Rate this book
He’s been her ultimate untouchable desire.

Nothing says happy birthday like a rock god flying thousands of miles to surprise a woman he's never met. But that's exactly what happens to Gabi Smith when she gives her long distance best friend a flippant invitation to her laid back girl’s night out. She never expected to turn on the dance floor and find Blake Kennedy’s gaze holding her body captive.

She’s his everything and he’s never laid eyes on her.

Gabi means more to Blake than life itself. She’s his strength, his savior, and the only person who helped to vanquish his demons. No one means more to him than his angel. So when things between them start to sizzle, he's ready to fight for the future he never thought he would deserve.

Skeletons from his past will threaten his only chance at love...

Blake has come a long way—with Gabi's help—to leave the hell of his youth behind him, but sometimes memories don’t want to stay buried. Determined to stand on his own for once, Blake is willing to stretch the truth to keep his troubles from burdening the woman he adores.

Little white lies can create black holes in any relationship. Only time will tell if an Aussie with a heart of gold will forgive her bad-boy boyfriend or if the deceit will end his passionate addiction.

4 Stars for Blake and Gabi!!!

Passionate Addiction is Blake's story. Blake is the bass guitarist (I think) for Reckless Beat. Shortly after joining the band Blake meets Michelle and gets involved with cocaine. He keeps his addiction hidden from the band, joins an online drug addiciton chat room and is eventually saved by Gabrielle (Gabi), our heroine.

For four years, Blake and Gabi build a friendship. Gabi is Blake's angel. She saved him from crumbling under the addiction. They've never met....he's never seen pictures of her. It takes Blake years to admit that he's in a famous band.

I really wish we would have gotten more of Blake and Gabi's past relationship and the build-up of their friendship. I think it would have helped me connect with them even more. They shared a really strong bond through their chats....one built from telling each other all of their thoughts and feelings and being very open with each other.

“You saved my life. I never want to forget that. Even when I’m old and senile. Even if we drift apart. No matter what happens, I will always hold you close to my heart.

Blake surprises Gabi on her birthday by meeting her for the first time. The prologue shows us how Blake and Gabi meet while chatting but then it jumps to Gabi's birthday. And as soon as Blake saw Gabi it was insta-love for the both of them.

They spend a long weekend together getting to know each other physically after having built a strong emotional connection the last four years. They had great sexual chemistry....this was definitely a HOT read.

However, Blake's past catches up with him. Gabi has always been the one to save Blake and for once Blake wants to fix his problems on his own.

In the process, Blake pushes Gabi away. Gabi was a great heroine. She was always there for Blake, letting him know how much she loved him and how proud she was of him. I just didn't understand why Blake pushed her away....after spending four years letting her in to all of the pain from his past.

I loved that Gabi continued to fight for Blake. When she goes after Blake....yep

*shakes head*....not smart Blake, not smart.

Part of me understood where Blake was coming from, but part of me was like WTF?!?!? IDK--I wasn't a huge fan of the conflict in this book.

Overall, I did enjoy Blake and Gabi's story. It was much darker than Alana and Mitch's from the previous book. I felt like there were a few unaddressed issues, but nothing major. If you're a fan of steamy rock star books then I definitely recommend this series.

“Forgive, Forget. Finally be free.

The men from Reckless Beat are absolutely addicting! Never has a character touched my heart as much as Blake has! Passionate Addiction is a Rock Star love story that will take your breath away.

Imagine meeting and talking with someone on the internet, building a trust without even meeting in person, telling them your secrets and downfalls, depending on that someone when you don’t even know what they look like. Fast forward 4 years, and finally you come face to face with this person, this beautiful human being, your savior. What would you do?

We first met the bass guitarist of Reckless Beat in Blind Attraction. Remember him? Blake Kennedy, the ridiculously sexy bad boy with witty remarks and a bit of a voyeur streak. I fell in LUST with him in book 1 and I fell in LOVE with him in Passionate Addiction. I never realized how horrible his past was. It broke my heart. This beautiful man came from a deadbeat family, used to do drugs, and didn’t believe he deserved anyone’s love. Argh! I knew this would happen. Tears are running down my face even as I write this review. I would like to thank this author for creating a character so damaged and so broken, that you can’t help but want to heal the man yourself. He has all the pieces to be happy again, he just needs the right “angel to put them back together, and make him whole.

“He had the exterior of a hellion and the soul of the divine a tangled combination that she had never been able to resist.

Gabrielle Smith Eden Summers couldn’t have created a more perfect match for Blake. She is strong, independent, intelligent. She is also so incredibly hard on herself and can’t let go of the past. She is quick-witted and can handle herself. The chemistry between these two was amazing, even before they meet face to face. You can feel the intensity of their feelings toward each other, and they are both afraid to admit it.

“He wanted to be deeper, to be inside her heart, her soul. He wanted to be a part of her life that she could never live without. He wanted to be her addiction, like she was his.

