I rescued a girl from a basement thinking she was innocent, but I brought home a serial killer whose darkness borders on insanity.
Now, I need to tame her murderous instincts before I become her next victim.

Seraphine
Leroi is dark, deadly, and dangerously attractive.
I don’t know what he wants, but resisting him is impossible and I'm ready to slay him at the first sign of betrayal.
When a dark figure from the past rises from the shadows, wanting to reclaim me, I'm forced to trust a man who might stab me in the back.
Taming Seraphine is a dark romance containing themes that may be disturbing to some. Please check the warnings inside the book.
DNF at 42% and this review is going to be as messy as the book
I’M SO DISAPPOINTED😩 what is this?
I was so excited to start a dark book. When I read that this one had 2 pages of trigger warnings, I was like perfect! This is my next read little did I know seriously🤡🤡 I miss the 5 bucks that I spent on this eBook 😭😂
for the way this book was described it had so much potential but the way it was handled was awful😭 it was so cringe, rushed and messy. I was at 20% into it and so much already had happened. It was like the author wanted to give us a lot of plots and characters so fast that the book was losing coherence and starting to get boring. Also, it had immature and cliché dialogues, and reckless and childish behaviors.
the “attachment from the fmc to the mmc felt rushed, without logic or well explained context, or chemistry. It was like a Stockholm Syndrome situation, but he was her savior, not the captor/abuser. There was an age gap. But (from my perspective), in this case, it felt so wrong because she was an adult of 21 years, but she spent the last 5 years locked and abused in a basement. She was traumatized and she needed help. In some scenes, it felt like she was still a child in an adult body. He “recognizes these facts and says he would help her and won’t take advantage of her. Still, he does things with her. Very contradictory, hypocritical, and wrongggg idk. ANDDD all these things I just mentioned literally happened in way less than 42%, maybe at 20% already? so fast and rushed, like I said
there was a sandwich scene that I really want to forget about. I don’t usually have triggers when it comes to dark books but this was too much, and I wasn’t prepared for that 😭💀
I really wanted to like this book but the more I read, the more speechless I was, and not in a good way.
Anyways, the only star goes to the trigger warnings list that had 2 pages and it was alphabetized which is so cool! But yeah, that’s all🖤
This book, man. This goes down in history for me as perhaps one of the worst books I've ever read. Why, you then ask, does it get two stars? Because, dear reader, of the fucking AUDACITY of this book, and I'll start with the infamous trigger warnings.
I, like many, found this monstrosity via booktok and was, stupidly, intrigued by the insane two-page, alphabetised trigger warnings that I just had to see what it was about. Fortunately, I didn't pay human money for this as I got it on Kindle, but unfortunately, I did pay by currency of precious minutes of my life. I read this over the course of two days, which I will never get back. I felt that the trigger warnings served exactly their purpose which wasn't to actually warn those about triggering content, but to suck us in; it was literary clickbait. Yes, it had all the things, but were they good? Did they serve the plot of the book? Did they make us feel anything other than confusion as to the point of them? No, no, and absolutely not. I feel honestly that the trigger warning list was written before the actual book itself, and it was like shitty, gruesome bingo for Gigi Styx to get all of them in there, which she sadly did. A shame. Inappropriate use of power tools. Cool, I guess? It just tried so hard to be dark that it was laughable.
Next, these vapid characters. I'll start with our lovely FMC, who I genuinely just almost called Elaine because of her childishness. The difference, here, is that we don't actually have to witness sex scenes with that mentally naive and underdeveloped person in ACOTAR, whereas for Seraphine, it's all we really get that gives the book any pages. The thing that made me uncomfortable is that, if we start to look at this character as if we care, she is a child. She's developmentally stunted, vulnerable, traumatised, and in need of genuine help. She is a Vulnerable Adult. Why, then, are we sitting through the reciprocal sexual advances between an adult (Leroi, with his own trauma and awful name), and someone who actually cannot consent. She might as well be an inpatient as well as a captive. The thing about this dubious consent, is that it's so different from something like CNC because... it's dubious. And, even if she doesn't think it, she has the mind of a child. We're SHOWN that. It's so uncomfortable to read her colourings in, like those damned 70s serial killers. She's not BTK, she's this 'protagonist' we're supposed to like and find sexy. We can't do that here. The trigger warning for Child Sexual Assault, I later found out applied to all of the book, because she's honestly a minor. Yuck. Secondly, a cannibal. Let's skip the fuck over that bit, Jesus. The senseless killing was just,,, laughable, too, honestly. I don't even have the energy to get into all of that crap.
