Cosmos' Gateway #4

Cosmos' Promise

Rate this book
Cosmos Raines is considered to be one of the most brilliant inventors in the world. A prodigy, he is a self-made billionaire who would rather be in his lab than jet-setting around the world. Things change when his latest experiment literally opens a Gateway into a whole new world. Now, not only has his best friend and her family moved to a new star system through the Gateway he has opened but he finds himself with a warehouse full of alien guests, including one very aggravating female that has turned him inside out.

Terra ‘Tag Krell Manok has spent her life in the shadows of her three older brothers. Her home world of Baade is a male dominated world where females are few in numbers and protected to the point of captivity. Terra’s father is the high chancellor of the Prime and considered to be the fiercest warrior of their world next to her brothers. No one defies him and lives. Terra is surprised when her father suddenly sends her through the Gateway into hiding to protect her from a clan insisting that she be mated for political purposes. The last thing she expects to find there is her bond mate - in the form of a human male!

Cosmos may not have been expecting to find the woman of his dreams on the other side of the Gateway he built but he knows one thing for sure - no one is going to take her away from him - not the clan who wants to use her nor her father who thinks all human males are worthless.

When she is taken from him, he will use every bit of his intelligence and ingenuity to not only track her down but steal her back. He will prove that human males are just as much a warrior as a Prime one, especially when it involves the woman he loves.

Cosmos Promise by S. E. Smith
4th book in the Cosmos Gateway series. Science fiction romance with erotica elements. Can be read as a stand-alone but better as part of the series.
The gateway the Cosmos built has had aliens back and forth from their world to earth and back finding forever mates for the Warrior’s of Baade. It’s Cosmos turn and Terra doesn’t care that her father thinks earthlings aren’t worthy of his daughter.

An entertaining and sexy adventure for Cosmos and a virgin Terra. The Warriors fight the bad Russians and rescue the imprisoned maidens.

Another good installment in the series. Cosmos, the genius behind the gateway, knows that Terra Krell Manok is his mate and it's just a matter of time before he seals the deal and claims her. The problem? She's an alien in a family of over protective alpha warrior guys. He'll have to use all the tools at his disposal including RITA to claim her without being on the receiving end of her father and brothers displeasure.

This installment in the series FINALLY gives the creator of the technology that opened a portal to an alien planet his mate. This was a fun sci fi read that geeks who love gizmos and gadgets will enjoy as Cosmos pulls out so many technological creations it made my head spin. Need a transport that adapts from road to air to under water? It's in here. Sensors to map out a building? Here. Contacts with constant update read outs for all your needs? Got it covered. A personal protective body armour suit to beat anything ever seen before? Cosmos has created it. Portal to travel long distances instantly? Yup, that's here too. And of course a new form of holographic imaging that is in the works and may be revealed in this book. All in all more sci fi action adventure than romance. But don't get me wrong. The love interest between the central characters is featured with some yummy adult content scenes to curl your toes. And twists and turns that are trademark for this author.

My one issue, and I can't seem to get over it, is that this side of Cosmos has the same effect that the scene from the "Dallas" series shower scene with Bobby Ewing did. Everything I've been lead to believe about Cosmos from the previous books is not consistent with the Cosmos of this book. Just sayin.

The author has added a bunch of new characters so I'm happy there will be more installments in this series. Not so sure I'm appreciating that she has put in a bunch of guys who I won't be able to read about for a while though. The wait is gonna drive me crazy.......

Qué cosita más sexy resultó ser Cosmos. No solo por su físico sino por su cerebro. Jesús, el hombre es un genio .
No me esperaba lo de Adam Rainers. Se me aguaron los ojos con su triste final.
Me encantó la historia.

After my enjoyment of the last book, Tansy's Titan, I was really looking forward to see what would happen with Cosmos. The last book had strongly hinted at Cosmos and Terra being bond mates, so I was eager to see what/how it would happen.

As Terra is a female from Baade, I was a little bit surprised at how fiesty she was. After all, she is from a male dominated society that has so few females, they are looking outside their own species for mates. Of course, she also had an older brother who taught her to defend herself, so that helped to strengthen her spine.