I believe that many readers will be able to relate to Blake and Gabi’s story. They both have a dark side to their past that threatens to consume their very beings. Drugs, alcohol, deadbeat parents, these things are not easy to read about, and I bet that these subjects are even harder to write about, so I applaud Eden for putting her heart and soul in to this book and these characters. Thank you for sharing this beautiful, touching love story with us, and thank you for giving Blake his happy ending. No one deserves it more.

This is Blake (the licking of P juice Blake 😂) and Gabi's story. They met online as he sought help to deal with his addiction. She became his counselor/best friend/champion/ supporter for 4 years until he decided to surprise her with a meet on her birthday.

Shortly after meeting and such they exchange ily which confused the heck out of me. Yes they'd grown close over the years but.......from all indications she went out on dates and he had OP with the incident with Mitch and Allie happening at least a year before so how/ when did the friendship turn to love? Were they still seeing other ppl while in love with each other? This was a nagging point to me that took me out of the story a bit and that I'd really have liked cleared up!

But......moving on

Blake and Gabi are together until evilous mcbitch came back to cause some drama. I could understand Blake's reasoning for trying to handle it himself which of course led to the situation exploding in his face.
Surprisingly (to me) I teared up while reading this, Blake's attempts to get Gabi to stay/forgive him were very sweet and definitely pulled at my emotions.
All in all I enjoyed this one, though it wasn't the light read I was expecting as it dealt with drug abuse but I admired Blake's courage in dealing with his addiction and Gabi's strength in helping him get through it.

Again minor issues- Some things drove me bonkers-
Gabi's insecurities concerning the women around Blake and Blake's refusal to see his own strength but only to focus on his failure by getting addicted in the first place and evilous mcbitch didn't get her just desserts!what's up with that??? I felt that this needed to be a bit longer just to clarify some issues.

While some things are nudging up on my comfort zone (the sharing thing ugh) I'm still moving on to the next!

Passionate Addiction by Eden Summers
Passionate Addiction is the story of Blake, the newest member of the Reckless Beat band. Blake has a number of personal demons, all he’s managed to keep private from his fellow band members, the people he’s come to view as his family.
Blake was brought up in a loveless home unwanted, mistreated, and left out. He’d never felt he really belonged anywhere until he joined Reckless Beat. All that was put in jeopardy when he met one groupie, a beautiful heiress who went after Blake with a laser focus that was spooky, but left him feeling wanted in a way he never had before. In order to keep that feeling of belonging, he followed her into a world of cocaine abuse.
When he realized he was in danger of losing everything, he sought help in the only way he could: secretly, online. He walked away from the drugs and away from the heiress. The band could not know of his problems. Ever. His counselor was a kind, compassionate woman who saved his life. Her name was Gabi. Over a course of years, Blake and Gabi became best friends, though each secretly loved the other, in spite of the fact they’d never met and lived across the globe from one another. Can love survive the intrusion of a malevolent ex-girlfriend? And can friendships survive through secrets kept that could affect the band’s very existence?
Eden Summers can spin a story of love like no other. Her characters are so real, the reader shares their happiness, sorrow and pain. These characters are well developed, fully formed, practically leaping from the page into a multi-colored hologram straight into the brain. Her writing is crystal-clear; her understanding of human emotion is spectacular.
Passionate Addiction is a great story. Eden Summers outstanding character development ability and world building skills allow the creation of delicious heroes, wonderful heroines and devilish villains. Her writing is pure delight. If you haven’t tried one of Summers novels, you are missing out on something magnificent. This is a great book that will have you laughing, crying, and cheering for the couple to pull to emerge victorious. This is not a book on insta-love, either. Summers has crafted characters with a true relationship that should appeal to all.
There are some beautifully written spicy sex scenes, so if you don’t like it hot, or you prefer all your action to occur behind closed doors, with absolutely no details, this won’t be for you.
I received a copy of an ARC of this book from the author for the purposes of a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

I will say Eden knocked this book out of the freakin universe. I absolutely loved it even when I was yelling at the characters in my head. (Do not judge me.) lol

Gabi has her fair share trauma in her past. Her twin brother overdosed on their birthday and died a few days later. She chose to help other addict overcome by becoming a mod in the chat room. She chose to help people so that other people didn’t feel that lose. I wanted her to be more for Blake talking to the woman who pulled him into drugs. I wanted her to yell and scream and tell him he was a fool. I really did love her (even if she stole Blake) and I thought she was a very good fit for Blake. I felt her heart break and even teared up a bit.

Blake is one of a kind. He is a recovering addict and Gabi was his savior. He is a very loyal man and the people he cares about means the world to him. He was more serious in this book but still made me laugh. I loved how he interacted with the band. The ribbing and the joking makes it feel extremely real. I love that the guys never him get a big head. It keeps him very humble. He is hero through and through. In fact it was his desire to protect Gabi lead to him hurting her in so many ways. It frustrated me because I wanted him to just be honest and upfront. It would have saved them both from so much hurt.

