The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity, Catherine Ponder
The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity (1962, released in French in 1980). Catherine Ponder (American minister of the Unity Church) offers suggestions as to "How to use the Power of Prosperous Thinking to win your goals, How certain attitudes of mind create Prosperity in you life, Why the strongest force in the world works for your benefit, Key words, phrases, meditations that work wonders of wealth, and How to use the Secret Laws of Wealth for your own happiness." Ponder's works remains a classic guide to building self-confidence, inner persistence, harmony and balance and learning the great law of reciprocity.

Years before by made The Law of Attraction popular, I came across this book while I in a psychiatric ward being treated for a manic episode of bipolar. Although this is a book about financial prosperity, it taught me to shift my focus from not getting sick to staying well. Before I learned this I had four hospital admissions for mania in five years. Now I've stayed well for twelve years. This book is gold and an absolute must-read.

I consider this to be a must read if you have any doubt that your creator wants you to be prosperous. Reverend Ponder is a Unity minister. She is the author of many books. This one presents a way of looking at your financial situation including your bills, being grateful and using affirmations to support you in becoming prosperous. The concept of the vision board from the movie "The Secret" is discussed in here and this book came out long before that movie.

I love this book. It changed my life...for the better. It has great affirmations on almost every subject. It taught me to create a vision board that all came to be within 1 year! Everytime I need to turn my negative thoughts around...I turn the pages of this book and find myself back in a positive frame of mind! Great bedside book.

This book by Catherine Ponder is the best on financial prosperity that I have read. I have read well over 200 books in the success genre (mainly older volumes like this one) and Ponder is the most plain & thorough.

Ponder explains that prosperity is God's will but that it requires beliefs and actions on our part. As with many in this genre of books, there are religious elements throughout. The key for any religion reading these books(I am a Christian) is not to suspend your core beliefs but use them as the foundation for what you are reading. Catherine is very specific with use of Bible Verses.

For me, her beliefs aligned perfectly with mine and she also reinforced a concept that was new...and scary for me at that time...tithing. Many of the current and classic prosperity and success books include gratitude but not the principle of tithing.

This work is outlined much in the way that "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill is - with chapters on Self-Confidence, Charm, Persistence, and Power of Thought. It also integrates prayer and affirmations as tools to engage the inherent power in each of us in connection with a loving God who wants to see our needs/desired met.

She uses real word testimonies that give the reader a chance to correlate the teachings to their own lives.

While the overt Biblical connections, including specific Bible verses, will not appeal to those not religiously inclined, those that are seeking in-depth reinforcement to their Sunday Sermons will find deeper revelation in this book.

This book is one of my favorites and would be one of my Top 10...I highly recommend this book!

Good supportive reading for those already schooled in success principles, but would not be my first choice for those new to the genre.

Very rarely have I read a book that started to have a positive, palpable effect--WHILE I was reading it; I usually have to digest it a bit, and maybe review certain parts. I can enthusiastically say that this work was DEFINITELY an exception! It really increased my faith--especially in the way of prosperity thinking. I was raised in a church family that promoted the same, yet my faith had faltered. This clearly-written book, with many real-life examples-started a virtual FIRESTORM in my creative thinking, and really put me in the right, positive mindset in regard to my thinking about wealth. Wealth is one of the most controversial subjects around. Many don't feel comfortable amassing it. Here in America, we spend money we DON'T have to LOOK like we're rich, and then HIDE it when-and if-we ever get it. A healthier attitude toward wealth-and DEBT-is needed. And the book even promotes viewing our debt in a positive light, and showed how it helped professional debt collectors to clear up long-standing, stubborn accounts. I've never read anything with a more global approach to prosperity thinking. An incredible life-work by Reverend Ponder, and HIGHLY-RECOMMENDED!!!

Fantastic, life-altering book by the ever-inspiring Catherine Ponder, who in her wonderful Southern way, articulates and shares principles and affirmations for living an abundant life, including the most important step of opening our minds to prosperity in all its forms. I also highly recommend the Audible version of this book, in Mrs. Ponder's voice, from a series of "tapes" recorded in the 1970s of her original seminars. Don't settle for the other Audible version, which unfortunately is devoid of the depth and richness that only Catherine Ponder can convey. This Audible version is a constant source of inspiration during my many hours driving here and there. Never fails to inspire and renew.

