The Littlest Assassin-Shifters

Rate this book
The men of the Skull Blaster unit have spent most of their lives fighting together for a safer world, first in the military and now as an elite team supervised by Homeland Security. Now they have an even more pressing reason to make the world a better place.

Their children are about to be born.

Mateo Esposito grew up in foster homes, alone and cynical, grateful for the day he could be on his own. When fate upset his ordered life with innocent Riley Flynn, he didn't stand a chance against love. Now the soulmates are expecting two bundles of joy.

Sam Waters found new life when he married Dakota Cadotte, the man with eyes like stars. Unaware Dakota was a werewolf when they met, Sam has now embraced the life he's been given with the man he loves. They also are expecting a baby any day now.

When the time comes, the babies enter the world with a roar! Tears and hugs are shared, and life's road takes a definite twist as secrets and surprises are revealed.

But chaos is nothing new for these men, is it?

I have been blessed in this life to not only have parents that support me, but kids that do as well. I grew up in a loving but "Old School" French household. My parents worked for the airlines (TWA) so I was able to see a lot of Europe as a kid. I moved to Seattle Washington at the age of 22 and stayed there for twelve years before moving to Alaska for a little over two. Fairbanks, AK was one hell of an experience and I wouldn't hesitate to go back! I spent a little over a year in South Carolina before moving back to Arizona. I then left for Kansas for five years and now reside in Arizona. I've been connected to the military in one way or another for over half my life and wouldn't change a thing about it. Writing has become my full time job and I've never been so happy doing a job I love and being able to do it in my jammies. I plan on writing until I dry up and die. Hopefully, that won't happen soon!

I still like these stories and I can't help but be curious about what happens next but I am getting so lost and confused with so many characters???

Wouldn't it be easier to split them into smaller linked series?

I just think I could keep the character's names and personalities straight in my head if the books were set in smaller groups. Also it's hard when a character is introduced into the story and you don't learn from that character what his history is and why we should care about him.

It's more like oh ya Vince remember him he killed 12 people and the famous 13th character and everyone nods and agrees and then suddenly Vince is there interacting with the rest of the group and the famous 13th character isn't dead.....SURPRISE!

I don't normally write reviews but I like this author. I think she has great ideas. I read her other series and I feel like those characters are better defined, and they show me who they are as opposed to another character making a reference to them and suddenly they are part of the story.

** Probably spoilers. Since nothing much else happens... **

Meh. Filler, really.

This book is like fan-fiction of a particular type like a really pointless fanservice interlude. Just that in this case the service is all about mushy-happy and kiddie-cute and less about sex. As such it’s not an offensive story, but not much of a story either.

The werebabies are clearly are on steroids, not behaving like any we heard of or have seen before.
Not only do they shift right away, no. Even as newborns they are all perfectly self-aware and cognizant too. No need to teach them to understand language or for them to learn how to walk or run. What is even the hell.

Jeez, all those ancestors coming back for a chat and a hug It’s ridiculous even beyond the established silliness of the series. Also, when you have multiple characters with the same name in a scene, you can’t just use the name to refer to them, you have to differentiate somehow. Please differentiate.

And that scene at the end when they’re at the club Uh. How old are they supposed to be again? This is total frat party behaviour. Or spring break? I am not impressed.

Sam smiled. Even though Kane was his biologically, Dakota thought of him as his own son. He loved that about his husband.

What do you mean “even though? You guys planned the pregnancy together. He better think of Kane as his own son too! Don’t even try to sell this to me as something special. You guys are way too hung up on genetics. Seriously. I’m thinking I might be offended after all.

*huff*

Have to say this was probably my least favorite of all in this series. I'm not a huge fan of kids in my stories to begin with, but I do make exceptions from time to time. Yes, the kids were cute here, but at times, I was thinking the guys were going to have to call the Supernanny. They were really running these men ragged at times. Anyhoo, the story is mostly surrounding the guys all adjusting to life with kids.

If you've read this series, you'll understand about the parental visits from beyond. I enjoyed them, the first few times, but when the same thing kept happening with different visits to each guy, it got very repetitive, and I was ready to move on.

