Zoe Abigail Cozy is 13¾ years old. She lives in a quaint yellow house with her dad, mom, and cat. Mr. Cozy works in the tea industry (If you get him on the subject of tea, he will never stop talking about it.) And no one knows exactly what it is that Mrs. Cozy does. Unfortunately, The Cozy house is not a cozy place to live. Zoe Abigail Cozy is an outsider in her own home. She, at least, has her best friend, the cat, to keep her company. Zoe never thought about the concept of being normal. It was not on her list of things to do or things to worry about. Suddenly, 'being normal' is all anyone could talk about and Zoe does not fit in anywhere. Read along, as Zoe embarks on a journey to 'be normal'.
My passion for art and my passion for writing existed as two separate side of myself until unexpectedly they came together for my first novel American Princess.
My goal is to entertain and share something different, unique, and hopefully special.
All are welcome to send me a message. I will respond as soon as I can.
This is the first book that does not include illustrations, but it is still very close to my heart.
'Normal' is a subject I've wanted to approach for a long time and I'm happy I had the chance to work on this. What is or isn't normal plagues many people. Neither 'fitting in' or 'standing out' are easy things to do.
"Be Normal" is a story about a girl named Zoe Cozy who is not quite mainstream. This tale takes on her irregular form. Her journey is emotional, humorous, and honest. For more visit:
is a quick and easy read that just about any woman - preteen to adult - can enjoy because it's just so easy to relate to main character Zoe. It starts out a bit brutal - Zoe is neglected and misunderstood by her parents, to the point where she is sent against her will to an institution that promises to make her "normal." By all accounts, Zoe is a normal teenager - aren't we all a bit weird and awkward? And so what if she prefers the company of her cat to people her age?
But the anger a reader might feel towards Zoe's parents quickly dissipates once we see just how well Zoe is doing at the school. She makes lifelong friends, she is able to write her true feelings in letters to her parents, and she learns who "she" is. She finishes the year at the institution a happier person, but really the same girl as when she first entered - an important thing to realize, since there was nothing "abnormal" with her to begin with.
This is not my normal choice of read, but the plot line reminded me of a movie I'd seen before, and thought I'd give it a try. A teenage girl likes school, can't stand her parents, and just tries to get through, until one day she makes it home and finds her parents are shipping her off to a special type of school where she can become "normal".
The formatting was a little off on my Kindle, there were letters that were cut off on the left side of my screen, but I could still make out the words. But overall, I enjoyed it. A cute little story about accepting yourself and finding out you might be normal after all.
Thank you to author Brittany Nicole Sandford for sending me a free copy of Be Normal to peruse and enjoy at my leisure! It's been a treat.
Although it was a bit slow to start off, particularly for someone like myself who doesn't necessarily fit the target demographic, this quirky look at Growing Up was both engaging and unique. Be Normal is written in the voice of 13 and 3/4 year old Zoe Cozy as she chronicles her adventures at the Academy to Acclimate in Aptitude, a school for those who don't quite fit the mold in all the wrong (or right?) ways. A charming, quick read, I'd recommend this to anyone who's ever felt out of place with themselves, particularly those between the ages of 12 and 16.
