Jason Luke enjoyed several years involved in the BDSM lifestyle - but he is quick to point out that his experiences don't qualify him as an expert, any more than knowing how to drive a car makes him a qualified mechanic. 'Interview with a Master' is a novel about how one man became a Master. The book is a work of fiction, but Jason has drawn heavily on encounters from his own real life. He won't say which parts of the book are fictionalised, and which parts are auto-biographical.

Erotic BDSM fiction written by a man from a man's point of view.

2.5 stars ... maybe 2.75 at best

2 for the actual book that was really just 'ok' (IMO) and .5/.75 for the author trying to remain a 'mystery' and all that jazz.

I get it, OK? BDSM is all the rage right now and male POV IS very popular with readers so throw out there a concept for a book that has a story told from male POV that is actually written by a man, who, apparently, "enjoyed several years involved in the BDSM lifestyle" and I am sure you'll get the buzz going.

Too bad "enjoying several years involved in the BDSM lifestyle" doesn't make you a writer.

You know the saying "likes to hear the sound of his own voice"?? This is what this book feels like. As if this guy wanted to be interviewed by someone so bad and when nobody came knocking said to himself "I'll just write a book about being interviewed" ... Give me a fucking break.

Three reasons this book didn't work for me:

The interviewer ... Leticia.

 photo ryanrollingeyes_zps968bc419.gif

I didn't know you can become a reporter with an IQ of a pencil or can you?? What paper would hire someone as stupid as this chick?? 'Daily Prophet'? I am sure even they have stardards. I am curious if the author did that so the male character would appear 'smarter' next to her? What? He didn't think we got that he was brilliant because he threw around Latin terms??

Quotes like this one:

“I went to the kitchen, found a glass in a cupboard and filled it with tap water. As a rule I never drank the stuff. Fish have sex in water think about that…

 photo areyoufuckingkiddingme_zps2b4f3271.gif

And last but not least, Jonah/Luke or Luke/Jonah. Talk about having a fucking superiority complex. Dude, confidence is sexy. Arrogance is not. Just FYI.

See this:

I would rather watch Phyllis "work out" than recommend this book ...

This was my anticipation in waiting for this book to finally go live to be able to buy it!

And even before I got my hands on an ecopy Master Jonah/Jason Luke had me right where he wanted me:
"One of a Masters most potent, powerful weapons is........Anticipation." - Jonah Noble

Wow! What can I say?! First off it's written by a guy, um, hello, a guy!!!! That had me from the start right there! Jason Luke:

I had many moments while reading where I probably would have done this if I wasn't already laying down.

Just.....damn!!! There was no sugar coating of anything but that made it even that more intense for me. This wasn't meant to be a story that was sugar coated, it was to give you a glimpse as to what it is like to be a Master and some of his experiences when he lived that lifestyle while being interviewed.

I did find it frustrating reading without any chapters.

But I understand why they were left out besides the few breaks in the writing. The flow of the story would have been too interrupted by having actual chapters, plus for readers like me who like stopping at chapters when going to bed it makes us continue reading till we fall asleep because we're so damn tired but just can't STOP reading because it's THAT damn good of a book!

And then we get to the ending. WTF?!?!?!? Just when I think I have an idea of what might possibly happen next, I'm thrown completely for a curve and the book ends! I think I felt all of these and more and am still trying to figure out exactly how I feel.

It is definitely a book I'll have to go back and re-read! I did find myself glancing ahead on the page and kick myself every time when I did that, but that only happens when it's a book I've been anxiously waiting to read.
I look forward to reading many more books by Jason Luke!!!!!

****4.5 I want more Jonah Noble stars****

Interview With A Master by Jason Luke took me by surprise. It is truly an interview like no other. Mr. Luke informs his readers that he had spent and enjoyed several years in the BDSM lifestyle so this book is based on several real-life encounters and of fiction He will not state which parts are autobiographical. Interview with a Master focuses on Jonah Noble and his tale of how he became of a Master in the BDSM world.

