When the band’s first US tour meets with some unforeseen management issues, Saffron Richards is brought in to take care of it. A veteran of the business, Saffron knows all about Rhys and his reputation and doesn’t want to become another notch on his belt. Too bad fate has it in for the both of them, and gives them an attraction neither can deny.
But life on the road with an up and coming band has its problems, from bosses to groupies to just plain old flat tires. And Phaedra, who has been watching from the mists and reveling in the misery of her lost lover doesn’t want to see him happy. Being together is harder than it sounds, especially when Phaedra crosses the veils on All Hallows Eve to reignite the love that Saffron has set to ash in Rhys. And Phaedra is not giving him up without a fight. Not because she loves him, but because she doesn’t ever want him to forget.
Warning: this is considered a New Adult genre release. Reader discretion is advised.
Bi-continental, Stella and Audra break all misconceptions about siblings. Writing as a team they have produced well over eighteen novels as well as several novella's and short stories. And nary an argument has come from it.
On their off time from writing, Audra is a makeup artist and Stella is a graphic artist and web designer, as well as the convention director for the Authors After Dark convention. They both love animals and have several including several snakes and a peacock.
Audra lives in Scotland with her husband and children, while Stella Lives in South Carolina with her dogs Moo and Poe and her husband.
The cover had me at hello, it's fucking awesome. Then you have a band, a fucking hot band at that with a lead singer who will melt your panties off by singing.
HOT RIGHT?
And not only do you have all of those, it brings in a super natural feel into the mix where it takes you on a whole different type of spin.
Rhys is sexy, cocky, self destruct, that has the ladies dropping their panties for him as soon as he gets off stage. They want him, he's hot.
You got that right?
Well there is a little something about Rhys that makes him just a little different. Just a little. He can see and talk to the dead! Rhys is grieving over his dead fiance for the past two years. He knows she is probably around but will not show her self to him. So, at that point he will not allow anyone to get close to him since he is still madly in love with her.
Not until Saffron the new tour manager for their first US tour comes into the picture. She is highly professional and kicks ass doing what she does best. Saffron does not take shit from anyone. I love her outfits that she wears out, fucking hot and I want them.
Rhys wants to get into Saffron's panties. ( I'm saying panties a lot in this review, by the way ) Shes a challenge that Rhys has not had for a while. And Saffron knows about Mr. Rhys reputation, she doesn't want to be another chick that he just fucks.
So of course you can already tell what's going to happen. They play cat and mouse and makes the book go steamy by their connection that you can light a match to.
Not going to tell you the rest cause then it will just ruin the whole damn book. You would just have to read it to find out.
I know I am a tease when it comes to all this hotness in this book.
But overall I love this book. It's not the same thing that you read about, it takes you somewhere different. There are other super natural beings in it also. What it kind of reminded me of as for the super natural is, Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark super natural creators. But totally different. If I wasn't use to this type of creators then this is a great way to introduce me to it. It brought out more in the story then just a band on tour. Brings the story to life and sucks you in and won't let you go till the end.
I am very looking forward to more of this series. I can't wait to read about Winter. Oh yes, Winter is going to be good I have a feeling.
I was given a copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review
I don't even know where to start with this book. First of all, let me say, I did not take into account the numerous grammatical errors while considering my rating. Although I have to admit, not knowing the difference between your and you're is a huge pet peeve of mine and I cringed at the many times I saw the misuse of your.
First of all, the whole paranormal aspect of the book just DID NOT WORK. I didn't hate the characters so the story may have worked better without it or if the author really felt it necessary to keep it, it would need to be reworked. The way it was introduced to Saffron that Rhys could see the dead and the way she just accepted it like learning Rhys was dyslexic or something was totally unbelievable. This is just a start as to what was wrong with whole that story line.
Here's another thing that really put me off....Dante was the only British character and a good portion of jargon used was English and not American. Also, the terminology used by saying 'gods' instead of 'God' was utterly ridiculous. I get what author was trying to get at by using it that way but it just looked stupid. Nobody says "gods", so oh my God it sounded really out of place.
I really appreciated the opportunity to read this book and based on the synopsis and cover, I had high hopes but it just didn't deliver for me.
