The Sure Mastery trilogy charts the sensual and emotional journey of petty thief turned photographer Ashley McAllister as she struggles to overcome personal tragedy, loss and grief to rebuild her life in the wild beauty of the West Yorkshire moorland.
Resilient and determined, independent and courageous, Ashley has no qualms about cutting her old ties and starting again. Intent on establishing her landscape photography business, she is horrified when her turbulent past comes crashing back to haunt her, threatening to overwhelm and destroy her fragile new beginning.
Ashley needs Tom to guard her secrets and allow her to stay. He just wants her. He wants her submission, her surrender, but he’s already destroyed her trust in him. Will his seductive charm and sure mastery be enough to rebuild her fragile faith? Can he teach her the difference between the violent abuse she’s experienced in the past and his much more exquisite approach to pain? And where does pain end and pleasure begin?
Tom guides her into his world of pleasure, desire, trust and reward. His gifts to her are beyond price, the rewards of submission. But will it be enough, and can the shadows of her dangerous and violent past be left behind them?
Surefire by Ashe Barker
This is book three in the Sure Mastery serial
Now her submission is complete, will her Master still be there when she needs him most, or will the ghosts of her past destroy their fragile future?
Ashley and Tom’s sensual journey continues as an old friend returns to Black Combe. As her business flourishes and her relationship with Tom deepens, Ashley is happy—truly happy—and looking forward to the future. Then, without warning, her world is shattered once more as her past comes crashing back, violence and malevolence crushing her new-found happiness and threatening all she now holds dear.
Shocked and horrified as she learns the terrifying truth, Ashley has to battle for her own survival and that of the tiny life just starting inside her. Can her Master protect her? Is there a future for them after all?
Sure mastery can only be met with absolute submission. As Ashley surrenders to the inevitable, relies on her Master to keep her safe, will it be enough?
Until 2010, Ashe was a director of a regeneration company before deciding there had to be more to life and leaving to pursue a lifetime goal of self-employment.
Ashe has been an avid reader of erotic romance for many years—historical, contemporary, fantasy—you name it. Now, at last in control of her own time and working from her home in rural West Yorkshire, she has been able to realise her dream of writing sexy and compelling stories herself.
She draws on settings and anecdotes from her previous and current experience to lend colour, detail and realism to her plots and characters, but her stories of love, challenge, resilience and compassion are the conjurings of her own imagination. She loves to craft strong, enigmatic men and bright, sassy women to give them a hard time—in every sense of the word.
When she’s not writing, Ashe’s time is monopolised by her role as grandma to a lively toddler. She shares her writing space with a tortoise called Teefer.
This was a surprising book filled with lots of scenes that some may find taboo. It was interesting since the characters were exploring sides of themselves that they never entertained before. In the end what they both wanted was not able to be obtained before because they weren't honest. This new adventure has sparked a new set of rules which caused their relationship to take a new turn and lead them to discover what their real needs were. Sometimes in the end trusting yourself to lean on someone else is the scariest step to take. I hope the author continues to write more stories I. This quaint English village I really am quite find of them all.

My Thoughts
So....to be honest, i was getting a bit bored with where this story was going from the last installment and was really just pushing through this last one since i hate to leave things unfinished. There was a surprise though - when we thought that the story was just on Ashley coming to terms with who she is, we also find that there's a bit of a survivor story there and one of someone who needs to push herself to heal. Which is what Tom as a good dom should do and does.
Throughout this story, we're really just put through the paces with them, they are in an ok place in their relationship, Tom continues to push Ashley's limits in the bedroom (and dungeon) and well, it's something that's finally getting to be more manageable. Meaning that while she fights him on things, she's open minded and lets him have at it.
We meet a few interesting folks that pop up in this installment. a past lover from Nathan's past that really changed his life and made him miserable when she left. She had a secret though and that secret comes to a head which is a good thing for EVERYONE.
Then there's the identification of Ashley's dad and all of the questions that come along with that. Does he know about her, does he even WANT to know about her and what will that mean. It adds a nice layer of realism and depth that was a bit lacking.
And then there's the expected bits of close calls with death, psychos coming looking for someone (or someones) and a wonder of what that will mean for people with questionable pasts.
All in all, i'm glad that i made it through the series since along with all that we get some AMAZING scening, some great D/s interactions with gadgets, equipment, toys, jewelry and all the heat and passion that's oh so necessary to make a BDSM erotica complete. Tom is the kind of guy that you WANT to have around - masculine, rugged yet very refined when needed and that's just HOT in my book. so enjoy!
Sure Mastery series has finally concluded with this last book, Surefire. Happy-Happy, joy-joy! If you’ve read my previous review, you’d know why. But here’s a hint, old friend returns to Black Combe. That’s it, no more clues. Laughter, excitement even sadness…my emotions ran the gambit. The sexual adventures for Ashley and Tom definitely are hotter in and out of the bedroom this time around. There are nail biting moments when Ashley’s past catches up with her (Oh no, Barney!). Nevertheless, in the end, everything works out well. If I had to point out my favorite part of the book, it would be the epilogue. Bittersweet with the HEA except for one teeny issue that I either am blocking or the author left out. What is the sex?! Zipping lips now. Needless to say, I loved this book. It was the perfect ending to another great series. Does that mean, all loose ends get taken care of? Pretty much but it’s the way they are all done that had me over the moon.
I have to admit, anything Ashe writes I have to get my hands on it. Her books have turned into quite the addiction for me. Luckily, I have yet to be disappointed. Heavy sighs and all smiles right now. Surefire is the perfect ending to the Sure Mastery series. Now all I have to do is sit and wait for Ashe to write another book *twiddling thumbs*
I received this book from JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated.
The final instalment did not disappoint. A lot happens in this book to keep you interested. Ashley and Tom as in previous books step up and deal with the problems while doing their best to maintain some form of normalcy. What a wonderful series!
Really enjoyed this story of Ashley and Tom. I like how the characters are not perfect and go through the bumps in life and still manage to find themselves and love.
(I did not read a few of the series in the correct reading order suggested by the Ms. Barker and was still able to enjoy each w/out too many spoilers. I like that each series has their own story line but still maintain a connection.)
Another wonderful trilogy .Ashley and Tom's story is yet another wonderful love story with the usual naughty edge I love .It's a hard act to mix dark and love successfully but this trilogy manages it.
