Another incredibly witty and hilarious novel from the Barney Stinson series. I love the twisted but well meaning advice on how to take care and raise a baby Barney-style (providing a stereotypical view of someone with a very general knowledge on babies). As an added bonus, the funny anecdotes ("Goldieslut and the Three Bros") and nursery rhymes ("The Boobs on the Bus") provide extra "laugh-out-loud" moments.

A very fun and light read, this is highly recommended for those moments when you just want to relax after a long day. Just don't expect to learn anything about parenting or babies here!

So, you want to be parent/are going to be a parent/are a new parent? Congratulations! Your life is over. The good news is there is still hope for your offspring. Indefinite bachelor Barney Stinson gives you all the advice you’ll need to make sure that your baby grows up to be legen- wait for it

Being a fan of Stinson's previous works - '' and '' - it was a no-brainer that I would purchase this volume when I happened upon itsexistence.Sure, I am not a parent, nor do I have any intention of being one...but it gave me a good outlet to laugh at those suckers' expense. "Those suckers" is of course a general term, by which I mean my cousins who all seem to be having babies. Naturally I purchased Stinson's latest work on audio, narrated by the man himself. I have since listened to it through twice. It doesn't disappoint.

'The Bro Code for Parents' comes not only heavy with disclaimers but also includes some notes from the editor, who is naturally a begrudging chick. Although, admittedly, she does sound pretty hot. The editor's notes are primarily interjected when it comes to what women should/should not do during their pregnancy. There is a surprising lack of note from her contradicting the use of a plastic bag as a suitable children's toy.

My favourite aspects of 'The Bro Code for Parents' are Stinson's renditions of classic children's stories and songs. A few that stood out for me were, 'Bro McDonald,' 'The Bro Who Cried Hot Chicks' and his version of 'The Wheels on the Bus.' Couldn't help but crack up over his suggested list of films for expecting parents to watch. Alien!

The only thing that disappointed me was that I was unable to locate the PDF file mentioned by Stinson. I've had this trouble in the past but it was simply an oversight on my part. There was no PDF download link located where I found the one for 'The Bro Code' on Audible. My leg is not an appendage I appreciate being pulled.

Overall, 'The Bro Code for Parents' was a very enjoyable listen. It is not recommended for the easily offended or dangerously literal.

-dary. LEGENDARY!

This may be the worst parenting book of all time [1]. In looking at this book, I had a hard time thinking of any parenting advice in this book that I would want to take, and consider it pretty hilarious all the same. If you read this book expecting serious advice to parents and take the advice as something to follow, the results could be unpleasant. Likewise, if you are offended by the crass vulgarity of this book, you will probably not have a good time reading it. If you realize that there are a lot of people (especially immature men) who are like the fictive author of this book, then you can take the book as a sort of anthropological research project. This book almost encourages that you laugh at Barney Stinson for being such a troglodyte, even if that is not the most charitable responses towards an author and his work. Really, though, as this book is (very) juvenile humor, you know going into this whether you appreciate that or not and can base your reading choice accordingly.

As a whole, this book presupposes that you know the Bro Code and have at least the ability to stand the author's perspective about women and family, which is far from my own personal perspective. After an introduction where the author gives himself a good deal of unwarranted praise, this book is divided into four parts. The first part looks at how one gets pregnant. The second part of the book looks at how to deal with being pregnant. The third part of the book looks at early childhood, and the fourth and final part of the book examines toddlerhood. The book is organized, therefore, in chronological fashion and contains a variety of spectacularly ill-suited advice including interview questions for nannies, inappropriate singalongs, and even advice for down the road, such as viewing one's daughter as old enough to date if you are attracted to some of her friends. Suffice it to say that the book comes with a fitting disclaimer: "..the opinions, techniques, and alarmingly comprehensive parenting advise presented throughout this gospel should never be construed as commonly accepted fact or scientifically proven medical truth, even when expressly presented as such (vii)." Caveat lector.