First off I must start with this cover. When I saw it, I was like heck yea Ill read this book. It's a cover meant for me. I'm a big music junkie and love the concert/festival scenes, so seeing that portrayed on this cover was a win for me. Then the colors, graphics and fonts really did come together in a badass way. Its a rockstar kind of cover. So kuddos to the person(s) behind the design.
I was excited to know that Giving Up the Ghost was being considered New Adult. I've been on this New Adult cloud that just won't come down back to earth. So I jumped right in and began reading. I did have to take a forced break due to a review that was due for another book on a blog tour but then I picked this one back up pronto. Didn't stop until I was done with it. Giving Up the Ghost did something that no other book has made me do, I was reading one of the witty lines that Rhys' character says and it made me actual spit my drink out from LOL'ing and blush at the same time. One of my favorite lines ever. I wished I could share it but I can't since I try and keep things PG-13 at least on the site with reviews. Let's just say it refers to a lollipop type comment. Saffron had no chance after that. S.A. Price nailed it for me in this book with the story and its constant banter between Saffron and Rhys. It got real saucy up in those pages. Honestly this is why I really love New Adult, because you have the same concept/feel as YA books but the authors don't have to hold back or fade to black in the saucy parts. I can sit here all day and just name scene after scene that I loved about this book. There is a dance between Saffron and Rhys, Oh man was that a great piece to read. I enjoyed also reading about Saffron's rockstar attire. Then how Saffron described how it felt to hear Rhys sing in his concerts, its like you are there with her listening and feeling the impact of his songs. Such a great book if you are a fan of romance, music, sauciness and ghost.
I like how this book began, its middle and its ending. Just when you thought it was getting predictable, it would complete turn its course on ya. Any fan of New Adult or Adult reading will enjoy this book. S.A. Price took real experiences and infused them into the pages of Giving Up the Ghost which made for a great realistic read even with the ghost involved. Giving Up the Ghost is a Rockstar of a read. I can't wait for book 2 on Winter's (Phaedra brother).
Wow where to begin on a such a good book. When I first heard about this book, I knew it was going to be good. I mean come on a sexy rock star who is still passionate about a lost love. A man so broken he can't love again, or can he? A little paranormal twist thrown in and you have success!
The first time Rhys sees Saffron he is so taken by her looks. Rhys plans to bed her at first chance, what he doesn't plan for is how much work it was going to take to get there, or where it would all lead in the end. Still hurting over his lost fiance, Rhys beds anything that walks his way. No woman has ever said no to him until he meets Saffron. She could not care less about what he has to offer, so different from any other women he has met before. That sparks an interest and a fire in him; the game of seduction, one he has not played in a very long time, but one he plans to win at all cost.
I love the sauciness of Saffron! That girls takes no crap from anyone and she has a set on her bigger than most men. Saff is bold and wild and knows how to get her way. She never backs down from a challenge even if it means bearing it all. So happy to finally get a big job in the business, she plans to let nothing get in her way of making a name for herself, but when she sees Rhys for the first time, she knows its not going to be easy to stay away from this man or his bed. Even with the connection she feels with Rhys, she wants more than to be another girl in a long line of groupies, so she sets out to keep him at bay. Which ignites a game she can't win.
I was hooked on this book the second Saffron walked into a sound check and saw Rhys in person for the first time. Once he was off stage the connection between them just sparked out of control. The game of seduction that Rhys plays to get her in his bed was just amazing! I loved the way he set to getting her where he wanted her. Some of the scenes were HOT!!!! For example, I will never look at a dance floor the same lol.
Overall this was an amazing book. Great lead characters and supporting characters. A great realistic glimpse into the world on the road with a rock band, with a paranormal twist. Just when you think all is good and happily ever after the story changes and I liked that little bounce back and forth. It keeps you engaged and interested. If you like sexy men who know how to please a woman, and a leading lady who knows how to fight for what is right, you have to check this book out!
I received this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you S.A Price.
First of all I’m going to say that this is the hardest review I’ve ever written. I’ve given it 3 stars, but I really wanted to give it more.
The very first thing that put me off a little when I began reading this book was that it was really confusing. I didn’t know who was talking at times and had to skip back to re-read passages. Also, during the first chapter alone we are either introduced to or the main character speaks about 6 characters. It’s a lot to take in, especially when there’s a Rhys, Randy and Reemus. I didn’t know who was who, and not to mention the paranormal side of things that gets thrown in there. I just found it all too much for the first chapter.
