I was prepared to not like this one, but kinda enjoyed it. Yeah, I did.:) Now I sound like the heroine, Shawn, who irked me at times with her indecisiveness about her feelings. I totally adored Rhett, though. Most of the time I thought he was mature beyond his years (25), or at least more mature than Shawn (32).

Sometimes I think this series is running out of steam, but after meeting Shawn's friend Harley, and reading about her feelings for her bad boy boss, I think I want it to continue for at least one more book!

A mostly entertaining read, with plenty of dirty times sprinkled in to make it hot...4 stars.

P.S.: Why is a young Simon Cowell on the cover? I sooo do not want to picture Rhett as Simon...

I think I am done with this series and even this author's book for a while because for a long time they haven't been working for me. I found not much of a plot in this book and it was sexed up for no good reason, with the 8 years younger hero liking control in the bedroom and it wasn't explained why the heroine would like that. And oh there is of course a stupid will and marriage of convenience plot that turns into love. Not my cup of tea.

I was really into one of Erin's previous works, so I decided to give another of her series a try because, well, I love cars. Especially when you put hot boys and cars together.

Sadly, I was a tad disappointed once I'd ventured beyond the cover only to realize that this was another failed attempt at the new mainstream BDSM trend that's so popular right now. Don't get me wrong, I like a good dom/sub as much as the next smut reader, but when it doesn't feel genuine it seriously just kills the whole thing for me. For Rhett and Shawn, it didn't feel genuine. It felt like Rhett being an overbearing buttface who, if it had been me in his bed, would have gotten kicked in the junk. There's a huge difference between when someone is totally into the submission thing and when someone's being forced into it. In this case, I felt like Shawn was forced into it, and that really didn't sit well with me.

So yeah, while there were parts I enjoyed--and a few of the scenes were pretty steamy, I spent too much time being annoyed with their dynamic to really enjoy this one the way it was intended.

4.5 stars!!

Book love, people, book effing love. Full Throttle totally had all my engines revving from the very start. A curious book club, a fetish club, accidentally getting felt up by your best friends baby brother-in-law at said fetish club (oops!). Add in a marriage of convenience and awesome characters that literally had me gigglesnorting and choking back laughs one minute and the next had me squirming because omg these two are HOT! and I was just in reader girl heaven.

So, basically, in a surprise twist from her grandfather Shawn finds out she'll only inherit the race track she runs if she gets married...within two weeks! Frustrating as hell for a fiercely independent girl used to running things her way. Determined not to lose everything she's worked for Shawn circles back to the hottie from the fetish club and makes an interesting proposition...

Rhett, Rhett, Rhett. Yeah, he's the kind of hero that makes you want to do all kinds of naughty diiirrrty things to him, er, with him. He's super intense and confident, way dominant and just sweet and generous to top it all off. Ung. Just. So. Sexy. And Shawn is pretty great too. She's a bit of a tom boy, can hold her own in the male dominated world of race car driving and manages to get herself in all kinds of make you shake your head hilarious situations.

So the steamy bits. Whoboy! *fans self* Rhett. Damn all that dominant and intense-ness he's rocking definitely applies to the bedroom. Gah it was just sooo good! The two were passionate and sexy and nicely adventurous in the bedroom. Things have a luscious edge because of his dominance that totaly worked for me and had me catching my breath a time or two. There are some pretty funny moments too though...
He almost lost the pillow to her nimble fingers but he clamped down harder on it and raised it high above his head so that she had to stretch for it.

"Oh!" She glared at him in frustration, but there was a definite twinkle in her eye.

Then she did something he never in a million years would have predicted. Nor was he at all prepared for it. She reached out with her left hand and stroked right across the front of his boxers, down the length of his cock.

He was so shocked that he loosened his grip on the pillow. Which she snagged and then scooted backward on the bed, laughing, removing her hand from his erection.

Rhett was stunned. and turned on. and filled with a new respect for her quick thinking.

I really loved seeing their relationship change from a marriage of convenience to something more. These two really get each other even if it scares the shit out of them and are just absolutely perfect for each other. It's a bumpy ride sometimes but it's an amazing one too that had me smiling, tearing up and when it got rough lordy had me wanting to shake them too. There are some moments between them when they're just being flat out open and honest with each other and risking it all that the emotional tension and sweetness of it had me holding my breath. It was really just excellent.