"Jonah Noble at age nineteen was a self-obsessed bastard. Jonah Noble at age twenty-five was still learning to understand women, and certainly not a worthy Master. It's only now- fifteen years after I first met Claire-that I consider myself a decent man."

When newspaper intern, Leticia first appeared to interview Jonah Noble, a Master in BDSM, she did not expect her interview would take on the course it did. As the two spend more time together, it developed into more of a deeper friendship. This is no ordinary tale of woman meets man and falls in love but simply a man and woman getting to know each other to the point that there is this real desire for each other. Jonah’s story-telling of his life will have readers anticipating what’s next and holding their breath as was in the case for Leticia .

"More than that, generally speaking, in a BDSM relationship, the submissive is the one who holds the real power. Because BDSM is based on consent. The Master cannot exert control and power over someone who does not willingly- willingly offer themselves. A Master without a submissive is a guy. Just a guy. He needs someone who wishes to submit to him, in order to become a Master." ~Jonah

What truly makes Interview with a Master stand out is that not only it is told in Jonah’s point of view but rather the way he tells his story. Jonah does not give you a standard interview of what people expects or interprets of what the BDSM lifestyle consist of. He gives Leticia an interview of a lifetime with raw, honest, and straight to the point. He doesn’t give you bullshit answers but the TRUTH!! The straightforwardness of his answers in the interview will truly capture your attention and will want you to know more of Jonah Noble. Personally speaking, I found reading a man’s point of view on the BDSM lifestyle more interesting.

The way Mr. Luke was able to capture Jonah and tells his story was done so beautifully. I wouldn’t say this is your typical traditional erotica BDSM book. So if you are looking for a red room of pain, well don’t. There is none. This book is about Master Jonah and his rules. His rules of what a Dom/Sub relationship is like. His rules of punishment. His rules and the way he likes to do it. At the end of the book, I was left holding my breath and wanted more of Jonah Noble. I did not want the interview to end. If you are expecting a happily ever after, there is none. Mr. Luke will leave you shock at the end and have you screaming at your kindle, WHY!! So, I am hoping that there will be a book 2 and Mr. Luke will continue the beautiful development of Jonah and Leticia.

"Every man should make the effort occasionally to throw the rule book out. It doesn't matter if the relationship is BDSM or vanilla- every man should go out of his way to make the woman in his world feel desired and wanted. It's worth the effort and planning to occasionally appear spontaneous." ~Jonah

4.5 anticipating stars

Jason Luke’s Interview with a Master takes you on a journey like no other. Reality and fantasy mingle as his story is told, through the voice of Jonah Noble.

Jonah Noble is a businessman, he’s wealthy and he is Master. Ready to tell his story to the world. What led him to this lifestyle, what kept him so wrapped up in the idea of a woman’s submission that he stayed. The art of seduction and the mastery of claiming a woman’s trust. This is his story, told through his experiences.

Leticia Fall has never fantasized too much about the idea of BDSM, but as she interviews Jonah she finds herself more and more aroused by the idea. Leaving the dull gray of a small town to live her life in color; Leticia finds herself on the cusp of a career making situation. Jonah may be newsworthy in his business life, but his private life has never been exposed in such vivid details. He wants his full story to be told and he wants her to be the one to tell it.

When I started to see the teasers for this story I knew this was going to be a drop-everything-and-read-it-now book. The concept of this story was fresh and the fact that some parts were based the author’s experience was intriguing in its own way. But this story was all about anticipation for me. Not just of what he was going to reveal, but where they were going to go. Jason Luke did a fantastic job of ensuring that you were always craving more. More of Jonah’s stories more of his questions of Leticia more of just.... everything.

Although I knew there was no way I was not going to read this book immediately, I was not quite sure if the format of the story would work for me. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was still able to be fully enraptured by, not only the revelations of his past, the insight into a woman’s mind and her body, but the slow dance of the attraction of these two. The way his stories exposed her desires, the slow stoking of the flames of the unknown.

After finishing this there is just one thing that I want... more.

With the recounting of events and erotic experiences, I found that the exposure of his life and her reactions far more enticing than the actual scenes laid out. It was as if we were slowly being seduced by his words.

