A change to the author's name was sensible for this ambitious adventure. Personally,I found the Myths to be very original and diverting. This is a book of our times that is a reflection of, and a real contribution to, our modern release from fear of debate about the nature of divinity. As is normal with Lane's works she begins with a big bang, but in this book it is the one which apparently starts the expansion of a universe, not the penetration of private fantasy. An infant god bored by his vision of existence literally kicks off his own Einsteinian thread of time, and then populates it with mirrors of humanity in a diverting genesis.
This infant god makes mistakes, as he endows five "prophets" with particular and different god-like powers. Only one of these individuals has any real sense of the possible and responsible use of their "gifts", Jeza, with her mind that connects with everyone's thought. The five prophets of five powers, life, time, matter, death and mind lived in one town, in one "holy land", which creates the backdrop for this adventure.
This book is a fast paced story in an invented world, that may or may not be ours. This is a great read, with a philosophic view that can be taken as flippantly or as deeply as any adult reader chooses. We are drawn through a brutal a realistic landscape that has been reflected in real life many times. We witness how those with real skills and insights are rejected by a greedy and fearful political establishment, however wisely or badly these abilities are employed. There is deep thought behind this book, which surely draws on the philosophies of the very close and very distant in Lane's space in time.

This book shows what religion might have looked like through the eyes of God himself. It's a showcase of how religion can be twisted to serve only the hearts and will of man-kind.
I found the story intriguing and it kept me riveted until the very end. In many ways I found it to be an interesting parody of what religion can be like still to this very day. A great read and a well-written book with diverse characters and well thought out plot. I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys reads based on religion.

I liked the story behind the book. I found the charactors to be very down to earth. However i did not care for the end of the book, though I did not see that ending coming. I was keep guessing until the very end of the book.

This is a tale of religion, faith and the corrupting influence of power. It has a fascinating host of characters and an interesting plot.

I'm not sure what I was expecting when I started this book. I'm pretty sure this wasn't it. It was ok, but it's not a story I'm going to run out and tell everyone I know to read.