Written in 1962, this author was way ahead of her time. She discusses truths that people were oblivious to back then and are only now starting to discover and recognize as reality. Whenever I need some inspiration I pull out this book and read a chapter or two...or the whole thing. I always feel empowered and excited afterward. This book doesn't only discuss, money as the title may suggest. It covers all aspects of prosperity.

Catherine Ponder is one of my favourite authors. She was born in 1927 and her first books were published in the 1960s. As far as I am aware, she is still alive.

She tells us that we should desire prosperity it is not unspiritual to be prosperous. In fact, poverty is a sin, a form of disease.

Prosperity is our divine heritage and “success is divinely ordained.

Catherine informs us that the Bible is “the greatest textbook on prosperity ever written.

One woman, whenever she had a financial need, had great success when thinking on these words: “Be still and know that I am God at work in this situation now.

Another useful prayer is “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

We must consistently think of God as the Source of our supply. One saleswoman whose sales had fallen off began to affirm over and over from the Lord’s Prayer “Give me this day my daily bread, whereafter her sales increased tremendously and neighbours brought her dishes of food as a token of their esteem, and friends invited her to dinner.

Catherine tells us of her own extreme financial difficulties when widowed and with an infant son, and how she learnt that her potential wealth, health and happiness were actually within herself. She was led to become a minister in order to help others to “realize and apply the spiritual and mental keys to healthy --- prosperous living.

We learn about the vacuum law of prosperity: if you want great good, greater prosperity in your life, start forming a vacuum to receive it, In other words, get rid of what you don’t want to make room for what you do want.

She recounts the story of a man who was very ill and who, remembering the vacuum law, realized he needed to release a strong grudge against a certain person. He began to declare over and over: “I fully and freely forgive you, I loose and let you go. A feeling of peace came over him, he slept peacefully and the next morning his fever was gone; he was on the road to recovery.

She provides us with a forgiveness technique by which to form a vacuum, Sit for half an hour every day and mentally forgive everyone that you are out of harmony with or feel badly about.

Instead of making a lot of New Year resolutions, write a letter to God listing all your desires for the New Year. But you must be honest and express your really deep feelings, otherwise it will not work.

Catherine writes about “the imaging law of prosperity. By “imaging she means what we
today mostly call “visualizing.

We are informed of how Napoleon used the imaging law by keeping a huge map before him with coloured flags indicating the various moves he planned for his armies to take, months in advance. He even used the prosperity techniques of writing down his desires and plans. But he met his Waterloo because “he in a great measure used destructively the very techniques that are so powerful for good when used in a positive manner.

There’s a chapter dealing with the prosperity law of command, which is a positive assertion of the good we wish to experience.

Catherine quotes the Bible, as she often does. “Thou shalt decree a thing and it shall be established unto thee and light shall shine upon thy ways. (Job 22:28)

The power of words is immense. We must cease using negative phrases such as “I’d give my right arm if I could --- and “I’m going to turn a deaf ear to that.

Affirmations are a form of command. We are provided with many powerful ones, for example, “Everything and everybody prospers me now and I prosper everything and everybody now. And, “Divine order is now established and maintained. Harmony reigns supreme.

She gives us a chapter dealing with the prosperity law of persistence. We mustn’t surrender to defeat and must refuse “No as an answer.

“It is my divine destiny to succeed, and it is God’s business to help me. I expect and claim His divine help now.

We are told that for every problem there is a way out.

“There is a divine solution to this situation. “The divine solution now quickly and easily appears. I am now guided, healed, prospered and blessed.

The book is filled with numerous suggestions about how to prosper. Chapters include “The prosperity law of prayer, “The prosperity law of self-confidence, “Your genius powers for prosperity, “What about indebtedness? and “Health and prosperous thinking.

