During a storm unlike anything Michael Brennan has seen before, his family is taken. His wife, daughter, and son are stripped from him in a flash of lightning revealing something in the darkness with glowing eyes and a mouth of fire.
On the brink of madness and past the point of breaking, he enters into a world of evil, wholly unlike our own. There he finds a hellish version of Earth, populated with unspeakable horrors and beset by a malevolence older than time itself.
Joining forces with an unlikely trio, he must face his fears, both within and without, to find those that matter most to him and prevent the spreading of a shadow intent on the destruction of both realms.

I don't know how on earth I could review this book right now after reading the ending part. Really so unexpectable...
I can't believe this. It just broke my heart. In the end at some point I wanted to scream like saying yes that's how it should be done. I was so happy that I almost jumped in excitement while I reading that chapter. Well that was beyond my thought but was it really caught me off guard...
I just loved that book. If it was not my busy day and tight schedule off my office work of course I think I could have bean finish it in a single day but I could not. And I loved all the characters of this book and the way they all intertwined with each other. It was so obvious that while the characters going through all this offence it was really mesmerizing at the same time of course much entertaining for me...
Yes I can say that I have that mixture feeling me when I started this book. It's not like deep aur if you know what I mean that many people used to read the type of horror fiction but it was completely another level of horror fantasy. Michael the prime character of this book who got a wife and his two children one little boy and a little girl. It was all going smoothly until that de the storm came and kidnapped his family and left alone him in the earth. I just could not find address to find is missing family and of course it was so measurable situation for him that he could not find is family to whom he care much. It was after then suddenly found Elius and Fellow. Actually I really love that character called Fellow and I wish of course that I have a friend like him. No offence of course. And there's that bird like creature and Kotis the other character. Michael team up with them and begin his journey to find is missing family. Throughout this book while they were going through to those dangerous events I thought I was with them only doing my part to go ahead and find out about Michaels family. There is lot of thing that I really wanted to describe in here but if I do that I will reveal more spoiler so better I put an end and be done with it. But yours I really just laughed to read that book and I wish I could read more book like that. it was like another type of horror fiction that you usually don't read but as I repeating again you wish to read. Anyway even though I am not giving it 5 ratings instead of 4, I can say it was one of the good read in best way. Thanks to the author and of course I am going to read more books by him...
Yes, I finished this book in 1 night. I really could not put it down. From start to finish, there is never a dull moment. Kotis was my favorite character. I loved the way he talked and his crude sense of humor. Then there is Fellow. How could you not like quiet, sweet Fellow? I sort of did predict the ending in that he would not be able to return with them. I hope that's not giving too much away. I will definately be checking out the other books from this author.
"EverFall" is a fun read, well written without being too flashy. Although a little sluggish in the beginning, it picks up steam about the midway point and really begins to ratchet down the anxiety.
Michael has issues but achieves some personal growth while traveling the dangerous landscape and the characters from this dark land that guide and aid him in his journey begin to feel like friends as their differences build to a camaraderie. They all believe that they have something to lose.
The landscape and the evils that inhabit it are very imaginative. There are creatures in the shadows, the fog yearning to separate Michael from his companions and trap him in this land for eternity leading to a few fantastic battle sequences, my favorite being the skirmish with the Reaper like creature in the land of bones.
I would have liked a little more character development. A little more time with Michael and family before the storm would have helped build a larger sense of urgency. You (the reader) also don't get to learn a great deal about Michael's companions (Ellius, Fellow, Kotis) until events have concluded. Minor things that would have made me feel more invested. But the action builds to a pretty fantastic, satisfyingly heavy ending.
I fell in love with the characters from page one. Magnificent writing...held my attention from the very beginning. I hated to put this book down at 2am! Character and plot development was on point. I would have given 5 stars, but the ending was bittersweet, although appropriate. Hey, I am a lover of HEA...what can I say? I would recommend this book in a second and look forward to reading more from this author. I would love to see an EverFall 2...
If I was in high school, in fairly certain I would have really enjoyed this story. As a very experienced reader, however, I found the writing style itself rather lacking and a few points far too predictable. Overall though, it was an enjoyable read but it did not keep me engrossed.
Wow! Joe Hart's imagination never ceases to amaze me. The journey Michael is on to find his family is in another world. A quite disturbing world. Will he find them? Read it and find out.
