At the end of An Indecent Proposition there is a small write up about the author Stephanie Julian and it says what she loves most is writing heat with heart. I find that to be a perfect way to describe this series. It was most definitely heat and truly a lot of heart.
To be honest in the beginning I had some reservations. I mean it started right off with a bang. Literally. I was asking myself if I found this believable or even a good start. What happened next was purely unexpected. The writing and the flow just had me captivated with it all. Erik with his scares, both physical and mental, made me feel like I wanted to take care of him. Keegan with his devotion to his best friend was powerful. And the love and understanding that Jules gave to them both was just what they needed.
Don’t get me wrong. This isn’t some life changing, soul searching book of epic proportions. No. What it is, is a ménage à trois that’s a sexy fun read for the erotica lover. If you are a fan of Jaci Burton or Maya Banks this is one series you will want to read.
4 STARS Pure book candy at its best! T~
*This is a series of short stories that I read as a compilation of books/installments 1-5 *Given via the author/Monster Book Promotions in exchange for an honest review
Good start to the series. Julianne is desperate for money and Erik and Keegan have no shortage of what she needs. The only problem is, both men want her. What's a girl to do? Have them both, that's what! Although Julianne has never had a threesome, Keegan and Erik have shared women in the past without hesitation. Erik is scarred from a fire and initially hides in a corner just watching Keegan with Julianne, thinking that would be enough, but Julianne forces him to reveal himself. To Erik's astonishment, she's not disgusted by what she sees and she has no qualms showing him how attracted she is to him.
I thought I would have a preference for one of these guys, but I liked them equally. Erik was vulnerable, yet dominant at times with Julianne and Keegan was pure alpha with her. I would have liked to see this short story combined with the books that follow to make a longer book because in this book, their encounter was purely sexual, and after Julianne left the next day, I kind of felt like I was left hanging and both men were smitten and wanted more of her. I would like to read more in the series, but I think for such short stories, the following books are just too expensive. For those prices, I prefer to read a full length novel.
Now to be sure, it was clear to me that the story was published in pieces before I picked it up from reading the information about the book. I didn't like the idea of buying what is in essence a book in bits and pieces, but I thought I would give it a try to be fair, and a free book is a pretty harmless way to do it. So, This review is not me calling "Foul! I was cheated." I wasn't.
Right off the top I'm glad I grabbed this when it was free. I picked it up because there was another book by this author I wanted to read, but it seems this author, instead of publishing a complete story, publishes her stories in bits and pieces... large bits and pieces, but bits and pieces nonetheless. An Indecent Proposition is about 5 chapters in the story. Call me old-fashioned, but when I read a book (novel or novella) I want the complete story. I've read serial stories and loved them, and came back for more! The thing those all had in common, however, was a complete story with beginning, middle and end. This is more like a telanovela, where you have to come back each week to get the next bit... oh but before you can get to the next part you have to PAY, again and again. If the idea of READING a telanovela intrigues you, then this is the book (and i use the term loosely as it's not really a book) for you... just keep your credit card handy. Personally, I feel that splitting up a story in several parts (this particular story-line is three published parts and counting) is a ploy to get people's buy-in to what is actually a mediocre story with maximum profit.
The story itself was mediocre at best. The sex was hot hot hot. The characters mildly interesting, but here was nothing interesting enough about the plot or the characters to make me want to pick up the next part. The characters roles are pretty well defined in this installment, it seems pretty clear where this story is going. Perhaps there will be some twists, turns and surprises along the way, however I am not interested enough to BUY the complete story over and over again in bits and pieces to find out. If this book was a literary masterpiece, perhaps I would be willing to pull out my credit card every few chapters to find out what happens next. In my estimation there are very few books worth that commitment and this isn't one of them.
Just re-read this to refresh my mind for parts 2, 3 & 4. Loved this last year when I read it during the holidays as part of the A Very Naughty Christmas Anthology. Since this is a series & fairly short books, I'm going to wait to do a full review until I've read the whole series. Onto book #2 now! :)
A surprisingly well-written story with excellent character development and engaging plot. I loved the way the story was handled and I look forward to reading more from this author. The story was sexy, extra hot spicy, smart, and superbly written. Great job!