Catherine had her heyday in the middle of the 20th Century and the book is written in her characteristic style, which may seem old-fashioned. It is filled with inspirational stories from her own life and those of her clients and also with innumerable biblical quotes, which may be off-putting to some. I greatly appreciate them though I am not myself religious.

Catherine’s books are never out-of-date in the sense that they will always motivate and inspire, and I recommend that you read this book too if you desire to attract prosperity and abundance.

This book isn't for those who want to just "get rich quick".
It is for daring, creative, and bold individuals who dream big and want to experience the highest and best in all areas of their lives.
And it's not a book you can just read. It will challenge and enlighten you, as well as showing you how to get out of depression, creative blockage, and financial problems.
Read it with an open mind, a ready and willing heart - and keep a pencil handy as there are things you'll likely want to note :)

Dare to prosper! :)

DROPPED!!

Going through 27% of this book took all the willpower I had. Every single minute of it was excruciating, masochistic self imposed pain that I'll never forget.

I'm of two minds when it comes to this book...

From a content perspective, I LOVED IT. I bought it after a career-related meltdown a couple months ago, and the ideas conveyed in its pages brought not only clarity on attitude changes I should make, but also validation of certain things I'd already been doing right. I also like how Dynamic Laws includes prayers and affirmations that help you focus on specific angles of prosperity.

From an editorial perspective... I'm not sure if it's the edition I purchased, but there were a LOT of typos (spelling, grammatical, etc.). I was able to move past them for the most part, but several times I caught myself wondering, "Why didn't an editor catch these mistakes?"

As a whole, though, Dynamic Laws was the right book at the right time for me. It offered new "tools" to add to my meditation and spirituality practices, and I have a better grasp on how to work with the Law of Attraction. It's not one of the most well-written self-help books I've read, but I'm deeply grateful for its messages and won't forget its concepts anytime soon. Plus, I know I'll revisit it whenever I need to re-read its affirmations.

Catherine Ponder is known for the Dynamic Laws series.... of healing, love, prayer etc., apart from Prosperity. I could be wrong, but believe that this is the first book in the series. The Secret by Rhonda Byrne has overtly taken many ideas from this book.

It is a book of encouragement and direction, providing motivation and challenging the readers to think positive even in times of distraught. The idea is not new, the recipe is not new, but the book will likely hold its guts through the ages as humans are forever caught in a grasp of self inflicted despair and suffering.

Many are likely to love this book for its message that the reins of our destiny are in our own hands - if only we do not let the horses of luck drive our chariots of life any way it wants. Ironically, many will find this book ridiculous and delusional for the same reason.

An inspirational book yet one that is not such a new concept. First published in 1962 I could see this book being totally revolutionary and one that people who are seeking prosperity would follow. I listened to the audio version and although at times the recording was a bit scratchy and even inaudible, I got the gist of what Ms. Ponder was trying to say. It is a very positive book and that is what I really got from this book, the power of positive thinking. In today's world, it is not such a new concept, but I suppose without Ms. Ponder bringing this way of thinking to the forefront so long ago, we may not have such a mindset. A good book for those that need uplifting but nothing really new.

I have read many books by Ms. Ponder and I think she knew what she was talking about long before the new ones that came out after. My copy has post it notes on so many pages, I laugh and think to myself. There are so many gold nuggets in the book, I need to get more post-its :-) I can always go to any page and find what I am looking for. she is that good. Hones and down to earth about prosperity and just trusting in yourself to go after what your heart says to... Many of us do not do that...because...they have already made up their mind that it is not possible. I re-read her books all the time. Always a new quote or story jumps out that I may have missed. Great read.

Good affirmations. I use some already and more after this. Positive thinking, law of attraction. I like the goal setting, write out your intention aspect. Felt a little like a late night infomercial sometimes. Seems simplistic about poverty (real poverty) since it doesn't get into the social, cultural, world order realities that exist.

She is popular and I see why. Her writings are seductively direct. It draws from various spiritual traditions, but heavy on the Bible.

Very helpful advice if it's part of broader self discovery.