Ah, Leroi. Leroi, Leroi, Leroi. Say it thrice and it still doesn't sound nice. This man became aroused at the death of men. Took advantage of the girl in his control and, for the first half held himself back yes, because she was vulnerable, and yes because she was completely at his mercy, and then not only did he fuck her anyway, he agreed to a BDSM relationship with her without hesitation, broke both of his boundaries, emotionally manipulated her further into a reward/punishment dynamic for EVERYTHING IN HER LIFE, and, on top of all that, the real reason he didn't want to have sex with her was because he had such an amazing wonderful megacock and was so outrageously good and rough at fucking that he didn't want to... fuck the trauma back into her...? And then, did it anyway...? This is such an example of bad, unsafe dynamics, just because you pop a yellow and a red in there doesn't fix anything. BDSM? Cool, hot, great, love to see it. ONLY if it's consensual and... done right. Bad BDSM is so unsexy. This was actually worse than 50 Shades in this respect. Also, get outta here with the 'No women and children' rule. You killed a woman, you killed a child, you did all this mad sex stuff with the girl in your 'care'. You aren't a good guy, and not in a steamy 'who did this to you' kind of way, in a, this guy is going to follow me home and ruin my life. This guy would poke holes in a condom, kinda thing. Terrifying, in a bad way. Again I'm not even going to get into the killing here. I'll get RSI in my fingers from typing 'why, why, why' and begging for life minutes back.
Too many names, too cliche, and I actually didn't clock that Leroi's last name was Montesano until the last couple of pages and Enzo was actually his uncle. Just didn't get that. Maybe that was on me. We had to sit through like, 30 pointless killings so that Styx could tick her bingo cards. The ending was so rushed that I actually don't understand why the book was 600-something pages. Epilogue made me angry, and we never got closure on 'mom'.
I read this two days ago and I actually can't remember the boy's name. He shouldn't have died, that whole thing was weird. The Anton conspiracy theory from Seraphine was stupid and annoying, Ember just completely disappeared, and the explosion in the apartment was also dumb. You know one of my biggest small detail gripes, though, was just the BS technical jargon lightly sprinkled in there. The bit after the explosion when he says 'I went and got an exact clone of my phone from my convenient downstairs flat naked ehehehe and just continued on'. Girl, Gigi, I beg you. Stop this. And please never talk about a 19 year old's dick pics ever, ever again.
Best part of this book has been the reviews. One star for the audacity of this shit, and one star because lol, wtf. Imagine getting this published by real people.
Genuinely? 1/10, eye bleach pls. Now onto the next one.
I don’t know why this book has bad ratings here. I really enjoyed. People say it’s not well written. Well everyone knows I rate books by the vibes, the feel and also by the writing style but I don’t look for literary masterpieces. In my humble opinion this book checked my boxes. It’s a very cool interesting story with lots of action, spice, angst and some form of comedy. Leroy is a hit man and Seraphine is a “Lolita Assassin and she is insane. And to help her survive he MUST tame her. This book focus on a bad ass woman who actually suffered horrors and was lied and deceived by everyone. She was imprisoned, tortured and turned into a cold blooded killer with skills in seduction and killing. With the face of an angel, body of vixen and innocent look, she is truly the angel of vengeance. I felt so bad for her but also found some comedic relief with certain things she did… let’s just say that I wouldn’t accept any sandwiches from her 😂 Leroy is EVERYTHING. He is a hitman with a heart and he proves his love for her in the end in a way I wasn’t expecting. Well one I was expecting but the other it was shocking to me . He is patient, calm and collected, a true protector, sexy as hell and he is exactly what she needs. I am starting the second immediately.
I HIGHLY recommend the audiobook for this entire series, they are all duet narration with some audio effects. Specially because the books are so long the audiobook makes it perfect.
As dark romances goes this story is up there with some of the best. If you are a fan of HD Carlton's Haunting Adeline / Satan's Affair, you will love this book.
It's a story of 2 badass killers, Seraphine our FMC was a trained assasin by force. All she wants to do is keep her brother safe. Leroi was her knight in shining armour when he slaughtered her captors and rescued her.
