Hero #2

Two In Two Out

Rate this book
Blake Hughes was comfortable being in the closet, especially at work surrounded by macho firemen. A paramedic, still single at thirty, Blake kept his private life, just that, private.

Hunter Rasmussen had transferred to LAFD from San Diego. Twenty-six, powerful and fit, the handsome blue-eyed brunette just wanted to leave the past behind. No one had to know what he went through down south. And he didn't need history to repeat itself. Being ‘out was not a good career move for all jobs, and particularly not with the fire service.

When Hunter and Blake were assigned to the same shift pattern, they quickly became best friends. Partnered up on calls, hanging out together on days off, Hunter enjoyed Blake’s company and Blake his. Until something, or someone from Hunter’s ugly past begins to cause him problems.

In the fire department, men rely on each other for their lives. Two go into a burning building, and two stay out to serve as their rescue team in case of emergency. Blake and Hunter were two men deeply in the closet. And only with devotion and love would their secret lives come ‘out. And Hunter and Blake find that courage in a very unusual place. Two devoted LAPD cops help show them the way.

Two in…two out…it helps when someone is there to throw you a lifeline.

PLAYFUL BUT WITH A PUNCH.

Damn. I also loved this one. I hope I can give this a review it deserves.

I think I'll start with the bad. The only bad I can think about this now is how the story can happen for real. Lifeguards, Firemen, Policemen screw each other? Can it really happen? Well I don't really care that much. It's nickpicking on my part. And it's a really hot fantasy btw. XD

Blake & Hunter

The beginning was one of the most entertaining ones I've read so far. Actually when I start reading this, it screamed Hot Head. Two firemen who are bestfriends, secretly in love with each other. But as I go on, it was different actually. Blake is a deeply closeted gay guy while Hunter kept his sexuality at work. Also, this guys openly flirt with each other! It's so entertaining how playful this two are! The first chapters are really fun.
When he was at his own room, he peeked behind him, smiled wickedly, and dropped the towel right before he vanished. Hearing Blake's gasp and seeing his eyes widen in shock was worth its weight in gold. Christ how he adored that man. And teasing him was just so much fun. Luckily Blake was a good sport and appearted to enjoy the game as much as he did. Man, if you were gay my life would be so fucking awesome!

The image of Hunter's tight ass cheeks made Blake an inferno. Shaking himself out of his stupor, he finally managed to shout, "Flirt!" Hearing Hunter's laughter on the other side of the door. Blake wished Hunter was gay. No way. He ain't. Or is he?

Eventually they got together, (I hope this doesn't spoil you guys because it eventually happens right?) then the read got a little serious. I hate how deeply closeted Blake is and sometimes his notions doesn't make sense for me.

And then there were sensitive topics tackled here, homophobia, harassment, and discrimination in their line of work. I really liked this series' take on it. It was sensible.

And lastly, the way Blake & Hunter came out? Oh my God, it was spectacular! One of those I wouldn't forget in awhile! It was very gratifying.

A RECOMMENDED M/M Rom Read! This is a very good one. I hope you check this out and I hope you enjoy it!

PS: I've read other reviews after I made this one. It seems like I'm the only one who loved it this much. XD Please check out the other reviews too before you ever buy this. :)

What's with all the references to "being the woman in this relationship"?!!? Am I reading an M/M book or am I reading dismissals and insults to all Male-Male relationships everywhere?!!? NO ONE is the woman in the relationship, which is a great thing, because YOU KNOW, that's the fucking point ... THEY'RE GAY!!!!!

I don't find the constant "yeah, I'll be your wife" or "you'd make an excellent wife" or "you make me feel like the 'little woman'" or "you want to be my woman? I thought I already was" comments funny at all. I find them to be the undoing of the whole point of an M/M book ... I find it significantly disrespectful. There is NO basis for comparison to women when it comes to a relationship between gay men ... women have no place in the romantic relationship in terms of theoretical comparison!! AT ALL! None whatsoever! I think the author missed that memo >:-/!!!!!