Kindle had this for free. Thought it would be a fun read. thought is would be quick and fun. OH WHAT A SURPRISE. Love the story. Fell in love with the characters. I felt with them on their need to help and to show love and compassion. Oh and yeah the sex was H.O.T. Must read.
Event planner Julianne has a lot of money issues. Her mother is sick, her car is almost dead and she wants to go to school. When a sexy (and very rich) man who saw her at one of her events, offers her half a million dollars to sleep with him for the night, she can’t pass it up.
Keegan made his millions or billions (it’s a lot of “illons) as a young man with his best friend Erik. They were on top of the world, and on top of many women. They found they loved sharing women, and life was good.
Together, he and Keegan made for one outstanding fucking experience, one they’d perfected after years of practice.
But then one night Erik was at their plant, and there was an explosion, severely burning and scarring Erik. After five facial reconstructions, he is done with trying to fix himself. But he is far from healed. He is a recluse and Keegan feels guilty that Erik was there that night. When Keegan gets wind that there is a woman that Erik is finally showing sexual interest in again, he jumps on the opportunity to get Julianne to their house. As Erik hides in the shadows he watches Keegan and Julianne get very intimate. He can’t hide himself for long, and soon he has to face this beautiful woman with his scars.
This series is broken up into 50ish page serials. Three parts are out, and I’m just going to review all three as one review as they all run together. This is a very erotic story. It starts with sex and the bedroom play rarely lets up. The main gist of the story is that Keegan and Erik want Julianne. Erik has no self confidence due to his scars and Keegan walks around quite angry most of the time, due to everything that has happened the past few years. Julianne embraces Erik and his scars, something that shocks him. I like that she doesn’t run away screaming when she sees him. I’m all for a beauty and the beast trope. I think she embraces it a little too easily. Not just his physical appearance but having sex with two strangers. They go from zero to err69 real fast.
After an amazing night together, the boys don’t call (it’s the holidays and they are busy) so then there are hurt feelings and such. I guess my main frustration is that Julianne wants this serious relationship so quickly. And Keegan and Erik walk around so intense and pissed off about everything. I wanted them to all just settle down, take a breath and just chill.
But but but I did have fun reading this. It’s super hot. It’s a little over the top with twitching cocks:
Christ, his cock practically pounded against the zipper in his jeans, he was so hard.
Let the poor guy out! But then this happens.
His cock twitched for at least a minute, as he tried not to breath too heavily to give away his presence.
This author writes really hot books and they are fun to read. There is a building question as to whether the explosion was an accident or not and part three does end with a little “oh really? moment. If you are looking for something erotic and quick, you might like this these.
As I read the opening line from the blurb: ‘Two men. One woman. Half a million dollars. One very indecent proposition...
I’m thinking am I going to be reading another trash novella, not so with An Indecent Proposition. This book packs quite the punch from so many angles. What this book lacks in length, most definitely is made-up in its content with the excellent character development of Erik, Keegan and Julianne. At first they come off as strong individuals but as their secrets are revealed you know they all have fragile sides to explore. Then there is the seriously hot sex. There is M/F as well as M/F/M that is well written and tastefully detailed. In addition, there is enough plot to keep this reader interested. I can’t wait to see how it develops further in the next book.
Author Stephanie Julian ended this book with just enough tease to lure me in without driving me crazy. I’ll definitely coming back for more. An Indecent Proposition is a delicious must read.
I received this book from JeepDiva in exchange for my honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated.
I adored the setup here and thought the characters were well developed, but for me it probably didn't pull through enough to continue reading the serial. It's a pet peeve of mine when a heroine loves sex with lots of people but feels compelled to tell us that she's not a "slut." Part of being sex positive is not shaming other women.