Going back to the characters. I have to admit that I found the second character Nyx far more likable then either of the main characters (Rhys of Saffron). The other thing that didn’t quite sit right for me was all the strange names. I’m all for a quirky name but there was just too many of them in there for me (Nyx, Pheadra, Saffron, X - Xxieda, Winter, Randy, Renatta). There were too many ‘R’s and if their first name didn’t begin with R then their surname did Xxieda Rolla. Also, I needed to know more about Pheadra. I don’t want to give too much away about the story line but I found myself with lots of questions about her that didn’t get answered.
I’m going to get all of the negative things out of the way so I have to say that the amount of grammatical/editing errors that I came across made it difficult to read. I’m not sure if I was given an advanced copy or not, but I really wanted to get a red pen to it and correct things.
On the flip side, I like the concept of the story and the cover was perfect for it. It was a fast paced read (perhaps some people will say it’s too fast), but I kind of like that. If a few more bits had been included so I wasn’t left with lots of questions that I would have scored it higher.
I liked that it felt normal. I liked that the conversations would just how I imagined it to be if you’re involved in that sort of scene.
All in all I think it was good, but could have been amazing. If you want to read a fast-paced book with a cool, hot guy who’s in a band then this is the book for you!
I really fell in love with this story and the two main characters right away. Rhys is the lead singer of the very successful 13 Shades of Red band and can pretty much have any woman he wants. For a while he had kept himself boozed up constantly and hooked up with more women then he can count. But, this is all just on the surface of who he really is because he does have a much softer side to him. Saffron is a beautiful smart strong character that knows what she wants and doesn’t take crap from anyone. The job of tour manager for the 13 Shades of Red band falls into her lap after a very untimely death with their current manager. There was instant attraction for these two and great sexual tension since Saff was off limits to Rhys. She tried to fight her feeling for him and guard her heart but to no avail. Rhys and Saff are the kind of characters you wish the best for because they have such good hearts but it always seems that they always get the bad end of the stick not matter how much they try. The great thing about this book is that the paranormal aspect of the story doesn’t over power the heart of the love story. It’s a perfect balance between reality and fantasy. The only thing I felt lacking was the fight scene and the only reason I say that is because I really really really dislike Phaedra and wanted a lot more too happen to her. Either way it all ending perfectly and I can’t wait to see what is in store for the next book which I hope is going to be Winter and Lola’s book. That is going to be one intense story!
ARC provided by author for honest review. Thank you
a solid 3.5 from me :)
I really loved Rhys ( a sensitive to the dead and helps them pass -even has a pet dead cat lol) and Saffron (really cool chick). I actually liked all the characters in this book minus the dead x-gf
There is all kinds of paranormal in this book from a good old haunting to witches and demons. Dead x sex, the whole ball of wax.
The supporting cast in the book all have some sort of power(s) minus one member of the band and Saff.
Rhys and Saffron have a really nice relationship. His x died so he is the tortured artist. All the bands music comes from his hurt over losing her. Then Saffron is hired as the bands new manager and Rhys thinks he can actually be happy....
Rhys finally sees a woman in Saffron that he thinks he can have a relationship (an earthly one) with but will the cold dead x let him?? Does she want him to be happy while she is dead? Worth the read to find out.
There was a lot of British in this book that confused me a little and I could of used more sex (between Rhys and Saff) but I'm a smut lover..
I thought this book was put together really well and I loved the play list.
This was a really good story. I felt there was a combination of the supernatural & an intense attraction that does end up to be more. Saffron and Rhys fall for each other quickly, and there are some sex scenes, just to let you know, and past all that, I think there was a hint of more than that fast pace lusty attraction. There is the fact that Rhys's deceased fiance, tries to haunt Saffron, and basically discourage her from being with Rhys, so does it work? There's also the fact that Rhys is part of a successful band, and that environment was mentioned quite well. The supernatural effect was explained all right; I was just a little confused at times, in terms of how the deceased fiance tries to get back. All in all, this was a good New Adult story, and I look forward to reading the next book.
My Rating: 3.8/5 R-Rated! (Some Mature Language & Sexual Content)
The chemistry between Rhys and Saffron was amazing. I couldn't put this book down and can't wait for the next book.
