In Charlotte's fourth semester at Public everything is about to change. Princess Lanca's father, King Daemon, has been murdered, and Lanca will ascend to the vampire throne. But danger lurks around every dark corner and no one knows whom to trust. Can Charlotte and her friends come together to protect the princess against darkness, or will they be too late?
Although I enjoy the characters, supernatural species, and general premise of this YA series, I still think that it needs more work. The books should be longer. The endings (?) of the individual books could be better. The Heroine should be at least beginning to develop her abilities.
I was a little disturbed by the animal abuse that was portrayed in this installment. It was graphic and unnecessary. Torture the Bad Guys, not animals. At this point I'm not sure that I'll continue with this series. 2-3/4 Stars for me.
This is one of my most favorite series! Elemental Dawn is so different from the other 3 books in the series, it just might be my favorite, but also my most hated. Only because Maddy made me cry in this book, and I don't cry easily.
If your thinking of starting a new series this is a great one! FOUR books in and I'm not bore in the least! These books are fast pace and endearing!
If there was a possibility to give 0 or minus stars l think this book would be the winner for that position. At this point l wish the dear writer would have come to her senses and stop pretending to be something she is not:a writer. You see, this is a mess. So boring, as its 70% the constant pity party of the main heroe who is the lamest looser without a single own thought, like ahh everyone wants to kill me but l am the last elemental, l am in danger, everyone hates me, but lhave the coolest guy as my bf, and l donno anything about magic but its my fight l csn do it but ahh l am soo in danger! Gross. Really. Besides, the book is about a coronation. Then why preparing it with useless unimportant details, like intonation of 55% of the story, the prehappening at the location, where still nothing happens and the thing that is emphasized the most is that IT IS DARK???? The coronation that wont happen is like 1 chapter and written so badly that l almost lost my temper. Thats the issue with YA writers. They thing its an easy way to write. Even a pre-school pupil can invent a better storyline. So hands off if you want your brain to avoid becoming zombie.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
But it needs some editing. Some plot points were introduced more than once with contradicting information like a rewrite happened but it wasn't edited as a whole after that
(2.5 Stars) Every series seems to have a book that is not as good as the rest and "Elemental Dawn" is that book for me. This read was extremely dark and at times rather disturbing. Additionally, I found myself getting bored with the incessant bickering among the characters. I just hope that this is not a sign of what direction this series will be taking.
Our story begins with Charlotte at home with her brother, Ricky. Of course, her Stepfather is away leaving them to have some quality time. Then, Lisabelle makes an appearance with an announcement in hand regarding the death of Princess Lanca's father and her upcoming coronation. It seems that everyone is invited including the dark powers. Lisabelle and Charlotte head out to join up with Sip and her parents. Demons attacks are on the rise and they must be careful how they travel.
Of course they are attacked on the journey and it becomes increasingly difficult to know who to trust. When they arrive at the castle, Princess Lanca meets them and takes them into her confidence. The first night there, the vampires attempt to make a point to all the paranormals that they are in charge. Ms. Edwards writes a scene that was so disturbing to the point I had to think whether or not it was truly really necessary.
Charlotte meets up with Keller for brief periods at a time and it seems that his family is none to pleased with their relationship. Charlotte begins having waking dreams that features the most deadliest of foes. She is concerned because the threat that is given will the lives of everyone she loves in danger.
As I stated in the beginning, this is my least favorite book in the series to date. I am also concerned that this may be a portent of things to come. I hope not because I would hate to have to walk away from a series I have grown to love. So, I will be going on to read the next book in hopes it will be better.
In book 4 of the paranormal public’s series we find Charlotte and her crew together before the start of their 4th semester. They just found out about Lanca’s fathers murder and that Lanca will be crowned. They are setting out to her Coronation and ready to fight the dark cloud hang over what the event. We find out soon after the murder that it’s connected to the demons and President Malle and that not only is Lanca in danger but Charlotte is key as well. With the group looking out for Lanca and Charlotte, they get sucked into a devastating blow to the Vampire clan and also an attempt to steal another artifact in the wheel. Will Charlotte and Lanca make it out alive? I loved this eBook. It is set outside of school but keeps it close to what the readers are used to with the group. I loved the scene where in the room with the plants! No spoilers you have to read it! Definitely fits with the series nicely and kept me reading all night! Couldn’t put it down!
Just to let you know in advance, I read all of the books in the series.