“I want you and I need you, but I don’t want you to fall in love with me.
“What makes you so sure that I will?
I smiled, but there was no humor.
“Because I’m fighting with all my strength to stop falling in love with you.

This felt like a slow tease, building up to the conclusion of the story but leaving so much left unsaid. The story could easily end here, but I can’t help but want see this story continue. If you are a fan of erotica and love something that is not just the same story retold with new characters, this is your book.

 photo interviewwithamasterquotey_zpsd4eb7685.jpg

This one really jumped out of nowhere for me. Last week, I’d never even heard of Jason Luke and now I’m a huge fan and I’ve even interviewed him. Interview With A Master is the story of one dominant, Jonah Noble, telling his story over several days to a journalist intern, Leticia Fall. After she asks him several superficial questions, Jonah demands that she conducts a ‘proper interview and offers her a career-making interview with America’s elusive, notorious BDSM Master.

And so we begin. And from this moment I was completely captivated, utterly enthralled as I listened to that intoxicating voice telling his story. We chart his metamorphosis from horny teenage virgin to the calm, collected and very commanding dominant we see before us today and I was hooked and just about ready to kneel at his feet.

Not one to allow just one way traffic, Jonah insists that, for every revelation he gives Leticia, she reciprocates with one equally as personal about herself.

I smiled thinly and shook my head. “Not yet.‘Do ut des, Leticia.

She frowned.

“It’s a Latin term, I explained. “It means ‘I give that you may give. It’s your turn to answer my questions about you. That was the agreement, yes? Our deal is based on the principle of reciprocity.

What follows is an intoxicating and highly addictive exploration of BDSM with Jonah’s story mostly told in retrospect as his fascination with his interviewer, Leticia, grows stronger as the book progresses but there’s one question he won’t answer and you will have to wait until almost the very end of the book to find out what that is. I’ve seen some criticism of the ending of the book, but for me it’s a brave decision by the author and one that I applaud.

 photo masterjonahquotalicious_zpsea8f1279.jpg

I so enjoyed this sensual novel I guess what makes it so different is that it’s BDSM told from the male POV by a male author. That’s not something that we see very often but it’s a fascinating insight. I was completely lost, desperate to keep turning those pages to know what was going to happen next, sadly watching the progress indicator on my Kindle creep ever close to 100%, knowing it was all about to end and I just wasn’t ready to part from Jonah. I did think there were a lot of loose ends very close to the finish and wondered if it would all come together by the conclusion but it did and its really quite a shocking ending that took me by surprise, even though the clues were there, and had me gasping in shock.

“More than that, generally speaking, in a BDSM relationship, the submissive is the one who holds the real power.

Leticia shook her head. “How can that be?

“Because BDSM is based on consent, I said. “The Master cannot exert control and power over someone who does not willingly – I raised my finger to emphasize the point, “willingly offer themselves. A Master without a submissive is a guy. Just a guy. He needs someone who wishes to submit to him, in order to become a Master.

This is a very frank and deliciously hot account of Jonah’s sexual proclivities. It’s eerily atmospheric and the style is fairly reminiscent of Anne Rice’s Interview With The Vampire I definitely got the same slightly haunting feeling reading this although, of course, the subject matter is very different. Yes, this is highly titillating but it also reads like literary BDSM it’s a thinkin gal’s piece of erotica. It goes deeper than just the physical as Jonah talks at length about the psychological balance between a dom and his sub and I found myself falling for him and was a lost cause by the end of the book. he’s a delicious dominant and yet I found him to be really quite a lonely figure and I felt sad for him. Despite being a man who seemingly has everything and a collection of submissives at his beck and call, he’s lacking that real connection that a true couple shares and I so wanted this for him.

So this is a highly engaging, utterly compelling and thoughtful piece of fiction and I’m going to name this one a Sinfully Sexy Recommended Read

5 sensual stars

My Jonah and Leticia:

When presented with a chance of scoring exclusive interview with "America's elusive, notorious BDSM Master, Jonah Noble", Leticia Falls doesn't hesitate. But while Jonah shares his story, relives his past sexual encounters and explains his lifestyle; he wants something in return from Leticia...