Near the end, when Mateo goes back to work, the story finally seems to be going in a direction that could be a set up for the next book. Other than a few random events, such as the strange things going on with the black magic, this new character introduced seems to be the way things are headed. I'm looking forward to seeing if that's the case. There are an insane number of characters in this series, and I will admit that I never remember who everyone is. This installment gave me a little more trouble with this than any of the previous ones, but I'm still really enjoying it and am eager for the next one.

This kind of felt like finishing up a Fair Isle sweater. All those billions of different colored ends that need to be woven in before you can move on. Kind of like a reunion flashback and recap episode. Little hints of what might be to come, but not a lot of moving forward or any big cohesive plot for this one. But I think the sweater is finished. Now we can cast on the next story without being snagged on the unfinished sweater in the basket.

Not my favorite of the series, but shifter puppies are always cute. These are always quick and fun to read.

“Trust me, my refusal to defile a classic car with vinyl doesn’t make me a bad father, Mateo laughed, dodging Riley’s swipe.

“Well, don’t blame me when they end up in therapy, Riley snorted.

Mateo doubled over with laughter. “Oh, trust me; there will be plenty for them to bring to the couch.

Just then, Vince stepped into the house with a huge grin. “Who’s ready to go fuck with people? They all raised their hands.

Can you love a series and not a particular book in that series? Sadly, yes, and this was that book for me. I seriously love all these guys, truly I do, but I much prefer the romance and fighting over the kids and ghosts.

With that sad, it was still well written, I enjoyed catching back up with the guys, and I am absolutely stoked for Hayden and Jude...that story should be awesome!

What I liked :
- I'm looking forward to Kane and Matty's story. Mated as a newborn? How cool is that, right.

What I disliked :
- Still too many people in here. Too crowded.
- It's too full of kids. No offense. I love kids. Just not too much.

Original Blog Post:

The Littlest Assassin-Shifters has one of the more interesting blurbs I have encountered that did not reveal in any way whatever contents could be found inside this book. That said, for those who just want to sit back and relax, read a no-brainer story, and giggle their way throughout, then this is the book to pick up.

There are shape-shifters, there are vampires, there is the weirdest of paranormal activity without going all Warren Files over, and the littlest, cutest, shape-shifters ever written about complete with claws, fangs and mating bites. Yep folks, you have got to read how the cutest mating among the youngest of the tribe that puts Jacob's imprinting on Renesme to shame.

The whole book is fun, sweet, romantic, gory (giving birth is always gory no matter how one glosses over the whole event), and haunting (ghosts galore). However, you readers must be prepared for something different about the whole set up of this one: the whole thing reads like a bunch of Epilogues thought up by the author, shaken and stirred and then dumped onto an ebook format. The read is like one jumbled up afterthoughts and yet, they do mesh together in a weird way. Don't get me wrong about this comment, this is written with all the best intentions, it is just how I saw it. It was a little bit confusing at times for suddenly something pops up and then another and so on and so forth. At the very end of the book is the Finale or (strangely named) Epilogue. You got it folks, this is one huge bundle of Epilogues with a final Epilogue.

This is a no-brainer book but in the best possible way. It was fun and sweet and there were times when I had to reach out for that tissue box I leave on the coffee table for just these unexpectedness (is this even a word?). I totally enjoyed myself with this one despite the fact that this whole set-up goes against my OC for character and plot development. The point is: I loved this book and am most likely going to read it again.

And again.

And again.

And again.

Not as strong story-wise as some of the others in this series, but I rounded up 3.5 to 4, because I enjoyed getting some of the familial history. Loved that some characters were given a chance to speak with their dearly departed family members, too. Young werewolves, female werewolves on anti-depressants to help calm their feral natures, and pesky spirits from the otherworld.I'm a UF junkie....... Hard not to like the broad spectrum of supernatural creatures that are in full force in this installment. Will continue with the series. (It just keeps going, and going, and going........)

This should be called Assassin/Shifter: The Reunion. I loved it! It was different from all of the other books in that it wasn't anyone's story - it was everyone's story. It was so nice revisiting all the boys. And the babies! FINALLY! It seems as though I have been waiting for years for the little rugrats. I can't wait for the next one!