I have read several books on prosperity, and this was not my first introduction to this type of thinking. I have used the law of attraction to bring things into my life before, so I'm a firm believer the universe provides. Although there were tidbits that I liked, overall I found the inserted biblical references and the multitude of examples distracting. Again, maybe it's because this wasn't my first rodeo. I didn't feel like I needed to have examples hammered into my head.

The book is very good for most anyone interested in the subject of prosperity. The author sites many examples in the Bible that helps convince the reader that prosperity is something that our maker wants us to obtain. The book is a little longer than I believe it needs to be. "The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity" by Edwene Gaines is more concise and to me is presented better. Gaines does give Ponder credit for being a major influence.

One of my most used books in my personal library. When I first started to read this book 3 years ago I was barely in it and already things were changing for the good in my life. Now I keep it by my nightstand and whenever I need a boost or clarity I just close my eyes, ask for the right thing to read and randomly open the book to the perfect page. This is one of my favorite books.

Written in 1962, this is a real groundbreaking piece of work and well before the likes of Rhonda Byrne and co came on the scene.
The writing style of the God-fearing woman of 1960s Deep South America does take some getting used to and sentences have to be re-read at times. However, the magic of this book is the insights provided and you have to remind useful that the idea of visualisation (or imaging as it is known here) must have been hugely groundbreaking for the time.
Main points for me:
1. Affirmations used to bring about prosperity, good health, etc.
2. Picture a bright future for yourself and visualise your goals.
3. Think kindly of others and forgive. Forgiveness is powerful.
4. Create a vacuum in your life for all the good things about to come your way.
5. You are magnetic if you have a prosperous state of mind.
6. Love has unequaled power.
7. Prayer is powerful.
8. You must have self-confidence to succeed.
9. Develop your intuition.
10. There is even a chapter on "Special Powers." This includes the likes of psychokinesis, clairvoyance, telepathy and ESP. Incredible really given the biblical references and divine faith in God.

I am not sure how other readers feel about the constant references to the Bible and faith in God but i guess that is the times we live in now and then.

"Your persistence is your mental plow which helps you to break up those old failure attitudes of mind, which have previously kept success from you" (p. 414). The expression of "mental plow" is really powerful. We human beings also need to continually renew ourselves mentally. We need maintenance. We need to feel reenergized each day we wake up and face life. Life is supposed to be a challenge for all of us. The key difference between those who succeed and those who do not is in whether they have PERSISTENCE. This book is a classic. Own it. Place it on top of your desk. Display it on your bookshelf. Share it with friends and family. Better yet, buy them a copy. Discard unhealthy notions about prosperity once and for all. This review can be really lengthy because of all the uplifting sentences and passages it contains. But this review is kept short on purpose. Pick up this book and discover for yourself.

I reread this book every day. Along with my daily prayers, this book keeps me grounded and keeps me conscious of what I say and how I speak. It has blessed my life in a tremendous way. They say you are what you think. Think you’re destined to fail and you will. Say you are blessed and you are. However, you must believe you’re in charge of your own success and you’ll achieve to the highest heights. I have used positive affirmations to create positive changes in everything in my life from finances and career to my relationship with my husband and my family. I live a positive life everyday and I speak positive outcomes to enhance my living. I recommend to everyone and I am so blessed to have found this book.

Good but a bit repetitive at times. Basically your thoughts affect your life. She goes through like EVERY area of your life to go over this same principle. Could have been a lot shorter. Also the mantras were overwhelming. To make mantras work you should really just pick one. Overall good for your spirits and to change your energy. Wasn't bothered by the scripture quotes. Books by Joel osteen are worse.

This book helped me forgive all the people I had a grudge with so it is THAT good. The reason I give it 3 stars is because of the claim that Ponder states in it, that reading this book will bring money into your life instantly. She states that her seminars brought instant money manifestations to the students.

Aham, sure.

I'll give it 5 stars after it will help me change my current finances even for a little bit.

So grateFULL that I was introduced to this piece of literature. I haven’t read it in totality but you don’t have to. What I love the most about the book is that I can check back and flip to any page to gain knowledge and wisdom.

It’s become a small staple on my shelf, as I encourage company to read an excerpt or two.