If Interview with a Master was supposed to be a sexy story, author definitely failed somewhere. I expected to be seduced, entertained and immersed in the world of Master Jonah. Unfortunatelly, I wasn't any of those things. Writing had this terse forced vibe and many things that Jonah said were turning me off instead of being hot. I get it that a Master has to be dominating. But Jonah Noble was crass (not in a sexy aplha male way), did some disturbing things and overall didn't fit into my image of attractive and charismatic narrator of erotic novel.

I have to admit that I picked this book mainly because it is supposed to be written by a man who participates in BDSM lifestyle. Prior to reading this book I wasn't sure if I should believe it or if it was only a part of marketing. But now, after reading this story myself, I would say it is a true. It was clear that narrator was very passionate about subject matter. However, author's storytelling skills were slightly amateurish and all over the place. And while it is understandable when it comes to debut novel of new author, it doesn't mean that I have to like it or that readers should ignore it.

At first, I thought that author's attempt to write this book in interview-like style is interesting and appealing idea. But it didn't work for me in reality.

Firstly, story missed addictive feeling I have when reading classical novel and it never hold my comeplete attention. If it was a result of untraditional format of storyline or story itself, I cannot tell. But result was the same - I lacked the connection with characters.

Secondly, author did a poor job of separating Jonah's past and present feelings. While recollecting with a big pleasure his thoughts and feelings towards his past sexual partners, Jonah simultaneously thought intimately about Leticia. It made Leticia look like sexual object, rather than a woman he was interested in and I never felt real believable attraction between Leticia and Jonah. It seemed like author put too much on his plate. Explaining BDSM, telling how Jonah became who he is now and depicting rising attraction between Jonah and Leticia. All at once. And it all blew up in his face.

I am sure that this book has its target group and that it will be loved by many. However, I was not impressed by this story and found it rather disappointing.

Mixed feelings for the hotly anticipated Master and his tales of Erotic Exploits disguised as an interview/self-help seminar...

I was drawn to this book because word on the street (and by "street" I mean GoodReads bookclubs) was that the author was experienced in the BDSM lifestyle and would be offering a new perspective... Other than the fact that this was a MALE perspective, I'm not sure how successful this book was in living up to the hype. It was enjoyable... If you're hoping to read some BDSM-themed erotica from a male perspective, I say go for it... The whole "interview inside a narrative" structure was entertaining and refreshing for this genre... But it wasn't groundbreaking by any means. It started off strong and began unraveling mid-book.

This is a 3 1/2 star read for me.
It lost half a star for overwhelming arrogance.
It lost a whole star for the last 20% of the book.

I was thrilled to do a Buddy Read of this book with the amazing Wendy (Wendy'sThoughts). Because my experience with this book was shared with her, I must reference a few of the conversations we had while reading together...

She pointed out that the book was split into two narratives:
1. The Erotica / Romancing the reader story line...
2. The Philosophical Men's Guide to Women & BDSM...

I agree completely. This split structure was both a blessing and a curse. It keeps the reader on their toes and a little off balance as we try to figure out what Master Jonah's motives are for allowing this interview and for choosing the intern Leticia as the person to document his life.

Reasons to Read it:
1. Some lovely erotic exploits
2. Jonah's endless opinions - even if you don't agree, he's passionate
3. The sinking feeling that this whole thing will end badly
4. The humor sprinkled throughout
3. The quotable "rule book" of Jonah Noble

JONAH NOBLE
America's elusive, wealthy, notorious BDSM Master...
"It wasn't about physical domination for me. It still isn't. It’s about that emotional transfer of power: the command and control. That’s what turns me on, Leticia. That’s what I find so addictive about being a Master. I love the power, given to me by the submissive."
Jonah is known as a Master of all things. King of his business empire and renowned for his expertise in training submissives.

LETICIA FALL
Aspiring Journalist, Interviewing Master Noble ...
"If you're right, then what you're about to tell me is the secret to success for the average married man. I'd hate to miss a single word.
The price for an exclusive in-depth interview with Jonah is that he will be granted the opportunity to return the favor - question for question, answer for answer - neither party will hold anything back.