I was really excited to read about the babies and to be honest I'm a little bummed. Too much of the supernatural in this one for me and it became a little overly cheesy. I love the series and this will not stop me from reading it, but I did not love this one like I have some of the others.

Not my favorite of the series. This is more like in other series when they have a book that's a .5 or the like. It's a filler to show changes that occur without really anything else solid. No true plot line just a bunch of stuff that happens to the men that might be important to those who read they series and possibly with the future books in the series.

Another great add to the series. This book isn't centered around a specific couple this time but two who are waiting for their babies. This was adorable and shocking things do happen. I can't wait to see these adorable kids in future books.

The babies are here! Mateo Esposito and Sam Waters are hard core Assassins. Members of the elite ‘Skull Blasters unit, these no guts no glory guys have seen everything. Except the females shifters of their extended group giving birth. Mateo and his husband Riley are now the proud parents of twins, Matty and Maggie. While Sam and his husband Dakota have a bouncing baby boy, Kane. Newborns are a handful to begin with, imagine adding to that shifting and the ability to tell the future. Some unexpected twists and turns have a few of our assassins becoming shifters, but that’s become par for the course throughout this series.

The entire family, shifters and assassins, come together to help the guys adjust to parenting so we get to catch up with a lot of our favorite characters in the series. Some events for the outreach center that Riley and Caden started for LGBT youth brings some of our newest favorites to the series back into the forefront as well.

This is an involved series that involves a lot of characters, and Gasq-Dion introduces possible newbies in each and every book. But the writing keeps the stories fresh so the reader doesn’t get weighted down in repetitiveness. I love how each book centers on just one or a couple of couples, and yet you still are in the know with the majority of the characters within the series. Everyone is always woven into that specific storyline somewhere. Gasq-Dion could probably write dozens of books in this series and manage to maintain your interest every step of the way.

There are definitely some knock your socks off chapters in this book as well with Mateo and Riley’s impromptu office romp, and if Sam and Dakota aren’t the sexiest wolves ever, I don’t know who is! This is by far my favorite M/M series, if you haven’t read it yet, I have to ask “why the hell not?! I suggest you start with book one though, these aren’t stand alone books and they need to be read in order so you can enjoy the beauty of each as they progress.

If you are a fan of this series don't miss this book. This book kind of revolves around Riley & Mateo and Sam & Dakota but that is because they know everyone and everyone she can possibly update she brings up to date in this book. It's wonderful. Riley & Mateo's twins are born, Maggie & Matty (boy) werewolf. Sam & Dakota's son, Kane is born the next alpha werewolf and mate to Matty. The antics of the children was the most enjoyable part of the story. Well not the completely most enjoyable part cause it is a story about a lot of sexy men. They did have sex in this book but not tons like the other books cause now they have kids and we all know what that does to the sex lives when they are born. Anyway, this story mostly revolves around family and families. It's full of love in how much the husbands & partners love each other and how much the new parents love their children. Some of it is about mending fences before it's too late with family members. That sounds somber but most of the book is joyful in love and happiness. Like I mentioned she brings back almost every main character from almost every major storyline, I've never seen that done before in a series that has this many books. I couldn't wait to see who would show up next. She brought up characters from the last book to leave some future storylines open. I HIGHLY recommend this book!!

I just loved this book because if you have been following this series this was a really great book to read to go back to all the characters you love and read about. I think we all have our favorite characters and Riley is definitely one of mine because he is such a loving and giving person and I'm so glad we got to see that even after 10 yrs of being together with Mateo the spark is still there even if they weren't mated totally natural chemistry! Heres a good question for the author, what now, is there now (without giving away the book) a mate out there for each of them? Wouldn't that throw drama and complications in there, not that I would want that because I just love the couple the way they are. This book made me laugh so much with the little ones running around. Sandrine is so sneaky too with making you want more and more from this series, she gives you just a little to keep you on pins and needles waiting for the next book to come out!!! Like now I can't wait to read about Elijah and Skylar and now she threw in the shape shifter as well. What a wonderful author with a great imagination and a list of characters that never bores you. All in all this was a really good book and it was really good to read about all the characters in the previous books and you may have forgotten how much you loved. Thank you