This book could have been so worth the read. Spoiler alert! The ending is just awful, and it is a shame, because the rest of the story is really quite well done. I don't believe that all books should have happily ever after endings, but this one was so disappointing and could have ended in any number of better scenarios. I thought for sure that one of the children would get them all home, flesh taking flesh, but that wasn't even a small consideration, and that would have been a cool way to end the story and to make it worth all the father went through to save his family. I doubt very much if I will bother to read any more of this author, since I don't like the way he ends his stories. Will be interested to read some of the other reviews, to see if anyone else disliked this book.
Another winner for Joe Hart. Main character, Michael, was frustrating to deal with. He had an abnormal fear of thunder storm and numbed himself with alcohol. Made it difficult to emphasize with him and his choices. Clarification will come later in the book. What was fascinating was the place Michael had to travel to go save his kidnapped family. While reading the book I was so tense in anticipation as, no spoiler here, but Hart doesn't tie up his stories in pretty boss of happily ever after. He didn't disappoint.
Really thin characters, no real emotional ties to them. Plot progression rigidly linear, descriptions basic. Felt like a teen's homework assignment in parts.
Plagued by anxiety whenever there are storms safe medicating with alcohol helps him get through. But slowly alcohol is taking over his life. During a particular hellish storm he is drinking while he family huddles in the hall. A malevolent evil snatches them from this world and into Ever Fall.
Just as he is beginning to give up hope of seeing Jane (his wife) and his children (Sara & Jack), two mysterious strangers (Ellius and Fellow) show up and promise to lead him to them. Thus he willing goes to Ever Fall. Ellius arranges for Kotis to aid in the search as Ellius can not leave the forest.
Kotis and Fellow prove to be true friends, the evil is defeated and he is reunited with is family, but sadly they discover there is no way out of Ever Fall for him. His family returns home without him and slowly resigns himself to life in Ever Fall.
EverFall was recently offered for free by Amazon for Kindle. I figured, why not? In the end, I found the novel to be a pretty good read. It reminded me of early Dean Koontz writing.
The story is about a grown man whose family disappears in the middle of a thunderstorms. He begins a journey to another world that is "close, but very far away", to find them.
The genre is horror, but I think it is more fantasy. The book is full of darkness: evil, violence, gore. However, the moral of the story is beautiful: Sacrifice is the truest expression of love.
I will have to read another of Joe Hart's books before I decide if I am a fan. But, for free, this one was well worth my time.
Wow, so that was an ending I wasn't expecting. So this is about a man who's fear of storms turns him into an alcoholic - it's the only way he can deal with storms when they come around. His wife and kids are taken from him and pulled into another dimension - Everfall. He has to go there and confront the root of what caused his fear of storms in order to get his family back. I can't say too much or else I'll give it away. If you like supernatural/horror, this is a pretty good book.
One of the best he has written. I've been reading through the Joe Hart books for the past couple of months. I have enjoyed all of them, but this one really hit home for me. The depth of the characters and the love of family over all else touched me in a way that many other authors have missed. This is by far one of the best reads so far. If you are new to Hart's work, I highly recommend that you start here.
i was hoping for more horror than there was in this book. i am not a huge fan of fantasy in general and at times i found it hard to keep my interest in the story but the ending was well written and unlike some other reviewers i thought it was the best part of the book even though it was not a happy ending but many horror stories dont have a happy ending do they ?
This is just so sad and depressing, and incredibly creepy. There's scary illustrations, and it's at times down right disturbing... with that being said, this book is incredibly well written. It's also very different from anything you've read before. If you enjoy weird, blood, and lies - this is the book for you.
Yet another fantastic work by Mr. Hart. I have yet to be disappointed in any way with his stories, and in my opinion that is a rare treat among horror authors. I loved the characters in this story (especially Kotis), and the ending was unexpected and utterly heartbreaking. It was the perfect way to close the story, I felt. Bravo.
Wow!! I loved this story. Kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The ending was great in my opinion. After I finished this book it left me pondering the whole theme of the story. Excellent and quick read. Love Joe Hart.
Not my favorite Joe Hart book. A horror story that morphs into fantasy EverFall tells a story of a man who struggles with an addiction that is a self medication on the form of alcohol. And in true Joe Hart fashion not a happy ending.

A well developed novel with great potential. The poignantly written ending is certainly a redemption for the rest of the novel, which I sometimes found lacking.. An overall enjoyable tale.
Wow, this book takes you on a ride for sure. Your emotions will all be triggered at some point. Make sure you have time as you won't want to put it down... I know I didn't.