This is where Wendy made a very good point - that this book is part & part :

This book parallels Interview with the Vampire with respect to the narrative structure... One man telling his epic history to a complete outsider who finds the stories amazing and nearly beyond belief...

The similarrity to Silence of the Lambs is found in the calculating and manipulative hero as well as the "quid pro quo" dynamic of give and take between subject and interviewer...

The rest is an ode to Jonah's male ego.
He spends the entire interview telling stories which highlight his sexual prowess and attempting to demonstrate his expertise of women.

As Master Jonah tells his tales, we are being seduced by him; obviously manipulated. A man telling his own history has complete control of the facts presented...

Jonah's answers are structured around recalling erotic encounters throughout his life - in vivid detail - which follow his journey in becoming a Master. His anecdotes are often punctuated with his opinions on sex in modern society.

He has very strong opinions on women in general, and considers himself an expert on female sexuality - This is where many readers will find themselves uncomfortable with the broad generalizations which Jonah presents as fact. He knows he is a politically-incorrect jerk, and if you can recognize this facet of his personality, and not get offended, you will handle him as well as Leticia.

The reader steps into the role of Leticia as we listen to Master Jonah's stories. We are experiencing these erotic stories at the same time, and since the whole story is from Jonah's point of view, we must assume that Leticia's thoughts mirror our own.

My thoughts on the Ending:
Click the spoiler at your own risk!

Some of My Favorite Moments:

This book does have a cliffhanger ending, and as of the date of this review, there is no information on the upcoming second book...

As I mentioned (several times) this was a Buddy Read with Wendy. I encourage you to read her review of this book as well. She's awesome, and I get more enjoyment of of a book when I have the opportunity to read with her.

Excerpt: 'Interview with a Master'

“Anticipation is more potent than a whip and more compelling than handcuffs. The ability to tease and arouse a woman is a subtle skill few men ever bother to learn, I said. “But learning the art of anticipation can make a woman go weak at the knees with longing.
“I’m listening… Leticia said. “But I don’t follow.
“I’ll give you an example, I smiled wickedly. “Come over here.
Leticia rose from her chair obediently and stood facing me.
“Now close your eyes.
“W?
“Because I’m going to touch your shoulder, and then your cheek.
She looked puzzled. She shrugged and closed her eyes. Then I touched her shoulder gently and slid my hand across the soft skin of her cheek. She opened her eyes again.
“How was that? I asked.
She shrugged. “Um…okay.
“Now close your eyes again, and keep them closed.
When Leticia closed her eyes, I waited for a long moment, until she began to move her head as though listening to some soft secret sound. “Jonah?
I reached out and brushed my hand down the soft trembling skin of her throat and she let out an involuntary gasp. I withdrew my hand, and waited, counting out the long seconds. Leticia smiled a little nervously, and then I traced my fingertip down her forearm. She shuddered, and her breath caught in her throat. She opened her eyes, her face lightly flushed.
“Anticipating is expectation, I said. “It’s the mystery of not knowing, and the heightening of all a woman’s senses. Anticipation draws out the moment so that the moment then becomes exquisite, I explained. “And it is only something as powerful as anticipation that can elevate an ordinary touch to a breathtaking caress.

First and Foremost...
Thank you Shurrn for Buddy Reading with me... Always. Anytime, Any Book

4 Star BDSM Master's Philosophy Manual or 3 Star Erotica/Romance

I just finish Interview with a Master and feel as if I have read two books at the same time. This book was written by Jason Luke who clearly states from my understanding, a Master's experience in BDSM. For the sake of this book and review, I am believing this is true.

The title reflects exactly how the story is structured... Jonah Noble is the elusive, rich, powerful man in his mid thirty's who everyone wonders about. Many articles have been written about his business success; some have hinted to him being involved in the BDSM lifestyle. He has agreed to be interviewed this time by the local newspaper and they have sent Leticia, a young intern to do it. She is wrapping up the questions, thinking she has covered everything when Jonah, frustrated, lashes out and says how juvenile and immature her interview questions were; she could have just read all of the other articles out there and never wasted his time. Something, however, stops him from allowing her to leave.

