Gettysburg Redux

Rate this book
Veteran Confederate Sergeant Ben Gallows has lived through the blood and terror of the first two years of the American Civil War, but nothing in that period could have prepared him for the madness and chaos of Gettysburg. Under attack by both the Yankees and enemies from within his own regiment will expose him to his greatest challenges. Rebel General James Longstreet has spiralled down into madness and drunkenness and must now lead his Tattered Wolves into the most pivotal battle of the war. Can he overcome his own demons and military opponents to defeat the overwhelming Yankee army? Gettysburg Redux presents an alternative version of the American Civil War. Could a single sniper’s bullet change the course of history? The series - REBEL EMPIRE, continues in book two - REBELS & DESPERADOS and in book three - FOR THE GOOD OF THE CONFEDERACY and concludes in - CONFEDERATE KNIGHTS Praise for REBEL EMPIRE -The Series “Excellent alternate history saga woven through with historical characters and plausible scenarios. Stuart can certainly write well as he weaves a common theme through this historical trilogy (with a marvellous fourth book loaded with short stories and scenarios he couldn't work into his main three books) following a half-century of service, intrigue, betrayals, obsessions, strategies, wins and losses. He primarily follows one family through it all; it is fascinating and unlike anything I've ever read. It certainly turns history upside down. Stuart develops characters exceedingly well and makes you love, hate, admire or fear them. It was what I call a really fun read (admittedly, it helps to have a basic knowledge or our history so that one can see the "divergences", understand and delight it them). Larry Thompson

Really great what if book

I found this superb book very hard to put down, the characters are very interesting Ben and Callahan in particular. The historical turns and twists I found to be written in a believable manner. Overall a very good yarn with an interesting subplot.
I look forward to reading more books by this author.