I fell for Blake in Blind Attraction. He was this guy full of jokes and energy. Plus he can play the guitar and has tattoo so he was awesome. Then I read the blurb for Passionate Addiction and realized that there was much more to him then I imagined. I personally love a damaged a hero. To watch them come from something horrible and fight their way through the past makes their happy ending even more wonderful.

Passionate Addiction shows a darker side of Blake but a side I loved nonetheless. He pulled himself out of a very dark hole with the help of someone thousands of miles away. I can’t even imagine the amount of strength that takes.

This book is a wonderful book that gave me emotional whiplash. It is a wonderful journey and I can’t wait until the next book. I think as a reader you can see how Eden poured her heart and soul into this story. She took someone that everyone loved from the first book and made him darker and damaged. It was a huge risk that the readers could have hated and it worked beautifully.

First of all, I did sit and read PASSIONATE ADDICTION in one sitting. From the prologue, I was hooked. Blake and Gabi met over distance and fell in love over time. In his darkest moments of struggling to fight his cocaine addiction, tattooed rocker, Blake Kennedy, of RECKLESS BEAT fame, found his 'Angel', Gabi. Their love was four years in the making.
On the night of their first meeting, they both recognized how deep the connection was that existed between them. Over four years, they had bared their soles and exposed the darkest corners of their hearts to each other. Both Gabi and Blake were scarred from events in their pasts that were, in reality, beyond their control. But in each other, they found what they each needed to become whole. It takes Blake a bit longer to recognize that leaning on another is not a sign of weakness and that seeking strength from another is actually another way to demonstrate love and trust.
Eden Summers heats up the loose leaf sheets, Blake and Gabi heat up the bedsheets-----oh yes, the sex is sizzlin'. But the story is believable, the characters are credible....they are so very HUMAN!
Having met Blake initially in BLIND ATTRACTION,(Mitch and Alana's story), it was a thrill to catch up with the Reckless Beat gang again in the second installment of the series. This story is sexy, it has spunk,it has drama in spades, heartbreak, friendship, rivalries, blackmail...just enough clever twists and turns to the plot to keep the reader intrigued.
I am a fan, I have read most, if not all, of Eden's creations. My question to Ms. Summers is, " Who's wild ride are you going to take us on next?" Cannot wait!! P.S. I have a funny feeling "Mason" will be the man for me...;) ;)

I received an ARC of Passionate Addiction from Eden for an honest review. I didn't think I could love Passionate Addiction more than Blind Attraction, but I was wrong. The story of Blake and Gabi stole my heart. I laughed and cried but most of all I fell more in love with Blake. I LOVED this book and recommend everyone to read it. It is one of the best books I have ever read! Thank you Eden for letting me escape reality for a while.

Loved this book!! I came away from book one having fallen in love with Blake even though he wasn't the main character in that book. I thought he was kind, compassionate and caring beneath his bad boy persona. This book delves further into his story.

He and Gabi are great friends and have been for 4 years, ever since they met online in a chat room, yet they have never met in person. They've only talked via Skype and phone calls. Blake travels half way around the world to meet up with her for her birthday. She obviously know who he is, yet he's never even see a photo of her. When Gabi sees him at the bar, she's in shock!

Her body went into meltdown, overwhelmed and unsure whether to heat up in arousal or panic under his scrutiny. Bloody hell. Nobody should be that sinful. A rich, talented, bad boy all rolled up into a package of I-don't-give-a-shit, I-know-how-good-I-look.

Blake and Gabi fall into an easy relationship, even though he is hesitant at first because he doesn't want to lose her friendship. I thought these two were great for each other! They both seemed to have past issues, Blake more so, but I think they both helped each other move forward from the demons of their past.

It's only when Blake's past resurfaces, and he means well by wanting to handle the issue without Gabi, this causes a ton of trouble between them. And I truly felt sorry for him.

You saved my soul. Gave me new meaning. Fought against my demons, while I lay sleeping. "Those are Reckless lyrics." He shook his head. "Those are your lyrics. The song is about you."

I enjoyed this book even more than the first book. We get to know the entire band even better and you can see how involved they are in each others' lives.

I can't wait to move on to Reckless Weekend! I received this copy in exchange for my honest review.

I received and ARC of Passionate Addiction for an honest review. This is book 2 in the Reckless Beat series. I loved book 1 and book 2 does not disappoint. This book happens fast, however it takes your heart on this roller coaster ride with death defying dips, heart beating speeds and humongous mountain climbs. At one part I wanted to stop reading simply because I knew what was coming, I was wrong. Eden tells Blake & Gabi's story beautifully and with emotion that she transfers to u as the reader. This is so much more than 5 stars and deserves so much more praise than I'm able to give.

I was happy to read about the gang of Reckles Beat again, this was Blake's story, and I did like him from last story. Here is his connection with Gwen, and there love for each other, and then of course, he screws it up, but he was able to correct it. I love reading about the others, Mitch and Alana, and how their relationship is moving forward. Mason, you know he is next. Then their is poor Ryan, and his problems with his wife. Well to be continued

The men of Reckless Beat are falling in love one by one. First, it was Mitchell, now Blake. Just like Mitchell’s story, Blake and Gabi’s relationship was just as sweet. I enjoyed this novel not only for its romance but for Blake’s story of surviving the aftermath of substance abuse. Where Blind Attraction focused on the fame and lifestyle of a rock star, Passionate Addiction focused in his downfall and survival.