A truly great storyline of abuse, revenge, murder and spicy dark romance, with a vivid knife scene IYKYK👌
I don't know what rating to give this book because i have mixed feelings for it. It was such a wild ride with really good plot twists and likable characters, but the length was a bit much. I thought i wouldn't mind since it's kind of about healing, but nope. and lemme tell you, it's not similar to mindfuck series or haunting adeline because these 3 books are totally different! No comparisons and nothing. Killing the abusers doesn't mean it's like those books. 🥹
 SERAPHINE & LEROI.𖥔 ݁ ˖
Seraphine has been rescued by Leroi from her father's basement after five years of constant abuse. Instead of becoming a damsel in distress, she's out for the blood of everyone who wronged her. lmao she's truly unhinged but also, sweet and kind at the same time? 😭
Leroi's pov was fun to read as he initially thought Seraphine would be innocent but discovered she's an assassin. He's hot and cold, but considerate and knows how to treat women, despite being a paid assassin, he has a good heart.
I don't have many problems with this book, and it started out great and i though it would have healing-type scenes. however, I was surprised by Seraphine's crazy personality, and the middle part became boring with the detailed murders of her abusers, which took up too many pages.
For a first book, it's not bad, but not that great either. Too many graphic scenes aren't my favorite, and dealing with triggers is necessary because it was too much. Lastly, Miko's death was really unnecessary, I'm so sad about it because he loved Leroi so much. Even though what he did in the end was wrong, it was purely out of his love for Leroi, and Leroi shouldn't have shot him just to prevent him from revealing a secret that could have gotten Seraphine killed. I'm torn right now because I can't forgive him. Killing Anton is one thing, but Miko was literally like his adopted child, and Miko loved him as a father.
the relationship building was okay-ish? It was fine but not actually great, a little too much sex or just killing.
I'm excited for Roman and Emberly's story though, but Cesare and Rosalind's? Not so much.
*for fans of Haunting Adeline, Satans Affair, The Mindf*ck series, etc.*
Tropes~ —badass assassin fmc —assassin mmc —he saves her/makes her forget about her trauma —age gap —knife to the throat —dom/sub relationship and BDSM and primal play
1 word. Wow. Like genuinely, I have never been so enthralled by a female main character. Taming Seraphine follows an abused and traumatised girl. Seraphine, who has been groomed into an assassin since she was 15. At age 21 she is found by a mystery man, Leroi, who is also an assassin. Once he finds out who she is, he is shocked but determined to hide her and grant her retribution. However, that proves to be difficult with Seraphine's killing tendencies, which is soon curbed by...✨operant conditioning sexual edition.
╰┈ Seraphine Her character was SPECTACULAR. I kid you not, the effort put into this character- the execution and craft is magnificent. I know exactly what and how she is. She's a girl who was forced to grow up too soon and learn to defend herself against the atrocities forced upon her. And due to this the child side is still inside of her waiting to be freed. Her child-like attributes was so well weaved into her psychotic side. (i LOVED the artwork she would do) Her trauma is peculiarly portrayed- I would've expected something else and some healing first but I think everything fitted in her character mold. She deserves the world and I want to give her a huge hug.
╰┈ Leroi This man was chef's kiss. My man's a SIMP. When you read him, you will know. Good lord, I was blushing and giggling so fucking much. So caring, hot, and utterly delusional. I would've liked more visual descriptions of him though.
OVERALL... The plot was very good- you never go wrong with retribution and it was easy to follow. The bombardment of names at the start was a bit much but it was okay after. Character's excelled truly (I'm telling all of my friends about this book bc Seraphine's character is exquisite). I liked the TLC moments we had and especially at the end with the love confessions. *insert teary eyes emoji* Anyways, please read this book bc fr it's so good and the fact it's her debut book too?! Ms girl, you have talent.
I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT COUPLE O.M.G!!!
5 fat stars.
Thank you so so so much to the author for giving me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
as far as dark romances go, the MMC whilst morally grey wasn’t a raging misogynist and didn’t harm or take advantage of the FMC
but given the FMCs trauma she comes across much younger than she is, there’s already a 10+ year age gap and I literally had to remind myself she wasn’t an actual child when reading her immature inner dialogue
Had to skim read at least 60% of the book because Im allergic to DNFing
The only exciting thing about this book was the two pages of tw/cw.
The characters lacked depth and personality, the plot feels rushed and choppy. & I feel personally victimized by the time I wasted trying to enjoy the whole thing.
It gets 2 stars for the authors note that came after the warning pages.
I really didn’t like this book. The characters were unlikable and annoying. The story line was a good idea but poorly executed. Too many names and connections. Too much unnecessary death. Just not for me.
WOW! I truly am speechless after finishing this ARC. I absolutely loved this book! Hands down one of the best dark romances I’ve ever read! The way Seraphine’s trauma and journey tugged at my heart strings while making me feel her rage was insane! I loved everything about Seraphine and Leroi’s story! And the spice was SPICY! 🌶 the 🔪 scene had me 😮 melting! I loved loved this book! I read this as an ARC but am buying a paperback ASAP!