I felt bad about finding this book funny. Given that the book is completely devoid of factual or moral value, and that I find some of the author's advice repellent, the only value I can see from a book like this is its humor, and even that is a rather doubtful proposition. Since I happen to know people who are not particularly dissimilar from the persona of the author--testament perhaps to my ability to get along with people who are very much unlike me--I found this to be a frightening look at their thinking process. That said, I do not wish to promote this book given that a great many people will not find this book funny and will find nothing of value in it whatsoever. If you are a person with remotely decent personal standards of morality and conduct, there is likely going to be a lot in this book that offends you, but the book will also be written from a point of view close to one's worldly (male) relatives and coworkers and future edge lords in training, which means that this is a book that puts on the outside what many people think and how many people would wish to act if they could, even in such times as our own.

The fourth book in the Bro Code series takes a refreshing step away from picking up women. This is not to say it isn't still crude and overly sexual. It is in fact more graphic and vulgar than the other books in the series.

This one made me laugh more. A lot of the jokes are downright offensive, but very funny. It could very easily offend many parents. But, at the same time it has a lot to say that is truthful. The book has a good balance of idiotic comments that could only be made by a egotistical bachelor and notions that could only be recognized as fact by parents.

There is a lot to skip in here too. Some of the jokes are too shallow to really have much humor and others don't seem to fit the theme. But all in all, it is a funny book, funnier to those with kids. Check it out if you enjoyed the Bro Code or the Playbook.

This book was so funny. So offside. Probably moreso if you know the character of Barney Stinson.

Favourite parts (too many to list...):

Finding out you're pregnant is the most exciting discovery you will ever make, next to stumbling upon one of those conjoined peanut M&M's... - p. 18

Naming your child is also one of the most terrifying things you will ever do. Screw up now and your child could spend the entirety of junior high crammed inside his locker because you thought the name Gayden was, like, soooo cute. Focusing on a trendy name might also cause professional embarassment for your child down the line. Noboby wants a lawyer named Cody or a doctor named Brooklyn...unless of course you're filming a porno. - p. 58

Does it sound good before the world's greatest middle name: Waitforit? - p. 59

Book was totally written from what Barney would say or do. I enjoyed the images and stories, along with the advice. Had some classic tales like "Goldieslut and the three Bros". Best parody stories were "Goonight Bro" and "Alexander and the Awesome, Legendary, Epic, Very Kickass Day". My favorite nursery rhyme was "Jack and jill" :

Jack and Jill went all the way
To end their first blind date.
Jack snuck home and failed to phone
Till Jill found out she's late.

Are you a parent or considering becoming a parent? Are you a fan of HIMYM and the often hilarious, always awesome character Barney Stinson? If you answered yes to either of these questions, then this is the book for you! The audio version is narrated by Barney himself and is an awesome narration. Way to go NPH! This book/audio made me LOL. I did get tired of it after a while, which is why I'm only giving it a 3. If you're a fan of the show, definitely check it out.

Don't get too excited friends/family. I'm probably not as awesome as the title would suggest - I just wanted to read the book. Like the other books in the Barney Stinson series, this is well written, witty, and stays very true to the character. The illustrations are few and far between, but add some great humor when used.

I thought this would be funnier, but quickly into it, I remembered that the Barney Stinson character is my least favorite on HIMYM. Big fans of the character will like it, though. I did have at least one lol.

A humor book given to my husband, it was pretty much exactly what I expected. It has no real advice on raising babies or being pregnant, but is a fun bathroom read if you like Barney Stinson. The stars are for what it is, in that context.

Read by Neil Patrick Harris, the comedy of HIMYM comes through with every word. Better than read it yourself, I guess (I read the original Bro Code), but it's still good fun.

First, I will admit that I don't do well with audio books/spoken word CDs so this format was not ideal for me, but it's all my library had. That could have been part of my challenge with this book as I loved HIMYM and know what to expect from Barney. This is definitely Barney through and through. In other words, it was fairly crude and sexist and full of innuendos and other non-PC commentary. Maybe I wasn't in the mood for it or maybe I'm just getting old, but it didn't connect with me as much as his character's lines on the show did.

This audiobook is only about 2.5 hours long, so I listened to this while I was putting together furniture for the nursery. It’s exactly what I needed to take my mind off of everything I need to do before the baby arrives. It’s a fun read for any HIMYM fans who are expecting kids.