McCarthy nailed all of the things I love in a read. Awesome characters with stellar chemistry, a little bit of drama and a meddling family, toe curling steamy bits that have me fanning myself and just a really remarkable romance and hilarious situations. I just love her humor and had a blast with Full Throttle. Definitely one to check out.

Not my favorite of the series, but still good. Shawn meets Rhett during a night out with her friends, not knowing he's her best friend's brother-in-law. There is an instant attraction, but he's seven years younger than she is and that bothers her a little at first. But when she needs a husband fast, Rhett is the one she goes to. He agrees to marry her, but refuses the idea of a marriage of convenience. He wants Shawn and this is the perfect chance to have her.

Shawn is a business woman and independent. She needs Rhett in order to keep the race track, but isn't interested in anything more until her attraction to him takes off. She discovers that Rhett likes to be the boss in the bedroom and finds that she's okay with that. And while they started out putting a time limit on the marriage, Shawn starts thinking about what it would be like to stay married to him.

Rhett is the youngest of his family and spent a lot of time being bossed around by his sisters. As a result, he likes to have control where he can. He's an intense guy, not known for being light and charming, and finding a woman who can handle that intensity has been difficult. Shawn is mature enough to do so and Rhett realizes that she is perfect for him. He just has to convince her.

I really liked the way that Rhett realized his feelings so quickly and wanted to find a way to make the relationship permanent. He does seem to be something of a steamroller and doesn't pick up on the clues that, while she cares just as much as her does, Shawn is much warier about believing in a happy ending. I liked their honesty with each other and that they make the effort to really communicate. Rhett's youth does influence things at the end, when he seems to have an all or nothing attitude, without seeming to be willing to compromise. Fortunately, wiser heads have an influence and they are able to work things out.

The bedroom scenes are pretty intense and not really my cup of tea, but they worked for the story. I was happy to see Rhett not be a total ass. He did have a quick, emotional connection with Shawn that made their relationship more believable.

I am a fan of McCarthy's Fast Track Series, and I thoroughly enjoyed this latest installment. Shawn Hamby and Rhett Ford were great, likeable characters. I enjoyed seeing other characters from the series as well. In this book, Shawn Hamby, whose life revolves around racing, will lose the dirt track she inherited due to stipulations in her grandfather's will unless she quickly marries. As she tries to puzzle out what to do, she meets sexy younger man Rhett Ford when her book club group visits a fetish club on a lark. The two are instantly attracted, and soon Shawn has proposed a marriage of convenience, which Rhett accepts. The two plan on a temporary marriage, but then the steam between them starts to develop into deeper feelings. I am not normally much of a fan of BDSM, but Rhett's variety was filled with such tenderness and caring that it didn't bother me in this book in the least. Great characters and an entertaining story made this one a hit for me!

I'm not really sure why Erin McCarthy introduced all these new characters unless she just wanted to pair Rhett up with somebody. I feel like the series could have ended with Eve and been fine because that way, all the main characters introduced in Book 1 got matched up. I kinda missed meeting the other, the main crew, like Suzanne, Elec, Ryder, Imogen, etc. It doesn't seem like the last book in the series, Book 8, will have these characters in there either :/

Yo, omg, Rhett being 25, married, and about to be a father just freaks me out a little bit. A few years ago, I would have been like that's fine, 25 is old. And now I just realized I will be that age in 5 years and I'm nowhere ready for all that. Crazy

Anyway, plot: Shawn and Rhett first meet at a fetish club. (They were both just checking it out.) Then Shawn learns from her grandfather's lawyer that if she wants to keep the family track, she has to be married for a year. Sure enough, she asks Rhett. This is their story.

Omg, I got such Scorpio vibes from Rhett, lol. I couldn't tell you for Shawn. I didn't like her name tbh. Obviously, it's a guy's name, and it was explained in the story how when her dad walked out, her lovesick mom, who was quite an unpleasant character, named her after her dad.

