Book four in the Brothers of Rock series - BURIED NOTES
Finally exposing a secret to his band after years of hiding, Chasing Cross bassist, Chris, confesses that some years ago, during a wild night, he ended up marrying someone. It was supposed to be a no-big-deal kind of thing, with a stipulation... if one of them fell in love or wanted to get married to someone else, they would divorce.
Chris has been served divorce papers, and it should be easy to just sign them, but he can't. His heart won't allow it.
Becky loses her mother to breast cancer and realizes that life sometimes really is too short. She finds the ring she received from a sexy rockstar the night she secretly married him. The memory should have been fun, but after being pushed into a corner to stay married while that rockstar's band took off, Becky can't do it anymore.
She sends divorce papers and waits... and waits... and weeks after sending the papers, she wonders what's taking so long...
In a journey that forces Chris to step back in time to find his future, he knows he needs to find Becky - his wife. He isn't sure what he'll find, but he knows he wants the truth.
Was it love back then? Or just a crazy night with a rockstar?
OOh Chris, Handsome built but with a caring and thoughtful side, we only really was the party side of Chris before, not knowing he was holding a huge secret like marriage.
Rebecca (Becky), what is it about nicknames!! She is an enigma, who would accept that !
I loved this story, finding out how he met Becky, she was this straight forward girl, who happened to save Chris's ass, she has balls. Under her tough exterior was a vulnerable girl who was sensible enough to accept what was going on.
Being served divorce papers was hard for Chris, as he had got so wrapped up in the bank that he put his marriage out of his mine, it got him thinking about the girl he left behind.
It was great to catch a glimpse of the younger band, their friendship went way back.
Rebecca had been married for all intents and purposes all her relationships had been measured on what happened with Chris.
It was the death of her mother that prompted her to make the bold move, and what a move! she was running the bakery which was her forever dream, but there was always something or someone missing.
What she didn't realise that it was Chris that was her missing piece.
You can understand the bands manager Peter, trying to keep things under wraps but throughout all the books in this series, there has been an underlying attitude with each member of the bank. They all clearly love their job in th4e bank, but are humble enough that they are all 'real'. There is nothing pretentious about them.
There was a couple of moments where you thought thats it, its all over, when the storyline moved in a different direction, certainly kept you thoroughly interested until the very end.
Ooh what an ending - always thought Rick was going to do something explosive and unexpected - now need the next book to see what happens.
Chris has a secret and its time to tell. One night of romance turns into a Vegas trip and a marriage. Becky loves him and has remained married to him secretly for all this time. When she sends him divorce papers, she doesn't know what to think until he shows up and sweeps her off her feet once again. They discuss everything and finally decide that it's time to stop hiding. Chris signs the papers to keep Peter at bay but when it backfires, he has to backpedal quickly to save his relationship and marriage to Becky.
This book was heartbreaking. Two people that fell I. Love and have to hide it from everyone they know.
Great read. Excellent storyline with yummy characters. 5 huge stars.
3.5 to 4, It's a fast read and a classic plot of fast & wild...then gone as quickly as it started. but of course that long lost love returns and all is well...Well, not all well, but it does end happy. .except for that band thing...I guess I'll have to keep going. my only complaint was the constantly using their names in every sentence. They are the only ones in the room, I don't need Becky this and Chris that on every other line. It took away from what was actually happening when a she or he would have worked just fine! On to last song...let's hear Rick' s storey
I agree the third book in the series is my favorite, but this was quite a love story between Chris and Becky. The bassist from Chasing Cross sure brings the passion and throughout the book the author continues to build the "family" these "brothers of rock" live. Johnnie's patriarchal ways keep them close, but Rick . . . well he's just not found his passion yet. We'll see what #5 holds for us on Rock on!!
Chris had been kinda quite throughout the series so far, but I think that's because it's just his character. I enjoyed this story, and you get the sense of loneliness from Chris that I'm sure all the guys have felt. I just liked Chris. He struggles a little not to turn to alcohol like his other band member, Rick, and he does it in his own quiet way. He pulls you in as he decides what to do about his divorce.
So at book #4 in this series and I have not been disappointed yet. This was another well written book. Any time you can feel the sadness in your chest during parts of the story, you know the author has done a great job in relaying whatever feelings she is trying to bring out in the book.
CHRIS, the light hearted fun loving bassist for the band, meets and marries "Becky". It was a spur of the moment, half drunk fantasy, one passion filled night in Vegas. After 5 years of still married but not seeing each other, Becky sends Chris device papers. The story is about the road to signing Theo papers. Another delicious story in the series.
This book was so much better than the last 3! The characters were so much better developed and their interactions flowed and made much more sense. There were still a lot of grammar and editing issues, but exponentially better than books 1-3. Moving on to book 5.
I love love love this series. This is the 4th book in the series. This book is based on Chris the bassist in Chasing Cross. I highly recommend this series if you have not read it yet. I got this book from the author as a gift.
Arc review For honest review. Wow Chris and Rebecca's story is of lost love found. Married but not married. These characters have grown as they have gotten older but respect for each other was always there.
I continue to like this series, but Chris' book just seemed to go on and on and then just ends abruptly. Chris & Becky finally deserved to have there Happy Ever After...she is a true Gem!!!
I did like this book! Better than some of the others! I did get a bored at points but overall a good read and I loved the relationship between Chris and Becky! I would recommend!
Excellent story, it has it all for your reading pleasure. Sex, romance, love, laughter and tears. Plus you have the hot and sexy bassist Chris. This whole series is awesome and a must read.
