Seventeen year-old Acquisitions Specialist Drake Adair is legendary at his job: he can obtain anything from anyone and from anywhere, without getting caught. At least, he’s never been caught before.

This time things go differently. He ends up on the run from the enemy Guild and takes refuge in a cave, only to become trapped in a pit in the back of the cave. He might be the only living human in there, but he’s not alone.

Kelsie Blake, Drake's roommate and closest friend since she fled her filicidal father, has secrets. Secrets she keeps even from Drake. Sneaking outside the Gates into the wild, she risks everything for a little excitement. Her lies now threaten everything she cares about most in her life.

Drake unearths a plot by an enemy Guild to tear apart life as he knows it. The very people closest to him may be pawns in the grisly scheme, leaving Kelsie and Drake with no one to turn to as they struggle to find answers before it's too late.

Set eighty years after World War III, Kelsie and Drake pair up to protect the only life they know in a harsh and unforgiving world. They must each come to grips with his abilities, her secrets, and their mixed feelings for each other. Will they make it? Or will the very foundations of their lives be ripped from beneath them?

Splinter is a 55,000-word New-Adult post-apocalyptic paranormal book with romantic elements.

Splinter was formerly published as Whisper Walker in April, 2012. It has been revamped and lengthened for Scotlyn Ink Publishing.

Books & Sweet Epiphany

You would love 'Splinter' if you're a dystopian & supernatural fan.

'Splinter' is edgy and was formerly published as Whisper Walker.

What's Whisper Walker? Well, you gotta read it to find out.

The starting of the story is good because its action packed. Suspense in the starting part was definitely a plus.

I love the characters and the way London portrayed them in the first place. I love Kelsie especially because she was portrayed as a fearless character and is capable of handling herself.

However, as the story unfolds, I find Kelsie kinda boring. This is because the story is told through Kelsie and Drake's point of view. I find Drake's character was explored more than Kelsie.

All in all, 'Splinter' is a wonderful read and if chemistry between characters are what you're looking for then 'Splinter' is the book for you.

Sincerely,
Selina.

This book went way beyond my expectations.

The characters in it were very likable and I enjoy the romance that blooms within Splinter. The book had action, secrets, and surprises.

Another pleaser in this is that there were supernatural events within the book that wasn't to do with the usual vampires or werewolves. I mean with this day and age that's all you ever find within stuff, but at long last here is a break.

Most of the events that occurred took me by surprise and a book that does that to me is very enjoyable in my opinion. I mean who does not love surprise?

I guarantee that you will enjoy this read.

Review: I bought and read Whisper Walker, before obtaining the revamped version. That being said I can say that the difference of the authors writing can be clearly seen in the scenes that were redone or added. I don’t agree fully that this novel should be classified as New-Adult. Yes, there are mature situations, but the characters are Kelsie, just seventeen, and Drake who is seventeen. To me it’s solidly set in YA. Splinter is a fast paced novel that will keep you engaged with it’s twists and character revelations.

The point of view shifted back and forth between Kelsie and Drake. While I liked them both, Kelsie is a clear favorite of mine. I can connect with how she thinks and she’s a nerd. BONUS! Not to mention she’s pretty; take charge get names later, when the situation calls for it. I like my main lead females strong and she definitely was. Drake was solid throughout. When you got to glimpse into the fact he isn’t as invincible as he seems, his character really grew. What was done well was being able to see how each character would do or think something and then see how different the other one perceived it as. I don’t like dual pov’s often, but I liked this one, because the author made sure that they interlinked well, and even inserted moments that were humorous if you caught them.

The setting is post-apocalyptic of course. When the story opens up the world building is done effortlessly like you were already there. After the first opening the story slows a bit. It’s not till around pg. 40 it picks up again. That’s not a bad thing though, because when the story picks up it really does. I do however wish there was more just moments of Drake and Kelsie just talking about absolutely nothing important. These conversations and scenes would make them more tangible. I mean they’re were conversations between Drake and Kelsie and thoughts that were just PERFECT. I want more of that. It wouldn’t even have slowed the book down, just added to the back-drop and world building.

I would recommend this book to readers who are looking for an action packed novel. While I didn’t get fully lost, I enjoyed the ride.

I would like to thank the YA/NA fanatics group for providing me with a copy of this book for a fair and honest review.