Cosmos on the other hand, was a bit of a shock. We had only really seen him through the eyes of the Bell females. They saw him as a tech geek who had some dough due to his inventions. But once we get into the story we actually find out he is more a cross between Batman and Iron Man, with his money, his gadgets and his fighting abilities... What's the male version of the Mary Sue? Okay, so he wasn't, but there were moments I as just like, "of course he did. *sigh*"

Overall this was a pretty good book. It gave us more insight into the world of Baade, and moved the story arc ahead. I just wish Cosmos hadn't been so damn perfect. He really needed a few more flaws to make him a more rounded character. I gave this book 3 stars.

Audiobook Jukebox and Blackstone Audio provided me with this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Cosmos won my heart, body and soul. . .

Cosmos had much to prove to his new adopted family-in-laws. The one woman that marked his heart had much to receive. She was all that he never knew he was wanting. She was his everything. Cosmos had much to endure in this adventure of his life. He had to save his girl, conquer an island, stand-up to her family (males), take down a couple bad guys, secure his future and fight for his life, oh yeah and find a specific chemical. All this was done in a way that only Cosmos could fashion. This was an adventure full of action, romance, and self-determination.

Terra had to be sent to another world just to be safe. She never dreamed that she would find her mate or that he would be human. Something that her father would not stand for. She never thought her father would exile her either. Not one but twice. The second time he may never get her back.

S.E. Smith has most certainly done it again. Cosmos' Gateway series has earned its place in my heart and future reads list. Earth men have much to offer when the woman they love or loved ones are in danger.

Narration was just perfect. Suzanne Elise Freeman has set a tone for the series and I do hope she continues on. She has made her mark on this series and no one else will bring it justice.

another S.E. rollercoaster of a story

Although I enjoy all her books, the Cosmos Gateway series has a special place in my thoughts and heart as Tink's Wonderland was the first S.E. story that I read. Meeting Tink and RITA and those prime warriors, I was hooked. Any spelling errors, word choices, grammar etc were heavily outweighed by the story and characters presented in Tink's Wonderland. The author's writing skills have grown with each book without losing the soul of the unfolding story.

Cosmos' Promise continues the story of the Baade Prime Warriors and their interactions with earth, with the focus on revealing more of Cosmos and Terra's plans, thoughts and emotions and showing that they are really meant for each other.

All the old favorites are back and as always, we get glimpses of other potential tales, either as a short story or novel - Runt, Avery, Rico, Garrett to name a few. Merrick's book is already planned and eagerly awaited.

My desire to take time to savor the story and characters was derailed by my need to know more NOW once I started reading. Oh well, re-reading is fun too.

Surabondance de personnages ! ! ! !

Even though the name of this series is "Cosmos'Gateway" a lot of the focus has been on the Prime Warriors from a faraway galaxy and the women that they are meeting and bonding with. This time, things are a little different. Cosmos is the brilliant inventor who is responsible for the creation of the portals and a whole lot of other fascinating inventions that make this entire series possible. Unfortunately, there is a VERY personal attack on Cosmos and his family and it takes things in a completely different direction.

Up until now, the Warriors have not really seen too much from Cosmos as he has stayed a bit in the background. Things change when he not only meets his bond mate, but he is put in a situation where lives of the people he loves are at stake.

We get to see a WHOLE new Cosmos (or maybe, I think it is fair to say that he finally gets to show us the man he has always been).

This one was a hard one as there are emotional losses and it is always hard to watch a character that you have come to like and admire go through difficult times. But, as always, the story arc keeps us in suspense while at the same time keeping the action non stop.

I am not sure if I have mentioned this before, but I am listening to each of these books in the audio format and the narration has been great. The variation in character voices and distinctiveness of each character makes listening a breeze.

Gotta go now - it seems we having a missing Merrick to find....