I have to say, of all the couples in this series I love Mateo and Reily couple the most.(*´v`*)
(my second is Lyons and Andrei, and my third is Sam and Dakota)
They are so adorable and perfect together, and Reily is my most favourite character.
Just his appearance could brighten the situations, and he brings everyone (included me) smiles.
I admitted I bought all the series just to read some of Reily and Mateo's appearances in each book, and I'm so happy I could get this one with much of their story again, and that with their babies!! (*^o^*)
It's the result of love of the couples in the series. I couldn't thanks the author enough for this book. As a fan that has been following their lives I really needed this continuous story.

Well, I'd like to say you can read this book alone and enjoy it, but really, you should read at least book 1-4 first to get to know this Skull Blasters team and you will fall in love with our assassins too.(^_-)-*

This book is a little different than the others because this one focuses on Rielly and Mateo's twins and Dakota and Sam's son. In Ireland, the women are about to give birth to the kids so they jump in the jet and head over there. Sam and Mateo have no desire to get near the females or the birthing, but their men won't let them off the hook. Now, being part of this series, you know nothing is simple and some amazing things happen when the kids are born. Both boys have the sight, and that explains why Matty does something no one saw coming. And Kane is going to be the future of the wolves! But don't despair! We get to see all of our favorite guys together for the Pride event, and maybe the babies know who belongs with whom when Hayden and Jude feed the warepups. And of course, you have to have a trip to our favorite gay bar that is a riot! Every book in this series is so good! I don't know how Sandy does it! But I am glad she does. Don't miss this book!

I don't understand why these books are like crack for me, but they are. This is a wonderful continuation of the series that refocuses on some of the original characters at the beginning of the series. Its a look into the lives of several couples after they have been married for over 10 years and their dreams of having children arrives is bang-up style.

These are by no means literary genius, they are just wonderful easy, angst free reads, and who doesn't enjoy those from time to time. If you have not read any of these books, I will tell you now you definitely need to read from the beginning. There are too many characters and story threads to keep straight. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Imagine my great delight and joy to find not only one, but two Assassin/Shifter stories released within one month. I have read every one of these stories from cover to cover and some of them more than once or even twice. I was also VERY pleased to note that Sandrine had also created a “family tree for all the characters in this series. I plan on printing that out and referring to it often.

The latest stories, “The Littlest Assassin/Shifters and “Lessons Learned continue the saga of the Assassin/Shifter series.

I am looking forward to the next stories as the group continues to fight the rogue wolves and find love among each other as well as make the world a safer and better place.

Well done Sandrine!!!

This by far is one of my favorites. Mainly because it goes back to the core couple that started it all. Riley and Mateo. I love the fact that Sandrine always brings back previous characters into the newest books, so this was one of those that I screamed happily for. Mateo and Riley's twins are born, as is Sam and Dakota's child and the aftermath is hilarious.

I have to disagree with some reviewers about the ghostly visits, I actually loved them! It brought closure to quite a few of our guys (Wyatt anyone?) I cried reading them all.

SPOILER*

I love that Matty and Kane were mated at birth! Now we get to watch them grow up and get front row seats to their love story!

BRING THEM ON!! LOYAL FAN HERE!!!

Boring.

Jumping your husband during a team meeting and being carried out in his arms and then having (not quiet) sex in the conference room is not appropriate behavior for the CEO of a company. It does not engender a comfortable work environment for most people.

Everything is too perfect. Dead parents coming back from heaven to tell children they love them and are okay with them being gay. Evil father in prison suddenly all loving. All babies born at the same time. No plot, conflict, anything. This felt like a personal fantasy rather than a novel. Ugh.

Just boring.

I enjoyed this one, but not as much as the others. I don't really like "Let's catch up with everyone" books unless it is about a specific couple because it becomes too confusing. This story caught up with so many couples that I found myself rereading sections. It was nice to see the kids being born and what happens with some of the couples though. This is still one of my favorite series.