Blake Kennedy is the bass guitarist for Reckless Beat, and since joining, he has become quite a star. Unfortunately, what came with fame was drug addiction that he has been battling for some time. Winning the battle was made possible by Gabi who has been there for him via social media. Through this connection, their relationship had grown stronger.

Though there wasn’t a heavy emphasis, Ms. Eden tackled an even deeper issue in this novel. Blake has to deal with the aftermath of his past on drug use. I love that Ms. Eden used the social media as part of his recovery. I have to say the conversation in the epilogue sucked me right in. I felt Blake’s hardship, and I sensed his determination to beat the addiction. But his issue will not be falling off the wagon but “trust. Just as any recovering addict or any other victim, they feel undeserving of trust and they avoid asking for help and putting a burden on anyone. It was interesting how he tries to take care of his problems that is bigger than what he can handle.

Gabi was okay. She fit her character well and i like that supported Blake the whole time. There was a time when she could not trust Blake, but I don’t blame her. Having a rock star as your boyfriend will have “other woman issues that are just unavoidable. But she pulled through. She would be dumb not to. Blake is hot, hot, hot, not to mention he is a hopeless romantic.

There was less music in this installment but more of dealings with publicity for the band which was not bad at all. The lives of the other band members were mentioned, and the interaction between them was most definitely fun to read. I can tell you this much…there are a lot of drama going on within the band. I love all the scenes when they are all together. I’m hoping to get my Reckless Beat fix sooner than later.

Passionate Addiction is the second book in the Reckless Beat series, and it happens to be my favorite member of the band, Blake’s story. *sigh* I fell in love with him in Blind Attraction and this book…I fell even harder.

I give this book 5 full moons and highly recommend it to readers out there that love books about hot, sexy rock band members and love the contemporary romance genre.

I look forward to the next book in the series and hope it comes out soon because I need me some more of my fictional Rock Band that has won my heart. Oh..and sorry for the long review…but, unfortunately, this is one book that deserves the gushing and loving. =) I could go on and on why I loved this book…but I would give too much away..and you have not read the first book…you are missing out. Get to it and BUY the first book and then get this one. You will LOVE both!!!!

I really enjoyed this story! If anything, it was better than the previous book in the series! While we didn't get to see the evolution of their friendship, we do get to see that Gabi and Blake are very much in love with one another and have to weather some tough storms. We get a front row seat as to how Blake dealt with the fallout from his one time drug addition. It was a very frank look at addiction and how it affected others around the person addicted and it was an extremely emotional ride! I highly recommend it!

My rating: 4 stars

What I liked: I read this book for the ow drama and it definitely had it which I enjoyed. I liked the friendship the guys had. It was great how they helped Blake(H) and stood with him when the stuff came out. Him owning his mistakes helped redeem his character. I also liked that Gabbi(h) left Blake and made him come to her. I just wished she made him suffer more.

What I didn’t like: Blake was an idiot and him not wanting to tell Gabi just didn’t make since. His reason was he wanted to handle it on his own was annoying to me. Maybe if Gabi didn’t know everything about his past it would have made the excuse better but she did. Also, how was ignoring Gabi going to help the situation. Him handling the situation should not have stopped him from communicating with her. For that reason alone I wished Gabi would have made him grovel a lot more. I would have liked to have read Blake meeting her parents too. And can someone tell me who beat up the ex??

***Major Spoilers/ Details/Triggers: OW Drama. H is part of a rock band. H meets the h online in a support group. H’s ex introduced him to drugs which he got addicted to. One night he was having a bad night and went online. h helped him and they become good friends. H decides to surprise h for her birthday. They never seen each other and they hit it off right away. They decide to start a relationship. h goes with the H to meet his band mates but has to go back home for work and college. During the same time the H’s ex needs money and help, decides to blackmail the H (ex has pictures of H doing coke). H afraid that his band mates won’t understand agrees and decides he will take care of it on his own instead of talking to the h and getting her advice. H’s ex wants him to show up with her to event and pretend they are together so she can get exposure to the media. While H is doing that he promises the h that he will keep in touch like they use to but he stops calling her and barely communicates with her. When the H was supposed to see the h after the tour he cancels because the ex wants him. H comes off the plane with his band mates and the ex is there and throws herself at him kissing him. Of course he can’t really say anything so it looks like they are together. Pictures are taken and h sees them and gets upset. h decides to go to see the H to find out what is going on. H finally tells his band mates that the ex is blackmailing him. So they meet the ex and tell her that her blackmailing bullshit is done. She agrees only if he accompanies to one more outing which is the his band mates engagement party. They agree not knowing that the h is coming. h shows up and sees the H with the ex. He runs after her but his ex stops him and makes him drop her off. He tells the ex he is done and she jumps out of the car. H goes back to the hotel to see the h and tells her everything. h is upset and tells the H she needs time. The next day the H is told that someone beat the ex up and they are saying it was him. h leaves the H and goes back home. H comes clean to the press and tells them that he didn’t beat the ex and that they weren’t even together. He even tells the press about his past drug addiction. His band mates stand with him and all is forgiven. H goes to the h and apologizes. HEA

Descriptive Sex: Yes

Final thoughts: This was a good read for me. I will definitely read the rest of the series.