Tara is sent from her planet to Earth to live with Cosmos for her protection. The problem is that Tara and Cosmos discovered that they are mates. They both fight it until danger stalks them on earth. When Tara's father comes with warriors to help Cosmos he forbids them from being together. Her father then places her on a prison-like island on their planet. The island is where the females are placed to "protect" them from warriors who will take them against the women's will.
Cosmos must rescue Tara as well as find and fight the evil men that are after him on Earth.
This story is more adventurous than the previous titles in this series. I liked getting to know Cosmos better. Both of them are individuals who care for others.

I stumbled across this series by accident and I’m so grateful that I did! I love the strong sisters Tink, Hannah and Tansy and their sexy alien mates. But now their dear friend and protector, Cosmos gets his own adventure, too.
You know he’s brilliant and a multi-millionaire. He’s loving and sweet, too.
He builds a gateway to another planet and each character that steps through finds love waiting. But when Terra, the beautiful young sister steps through so that Cosmos can protect her, he wants to keep her forever. Of course things are never that easy.
You’ll have to read the book to find out what happens. And if you haven’t read the previous books in the series, make sure you start with them and read them in order to get every bit of enjoyment out of them.

In the other books of this series, the alien was always the male character. This particular book stands out because the alien is actually the female character. Several things to love about book 4. On Baade the women are not viewed as women of strength. They are few and should always be protected by strong PRIME males until they are bonded. Terra is sent away to protect her from the unbonded males who are desperate to find their bondmates. The aliens view the human males as weak and bad. Cosmos has to prove that even though he is human, he will go through great lengths to protect Terra and thereby earns the respect and trust of the PRIMES. I enjoyed the fact that both Cosmos and Terra were both more than what they appeared and that together they were unbreakable.

I'm DNFing at 12%

My reasons are:
- The narrator really doesn't work for... To the point it has taken 3 months for me to listen to 1 hour worth of book
- I'm a little confused by what is happening and who everyone is. This is definitely not a series you can jump into at book 4

I've purely given it 1 stars for the above reasons. Perhaps if I was familiar with this series and had chosen to read Cosmos' Promise rather than listen to it the rating could be vastly different.

Cosmo is not you average multibillionaire. He is just amazing and smart. He is the person that you would love to have your back no matter what trouble that you are in. Tara is simply amazing and I am glad that we got to see her kick-ass side that her brother Mak taught her. I love them together and I cannot to see more of them. I am pretty sure that her and Cosmo can take over the universe if they are incline to.

My interest continues to fade. I want to like these, but I keep hoping the writing and storytelling will improve and it honestly doesn’t. Still getting huge info dumps at the start of every book, lots of telling, and too much backstory. The gap on world building and character development seems to get deeper with each new book. I think it’s just time for me to move on to something more polished.

Very cute. I like how there was more resolution. There's A LOT of names and people though so it was a bit difficult to slog through who was mated to who and where they were and what they were doing. However, I did like Cosmo and Terra and appreciated the emotional nuance of the overall story. The next book will probably, hopefully, be a little more exciting with Merrick's chase. While there are a lot of characters, they're all fun and unique. I look forward to reading more!

Fun To Read 5+*

This book was so much fun to read. Nonstop entertainment with a very well written storyline. You will fall in love with all of the characters especially the ones that are not so real. You are definitely going to want one of those Prime Warriors for yourself. Loved the story and I strongly recommend the entire series.

The inventions!

Another exciting SciFi story, with good winning over evil.
The inventor a human male has finally found his bondmate an Alien from a planet far away. It can only be reached by a portal which Cosmos invented. The human friends he has have all met their mates from this planet as well. I hope there are more stories in this series.

Without a doubt my least favorite of all her books, but in this series it was a necessary bridge to continue the series...new plots, new characters, all introduced or fleshed out here. So this remains one of my favorite series.

Cosmos' Promise

Full of action, adventure and plenty of romance. Cosmo never thought after making the gateway he would find the women for him. Terre never thought a human would be her bond mate. Now to convince her father that Cosmo is the man for her.

I love this series, and this book started promising. But after a while the story went on and on, and every time I thought I was at the end, there came yet again another chapter.
** spoiler **
apparently the story must go on until there is offspring.

Ok. The books in this series are getting more and more ridiculous, and a bit repetitive.
