"Chynna Lennox? A sleuth?? Yeah, right"

An unlikely one, at best. It's not enough for a girl to stay sober, manage a rock band of eclectic musicians and keep limber behind the drumkit. But when she discovers DaKota Gibson, her lead guitarist and former lover, murdered, Chynna wants answers. She grudgingly turns to former boyslug and newspaper narcissist, Christian Snevley, to quietly snoop around, hoping to unmask DaKota's killer before Lead Detective Gralewski sticks Chynna with a murder charge and has her fitted for an orange jumpsuit.

But then Chynna's step-brother vanishes, a mysterious woman keeps appearing in all the wrong places and a near fatal accident leaves the snarky redhead with physical challenges she never imagined. Through the painful recovery process, friends new and old rally at her side. There's just one problem. The killer is still on the loose and Gralewski is waiting in the wings for her release. A true Scorpio remains undaunted and Chynna pushes herself closer to unmasking unimaginable secrets from DaKota's past, secrets that reveal a frightening web of Twisted Ties...

I would encourage readers to have a backbone of they are going to read this novel. There are some pretty shocking and stunning elements to this book, and it is not for the weak at heart--but it is a great book!

This being said, this novel is definitely one of the most original stories I have seen in a long while. The characters speak for themselves and seem to have a real life of their own. Jim Cooper has done an excellent job of creating a believable story that draws you in and holds your attention from beginning to end.

One of the things that made this book stand out from others in the same genre, was that the author didn't use the same storyline and plot that I have seen repeated before. The way he chose to tell his story was filled with mystery and kept me wondering what would happen next. I didn't foresee the things happening before I got to them and that was a nice change.

The main character is a tough lady. She is the kind of character that you can respect for her independence and determination to discover the truth. While I enjoyed the other characters, it was Chynna that stole the spotlight, just as it should be with a main character.

Honestly, this is a novel that you really can't figure out until the very last word.

There is danger, mystery, action and psychological twists in this story everywhere you turn.

I won a copy of Twisted Ties on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ. This is my first time reading author Jim Cooper's work and I was pleased. Twisted Ties is definitely a page turning thrill ride. The main character Chynna Lennox is a fully developed unstoppable beast. The other characters are great supporting cast mates for this story with so many levels of twists and turns you can't predict where or when it will all end. Jim Cooper's language gets your attention and keeps it. A very good read.

I'm not typically a reader of mysteries. I quite enjoyed this one. Chynna Lennox does not quit and I couldn't stop reading. Cooper creates a crew of realistically flawed main characters and truly deviant villains. Even with the villains he provides more than flat explanations for their deviance which allows the reader to view the horror they perpetrate as not just gratuitous plot twists but the consequences of being caught in a tragic downward spiral. On the other hand, Lennox and her friends battle their demons and though we know those demons will not back down any time soon the reader knows, neither will this gritty protagonist.