Its difficult making a relationship work, even more difficult if your a rock star, then throw in the fact Rhys' dead ex is trying to break up the relationship and this roller coaster ride has a lot of twists and turns. Did I mention that Rhys can talk to dead people? I kept turning the page to find out if Rhys and Saff would find their HEA. I loved that the band was from New Orleans and the final show in their hometown provided a great setting.
A couple of Demons, a Goddess, a few ghosts and some really hot sex made this an excellent read!
Review: WARNING: This book is intended for an adult audience, 18 or older. Saffron Richards may have just gotten in over her head in taking on a gig with an up and coming band who's lead singer is known as a love'em and leave kinda guy. Then again, that is the reputation put on by Rhys Bellamy. After losing the only woman he'll ever love, Rhys goes on a trip of self pity and refuses to emerge... well that is until he meets his new band manager, Saffron. Rhys has this special ability about him that Saffron learns about and trust me, it's not just in his pants. ;) haha! When she realizes things that go bump in the night are real, her world is turned upside down in this roller coaster ride of emotions, sex and ghosts! Rock 'n Roll meets Paranormal in this exciting, cutting edge paranormal thriller! It had me on the edge of my seat and I found myself thinking about this book often. Tell me that's not a great story! I also found myself wondering about Winter and I'm looking forward to reading more about him! If you're into ghosts, demons and paranormal stuff... and maybe have a taste for the bad-boy rock'n roll band, then go pick up Giving Up the Ghost today!
WARNING: This book contains an egotistical rockstar, a tough as nails tour manager, magic, mayhem, a witchy boss and her demon of a boyfriend and a ghost that cant let go. It is intended for reader 17 and over.
3 stars - A fabulous premise that mixes rock bands and ghosts!
When I was asked to read/review this book, I jumped at the chance. I've been reading a lot of rock band books with hot rockers trying to figure out their heart and the thought of adding a ghost issue to that was exciting. I wish I'd like it more.
The story breaks into the tale of two worlds for me. One world is the rocker band scene with a young unknown tour manager trying to prove herself. Though she feels the attraction to the lead singer, she can't act on it. She needs this job to make her big break in the industry she loves. Yeah, she has some experience but not A Thirteen Shades of Red experience. This could make it for her. So not ruining that. But her indifference to the lead singer, Rhys, is so not what he expects from a hot chick. He is in hot pursuit and fast. That sounds like the making of an interesting rocker book, right? Then add the other world. Lead singer, Ryhs Bellamy, is also a medium. He talks to ghosts. He has a mentor, his grandfather, who guides him. Trouble is the only ghost he's ever wanted to talk to is his dead fiancee but she's a no show. That sounds like an interesting paranormal read, right? I expected putting the two together would be awesome. The crafting of them together just didn't work for me, though. I think my expectations were too high.
The two world were kept apart too much for my taste. I'm a HUGE urban fantasy fan and I love it when an author can weave a story between two world that doesn't have me forgetting I'm in one while I'm in the other. This story lacked that for me.
The rocker story was hot and fun.
The paranormal story was interesting.
They just didn't weave together the way I wanted them to.
I liked the characters okay. Saffron is a tough one, have to be to work in the rocker field. She stands up to Ryhs and others with some surprising balls. I enjoyed the relationship she had with Ryhs. I loved that she really did mend his broken heart. And I did like Ryhs. His reaction to having his charms ignored was typical for a rock star. None-the-less it was cute. I enjoyed that part.
It's a fast read. Read it in a day.
If you haven't read a lot of rocker stories lately and you do like the paranormal scene, then this one may be a good pick for you. I may have read too many rocker stories lately and/or a lot of perfect urban fantasy world for this one to work for me.
Seeing ghosts isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Especially when the one ghost you want to see doesn’t want you to see her. Rhys has always known he could see ghosts and sometimes that helps him out, but other times it makes his life harder. When his girlfriend died in a car accident, all he wants to do is see her again. When she doesn’t let that happen he heads into a down whirl spiral of drinking constantly. All of that seems to change when Saffron joins the tour.
Not wanting to screw up her shot at the big time, Saffron joins that 13 Shades of Red tour as the new manager. Believing she is completely up for the task she sets out there with one mission, to do her best at the job. She didn’t expect to have sparks fly between her and Rhys though. But sometimes you can’t help yourself when it comes to the attraction you have for someone.