He offers her a real opportunity if she is willing to take it...

He will tell her everything about being a Master, no question unanswered but it will be an equal situation for her... he will ask her anything and she must answer. Leticia ponders this for a moment as she wants to prove herself to the paper; doing an expose' would be a kudo for her. She accepts.

Here is where I want to explain my ratings for this book... because there really was in my mind 2 books going on at the same time.

First, there was the Erotica/Romance book of a powerful man telling tales to young inexperienced woman... who had her epiphany of realizing small town life was not for her.... something was missing. She broke the long term engagement to her high school sweetheart... searching for more ... moved to the big city to become a journalist. She is his audience... willing to listen and take notes about how he got into this life... what led him to it... when did he know he was a Dom.... how does he train....all personal memories... as he tells her very graphic sexual experiences from his life... there is an exchange of feelings between them of sorts... and this would be what I call the erotica/romance aspect.

This was where there were parts of the book which were hot .... I am telling you scorching, steaming, pulsating, get your BOB battery-ready HOT.

There was so much telling of Jonah's experiences in minute graphic detail it bordered on almost too much... I said almost....there was very little chemistry, though, between theses two... I just didn't feel it. She desired him and what he offered... he seemed drawn to her sweetness and naivete as fresh and new but overall it wasn't overwhelming. I think she was more turned on by the telling of the tales and wish fulfillment of her fantasies. He seemed very involved in the telling of the tales and remembering the past. It also felt at times like he was seducing or grooming her with these memories ....a constant manipulation of one type of another.

What was more interesting to me was the other book I ended up reading.....a Philosophical Men's Guide to Women with BDSM Explained. Here we were treated to the rare chance of hearing from a Master; what he thought about the workings of sexuality.... all it means with men and women. How anticipation can be power during times together... how heightening the senses this way can cause amazing results... how giving begets giving in all strong relationships... meaning a person needs to understand submitting is not for the taking only but really for the sharing of giving to each other...

This part of the book had some strong ideas and I felt the real reason it was written in the first place. The author had serious philosophical concepts he wanted to share... things he felt were worthwhile and the best way to get these messages out... through a book which would reach his target audience.
Many of these messages are thoughtful and actually would be excellent required reading for men ... in some instances... others things mentioned by him felt more manipulative or generalizations which I was not of agreement.

So what are my final thoughts.. well, if you read this with the total mindset of this is an erotic/romance then it was a collection of hot steamy sexual tales and I am not sorry I read it. If you read it for insight from a BDSM Master, it had very interesting concepts; was understandable, educational and worth quoting and sharing with both sexes.

There is a cliffy... be forewarned .... Master Luke is practicing what he preaches... he is giving us book denial with No permission to read the next one yet...
For my full experience reading this... please go to Shurrn's review
for an incredible analysis.

4 'Yes Master' stars
Women don’t want to be forced to their knees. They want to be made to feel weak at the knees.

Leticia is the young journalist looking for a break and it comes in the form of America’s elusive, notorious BDSM Master, Jonah Noble. An interview of a lifetime not to mention an interview that will make or break her career. It's all about giving and taking. He is as curious about her as she is him, but how much is she really prepared to share with a man who is confident and arrogant enough to bare all .
"A Master without a submissive is a guy. Just a guy . He needs someone who wishes to submit to him, in order to become a Master.

Not holding anything back, with no apology or regret, Re-living the path Jonah took to be the Master he is today, making sure that Leticia fully understands what it is he is telling her. Leticia is a virgin in the BDSM world, and as they go through the basic understanding of what it means to be in a BDSM relationship.

Behind the privacy of close doors, as secrets, insight and fantasies are shared, it is hard to keep the heart out of coming to conclusions. As desires are satisfied could one really just walk away??? Sometimes fate plays horrible tricks, making you want something you cannot have, making you wish, making you wonder
“Because I’m fighting with all my strength to stop falling in love with you.