I also wasn't such a fan of the ending, which I found a teeny bit abrupt & not meaningful in any way. Seemed like Erin McCarthy just wanted to end the book already lol.

(I tagged this funny at times because the book had me laughing out loud a few times.)

Awful. So awful.

First off, I found the main characters, Shawn & Rhett, to be mostly uninteresting. I didn’t hate them, but I didn’t like them much either. I just really couldn’t connect with them in any way.

Second, the dominant/submissively sex scenes are not my thing personally. I’d say it was 50 Shades lite, except I never read that because that doesn’t appeal to me in any way. Honestly I think it’s not fair to introduce that kind of dynamic in an established series that isn't erotica.

Third I thought some of the dialog was ridiculous. Rhett’s idea of sexy-talk to me was more reminiscent of Beavis and Butthead than anything. I have no issue with dirty talk, but this was more like things a 13 year old boy would say.

Finally my main issue . . . a forced marriage/marriage of convenience? Really? In a contemporary romance? No, not buying it. Honestly if I hadn’t read the first 6 in the series and pre-ordered this before the description was even up on Amazon yet (lesson learned there friends!) I probably wouldn’t have bothered once I saw the main plot point.

Ultimately I’m waiving the red flag on this series. It had been getting a little boring in the last few books anyway so I’m moving on.

***Slight Details***

FULL THROTTLE was certainly my least favorite book of this series.

I thought both characters were very flat. The story set up wasn’t one to really grab my attention.

I wonder if the author did any research on bedroom doms because Rhett was not a realistic one. He claimed not to be a ‘true dom, but it made matters even worse with him being a fake. His tactics in the bedroom with Shawn just didn’t roll with me and she didn’t help matters.

Shawn was exhausting too. When her grandfather’s will comes back that she must marry to keep the family race track, Rhett lands in her lap after spotting the each other at a Dom/sub club.

Of course mixed emotions come once they are married. Rhett falls quickly for the older female who can take his dominance in the bedroom, while Shawn has panic attacks over her potential future.

I enjoyed Rhett’s family, but I missed our past characters. Shawn’s friends didn’t take the place of any of them in my opinion.

I’ll have to pass on this one.

What a disappointment. This book was obviously McCarthy's attempt at jumping on the BDSM waggon and let me tell you, she didn't make it there. I loved the first novels in the Fast Track series, especially , as the main characters were believable and the setting of motor racing was something new for me. But this - both heroine and hero are extremely boring and I couldn't have cared less what was happening to them. The BDSM part was neither here nor there, the characters from the previous books felt like they'd rather be somewhere else too and the story itself with it's "I have to get married or lose my inheritance" has been done much better by other authors.

Please, Erin McCarthy, go back to what you can do - writing sexy novels with characters readers can care about.

Sometimes I think this author has given up on this series and that really saddens me. Full Throttle could have been great, but sadly for me it did not turn out that great.

For years the Fast Track series has been on my auto buy shelf. I love the fast past, somewhat funny romances this author produces and hope her spark will pick back up in the next one. I am not done with this series!

I loved Rhett! I didn't car for Shawn too much. The ending was abrupt, I felt she just quit in the middle of the chapter.

I liked this. There were a few things that bothered me. I know BFFs gotta be real with each other, but Eve just came across as a horrid bitch most of the time and I couldn't stand her. I liked Shawn mostly, but she was kind of irritating too. LOVED Rhett!!! I will read the one about Harley, she seems sweet.

nipples hardening during a conversation count: 8
words that are not in the bible that are in this book UNIRONICALLY: "girl insides", "creamy edges", "hoo-hah", "alpha male"
tropes: older fmc, fake marriage, bdsm(?????)