When the sparks start flying between Rhys and Saffron, and things are going great, that’s when his ex, Phaedra, makes her comeback. Desperate to keep them apart, Phaedra waits until Halloween and then tries to ruin the new relationship that is happening.
Will their newfound love be able to last when there is a vengeful ghost after them? Or will Phaedra be able to keep Rhys for herself, even though she’s already dead?
After reading You Burn Me, I had high hopes for this book, and this book was able to surpass those hopes!! I really enjoyed being able to find out more about Rhys, because he was hinted at in You Burn Me, and find out what his story was. I also enjoyed how down to earth Saffron’s character was written.
There are two things that I have completely loved with this book, the first one is, Yes Rhys can talk to ghosts, and we know this. But during the book, it’s not slammed in your face constantly that he is a medium. There are a few times that it is shown him talking to the undead. I really enjoyed how in this book we got to know him for who he is, not just his power.
The second thing that I enjoyed is that although there are other people with powers in this book, you are only given hints as to what their powers are. So there isn’t an overkill of information that is given about the different types of paranormal powers that everyone has.
All in all I have to say, that I completely enjoyed this book, and I am really happy that I read it. And I can’t wait for the next book to come out!!
When the bands current tour manager ODs, Saffron Richards is brought in to finish up the tour. She can't believe her luck and knows this will be her shot to the big leagues. She's good at what she does, and all she has to do to keep her job is avoid Rhys and not give in to his charm, which is proving impossible. Rhys is used to getting what he wants, and when Saffron doesn't immediately give in to him, he finds he enjoys the challenge. Saffron knows his reputation, and knows how life on the road works, relationships with rock stars never work out. Will she give in to Rhys? Could Saffron be the girl to finally make Rhys truly happy? Will Phaedra even allow it?
This was a great story. I've read a lot of rock star books, but the paranormal twist brought me in. And I loved the lyric snippets at the beginning of each chapter - a lot of them were from some of my favorite bands. The writers have a way of making you feel what the characters are feeling and clearly knows how the tour life really is - it's not all glitz and glamour. I would like to know a little bit more about what exactly happened to Phaedra in the beginning, but all in all I really liked the book. I'm looking forward to more from the band!
If the sexy cover did not intrigue you into getting this book, then maybe this will (but seriously? how did you not droool over that cover!?)
Rhys is man mending from a self-desstructive path of drinking, using and women, and the icing on the cake? He sees ghosts.
Rhys is recovering from his past, that haunts him. No, it literally does haunt him, his deceased girlfriend is a complete [excuse-my-language] bitch! Phaedra is an evil, selfish, spoiled little girl. She is so self-centered, she wants Rhys to suffer forever. She wants him to be in misery and to never move on and forget her, so when he falls in love with Saffron? Watch out, the bitch is loose! Phaedra tries to intimidate Saffron and wants her to go away and never come back.
Saffron is soo awesome, she is this kick-ass, in your face, badass woman. She totally rocks, I love her confidence, her attitude, her way of life and the way she views thinks, her perspective is so refreshing for a character. Saffron have to make a hard choice fight an evil, haunting ghost for Rhys or leave and stay out the whole bloody mess. Tough, huh? It becomes even more complicated when, Phaedra uses dirty tricks to confuse Rhys and tricks him into making a mistake that could cost him, his relationship with Saffron, then there is the whole she is his manager and him being her client.
Drama. Love. Trust. Paranormal Element. Evil Bitches. This book have it all, everything you need to make a great book! Definitely recommended.
*I received this book to review, for my honest opinion.*
I highly recommend this book it truly had me hooked from the very first page. The storyline flowed and you felt like you were right there with the characters.
Rhys Bellamy is 'sex on legs' and the front man for 13 Shades of Red better known to most as 'Shades'. He has a gift of sorts in that he see the dead. Rhys has spent most of the time since the tragic loss of his girlfriend Phaedra in a drunkard stupor that was until the sexy demon Dante the partner of his producer XXieda pays him a visit and offers him a less than pleasurable alternative if he continues to screw his and everyone's lives up on their first full blown US tour.
Saffron has worked her way up in the industry she has even recently manger three bands on tour. When Saffron get an email from XXieda offering her the job as the manger of the Shades she thinks it must be a joke. She knows about this band and she also knows about the trouble that have plagued their lead singer Rhys.