Oh this series is killing me, and in a good way!

As the resident bad boy of the all male rock group Reckless Beat, bass guitarist Blake Kennedy has had it all from the minute he signed on as a member of the group. As talented as he is handsome, Blake can have any woman he wants, but now, all he has to show for his wild ways are a closet full of demons just waiting to escape. Ashamed of how far he’s fallen, Blake refuses to confide in his band mates for fear of their rejection and his dismissal from the band he has come to love. Blake turns to an online support group and strikes an unlikely, and ultimately, life saving friendship with a woman who moderates the chat room. As their friendship deepens over time and moves from internet chats to phone calls, Blake makes the life changing decision to fly to Australia to meet his mystery friend he thinks of as his “Angel. Did I mention he has no idea what she looks like?

Gabi Smith knows what the man on the other end of the phone looks like. How could she not? He’s a rock god and he’s flown all the way to Australia to see her. She didn’t expect Blake to take her invitation to visit seriously but now that he’s in front of her, she can’t think straight. To her he’s more than just another rock star celebrity, he’s her friend. Her gorgeous, magnetic, made for sin, friend. When their relationship takes on a more intimate tone, she can’t believe it’s true. However, Blake’s demons have come back to torment him and Gabi’s not sure if she can save Blake this time.

Passionate Addiction is the second book in the Reckless Beat series and is definitely one of my favorite reads this year. It’s a contemporary romance that doesn’t try too hard to impress and doesn’t feel like the author was trying to check off as many things on the “Popular Trends checklist as possible. I think it was brilliant for author Eden Summers to have Blake to establish a strong bond with a woman he couldn’t see, thereby allowing him to be more of himself and really get to know Gabi without the influence of her looks clouding his judgment.

Blake may be the bad boy of Reckless Beat but he doesn’t fight his feelings for Gabi any more than he fights the changes that start to happen in his life. That was part of his appeal to me. The bad boy that wants to be reformed, who wants that special woman in his life and will do anything to make her happy and to make himself worthy of her.

I loved Blake and Gabi’s friendship. It was strong and based on mutual affection and respect that made for a strong foundation for their romance to grow on, and though the erotic scenes were still present, Passionate Addiction is more about the emotional journey between two people who seem like total opposites on the surface. I think that’s part of what made this book such a great read for me.

As with the first book, Passionate Addiction brings such entertaining humor whenever two or more members of the band are in the same room. I love the sarcastic, pre-pubescent humor that the guys all have. Their humor hasn’t changed one bit and I hope it never does. I can’t wait to see who’s next in the series.

Blake Kennedy is most definitely a Rock God. I really enjoyed reading this book about Blake and Gabrielle. The way that Eden wrote these characters and gave them these qualities like insecurity, loneliness, fear of losing the one you love; it's a bit unusual. But god, I fall in love with these characters precicely because they are flawed, unperfect and humans making mistakes just like the rest of us. We just don't usually see past the bright lights and the story the media wants to tell. Eden lets us know that it's not always sunshine and roses, like we would like to think. That they stuggle with real-life problems just as real as our own, and sometimes a bit more complicated. You know it's always more complicated when money is involved. When I read these books about Reckless Beat, I feel like I'm getting an inside look at what these all too-human people go through. I'm sure it's not easy to live a life in the glare of bright lights, not to mention the pressure to do the right things, project the "right" image. It's no wonder they have problems. I loved that Gabi was there for Blake when he needed someone the most, without knowing who he was, as a friend. And then continued with that friendship after finding out who he was. Then to have that friendship turn to something more? That's amazing, and well worth it in the end. I sincerely can't wait for the next book in the series and wonder which band member it will focus on, or could the focus be on Leah, their manager? Either way, no matter who it's about; I want to read it and continue getting to know these amazing characters. Another book well written by Eden, she never disappoints with her writing and her characters are fantastically broken, and not where you would think. It's always a pleasure to read anything that Eden has written.