im trying to be a completionist this year. if i start a book out of morbid curiosity, i must finish it. what was i curious about? working in motorsport, how to run a circuit, gender in motorsport. i thought: huh, surely the author would be really into motorsport and knowledgeable and drop lots of facts or perspectives about it if they have an ENTIRE SERIES ABOUT MOTORSPORT ROMANCES. bruh there was only one conversation about motorsport in this book that happened after theyd already had TWO sex scenes (or was it three???????) and the conversation was basically just:

fmc: if i want more sponsorships for the track, i should apply for bigger competitions to race here, and start a social media presence

mmc: yayyyyy you can do it!! (he said without a smile on his face because he never smiles)

also the mmc is supposed to be balancing working on a pit crew with driving his own car in a different series but honestly he felt jobless. like he DOES go to work and then comes home a bit oilier. he has no life (that we see) aside from the fake marriage and his massive family. the author also kept reminding us hes a nice guy, he has functioning ears connected to a functioning brain with common sense rattling around in there which makes him SOOO SPECIAL (the bar is in HELL!!!!! he has no personality!!!!) he just likes to take the lead during sex??

im also not used to taking like 3 days to finish reading a sex scene. they were so cringe. i dont even think they were that long but they were just so. cringe. physically put my phone down. im gonna guess the main differences between all the books in the series is the different sexual proclivities each of the main couples have (also they all have different jobs in motorsport but if theyre anything like this book, you wont even notice that they're employed). my luck pulling the undernegotiated bdsm book. and honestly the bdsm didnt even go hard, he just gave her orders through otherwise vanilla sex.

the other tropes werent even done well either. the whole point of fake marriage/dating is the whole "are they good at acting or are they actually flirting", but from the minute they agree to get fake married HE TELLS HER THAT EVERYTHING IN PRIVATE IS GENUINE!!!!!!!!!!! and also every time they had a cute-ish moment together he would say something really sexual and cringy and eugh. the whole older fmc-younger mmc thing was just her being insecure about her age and him waving it off.

lesson learned: probably hard pressed to find a book w actual motorsport plot and romance sideplot outside of ao3

I’ve always been a big fan of the series and one of the reasons is the feeling of “family that this group of characters has. And usually, I also enjoy the little bit of sports that actually goes into the stories. They are sweet and just enough sexy and all around feel-good reads.

FULL THROTTLE was different then what we’ve seen in this series before, while still being everything I expected. A little bit less sports and lot spicier. Rhett, our hero named after Rhett Butler, is young, intense and a Dom. He’s also Nolan’s little brother (from JACKED UP). He meets Shawn (yes, a girl) at a BDSM club where she was visiting with her girlfriends on a “book club excursion. Come to find out the girl that caught his eye is also his brothers wife’s best friend. And she owns the race track where he wants to start driving.

Shawn is in a bit of a bind when her grandfather passed and left her the race track as her inheritance. But in order for her to inherit it, she must be married for at least one year. Shawn is not the marrying kind. She’s in her 30s and not looking to settle down with anyone right now. So it makes perfect sense to offer hunky Rhett a deal and propose to him.

I have to admit, sometimes these storylines can be a bit cheesy or feel too easy to make them work as a couple. But Ms. Carthy did a wonderful job with this story. There were so many conflicts they had to overcome, even after getting married. There’s the age thing (yes, she’s a cougar) and there’s the D/s thing (she’s didn’t think she wanted it, he wouldn’t take any thing less).

I think it’s safe to say Rhett is pretty irresistible, and he doesn’t focus on a woman easily. When he sets his sights on you, he goes full force and intense. And let me tell you the puddle of goo you will turn into for this guy. Not only is he a bit dark and dominant but he has such a sweet and loving side. And deep down he has a sense of humor too. Those might be my favorite parts, seeing him open up to Shawn in ways that he may have not opened up to anyone before. Letting the walls down just enough that she could slip in and see both sides of the real him.

Shawn is also my type of chick. Most of the women in this series are. They are independent, a bit kick ass, not scared to tell their man the way it is. She’s determined to do what needs to be done for her to get ahead and succeed. And she’s woman enough to grovel when she’s made the wrong decision.

The constant push and pull in their relationship, along with the sparks these two created, kept this book going strong and I didn’t want to stop until I got to the words “THE END.