I wished the insta-love would have been toned down, and then I would have been more interested to watch it develop in later installments. Erik and Keegan kept wondering at how quickly they've fallen for her, but when they described her, all they ever used was physical descriptions. He couldn't imagine letting her go because she had amazing tits. I just didn't feel the emotional impact I was told about.
There were definitely high points though. The opening to the sex scene was pretty hot. I liked all three characters, and appreciating the way she stood up to the surly Erik.
Now that is what I am talking about!!!! That is how I like my short stories hot steamy and with lots of great sex. WOW what else can I really say. I have read quite a few short stories and this one just had me squirming in my seat and attacking my husband. I would definitely recommend this story to anyone who is looking for a quick read and some really steamy sex!!!
I will be reading the second installment of this book because I just have to know what happens between Jules, Keegan and Erik!
This book is m/f/m with some hot scenes and a good enough story... wait did I say it was hot and steamy already cause it is so hot and steamy!!!!
An Indecent Proposition, Part 1 by Stephanie Julian
The first part of a hot and super sexy erotic romance. Julianna likes sex but more than just sex, she understands that scars and appearance do not make the man. With that attitude, she is more than a match for these two best friends that play and work so well together. She'll bring Erik out of hiding and make him feel whole again. At least, that's where I expect it to go. On to Part 2 to see how this new threesome works out. Because it's just a piece of the whole, it is really just a sex party. But it does have emotional depths because of Erik's scars and issues. But unresolved because it's only a piece.
I read this as part of and I had never read anything by Stephanie, but I really liked this story, a modern day Beauty & the Beast story. I LOVE that she decided to do a follow up story so I could know if Erik can come out of the shadows and find love despite the issues he has with his scars. I will be putting Stephanie “on my radar to check out more by her.
3.5 stars. I read this story as part of the . I didn't expect to be drawn to it as much as I was, but I do enjoy a scarred hero. It was over way too soon with a cliffhanger. After checking, I see that there are more installments of this intriguing story which I plan to continue.
This was a great start to what can only be a wonderful ménage story. Keegan and Erick are friends. And have shared women in the past. When Erick was scared horribly after an accident, he no longer felt comfortable in public. They arrange a night with Julianna, only intending for Erick to watch, but she quickly discovers their plot and things get interesting. I would definitely read more of this series.
A woman (Julianne) accepting money that would help pay for her mother's hospital bills if she agrees to sleep with one guy (Keegan) whilst his scarred best friend (Erik) watches in the shadows. What I loved about this book is how the writer took care to describe how Erik feels after the accident, but also how Julianne reacts to him. Not with disgust, honestly seeing past the scars to the man beneath.
This started off strong, and the female protagonist was strong and independent(ish)...then it kind of went downhill. It also suffers from some editing bugs...there are some ghosts of earlier drafts in there where Erik's sex life post-accident is unclear, and the two male character's names are messed up in a few different situations - nothing terrible, but certainly brings you out of the story. It's good, but not great. The author is for sure smart and articulate though.
This is one of the hottest stories I have ever read. I can't wait to read more and see how this unique relationship develops. Stephanie Julian sure knows how to write erotic stories, I love her writing!
2 men offer a woman a huge sum of money if she will have sex with them. The reason being that one of the men, Erik, was badly burned in an accident and he hides behind his scars. This is a mixture of Indecent Proposal and Beauty and the Beast, and of course lots of hot sex.
Not to big on threesomes but this story is so addicting and hot! I love the authors Salon series so I gave these a shot! Not bad at all! Will write full review when I finish! I'm reading 4&5 right now! Happy Reading!
An awesome, hot, short story. When Eric is burned and scarred, an offer is made for Julianne to meet Keegan. While he watches. But she turns the tables and makes Eric participate. I'm glad to see there is another book so I can find out what happens next.
Well cold shower anyone? I love the storyline straight to the point. I usually have a favorite character and well I'm undecided I like both the Men . Jules oh Jules trying to get ahead . This was quite the start to the series .