It's true that the English is not the best and that there are parts where she skips ahead and you get mixed with the time line, but overall, the idea behind the writing is good, and although sometimes I felt the characters where kind of plastic and psychologically boxed, the background story leads you to find out the rest.
Yes, I spent most of the time correcting the English used and yes, even I though I could write it better. Yes, I got frustrated that such a good concept could be so inconsistent and so irregular..but I felt better after reading them all.
If you go past the small things (like why suddenly it's night after only a few sentences or how come the everyday life is completely omitted and you just skip a few months ahead without any warning) the story is actually interesting.
I absolutely love the Paranormal Public series! The only reason I gave Elemental Dawn four stars is because it was too short. The other books in the series are much lengthier and I am a person who loves long books.
Elemental Dawn takes place over a time period of about a week to ten days. The main event is the crowning of Princess Lanca as Queen of the Rapiers. I really enjoyed meeting the families of Charlotte's friends, Sip and Lough (Lisabelle's were MIA sadly) and experiencing the dynamics of the Rapier Vampire Coven. I wish we could have learned more about Sip's "pack" of brothers. The writing was SO descriptive and spot on that I actually felt like I was in the dark and cold most of the time. Well Done, Maddy!
I can't wait for Elemental Fire to be released. I am crossing my fingers that it is released June 1st!!
This was definitely a page turner and I hated having to put it down to go to bed (responsibilities!). In this episode, our heroine travels to the mountain home of Lanca her vampire friend who suddenly thrust into the role of queen after her father is murdered. The story was good and I enjoyed it immensely, but I wish I had known before I got started that this was going to be like watching a TV series with each new book being another episode in the adventures of Charlotte the Elemental. That is what this has turned into and it's a little frustrating because I like for books to truly end. Don't get me wrong, each book could be read a stand alone story and you don't have to read the next story, but for someone like me, that's really hard because I want to know how it all ends. I'll keep reading until I'm bored with it and then I'll stop. I hope ends before I get there.
I think this book was a bit disappointing compared to the others in the series. I was really enjoying this series and after the last book I was looking forward to getting some answers. There was the idea of a battle looming on the horizon, anticipation of fight scenes and drama but it did not deliver. Charlotte spends most of her time avoiding the demons and trying to work out why Keller is avoiding her now that they are in a relationship. Princess Lanca is being crowned after losing her father and most of the story centres around this coronation taking place. Some of the story lines did not make sense to me and it just seemed to go nowhere. I did enjoy the banter between the friends but I wanted more action and the ending was a bit lacklustre for me.
Elemental Dawn is book four of the Paranormal Public series by Maddy Edwards.
Lanca, Vampire Princess, is about to become Queen. Her father's been murdered, and Sip, Lisabelle, and Charlotte rush to her side for her coronation. Of course, everything couldn't be just that simple. Because the dark mages are all invited, and most of them have gone over to the side of the demons to be led by Malle. Malle, of course, has to make an announcement that she wants Charlotte dead... and fear just might be her ally in this evil deed.
But friendship abounds, and maybe the girls along with Lough and Keller, just might have what it takes to pull through. If they stick together.
I still think that this is a good series. I understand what some of the reviewers are saying, the main character, Charlotte, does not seem to be very heroic. But if you really consider, most heroic characters throw themselves in the middle of a bunch of trouble and come out smelling like roses. Throughout this entire series there has always been a very real element of death, characters have been dying since the beginning. Admittedly the series is lacking depth in some places, it really does lack some of the more detailed character development but I am still excited to see what is going to happen next.
Another great book in the Paranormal Public series. The books are getting more darker as the paranormal world heads towards war but the banter between Sip and Lisabelle lightens the stressful scenes that Charlotte faces throughout the book. The epilogue at the end makes me want to read more and find out what happens and hopefully everything will workout between Keller and Charlotte. Can't wait to read the next book.
Same review as number three: I'm continuing the series because I like the story. However, the typos and grammar issues are really getting to me and usually they aren't a huge issue for me. There have been constant mistakes in all three books and it's beginning to get old. If I didn't enjoy the underlying story and need a distraction badly right now I probably would end here. Stars would be higher without the typos.
now i am hooked. This was such a great, easy and creative book. i was hooked after the first page.
The characters were easy to fall in love with and follow, along with the story. the author made the mental visions so easy and vivid of the surroundings and the characters actions felt so real.
i would highly recommend this author and this book.