Full Throttle is the latest offering from Erin McCarthy in her Fast Track series. This series features strong women, determined men and is set within the racing world. This her seventh novel in the series takes the reader on a ride behind the scenes of this male dominated world.
Shawn Hamby has recently lost her grandfather who raised her when her parents broke up. He taught her all he knew about running his racing circuit and at thirty two all she dreams about is keeping it afloat. She's always been a bit of a tomboy and isn't afraid to work hard for what she wants but her world is about to come crashing down when she finds out the conditions in her grandfathers will. On a wild night out with friends at a local fetish club Shawn meets Rhett Ford, seven years her junior and her best friends brother in law. Fearing the complications and unsure about his obviously dominating nature Shawn backtracks quickly away from him but Rhett has other ideas. Tracking her down he tempts her as no other man has for a long time .Shawn's used to playing by her own rules and she takes him up on his offer of a drink. Whilst enjoying his company she has a crazy idea how to solve her problem over her grandfathers will and offers him a challenge. Rhett is determined to get to know this woman inside and out , both in and out of the bedroom and it looks as if the race is on!
Ok this is my first book by this author but that didn't detract in any way from this read. I don't feel its essential to have read this series in order to enjoy this book. Whilst I'm not a great fan of books set in the sporting world I found that this tale hardly featured the racing world at all. The action and story are set away from it and it's a completely wild story. Whilst not wishing to give too much away I will say that Rhett has a very kinky side. He's determined to ensure his ladies maximum satisfaction even if she's not sure what she wants. Be prepared for long slow loving from a very dominant man! I liked Shawn as she's a confident woman who deserves happiness and Rhett is written as a very loyal and straight talking character. This is an author who knows how to write and this sensuous romance was a very satisfying read. Sure to delight her fans and I enjoyed it from start to finish!

I'm really torn between 4 and 5 stars for this one. Usually if it's a book that I'll definitely read again, I'd give it 5 stars and I know I'll read this one again...but when I think of the other 5 star reads on my shelves...this would not be in the cream of the crop. So I think I'm going to give it 4 stars, but only because it pales against all the walking wounded hero stories that I crave. But for an almost pool-side beachy quick and satisfying read, it's a 5 all the way. And also while I love this series, in general, even the weak reads, I tend to read again (except Ryder's story, that was just depressing and made me sad for him), this one might be in the top 3...nothing tops Elec's story for me.

This one was fun and I really enjoyed the depth of Shawn and Rhett's story, even if it did span roughly 12 days. Holy smokes.

Aside from the fact that I really believe it is impossible to get a Guiness at a Country Western bar featuring a mechanical bull in North Carolina...I enjoyed the ride in general. Neither character was ridiculously wounded or mean to a fault. There wasn't much racing...well, none, really. And not too many past-cast cameos (sniff). No over the top drama or even excessive angst really and no half-assed mystery just to stretch things out. Just a straight up, quick, slightly messy, but reasonably believable romance in the fast lane.

And while it looks like I read it over 4 days, I really effectively read it in one sitting. Yup, it was that good and I was that sick that I got to spend the whole day in bed, reading. Too bad I have to feel that crappy to have that much uninterrupted time to enjoy a good read.

I loved the opening, how the girls took their book club to a whole new level. I liked how Shawn and Rhett met, loved that Shawn was being so flip with Rhett, thinking he was feeding her lines. Better was when Eve realized just who Rhett was, giving her a whole knew perspective on her brother-in-law.

I felt for Shawn when her Grandfather's will was laid out for her. I hated that she had so many constrictions in the way of her dream. I knew right away that Shawn's answer was Rhett and couldn't wait to see how she broached the subject with him. When Shawn did finally bring things up with Rhett I found myself laughing.

The reaction of the new couple had me laughing. It seems like Rhett and Shawn didn't take into consideration the people in their lives when they hammered out details of their deal.

I really liked how things went for Shawn and Rhett, by getting to know each other better and explore things from the club when they meet, they seemed to break down barriers in themselves and fell for each other in spite of neither intending to.

I thought the big party would be all about the race track turning around, not the couple blowing up. I have to say that I was on Shawn's side and how Rhett's actions, plus another potential pitfall, caused Shawn to freak out. I was only glad that Eve was able to talk some sense into Shawn so that we could get out HEA with the book.

Full Throttle describes this book. Right from the very humorous start in a fetish club this book goes full speed. Rhett Ford who is Nolan’s (from previous book) little brother is an intense guy who likes to be in charge in the bedroom. He’s 25 but knows what he wants out of life and in the bedroom but hasn’t had much luck finding that with women is own age. When he sees Shawn Hamby for the first time he knows she is what he has been looking for.