I had really high hopes for this one. I asked for a copy of Splinter after reading the description on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ. From the description I imagined this book to be about a thief who steals something important from the enemy guild and in doing so uncovers a terrible secret which could endanger the lives of all the people left on the Earth. The bonus was that it was set in an apocalyptic world in the future where the human race is on the brink of dying out.

What I got was a little different. The first half of the book seemed to be just a build up of the relationship between the two main characters, Drake and Kelsie. While this was fine, it went on a bit and I lost count of the number of encounters they had in the shower! Just as I was getting a little frustrated with the lack of action in the story and thinking 'if they have one more shower I'll....' the story did a complete 180 and did something I really didn't except.... It turned into a YA Paranormal book...??? Now I must say I did enjoy the last 30% of the book, once I got my head round the fact that it had, in my mind anyway, leap-frogged into a different genre.

I found the switching between POV a little off putting especially as it was in first person. I went whole pages thinking it was the other character!

I think the writing was great, the imagination that must have gone into this to create a really good world! wow, and it shows great potential however I felt it a little bit like there were too many ideas all trying to be squeezed into the one book. Maybe if the first half of the book had a little bit more paranormal to it, maybe a little bit more history (e.g. tales about the Whisper Walkers, Shamans etc).

In the end I gave this 2.5 for good world building, promising characters and good descriptions.

I would like to thank the YA/NA fanatics group for providing me with a copy of this book for a fair and honest review.

I'm sorry to say that this book disappointed me. When I read the summary, I was immediately drawn to the story because these ardent my kind of stories. It turns out this was an exception.

I didn't connect with the characters at all. Kelsie and Drake describe each other-and themselves- to be certain kind of people. Yet, their actions show the complete opposite. And considering that this is after World War III, shouldn't people be smarter and more alert? But no, Kelsie and Drake shrug almost everything off.

Kelsie's secret isn't all that dramatic, I don't even get why she keeps it a secret even though it's not hidden from everyone-like a certain guard.

Kelsie and Drake's relationship was cute at first but then they've been put in compromising and awkward situations but they never acknowledge them afterwards.

Nothing very exciting or interesting happened for the majority of the book and when the climax hit, the characters emotions were so mild that I just thought-Blah!

I don't understand why the book is set 80 years after World War III, when it had nothing to do with the plot except for the mutants. I can't figure out whether this is a paranormal, dystopian or sci-fi book either.

In the end-while I didn't like this book much-if there was a sequel, this book did enough to probably make me read it.

This story is so much more than a fantasy adventure, as it explores what it means to confront the terrifying history of your own family, discover secrets about the ones closest to you, and the realization that you may be destined for so much more than you ever thought...

The world-building is fantastic. The action scenes are great, as are the interactions between Drake and Kelsie, the two protagonists. The dialogue is full of wit and humor. The pace is spot-on and kept me turning the pages quickly. I enjoyed the combination of supernatural, dystopian, and romantic elements, but at its heart, this is a true adventure story, and the author developed it superbly.

This book was re-vamped and lengthened for publication by Scotlyn Ink, and as someone who read both the original book, and this new version, I can say that while I really liked the original, I love this version. Splinter has a whole new level of emotional depth and character development. I enjoyed being able to identify with Kelsie and Drake in a whole new way, as the author gives us new insight and a deeper connection to the characters.

I thought this book was exciting, and would be enjoyed by readers of all ages.

Excellent YA read..l post apocalyptic story with a paranormal twist. Great characters and well written with little lag.
The author creates a world full of struggle, mutants, and action. Drake and Kelsie have real personality and charisma. Drake is a handsome 17yo. "hunter", he's solid, but not invincible. He is easy going and has feelings for Kelsie that he keeps hidden under the guise of roommate and friend.
Kelsie is a pretty but nerdy 16yo. who is a strong, take-charge kind of girl when the situation calls for it.
The dialogue is witty and down-to-earth with a flow of humor written at appropriate times.
The romantic elements are light and leave room for a real story to develop. Really enjoyed the alternating POV - adds so much to a story and let's the reader really know what's going on...

This novel is a dystopian novel set up in a world divided into hostile colonies fighting for resources, political power, and land. I really enjoyed this novel and the evolution of its characters and their relationships. The paranormal powers that develop in the main female and male lead are in rhythm of the world they live in. This novel was an easy read that kept me entertained until the end. I am looking forward to the rest of the series and am involved in the characters' survival.

I received an eBook copy of this novel from the author in return for my honest review. This in no way affected my opinion.