By the by, aside from all the 'mooning over' and 'lusting after' these guys were doing, not much happened here. There are many other things wrong with or that simply didn't gel for me in this book, but what I've already mentioned should be enough ... it's reason enough for me anyway.
As a side note, and to add insult to injury, I think, ironically enough, that Blake is a pussy! I did NOT like how he shut Hunter down on the topic of eventually coming out. No matter how things progressed or how the book ended, Blake sealed the deal for me right there and there was no redemption for him in my mind. UGH. SMH.

What's with all the failed book experiences in the past few days? The next book is going to be EPIC ... I just know it ... because Book Karma ;-)!!

TWO STARS FOR THE OVERLOAD OF SACCHARINE CANE SUGAR MOLASSES.
4 STARS FOR A COMFORT READ.

I swear my teeth rotted as I read this book and I'm sure my glucose level is enough to freak out my endocrinologist.

Hunter and Blake have been partners in their fire station for awhile, ever since Hunter ran away from San Diego to get away from the homophobic attention of a colleague. Each man has been panting silently for the other from the moment they laid eyes on each other. Both are in the closet here in LAFP - which is getting hotter and hotter by the minute. The reader gets to know every single adoring gaze (when no one's ,looking), every adoring glance (when there're other around), every adoring thought. You'll know exactly how frickin' much these guys A.D.O.R.E. each other even while they aren't out to each other.

Aside from that, it's a feel-good story of two men who are best buddies and somewhere along, one of them makes a move, a teeny-weeny move that's picked up by the other and tentatively moved forward. These moments are, of course, the ones we live for and I did enjoy that - as I do in almost every MM romance I read.

Of course, reality checks in fast and it got a little tiresome to read. It's times like these I'm tempted to say 'been-there-done-that-read-another-book' but I stuck to it and after a bit of over-the-top-drama towards the end, our boys get their sweet, sweet HEA.

it's not a 4-star read, it wasn't as bad as 2 either.

Two and a half stars!

PS: I had the 3rd installment, thinking I could read it after TI,TO but no. It will be awhile before I pick up another Hauser.

I really liked this book, the two main characters are very likeable, and fairly well developed. At the beginning of the book they both mainly flirt and pretend they're not interested when they really are. When neither Blake or Hunter can take it anymore they finally admit to each other they're gay. Being firemen, they both question whether its a good idea to come out as gay. Hunter is worried from his past experience with another fire department. When he came out he was ridiculed and harassed. He decided to do it differently this time, and everything was great until someone he worked with shows up at his current station. Tom, his biggest tormentor. Hunter is so in the closet that hes terrified of anyone even thinking he could be gay. I liked how when they finally do come out its effortless and without forethought. It really was perfect.

I really enjoyed this one. Not more than the first but still good. I loved the foundation if their relationship. They were best friends who also flirted so much! I did love that. Hunter was my favorite. I was really frustrated with Blake at times. But in the end I think he reframed himself. Such a firmest love story between two firemen.

This was my first GA Hauser book and I really liked it.

Blake and Hunter work together as firemen and have quickly become best friends. They've each fallen in love with each other but since they are both in the closet at work, they don't even know if the other is gay.

Slow build then super fast insta-love followed by lot's of drama.

I read it - all of it and I still want to hit myself for doing it! There were some fairly offensive comments made in this book and well it was overly sappy and well.... How can something with firefighters not be good? I am still a bit speechless.

This book had me so fired up when I read it. This book was absolutely ridiculous. Firstly, they spent the first half trying figure out if the other was gay even though they spent most of the flirting with each other. But they look at each other full lust and desire but making it into a joke. I mean these MCs lost all common sense when they are trying figure if the other like each other but on the job they seem competent. I mean the man looks at your balls and commenting on them and says I adore you. You still don't have clue till you hold his hands. But I must say it was nice build up and when they finally FINALLy went for it I was like YES! YES!

Secondly, Every hot guy they met up with is GAY. The lifeguards was a given because they were in the first book. But it seems every male characters the author made point of mentioning that were hot was gay. At least eight characters in book came out or stereotypical gay man. I had to ask myself why Blake spent so much time in the closet or oblivious about people he work with.

Furthermore, when they finally hook up after three months of working/knowing each other together I might add it only been one day they are saying "I Love You" and talking about moving in together. It frustrated me when character act overly dramatic when they don't get auto responds. Since when is it a problem to think before you speak and why are these characters are so damn pessimistic.