Shawn runs race track that has been in her family for years. When her grandfather died he put a stipulation in his will that she had to be married to become owner of the track. She in her 30’s and has no prospects until the man she met at the club comes walking into her office and she makes a proposal.

These two get married after knowing each other only for days but you felt the sexual attraction between them from the start and the bedrooms scenes between these two was smoking. Eve plays a big part in this book as she is Shawn’s best friend and Rhett’s sister in law. Eve provided plenty of laugh out loud moments as usual. This was a very entertaining read from start to finish with plenty of fanning self moments from the sex scenes and laughter when Shawn and Eve and the girls were together.

I became a huge fan of Erin's when she came out with her Fast Track Series and maybe it's because I'm a huge Nascar fan and love racing in general.

Shawn thought that after her grandfather had passed away that he would leave his dirt track to her. He did of course but there is one stipulation. She has to be married in order to get it.

Rhett.. Yes that's his real name. The baby brother to Nolan and brother in law to Eve. Rhett works on Eve's pit crew but his true love is dirt track racing with a very nice Dominant side to him.

Full Throttle was an awesome awesome story. There were times when I laughed and times when I was gripping my book so hard and going Oh My God that if I had been reading around people they would have thought I was nuts. This book is intense in my opinion and even with the whole marriage of convenience I was still enthralled with the story

All I can say is FUN FUN FUN from the start! No, SERIOUSLY, fun lol
Everyone one of the Fast Track books have been enjoyably. And they have all been full of witty characters that had fun with each other and drew us into their world easily. Altho, Rhett could have had a tiny bit more patience when it came to 'love', he didnt come across as obnoxious or demanding, just a little overbearing LOL ... let a girl catch up will ya LOL
From meeting at a BDSM club to getting married to satisfy a will to watching, or rather reading, them both fall BAM into each other ... I had a great time reading this one. And I am sure I will have fun reading even more of them! ;]

Much like its title suggests, Full Throttle is a fast and romantically explosive read, giving us a leading pair who make us wonder if we’re in danger of singed fingertips should we hold the pages for longer than a second or two before flipping. While the intimate scenes are undeniably scorching, Ms. McCarthy deftly ensures that the emotional component of Shawn and Rhett’s relationship is given equal weight to their bedroom forays, providing a beautiful balance that ultimately more than satisfies both the hedonist and romantic in us all...

I am not a fan of BDSM reading and i think is worse when people write about it because is fashion, is what happened with this book, it doesn't feel right, like she have to put some BDSM because is what is selling.

For me is the worst book of the series, i think she wasted great characters behind a story that she even know how to develop

Shawn's life is about to be upended and not in a good way. She thought she would inherit the dirt auto-racing track that has been in her family and she helped her grandfather run since she was little, but her grandfather's will has crazy stipulations in it for that to take place. Between the vying emotions of shock that he expected her to marry in two months time or forfeit the track and the hurt that he didn't trust her to run it on her own, she is reeling. She rejects, accepts, rejects and then accepts again the inevitability that she only has one choice if she wants to keep the most important thing in her life. So when handsome, intense Rhett Ford walks through her door determined to pick up where they left off the other night at the bar when her friends pulled her away from him, she's game in more ways than one even if he is too young for her and the baby brother of her best friend's husband.

Rhett spotted Shawn at the bar of the sex club where he was hanging out after yet another break up with a girl he scared off with his needs. His expression, demeanor and need to dominate in the bedroom sent women running, but then he catches sight of a beautiful self-assured woman who looks him right in the eye from across the room. He gets one dance with her before her friends drag her away and he knows he wants more. When he is finally able to hunt down Shawn and asks her out for a drink, she bowls him over with a crazy proposition. The trouble is; he doesn't see it as crazy. She offers to pay him a hundred grand if he will marry her, live with her for six months and stay married to her for a year. Not only will it solve all his financial problems, it will give him the opportunity to explore this instinct he has that Shawn is the right woman for him.