I loved the blurb of this book and the concept, but I didn’t love it in actuality. It was fine but doesn’t stand out. The characters felt flat to me and I never connected with them. It was also way too long. If a dark romance is 600 pages then we gotta have a better plot going on.
Peen sandwich is what got me going.. Okay, im down to read this, lol.
Seraphine, poor girl.. be warned, please check Triggers. She had to be a killer in the first Prologue to get freedom for her grandma and brother. And this was her first kill. It went downhill from there. We do have a time jump in chapter 1. It's Leroi, our assassin who has a revenge plan against this family, and he takes them down one by one and finds Sera chained in the basement, thinking she's innocent in this whole thing. She is, but she's also a Lolita assassin. It's just not a very trained controlled one. So he takes her thinking all is well. At least Sera was honest in who she was and kept her murder thoughts to herself and on paper, lol.
First night boy, I gotta say Lerio dropped the ball on being an assassin by letting his crew in and being drunk. He knew he had a person in his house, and that has him waking to 7ish ppls murder and Sera cooking peen in his kitchen. He gets mad and makes her clean it up. Like, sir. You got drunk when you thought an innocent girl was in your house. I clapped for her killing all pervy men who tried to touch her/rape her. Lerio is attracted to her but still thinks she's innocent and isn't a killer. Boy, this annoyed me like stop treating her like a child. She had crap handed to her at least treat her like an adult. They had a lot of ups and downs between them and killing ppls on the list who she wanted revenge. Another twist on secerts and murder. We get some side characters and another secret. So it should be good.
I wish for the next book it isn't 660 pages. A lot was fillier. For me. This would have been good as a 300-page book.
The spice was okay it was a slowwww-burn and a lot of build-up.
Low angst, tiny om/Tiny ow drama, no cheating, drama, sexy times, no virgins
Recommend-yes/maybe DZ-⭐️⭐️⭐️ Heat level-🌶🌶.5

Gigi Styx had a very good plot and very well-prepared characters, but very badly written story. The writing style was very repetitive and redundant. The plot kept getting lost, and we weren't really making progress. The writing was either too rushed and making some scenes short-lived or too drawn out in other places.
I am not sure that I will read the remaining books, even if I am actually interested in the characters.
It’s an interesting premise for sure, but not executed well. I feel some of it was dark just for the sake of shock value (I’m never getting over the sliced up penis sandwich). The FMC’s insta-obsession with Leroi (such an unsexy name too) didn’t make sense
And don’t even get me started on him being her “therapist. Why would you use sex as therapy on a severely traumatized girl I know she wants it but I see her as having a mind of a vulnerable 15 year old.
I don’t even know where to start with this book. I’m disappointed because the synopsis sounded so good???
Leroi gave me the ick. He can’t say that Seraphine is immature and looks younger than she is whilst treating her like a child but then wanting to have sex with her a minute later. It’s gross.
Zero characters are enjoyable. The timing of the plot is beyond stupid. And the whole thing was so outrageous I wanted to scream.
I wish I DNF’d when I was debating it around the 25%-ish mark.

Gigi knocked it out of the park with this book because OMG was this book so good!!
The banter?? Amazing! The give and take between these two was great and so well written, I was genuinely laughing my butt off during scenes
Seraphine is my new favourite FMC. This woman is truly insane (in the best way possible) to the point where Leroi is terrified of her and I think that's iconic. While that is definitely due to her sad past, she uses that rage to become the badass she is
I’ve said this before and ill say it again, I am here for unhinged FMC’S! If you're like me and thrive on characters who walk the fine line between sanity and sheer chaos, then this book is calling your name.
“That man touched me, so I cut off his dick,
Yes!! Seraphine is a force of nature, a whirlwind of revenge, raw emotion and she’s wholly unapologetic about all of it and that had me hooked from the first page.
This is everything I enjoy in a revenge trope story. There's just something irresistibly captivating about a character who's a little rough around the edges and a touch unhinged that I will eat it up all day every day.
“An agonizing death is the only thing I enjoy about being in the company of a man. However, as with most of his kind, he’s left me unsatisfied."
“A man came to the window, she says, her voice distant and flat. “He was rude. “He touched you? “I stabbed him in the eye.
Books like this are why the dark romance genre can be so healing for readers, call it what you will, but this was therapy wrapped in pages. I loved this. The storyline? Gripping. The character development? Flawless. The spice? Was GIVING. This was such a wild ride and I seriously loved it all.
