The manga series, Delicious in Dungeon (also known as Dungeon Meshi), is an adventurous tale that follows a group of explorers as they venture into a dungeon. Along the way, they encounter various monsters, which they cook and consume. The series is a unique blend of fantasy, comedy, and cooking genres, making it an entertaining read for fans of all ages and interests.

The adventurers are faced with a new challenge as they try to find a way to escape from the dungeon. The story takes a more serious tone as the group faces a difficult decision that could change the course of their journey after discovering the true power of the demon behind the lord of the dungeon.

Overall, Delicious in Dungeon is a unique and entertaining manga series that combines dungeon-crawling adventure with cooking. The characters are well-developed, and the world-building is excellent. The art style is also fantastic, and the monsters look both terrifying and delicious. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys fantasy, comedy, and cooking.

I went out and *bought* vol 13 of this series because my library didn't have it yet, that's how hooked I am. And now I have to wait until JULY for the final volume! (But also, thank goodness I didn't get into this series any sooner or I'd have a much longer wait).

So, the cozy fantasy cooking manga really descended into absolute madness, huh? Some of these panels were actually INSANE. Well, I'm not complaining about it ...

The cover with Laois and the winged lion head to head is SO good ugh

Opening up with Marcille suicide-baiting was perfect. And then we segue into ¡°EXCUSE ME DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO STOP BEING THE LORD OF THE DUNGEON???¡±

And there¡¯s just so much gorgeous art of the demon in this one. His true (monster) form with all the eyes and keyholes¡. Awesome. And the demon¡¯s backstory was perfect - there was enough humanity there to empathize with but also it made sense as far as Evil Motivations go.

Laois asking Izutsumi to kill him if he goes off the deep end¡ it hurts so good. And her lowkey responding like a real kid, asking about his promise to have dinner with everyone. And then she fucking does it.

It¡¯s such a testament to Ryoko¡¯s character design that seeing Laois(¡®s body) smile and be charming and smug is SO sinister¡ he looks like a normal guy, but that¡¯s not the Laois that we know and love!!!

Shoutout to the demon for making time to fuck with Mithrun one last time. Man¡¯s having the absolute worst day of his life and the demon still wants the last word. Also god, it¡¯s insane how tiny Mithrun looks compared to Laois lmao.

Everyone putting together that the monster is Laois¡¯s monster-sona is so funny. Even at the end of the world, you should make time to roast your bro for being a loser.

(But then he rips his way out of the snake and AHHHHHHH)

Marcille and Kabru having mental breaks at the exact same time and Marcille snapping out of hers because Mithrun starts beating the shit out of Kabru was SO funny.

Oh god but the fight with the army of demon!Laois versus monster!Laois is fucking BRUTAL. So hard to read. And then it fucking segues into the demon doing the ¡°spit it out!¡± thing that everyone does with their dog!!! What the shit!!! AND HE TOLD EVERYONE EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS GOING TO DO!!! But it reads like a regular inspirational bullshit metaphor plan and makes you forget that Laois is autistic as hell and would NEVER be able to come up with a metaphor that detailed on the spot!!!

lmao and then he roasts the demon for being a loser.

And the demon cursing him¡ agh. He thinks his greatest wish is reviving Falin but I think that it¡¯s being a monster. We¡¯ll see I guess! Oh, also I guess he technically also needs to come back to life, huh?

The climactic battle of the series is upon us, and the only certain thing is that people and monsters will be eaten.

Along the way, we get an origin for the Winged Lion and reflect on the intertwined concepts of appetite and desire. And there is one final volume in the series to deal with the aftermath which I have on hand from the library to read tomorrow.

FOR REFERENCE:

Contents: Chapter 86. Winged Lion 1 -- Chapter 87. Winged Lion 2 -- Chapter 88. Winged Lion 3 -- Chapter 89. Winged Lion 4 -- Chapter 90. Winged Lion 5 -- Chapter 91. Winged Lion 6 -- Bonus: Miscellaneous Monster Tales 13: Demon

Behold the penultimate volume of this amazing series! I am happy that the characters are now finally at the end of their journey, but also sad that the series is ending.

This particular volume was a rollercoaster of emotions for me. There were so many things happening that startled and astounded me.

I was so immersed in the story that I didn't even realize how fast I was going through the pages, finishing the volume in mere minutes. And all the credit goes to the author and the wonderful characters she has created.

Vol. 8 ¡ï¡ï¡ï¡î¡î
Vol. 9 ¡ï¡ï¡ï¡î¡î
Vol. 10 ¡ï¡ï¡ï¡ï¡î
Vol. 11 ¡ï¡ï¡ï¡î¡î
Vol. 12 ¡ï¡ï¡ï¡î¡î

It's so satisfying seeing everyone team up for the final battle. Part of me wishes this volume goes to darker places as that's where the series tends to excel and be the most memorable. Still, everything that happens fits within the rules that Ryoko Kui has set for her universe so I don't have any complaints.

After waiting and waiting, I finally got my hands on this and the final volume after going to a town I almost never visit and getting a library card there. I'm so happy to be reading it again, but also bummed that I now only have one single volume left.

An ending. Sure it's over the top. And confusing. But there's one more volume to explain everything. We finally get a world backstory that tells us what's going on. And Laios has a plan within a plan within a plan. And at its core it is a plan that makes sense for Laios because it includes Monsters and Eating. Not a lot of action from the cast on this one. Though Marcille does a bit, and Izutsumi reminds us who she is.

This is probably the best fantasy Manga I've read in a long time, with Frieren being a close second. I can't wait for the next volume.

An absolutely breathtaking volume. The demon¡¯s backstory, and Laios defeating the demon by devouring it, were both captivating and haunting. I¡¯m sad that the series is almost over, but I loved this climax.

This was an interesting volume. I feel like we are getting towards the end of this series. A final battle with the Winged Lion appears to occur here. I¡¯m going to say appears because this series has a tendency to make you think one thing is the goal of the team and then something wild happens to change the finish line. Like when Falin became a giant monster when they attempted to resurrect her.

Anyway Eat or be Eaten might as well be the tag line. Lots of eating here, kind of creepy chompy blood eating with no yummy recipes from sensei. Laios finally becomes the dungeon lord and the dungeon is breached. The final question is who outsmarted whom? Laios or the Winged Lion??