I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Ok I have to say that I loved the first book Blind Attraction, but this one was my favorite. Oh Blake, Blake, Blake that boy is full of passion and hottness. I love the fact that he looked for help with his addiction. When he found Gabi online he truly found his guardian angel. They became best friends over four years of just talking online or on social network or with Skype. But they had never seen each other in person until Blake shows up in Australia to surprise Gabi on her birthday. Of course Shea seen pictures of him on the internet but he has no clue what she looks like. When they finally meet in person he cannot believe his eyes. Gabi is the most beautiful thing he's ever laid eyes on. They have loved each other as friends for years and leaned on each other for support. Now they are lusting after one another. Things quickly become very physical. They fall into more deep passionate love now. But Blake's past comes back with a vengeance. And instead of being honest with Gabi completely he tries to be a man and fix the situation himself. And the thing is she knows of his past mistakes and would have helped him. But he pushes her away and tries to make the blackmail situation go away on his own. They are both heartbroken and absolutely miserable apart. But finally with the help of his band he admits the she truth to the world. No more hiding. And he man's up and goes after the love of his life Gabi. I loved loved this book and these characters so very much. I hope there is a book about each guy in the band. I love them all.

Ok, I was fortunate to have found this awesome author Eden Summers. I love stories about rock bands and totally fell in love with Reckless Beat. In Blind Attraction, we were introduced to the very sexy Blake Kennedy. In Passionate Addiction (Reckless Beat #2), we get to know Blake. Much to my surprise there was a lot more to Blake then was shared in the first book. Eden tackled the very difficult subject of drug addiction and redemption with Blake. While dealing with this she crafted a very clever story of romance and second chances. Blake meets Gabi in chat room, while trying to kick his drug addiction. A long distance relationship develops over the next four years. Blake finally comes looking for Gabi and lets just say the sparks fly. Because they have spent so much time getting to know each other, their relationship goes full throttle. Of course with every great story the relationship gets tested with demons from the past. But Blake finds that he has the love and support of his band mates. I will not spoil the end of the book. Let's just say I could not put it down. I absolutely loved this book and would highly recommend reading it. Great job Eden.
Looking forward to Reckless Weekend.

I have mixed feelings about the book. I like Blake and I think that Gabi is the perfect person for him. She never judged him and was always there for him before they ever met, so why would things be any different now that they have met? Parts of the story seemed to drag and at times I felt were repetitive. It figures that his past would come back and haunt him. Despite his behavior, he finds out who his real family is. I don't know what the deal is with the guys in the band wanting to move things real but it does make them seem like the type of guys you never want to let go. With Ryan, you feel real bad for him with everything that happens. I hope there is a book with his story

Love the friends to lovers vibe here and that the hero finally took a chance.

A lot of drama could have been avoided though if they just had communicated more.

Still a solid read for me and one that I enjoy rereading.

Read more of my reviews and ramblings at

is the second in the Reckless Beat Series by Eden Summers. I have read a few of her books and have enjoyed them all. The first book in the series is () which took me by surprise how much I enjoyed it. I read it back in June, right before and was crazed with the planning, but Blind Attraction was enough to distract me. This time, I read Passionate Addiction during Thanksgiving/Hanukkah weekend, crazed with family and sales and giveaways, and again, Eden was able to make me forget, if just for a short time.
“You saved my life. I never want to forget that. Even when I’m old and senile. Even if we drift apart. No matter what happens, I will always hold you close to my heart.

Blake is the rhythm guitarist for Reckless Beat. Right when the band was taking off, he had a girlfriend, Michelle, who was bad news, and got him quickly hooked on coke. The band is anti-drug, and he knew he needed help, so he logged into an online support group and an angel saved him. Over the next 5+ years, Blake and Gabi, his angel, formed an online friendship...more than friendship -- BEST friends. But they never met in person.

Gabi knew who Blake was, the famous rock God who she would fantasize about being more than friends with. Blake loved Gabi, though over 5 years, he never even saw a picture of her. Gabi was everything to him, she was his angel, savior and demon slayer, before he ever laid eyes on her. Until Blake shows up in Australia days before the tour goes there to surprise Gabi on her birthday.

She was more beautiful than he ever imagined, but he was determined not to fuck up their amazing friendship. Not until she made it clear she wanted him as badly as he wanted her.
"I want to make love to you," he said between breathless nips to her lips. "I want to spend all night inside you. Touching you. Tasting you." His arms circled her back, hugging her close. "I'm never going to want to stop."

Once they were truly together, their bond seemed so strong, nothing could tear them apart.
“What will it take, angel? His hands slid around her waist to grip her ass. “For me to be your everything?

Except for the fact that Blake was a STUPID FUCKING ASSHOLE!!!!!!! Ugh! He PISSED ME OFF!!! I mean, he had good reasoning, but should have realized he was fucking up way earlier than he did. That's all I'll say there.

Despite Blake pissing me off, and there being some majorly avoidable angst, I still really enjoyed Passionate Addiction, it was a quick, sexy and hot read. We got to visit with the couple from the first book, but I don't believe it is necessary to read it first. Each story stands alone.

Likes:

Sexy rock stars!
Fun, engrossing read.
I really liked both characters very much.
Gabi was a very strong female lead. who is honest and upfront.
Very strong character building.
The band interactions. These guys are close but bicker and fight like brothers, with love underneath it all.
Blake's desire to make sure he doesn't tarnish the band's name, he really was a good guy.
Some really cute lines that made me giggle.
That Gabi fought and wouldn't let Blake get away with that shit.

