just....sad.
OH! Ryan and Jamie's going to engaged too! . Drama! Drama! But hey, life is not cool without drama, isn't it?
I like it! Can't wait till book 3's published! Well done, Kelly Oram! You surely are my favorite author! *kissed & hug*
“I’ve known I was ready to spend the rest of my life with you for a long time, Jamie. I was only waiting for your stubborn butt to realize it, too. Ryan’s eyes sparkled. “Marry me, Jamie.
I am calmer than I was yesterday, so I will try to edit my harsh review from yesterday.
The second book did not live up the expectations. I know. We are talking about Jamie Baker here, the heroine I had - I admit - a kind of a crush on. She was such a kick-ass in the first book, her attitude was pure rock and she has the most adorable boyfriend.
Some parts were really good. Like when she displays her power, because that is just awwwwesome. There are not a lot of times, but when she is Chelsea's Angel even I go all geeky. No wonder Ryan is so crazy about this girl. Her hair suspended in the air.. her eyes glowing yellow..
But where did the "Ice Queen" facade go? She is literally crying for about half of the book. No, better said, the entire book is a "roller-coaster of emotions" **eye-rolls**. Everybody is so emotional in here: Mike, Becky, Jamie's parents, Ryan... ugh, it was disgusting. It was like watching a Latin soap opera. And I am not even going to that "proposal"....
**taking deep breath**
Hell not. I am going there. WTH with getting engaged at 19? And planning to get married in Las Vegas, nonetheless. That was it. That was where my love for Jamie and Ryan was, pufff!... gone. Their love and all the PDA was too cheesy to handle.
And there I was, thinking that the scary "love triangle" was going to be the failure of this book. As if. So OK, Teddy was a cute, geek, dimpled (!) boy who was a bit of a stalker too. And very creepy. But well. Nothing that Jamie could not handle.
Till we get to that end.
That pathetic end.
So this is where I say goodbye to Jamie Baker. Because not in a million years will I bother to read the third book. Bad move, Kelly Oram. Bad move.
Sayonara, Jamie Baker.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
More Than Jamie Baker, starts off where the first left off. Jamie now in College with her Best Friend Becky and her Boyfriend Ryan. Things seem fairly normal. Than a terrible accident occurs and things start to unravel.Ìý
I love this series for many reasons. One, I love Jamie and her powers. I love the fact that she’s never asked for this to happen to her but she’s not weak. She’s strong. She doesn’t back down and she’ll tell you how it is. She really doesn’t have much of a filter. Two, her and Ryan together is just adorable. Now, I did feel that it was written over and over about how they were perfect for each other. They were but I don’t think I needed to hear it over and over again. But then I felt likeÌýsomething horrible was going to happen between them. Like these were moments that we should treasure of them together. Three, I love what she does for her friends and family. She’s protective of people she even barely knows.Ìý
Jamie never asked to be a superhero. But I did love how she found how great it was to help those who needed her. There was a lot of action, heartbreaking moments, danger, and just pure love. Oram, really is an amazing writer and I find that her characters were destined to make an impact on the reader.Ìý
There were a couple new characters that were introduced. All I can say one is an ultimate douche canoe and more like a toddler than a grown boy. gah! and the ending. I’m like nooooooooâ€ So of course I’m going to read the third in the series.Ìý
Overall, I give this book Five Boundless Stars.. On to Remember Jamie Baker <3...Lissa
What was wrong with Jamie in this book? Why was she so oblivious to everything around her?
The new guy? Puuuuleaze. I knew what was going on basically from the time he showed up. All the drama, the senseless running around and looking for a purpose.. and nobody noticed the little psycho amongst their midst?
Urghh... I'm so angry right now. At the beginning everything was great but the epilogue... I just want to scream! I would give only 1 star but I like Ryan too much for that. Anyway, I really hope that everything will sort out really fast in the next book because otherwise I might hate that series forever.
Jamie really annoyed me in this one. She literally cried in every single chapter. She cried so much that I spent half my time reading this rolling my eyes. She also made awful decisions. She encouraged Teddy's feelings for her because she thought they were cute and adorable, despite Ryan being super uncomfortable and unhappy about it
As much as I loved the whole superhero thing that she finally started doing, I was really annoyed with the way she went about doing it. When she was trying to save a girl from being thrown off a roof by her stepfather, instead of listening to the experienced hostage negotiator guy and trying to keep the stepdad calm, she decides to call him a jerk off and tell him all about how she's so much better than him. If this would have been real life, he would have thrown the girl off the roof.
I really hated Jamie here, but everything else was good. The book ended on a cliffhanger, and I'm curious to see how all the characters bounce back from it.
2.5 stars. Thought I'd like this better (they're in college now!) but ehh. Not as good as book 1. Cliffhanger tho, so of course jumped into the last book.