Interview with a Master was an insightful erotic read from a self proclaimed Master who is confident, dominant and arrogant. He knows what he wants, pushes the limit and tests his control to see how far he can go. Leticia is a young naïve woman, who comes into the BDSM world as a virgin, coming into the interview with her preconceptions while keeping an open mind. Jonah has a sense of mystery behind him as to why do the interview now, why give people access to your private memoirs. I kind of just jumped right into this read, so I wasn't prepared for the ending it had in store, because it literally left me with my mouth wide open. I need to jump on the second book ASAP.

DNF 39%

I really wanted to like this story, I was really excited about it! Male author, male POV, BDSM lifestyle, what's not to like, right?!

I literally couldn't feel a thing while reading it! Nothing... nada...
I started to push myself to read it, not to lose focus, because I saw only 4 or 5 star reviews here and on Amazon, and thought to myself " I must be missing something".

I saw a little cheerleader on my right shoulder, cheering letter by letter " you can do it!"... But no... Just no...

Then at the part that I decided not to finish it, to just let it go, something was said that made a hunch that there will be an actual plot happening... But the problem was that I couldn't care less anymore...

The heroine/journalist...

description

The interview with a master...

description

The writing style.. I had a feeling like the author wanted to make almost every sentence quotable...

description

Then after everything, I decided to skim some reviews and found out that some parts are autobiographical.. And I just felt bad.. Because I had a feeling like a DNF-ed someone's life story...

I normally try to write spoiler free reviews, because I hate a story to be spoiled for me. I feel that in order for me to tell you what I had issues with, I’m going to have to spoil some things. Sorry, it’s necessary this time.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

I am having a very hard time writing this review because I know it is not easy to write a book and reviews are important but I can not give this book high stars. As I read the other reviews I actually wonder if we read the same book.

The first thing I noticed about this book is that there are no chapters, it like one long story. I had never read a book without chapters but I thought OK and kept reading. I had a VERY hard time finishing this book.

To me there is no definitive story line, plot twist or even an HEA. The only WTF moment in the book was at 99% and that was predictable, then the story just ends...

The sex was hot but all in the past nothing in the present. The more I read this book the more aggravated I got with some of the things he says as a "Master".

"Falling in love is the biggest mistake a Master can make"

Statements like this through out the book make me wonder if the author really is in the lifestyle because I have never heard that before and I have been in the lifestyle for awhile.

I think this story has potential but as it stands right now the only way I would "buy" this book is if it was free...maybe.

AMAZING....MUCH MORE THAN 5 STARS
ARC received from author for honest review

I finished this a couple of days ago and needed sometime to formulate my thoughts and I still can't think of the right things to say! The story is amazing, the writing flows beautifully. Jason Luke is the true Master.
I fell in love with Johan immediately. The man just talks and I want to drop my panties for him. I keep picturing this smooth, suave voice.

Nothing about this was predictable.

Seriously this will be on my favorites list!
And now I need to decide if my BOB needs to be renamed Jonah or Jason.

This isn't one of my better reviews because I just can't seem to stop saying things other than AMAZING, UNBELIEVABLE, WOW AND OH MY GOD!!!!

I wish I could give this the review that it deserves but compared to Jason's words I can only sit back and say just go read this, you want be disappointed!!!!!!

Ladies! This is one book that we all need to get our men to read!!

3.5 STARS FOR JONAH NOBLE!

"Before we go any further, I must warn you that the things I am going to share with you throughout this interview are very explicit. I can either censor the descriptions, or I can tell you in detail. The choice is yours. But if you want the detailed explanation, then you must be prepared for graphic language. I'm no fan of political correctness, so you can't expect me to keep apologizing if your delicate, sensitive ears are offended by language."

So, let's start with the bio on Jason Luke's ŷ page.

This fascinated me. I was absolutely gagging for this book after reading that. But, it wasn't quite what I expected. Bear with me, there was good and bad to this. Things that worked and things that didn't...

"This should be interesting. If you're right, then what you're about to tell me is the secret to success for the average married man. I'd hate to miss a single word."

This book was nothing like the typical romance books we read. Don't go into it expecting a romance. For starters, it commits the cardinal sin as far as I am concerned, when it comes to love stories. It doesn't have a happy ending. It's left open to interpretation, it leaves you wondering, it leaves you with a million and one questions.

