Although this plot is a common one, Cynthia Hickey adds so much to it that it seems new and fresh. The dialogue is great and the characters are well-developed (even secondary ones). Charlotte Nelson has arrived as the new teacher in Plumville, Arkansas, only to find that the town is split over a generations-old feud. Undaunted, Charlotte decides to have a Christmas pageant to unite the town.
One of the first people Charlotte meets is the sheriff, Asher Thomas. But the sheriff is up to his eyeballs in trouble of the half-pint variety -- namely 3 nephews. Asher's brother left for parts unknown after his wife died and left his three sons with Asher, an unmarried man bewildered by the mischievous nature of the three boys. In fact, that is why a new teacher had to be found after the school year had started -- the boys ran off the last teacher.
Everything about this story is charming. Charlotte is one-of-a-kind. Asher is usually two steps behind his difficult nephews. The townspeople are absolutely loonie (How can the preacher be on one side of the feud 6 days/week and minister to everyone on the 7th day?) Get this book; you will be delighted too.
A really funny, cute story. Charlotte's first teaching job is going to take all her determination. Between the Ozarks' feuding families and the Sheriff's holy terror nephews, she's in for a rough time. But the boys' antics kept things light and humourous. The Sheriff is torn between wanting to raise his nephews right and not wanting to marry. But he seems to be helping the new schoolmarm out quite often. Will she help the town or end up moving to a different school? Will she lose her heart along the way? It was really good.
A wonderful romance of a new teacher in rural Plumville Arkansas. Can this city girl from Savannah who is used to servants and a big house be okay in a one room cabin?
I loved the story of Charlotte and Sheriff Asher and their story. So well written that has adventure, a long term feud, and romance.
A very well written book with great characters and a love story.
Excellence Christian Sexual Tension I was disappointed in the last book I read by Cynthia Hickey. However, this one is excellent. Great characters, excellent plot and Hickey’s use of sexual tension is perfect for a Christian romance.
Someone new in town is one of curiosity and a challenge. Will her ideas as a teacher be excepted by the town and parents. To a sheriff, a big distraction, he thinks he doesn’t want, love can change their mind Given audio which was good for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
This was a great book! I loved the antics of the three nephews and was aghast at the atrocities Charlotte suffered! Her Christmas surprises are wonderful too! The narrator’s voice fit well with this book. All the characters sounded realistic.
When Charlotte arrived in Plumville the town didn't know what to do with her. Watching the children try to get her to quit will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what they try next. Asher is a amazing person who doesn't know how to handle a woman like Charlotte. The changes that happened because of the school teacher is truly remarkable. You will God working throughout this whole story.
I just couldn't get through this one. Considering how short the Heartsong Presents novels are, that's pretty sad. This book isn't so badly written; it's just a very cutesy, kid-intensive story that I couldn't get into.
The story revolves around Charlotte Nelson's arrival in rural Arkansas to teach school. When she gets there, she discovers a town divided by a Hatfield and McCoy-esque dispute that she decides will be set to rights by having a town Christmas pageant. She also crosses paths with the hunky town sheriff, who is raising his three wild nephews, whom Charlotte will of course turn into little angels. After a few chapters, I decided that I just couldn't deal with Little Miss Sunshine. As I mentioned above, this isn't a horrible book but it is super sugary in tone. If you are in the mood for that, you may like this book but this one was just a little too much for me.
A fun romantic romp with a spunky school teacher and a handsome hillbilly sheriff. Charlotte Nelson moves to the hill country of Arkansas to teach school. Her first teaching position, and her first experience in a backwater part of the country, she expects challenges. She doesn't expect them to be a handsome sheriff raising three unruly nephews.
Asher Thomas has his hands full with a 3-generation family feud and three feisty young boys whose father has gone missing. Between keeping the peace and searching for his brother, the last thing he has time for is a dark-haired beauty who thinks she can change the hill people. But if he can keep her alive, she's going to change his mind.
I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this book, found myself laughing and chuckling with them, crying with them, praying with them,...it totally pulled me in - I love books like that. The antics of the Thomas boys was hysterical, and it was beautiful watching the relationship grow between the sheriff and Charlotte, even though it wasn't how they thought their lives were to be - God had other plans. The way the Lord used her to bring the town together and to see the love grow between her and the townspeople and vise versa was beautiful, even her parents saw that this was where she was meant to be.