Dislikes:

Blake's over-the top, flowery proclamations of love for his angel. It was a little too much, he was a little wimpy.
Blake's stupidity! Why he would risk the best thing in his life was just beyond me.
I would have liked to see a little more over the 5 years. The prologue is when they meet online, then they jump 5 years. I would have loved to see more in the intervening years.

Rating: 4 stars 4.25 heat

I enjoyed Passionate Addiction very much. If you like Rock Star books, this is one of my top rock star series. You can , and this is listed. I just wish stupidity wasn't the cause of the drama. It started out with Blake being so over the top crazy about his angel and savior who he shared everything with to him being a total fool and deserving to lose her forever. Blake may be a rock god, but he was just a little to wimpy for my taste. Still, it was steamy, sexy and fun, but just a little too flowery and predictable for me to rate it higher.

Blake finally meets his Gabi. The one person in the world that could calm him and bring him back from the brink. The romance of the music, the life style, the passion, the explosion of chemistry, the connection that made it all worth the risk and sacrifice. One wrong turn leads Blake to his angel. For years they have worked on building that connection that was stronger than any he had had in life. Their bond gets tested and life takes on the bonds built over time.

This was emotional. This held life choices that had to be made and accepted. Gabi was the rock that held his world up for so long that he was unsure if he could do it on his own. The darkness was there. The grit of the conflict going on in Blake’s life was there. The turmoil. The strength of Gabi. She was one strong woman. She knew herself well enough to know what her limits were and how far to push things.

There are still rich characters. The strength of band. The music lifestyle. You must read it to understand the depth of pressure, guilt, denial, realization and so forth that progresses through Blake on his journey.

I wanted so to give it a five but there was just something missing that did not take me over the top.

Passionate Addiction begins a few years before book one, and it introduces us to a past that Blake has managed to keep a secret from everyone in the band. Shortly after joining Reckless Beat, he got swept up in the cliche lifestyle of a rock star, met a woman who he fell hard for, but she also introduced him to drugs. To his credit, he realized he was on a path of self destruction and managed to get out of it. He kicked the drugs, and Michelle, to the curb. But every recovering addict needs a support system. Since no one in the band could find out, he found an online support group, and with it he found Gabrielle Smith. Fast forward four years and they’d remained in touch, shared every detail of their lives, and become best friends. Best friends who had never met in person. On her birthday, Blake decides to surprise her. When they meet, the attraction that had built over the years of communication is strong. After some initial awkwardness, they finally get over it and give in to what they’d both been hoping for. It doesn’t take long for feelings of love to surface, but along the way, Blake’s past comes back to haunt him and threatens to ruin everything.

Wow. While Blind Attraction had it’s fair share of drama, I wasn’t prepared for the author to up the ante so quickly. I thought Ms Summers did a very good job of setting the tone from the first page. With Blake’s history and Gabrielle’s tragic experience with drug addiction, it was clear that these two would be tested.

I immediately liked the heroine because she seemed to be a no-nonsense type of person. She was a woman who lived a no frills life. She was compassionate which was evident in her support group work and also in private with Blake. I also liked that she made it clear from the onset that she had a simple requirement she wouldn’t tolerate dishonesty or secrets. I say simple because it really should have been simple for them. They’d spent years sharing every thought, so why should that change in person? Apparently, desperation makes people do stupid things, and poor Blake wasn’t an exception.

Blake was a great flawed hero. His greatest traits where his protectiveness of his band mates and Gabrielle, but also his willpower to stay on the straight and narrow. The band was his family, and with that in mind, it became clear to what lengths he’d go to to not disappoint them or tarnish their name.

There were so many lovely moments in this story between the two of them and their growing relationship, especially their “thing about when saying I Love You counts and doesn’t count. It was a running theme throughout the story that was adorable. I was rooting for them all the way……until it became glaringly obvious where they were headed. I am not a fan of predictability, so I was rather disappointed when I saw the train wreck looming ahead. In Blake’s defense, I totally understood where he was coming from. Four years ago, Gabi saved him, and had been saving him ever since. Now was his opportunity to man up and stand on his own two feet and save himself without her involvement. I got that, but not that he knowingly allowed it to come at the expense of his relationship which would mean breaking Gabi’s one rule. I wish he would have told her what was going on and solved his skanky problem at the same time. Everything about Gabi’s personality leading up to that point told me that she would have understood and stepped back. How he could be so clueless and hope she wouldn’t find out, given his status and what he was asked to do, made him come across as the exact opposite of what he was trying to achieve. Anyway, that was the low point for me. The high points were all the scenes where the whole band got together. There was a lot of teasing and ribbing, more drama surrounding Ryan that has me dying to read his story. Even Leah has piqued my interest.

Overall, I found this to be an intense read in terms of what I’m used to by this author. I’ve read all her books thus far, and I’ve come to love her writing style and her prose. This is the first time she has managed to take me by surprise with the angst. I will continue with this series because I have come to care about the characters by now, and I need to know what else the author will throw in their paths to happiness. I plan on purchasing the series in paperback when it's complete.