When Saffron arrives as the bands new manager Rhys is pulled to her and Saffron is surprised to see he is sober. Saffron knows she also has a connection to Rhys but not understanding what is happening and determined not to be another notch in his belt Saffron is determined to keep it business. After a memorable encounter on the dance floor all bets are off Rhys knows that Saffron is connected to him the same way he knows he is to her but they will have more to contend with than just each other cause lurking in the background and ready to pounce is the ghost of the girlfriend past.
**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**
There were many things I liked about this story. I really liked both Saffron and Rhys, the main characters. Rhys is a hella hot rock star and Saffron is a no nonsense tour manager. I liked how these two characters came together, and let's face it, the sex scenes were scorching. I also enjoyed the paranormal aspect of the story(not going into this too much, as I don't want to spoil it). The ending and epilogue fell a little flat, I personally enjoy when epilogues fast forward a little farther than the next day, but that's just me. Overall, I really enjoyed this book.
Now, there were a few things that bugged me. The first was the excessive grammatical errors. This in particular doesn't affect my overall rating because even though I am pretty certain this isn't an advanced copy that I received(the book states it was released in February and I just received mine a few days ago)I am hoping that this is not the final product being sold on Amazon. The second problem I have with this book is the dialect. The book takes place in The United States, And there is no mention of the characters having come from other countries, yet the characters use slang that sounds English and even possibly Australian. It threw me off a few times and I had to Google some of these terms. I just didn't get the changeup of dialect.
All in all, I was pleased with this story. I found the characters engaging and for the most part very likable. I would definitely be interested in seeing more of these characters.
This story has a lot going for it: ghosts, demons, sexy rock stars, groupies, and a ballsy heroine. A unique and brazen tale, it's a ghoulish carnival on a tour bus. But there's nothing spooky or hair-raising here. The paranormal elements never dip below a peripheral view. There's no explanation for the supernaturals, no mention of how many there are in this fictional world, yet all but one member of the band are "special". There's no otherworld-building. You just have to accept that everyone has a weird name and an even weirder power.
Saffron is a take-no-shit heroine, but you might find her stoicism hollows her emotional core, leaving her somewhat flat. Still, her immunity to jealousy and hurt feelings is often admirable.
The first half is a delightfully sexy read, one I couldn't put down. It builds and builds then...fizzles. There's a thin listlessness about the climax. The characters could've been yawning through it. But the plot as a whole is a brilliant concept, breaking uncharted ground and shoving cliches aside with its feisty characters.
I really wanted to give it four stars, but the profusion of grammatical issues was a weary distraction. If it was edited, I would recommend it for paranormal/rock star romance lovers.
4 star review of Giving Up the Ghost (13 Shades of Red #1) by S.A. Price
This was a new author to me and a genre that I have not read a lot of. Initially I was a little lost, but I quickly became involved. I really enjoyed this book.
Enter Saffron Richards who is hired to manage the band. She is determined to avoid the serial ladies man and concentrate on her job only, but she doesn’t count on the insane attraction that she feels for the tortured Rhys nor the fact that the attraction is mutual.
I enjoyed the interaction of the two main characters . The sex between these two was hot and erotic and the paranormal twist that was woven throughout the story kept me reading to see what was going to happen next.
I look forward to reading more from S.A. Price and to be honest I am rather anxious to see what happens to the other members of the band.
Wow, loved this one! Rhys is a sexy rock god. Saffron just landed her dream job - to manage an up-and-coming rock band. She MUST stay away from Rhys. Unfortunately, Rhys has never met a challenge he couldn't win. Definitely New Adult!
This story is so well done! The chemistry between Rhys and Saffron (Saff) is so real and strong it's almost palpable. Their banter is easy to shift between and funny. They play off each other and it's not stilted or awkward.
The paranormal undercurrent isn't even a distraction (when it so easily could be!). It gives it just the flare to make this story stand out as unique and original. The pace of the story is easy to read & keeps the pages turning.
The only distraction were the typos, and with a story this great - it's easy to ignore them!
I'm so thankful to for sharing this story with me in exchange for an honest review. Because I honestly loved it!