So they go through with it in secret. Jumping off the cliff like this terrifies Shawn and yet she really wants this too. Rhett may be young, but he is honest about everything even the harder things to speak about and he knows what he wants which makes him more mature than his age. But her past track record has left her with little faith in people. She is determined to hold all the control and he is equally determined to show her that she doesn't have to if she trusts someone.

Rhett wants her brazen, confident spirit that won't cow to him and he wants her to trust him so deeply that she will turn over control to him in the bedroom. He has been accused of so many things and yet not all of it is true. He does feel, he does attach and he can do it quickly. It's scary how much he wants to be with Shawn even after so little time. And he is certain that she feels it too.

I haven't read any other books from this series (gasp) and nothing by this author, but the blurb drew me in along with the cover. I've never read a book with a backdrop in car racing so I wanted to give the author and this type of romance setting a try. I did just fine jumping in with book seven. I could tell that I was meeting people from former books and knew they had their stories already, but this book had its own separate plot. The characters may have been introduced in the books previous, but they were new to each other so it worked well.

As I read this book, it was quite obvious from the beginning that I would have to suspend belief about a few things if I was ever going to finish this one with any amount of enjoyment. The improbable marriage clause in the will, the confident thirty something business woman grabbing almost a total stranger to marry and then how quickly she gave charge of her most private life over to him. The other side of it is improbable about Rhett too. So even though it niggled now and then, I just said 'heck with it' and let myself go with it. The plot was good and the relationship that began after the elopement was well written. The relationship was the focal point of the story. There are peek-ins with Rhett's family particularly his brother, Nolan and Eve, his sister in law who is Shawn's best friend, but for the most part it is Rhett and Shawn at the forefront. There was the beginning of the little side trail with one of the bookclub friends that will probably get its own story soon and I'm definitely game with that when/if it comes.

Truthfully, I wasn't very into Shawn at first. I found it ironic that she freaked out and called Rhett a 'fetus' in comparison to her with a vast (sarcasm included) gulf of almost eight years between them when all she did was play games with him at first. I was relieved when he took the mature approach and called her on her crap. After she manned-up and stopped treating everything like a manipulation game or a dare, I really started enjoying this story and even enjoyed her playful spirit that couldn't turn down a dare with her best friend. It was fun to see her hanging out with the gals from her bookclub or her best friend and even later with all Rhett's sisters. Rhett made her happier and a better person.

Rhett is intense, but he is loving and a sweet, caring gentleman that Shawn fully appreciates just as he is. It was neat how he is into all the good stuff she has to offer. The facade they are presenting to the others and the fears that it will be all over when the contract is fulfilled is their dilemma that keeps them both vulnerable. They have come to love each other and what they have together. It was such a relief when without too much angst and issues, Rhett realized he was in love and then told her so and then she reciprocated even if it scared the willies out of her to do so.

The romance was passionate and heated. I loved how it all started with communication and promises before it made it to the physical. Rhett knows he has to challenge Shawn because she will do her passive-aggressive thing if he lets her. He makes it clear that she will get what she wants in the end if she will relinquish control to him. They explore these dominant/submissive roles in the bedroom. It will eventually get more exploring in future, but I liked how it stayed fairly tame since it would have pushed even my suspended belief for them to go all hard core too quickly. And they really didn't need it because just Rhett alone is enough to get a woman squirming and wanting.

The only real niggle I had and it is just me and might not even be noticed by others was that the nicknames Shawn gave her girl parts had me shaking my head because it just didn't even sound attractive or sexy to me. A 'cooter'? Um, okay. Guess I need to get out more so I can learn to appreciate more colorful language- nah, probably not. But body part nicknames is a relatively small thing.

All in all, I loved my first experience with this author and enjoyed the race car world she has set up in this series. I look forward to reading other books in the series and continuing on from here. I think this would appeal to most Contemporary Romance fans who like their romance hot and fast paced, but in particular sport romance fans should give these a try.

My thanks to Net Galley and Penguin Group for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I loved this series. I am one of those freaks that buys certain authors book in paperback and ebook. Erin is one of those for me. I have several in both formats and love to reread them over and over. I loved this story. I went right along with the previous book. It’s easily one of the best books in the series. The Ford boys are too funny.?