Favorite lines:

“What will it take, angel? His hands slid around her waist to grip her ass. “For me to be your everything?
~*~
“What? he pushed onto his elbows and frowned down at her. “You don’t like the thought of my baby gravy all over your body?

“Yuck, Blake. She squirmed under him.

He responded by lightly biting the skin of her neck, making her squeal.

“In me? She nodded. “On me? Maybe. Smeared all over my body like you’re icing a cake? Piss off.
~*~
“Well, hello, foxy lady.

Her mouth gaped, and she had to concentrate to snap it closed. Mason Lynch. She swallowed hard, resting her hand on her stomach to calm the fluttering butterflies. Was there a correct way to respond to that type of greeting?

“Fuck off, Lynch. Blake chuckled.

Well, OK, apparently Blake knew how.

I am loving this series and Eden summers knows how to write a great rock star romance with really unique stories to go with them

I loved this story as I haven't read a book with this kind of story on meeting on line but becoming best friends and not meeting each other until 4 years later.

Blake has demons and to help him he starts talking to Gabi who lives on the other side of the world in Australia to help talk him through his addictions and really try and get his life back on track. I loved Blake I thought he was actually a sweet guy and really wanted to be the best he could be.

Gabi was also a really sweet character and I loved how connected she was to Blake even though they hadn't met. She had been through quite a bit in her life and was just wanted to help everybody that she could especially with what happened to her brother.

This story kept me so interested, it wasn’t all happy times and they really had there tough times and it was such a journey they went through and I loved reading their story.

Loved everything about this book and it was such a great story and if you love the hot tattooed, sexy guitar player than this one is for you

i think that this book has a good story, but i don´t really like that everything goes so fast. i prefer books where we can actually know something about the characters before the romance starts.

You saved my soul. Gave me new meaning. Fought against my demons, while I lay sleeping.~Angel of Mine by Reckless Beat

I adored Blake in and was hoping that he would be the subject of book 2. So I was so excited! I love the premise of his story. It is current and relevant.

She was his savior...his best friend...his Angel. It all started in an internet support chat room. Gabi reached out to him and pulled Blake through a difficult recovery. Four years later, they finally meet in person. Their feelings that had build over time online and in calls, are all apparent as they finally come face to face. They are connected, soulmates, and have strong feelings.

There was no question. No doubt. Fate had pushed them together, and now, he only needed to prove that he deserved to keep the gift.

Nobody should be that sinful. A rich, talented, bad boy all rolled up into a package of I-don't-give-a-shit, I-know-how-good-I-look.

In the first book, we mostly see Blake as a crack up who is always torturing his band mates. He's funny, flirty, and sarcastic. In this one we also see both the damaged man who feels unworthy and the one who has found purpose and love. He can be romantic, passionate, and completely swoony. But he still has demons from his past that affect his self image and threaten his happiness. And he has to find the inner strength and will to face them. My heart broke for him at times as he struggled.

I loved Gabi. She is supportive, caring, sassy and sweet. She compliments Blake in every way and has been his lifeline and constant support. She accepts him with his faults and tries her best to make him feel better about himself. She has had her own share of sadness in her life, but does not let it keep her down.

Together they were simply adorable and had an easy going rapport. They were there for each other when they both needed someone. They have the intense chemistry and attraction, and the strong feelings to back it up. They are surprisingly functional and their relationship itself did not have a lot of drama or fighting. It was as if they were just meant to be and it all just clicked when they finally met.

"The whole feverish lust and raging erection kinda puts a new spin on our friendship, doesn't it?"
"Yeah, it kinda does."
"You wanna see where it takes us?"

Everything seems perfect...except for perhaps the fact that they live on different continents. But then Blake's past comes back to haunt him just reminding him of his darkest fears and that he is unworthy. Secrets, lies, and drama spiral out of control. Poor Blake tries to make things right, but does not always make the best choices. And then the drama and angst really begin. It made me tense and frustrated, but all along I was totally invested in this couple.

You're my passionate addiction, the only high I crave....

I enjoyed seeing more in the relationship progression of Mitch and Alana from . And more with the band Mason, Sean, and Ryan as well as their manager Leah. I can already see some stories swirling around with Mason and also Sean with some familiar women and Ryan is having his own issues.

I love this series and these characters. They have depth and are truly likable. Their interactions are funny and sarcastic. They truly make a family and would do anything for the others. But also love teasing and taunting each other. This was sweet, sexy, heartbreaking, tense, romantic, emotional, and heartwarming. Eden Summer's writing style is engaging and the flows very well. I am looking forward to more in the series and with these characters. On her website, she teases us with a novella for this series with multiple characters points of view called Reckless Weekend coming in 2014 and she is not saying who is the subject of the next novel, but my vote is Mason...or Sean...umm, no, Mason....she will surprise us!

Thanks to Eden Summers for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review. Will be posted at