Paranormal books are not usually my style, in fact I would say I go out of my way not to read them. However this book caught my eye as a teaser for long hard winter was shown on one of the FB blogs I follow which I thought looked brilliant and therefore went in search of this! I've got to say it held my attention from the first chapter And the paranormal stuff enhanced the book rather than taking over. I was that caught up in the story that I have just sat an read it straight through :) the main man Rhys is HOT but not made out to be Adonis by which I mean not rippling and totally unbelievable which in my mind made the man hotter. Okay there were some typos in my copy but I'm not one to down grade a book due to that (there's probably loads in this review) so for me this book was brilliant. Totally recommended and a must read, see for yourself is all I can say! Can't wait for long hard winter
* I received this book in exchange for an honest opinion. *
Okay, I think I would have to give this book 2.5 stars. I liked the concept of the story and the characters, especially Nyx. It was a fun, fast-paced read, and I liked the romance between Rhys and Saffron, although at times the book was bordering on erotic. There were a few things that bugged me too. The main one was the amount of grammatical and editing errors. I feel like someone should have caught a lot of this before the final version of the book. I also felt that some things were not explained well, like what actually happened to Phaedra that made Rhys feel so guilty, and what are the special gifts of some of the characters. I would have liked to know what their abilities were. Maybe this could have been developed a little better.
A combination of contemporary and paranormal romance, this unique story about Rhys, the gorgeous lead singer of a popular band is exciting and fun. The cast of characters that the author has created have their own little quirks that give the story depth and add humor. The relationships that develop between Rhys, his new manager Saffron and his ex, Phaedra, are explosive and passionate, creating great sexual tension throughout the book. All of the paranormal oddities in the story are brilliantly blended with a true to life setting, making the story not only believable, but relatable as well. This was one of my first new adult experiences, and after reading this, it definitely won’t be my last.
I was provided a copy of the book by BTS eMag for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review all conclusions are my own responsibility.
Wow is all I can say about this book . The energy just pours off the page. The attraction between Rhys and Saffron is so hot . It could scorch you . What do you get when you have a witch record producer, her demon lover . A band that is made up of a guy who can see dead people, a demon, and humans . You get a hot rocking book .Saffron is sent to take over tour manager duties for a hot wildly successful band 13 shades of red. Where she meets and fall for the sexy , and I mean sexy, Cajun . Rhys Bellamy . Together they combat the memory of the love hat has been hanging over his head . This book will have you hooked from the very first page . I reccommend this book . S.a price is an author to watch in the future
Really good book. Once I really had the time to sit down with it, I finished it up in a day. The story is sexy & true to life for anyone who has spent any time with band boys. The heroine is strong, the hero sexy as hell, and the story moves along at a great pace. Only a couple of things that I could think of to make it better. One is to actually let us know what "the accident" was that happened to Rhys' ex that he was supposedly responsible for. It would give us a clearer image as to why Phaedra is so vengeful. Second is get a better editor! I absolutely adore the authors' writing, but there are typos on every page, almost, that really take away from the enjoyment of the story. These could easily be fixed with a better editor & I'd be more willing to give 5 stars.
Really enjoyed this book. The whole dynamics of almost everyone in the band or surrounding the band having other abilities really had me. I liked the fact that it took a certain kind of woman for Rhys to realize that the person who he thought he loved never really loved him in the first place. Saff tried her hardest to fight off her attraction to Rhy but really come on who can deny a hot rocker. I look forward to more more this group because I would like to see where everyone ends up at.
Giving up the Ghost is a story about Rhys the super sexy lead vocals in a rock band and Saffron a hungry super strong woman trying to make it in the rock business. I loved everything about this book from the amazing book cover to the sexy hot love scenes to the rock and roll vibe. I don't like to give spoilers so if you love Paranormal Romance and Rock and Roll you will love this book.
A good story! I really liked the MCs. I was slightly disappointed that Saffron gave it up so quickly to Rhys (I thought her character was a lot stronger and should have been able to resist him a little longer) since her job may have been on the line!!
Loved the rock star story. The writer being behind the emotions made you feel it even more deeply than just another story. Her personal experience of following bands made it come alive. I loved the supernatural parts of the story too, and I am looking forward to more of them.
Great read. Saff the inspiration that everyone strives to be like, strong independent and fights for what she believes in and Rhys (swoon)what more can I say, definitely a re read highly recommended