I would have given this book four stars because it was a easy read and it was so ridiculously bad that it was good. I could deal with the fact that they made the only female character annoyingly persistent/intrusive and made point to say she was unattractive. I could ignore that that the author decided that the MCs needed to have conversation about who's the woman in this relationship. Also fact that almost every gay man in this book was very dick hungry. What really killed it for me is how they dealt with Tom (the homophobe) in the book. I can look over the fact that the guy was from old house and some how end up transferring with you to new house and you suspecting he might be a closet case. But what they did to try to prove that fact and the consequences of that bad prank was big NO-NO. I refuse to get on board of how at the end they made Tom character worst to justify the shitty thing they did to him.

Overall, it was a easy read if it was a bit dramatic. If you like WTF the plot go then this is a good book to read. But if you can't handle reading a book where grown men act like teenagers in pretty adult situation then read at your own peril.

After the story about the two lifeguards, G.A. Hauser continues in her dream men imaginary with two “hot firemen, pun intended.

Blake and Hunter are fellow firemen and friends. It’s a joyous bartering between them, an innocent teasing. At least this is what both men believe: Blake and Hunter are so much in the closet that they don’t have the courage to come out neither to each other.

Hunter was burnt in the past, when he was with the San Diego FD he decided to be open with his sexuality and he was ostracized for that so much that, in the end, he decided to move out and be transferred in Los Angeles. He fantasized that Los Angeles was better, more gay friendly, but it’s not, and so Hunter is again in the closet. Worst, he has the hot for his fellow fireman Blake, that is also a very nice man, accepting Hunter’s teasing always with a smile but never letting go if he reciprocates.

Blake has long known that he is gay, but he fears the judgment of friends and family. From a very religious family, he has a bit the complex of “sin: even if he is all right with his sexuality, I feel that he has some guilty feelings. Blake is basically a very nice man, good cook and family man, but due to his stubbornly intent on staying firmly in the closet, he is denying himself the joy of an open relationship.

It’s not helping them that around them seem to popping out gay men everywhere: Tanner and Josh, the two lifeguards who are protagonist of the previous book in the series, and Mickey and Jeff, who will be in the next one. Plus some other men that will be probably in other books in the series, if the author will continue it. G.A. Hauser is continuing with a spin off of her famous Los Angeles soap-opera whose main characters were Mark and Steve, also them, male model and former cop, two epitome of Gay Romance fantasies.

Blake and Hunter are a bit less faulty than her previous characters, they preserve the effrontery that is a trademark of G.A. Hauser, and like before, they are also high emotional and not scared to show their feelings, even with tears if necessary, but this time they are more aware that they are not living in a soap-opera, that it’s not easy to be an out man in a macho man field, that not only it’s not easy, but even dangerous. There is a bit a real life that intrudes in the romance, but after all, again, the romance is stronger.

A book of two halves. The first, ooh, lovely build-up, lots of flirting (totally useless blood gaydar, the pair of them). Then they come together, and after months of being best friends and work partners, the physical side is the icing on the cake. Trouble is, Hunter, although wary of coming out again at work, is tired of living in the closet, and Blake is fearful of anyone (even his family) knowing he's gay, even though he's desperate to settle down. Big, hot, muscley fire fighters. Lovely to meet Josh and Tanner again from .

Hunter and Blake are partners stationed at the same firehouse. They flirt with each other for several months not knowing if the other is gay.
At about 40% in events take place and they get together.
Although in the closet at work, outside Hunter is out compared to Blake who is still in the closet.
I enjoyed this book. I didn't realize that fire trucks went out with only 2 men. It seemed that this station was made up of two men teams.
I am looking forward to book 3 to read the cops story.

Not as good a story as I usually get from this author. Almost half of the book is just Blake and Hunter trying to figure out if the other is gay. The rest of the book is 40 % sex and 10% plot. I like the characters but this story really left me wanting.

A fireman and a paramedic. What are the possibilities that such a pair will fall in love? They try not to but after a long struggle to turn away from one another, the dam breaks and the passion burns up the pages of this novel. Manly and romantic all at the same time.

This book was a disappointment for me. I was really hoping I could like it, I couldn't even finish it. Half way through and I just couldn't...I just couldn't even read it anymore. The fun banter in the beginning seemed to disappear as soon as their lips touched. The dialogue was more than forced, most the time it sounded like a mixture from a horrible 80s style porn and a newbie fanfiction writer. More often then not, I found myself rolling my eyes and picking apart the writing while not even getting the chance to enjoy any of it. The characters annoyed me for several reasons. And don't even get me started on the firefighter/EMT/Emergency service aspect of it (since I have my Firefighter I and EMT). I am not usually one to leave a bad review. Normally when I don't like a book, I rate it 1 star and move on, but I guess I was holding this book to too high a standard, even when it seemed that everyone else seemed to love it. Damn.

Blake and Hunter haven’t known each other long but since they both started working together at a firehouse as partners they have become best friends. Their friendship involves a lot of flirting and touching, so much so that everyone should have guessed they were gay and had the hots for each other, but surprisingly nobody does. Even Blake and Hunter don’t know that the other is gay.

There is a lot of day to day sameness until they end up in bed with each other and declare immediate love. Blake goes from closeted to wanting to come out to everybody and move in together in a matter of hours. Hunter is far more reticent, having run from homophobia in San Diego, and he feels he will never be ready to tell his parents.

There is more flirting and a little angst but nothing is as bad as it seems and they eventually get their HEA.

This is another hot one from G.A. Heroes series. Hunter and Blake are both firemen at the LAFD. (I lurve firemen. Favorite quote about firemen from Josh in Man to Man: 'Find 'em hot and leave 'em wet'. *drools*) Both are hiding that they are gay from each other and from their fellow firefighters. But they flirt with each other in a joking manner. They fantasize about each other non-stop and I just wanted them to get it on already. lol Then after pulling one grueling 24 hour shift on the fourth of July, they both wake up in Blake's bed. This starts off their secret affair with each other and FINALLY teh hot smex. There is also some angst and some drama tossed in for good measure. Josh and Tanner, characters from the previous book, make several appearances. All in all a good smexy story.

This was just...awful. This was chicks with dicks, all the way, with horribly cheesy porn-film dialogue. I think at some point one of the guys is wearing a pair of white, skin-tight shorts that lace up the sides, and thinks that no one will realize he's gay. Really? 'cause I can think of no straight man -- unless he was a stripper -- who would wear these in public.
This book made me swear off reading anything by this author ever again -- it was that bad. Want hot firemen? Read HotHead by Damon Suede. Sooo much better.

I really enjoyed book 1, Man To Man, but I couldn't finish this one. I didn't connect with the characters at all. The dialogue between the two was annoying. I skipped through portionsnof the book because it dragged or was just boring. The sex and sex talk was not any better. I had to let it go.

I will try out the 3rd book because there is, rumored, Josh and Tanner sightings from book 1.

You can't go wrong with a book about firemen hot for each other and G.A. Hauser sure knows how to deliver on that! This is the 2nd book in her Heroes series and while it's good to read them in order, you don't miss anything by starting in the middle. Lots of great, raw emotion in this book! Wish they didn't take as long as they did to get together but enjoyed seeing their relationship blossom from best friends to lovers.

I enjoyed this book even more than the first book and I really liked the way the two books overlapped their storylines. After reading Man to Man and meeting Hunter and Blake while reading about Josh and Tanner, it was fun to read the flip side of those encounters from Josh and Tanner's POVs.

I liked both the MCs and appreciated that G.A. Hauser did not stick to the same formula as book one in not making this one a GFY book.

Holy crap, but Hauser is just too good and making me squirm using all that sexual tension. Wow. I loved the characters, and I loved the pace of this thing. It's funny that they know they're gay but they don't know that the other is. Heh. Well, when they finally come together, it's hot as hell, and very touching too. I'm glad everything turns out so perfectly. Another great great right there. So glad I got it.

Out-for-you story with two sexy firemen! Many twists and turns with the emotions in this one and a great read.

There is an inconsistancy with the dates between this book and the first of the series. The first book takes place prior to 6/21. There are a couple of over-lapping scenes from the same week and all of a sudden in the second book it is 7/4.

Much more enjoyable than the first book in this series. The characters felt more believable and while there were still times when the dialogue was pretty bad, for the most part it was okay. My main gripe would be with the ending. Too conveniently tied up.