It does, however, have a leading lady, a good touch of steamy chemistry between our interviewer and our interviewee and a confession of love. Did I believe the 'love' between the two characters? Did I hell! It came from left field and just did nothing whatsoever to move me.

"I need you, but I don't want you to fall in love with me."
"What makes you so sure that I will?"
I smiled, but there was no humour. "Because I'm fighting with all my strength to stop falling in love with you."

Secondly and leading on from me being unmoved, this whole thing was far, far too clinical for me. This book is exactly as the title suggests. It is an interview, conducted by a pretty young journalist, named Letitia, with renowned BDSM master, Jonah Noble. If you've read Ella Frank's Bling Obsession, there were parts of this that really reminded me of that, but nowhere near as emotive.

Throughout the story, Jonah recounts his experiences with various lovers throughout his years as a dominant. That just didn't work for me. I didn't feel any connection to the characters and the second hand nature in which we learn about Jonah's previous partners just left me feeling a sense of detachment that I couldn't shake.

Did it turn me on? No, not really. It kind of just proves one of the things that Jonah states in the book... women do need an emotional connection to get the most out of sex. I felt no emotion for these characters at all and therefore read the scenes more like they were a sex-ed lesson, rather than a raunchy novel and characters that I could fall in love with.

"Women need to feel loved in order to want sex. And men need sex, in order to feel loved."

However, it did intrigue me. Let's face it, thanks to Fifty Shades there has been a lot of speculation, a lot of fascination and a lot of rumour around the BDSM lifestyle. I'm sure some of the accounts we read are pretty accurate and some less so. So I was very interested to read from the POV of a 'BDSM Master' himself.

"She started to plead."
I looked at Leticia. "That was the real power," I said soflty. "That was what turned me on, and catapulted me into the world of BDSM. I loved the way Claire pleaded and begged for her release. It wasn't about physical domination for me. It still isn't. It's about that emotional transfer of power: the command and control. That's what turns me on, Leticia. That's what I find so addictive about being a Master. I love the power, given to me by the submissive. It's symbolic of their trust. Claire showed me how intoxicating that feeling could be."

Firstly, I wanted to hear things from a man's side and secondly I wanted to see how accurate the lovely Fifty and friends have been. I have to say, I didn't learn quite as much as I thought I might. In fact, some of it was a bit disappointing, to be honest. No red-room, no crazy music to accompany a mandatory flogging... Apparently things aren't really as crazy and intense as good ol' Christian and his Dom pals make out. Bummer. Of course, Jonah/Jason does state that ever BDSM relationship is different, but still... *pouts*

Now, where I felt this book really came into it's own was the way Jonah Noble understands what women want. This is what I think this book needs shouting from the rooftops about. Ladies, you all need to grab a copy of this book, shove it into your man's hands and force him to read it! You. Are. Welcome!

"Leticia, no woman tastes like honey - but every man should tell the woman he is with that she does."
"What does that mean?"
"It means that every woman I have ever known intimately has been inhibited and self-concious about the way their pussy might taste to a man."
"Why?"
I shrugged. "How the hell would I know? You tell me. All I know is that women relax and let themselves go sexually once a man reassures her that he loves the way she tastes. I tell women they taste like honey."

Mr. Noble knows how to please his ladies. He's clearly spent years studying women and their reactions to every touch, every sound, every stimulant and he has taken notes. The man has done his homework. There are so many little tips and paragraphs in here that I was reading and thinking 'YES!! That is SO right! Every man needs to read this!' In fact, I'm thinking of writing to whoever is in charge of marriages and suggesting they make reading Interview with a Master a stipulation for all husbands-to-be! I'm pretty sure divorce rates would plummet and ladies of the world would walk around with bigger smiles on their faces!

"Every woman who is aroused by submission is also aroused by an alpha male who can tame her. These women aren't looking for a husband in the bedroom who will make them feel safe and loved. They already have that in their relationship. These women are looking for a man who is strong enough to conquer them. That way the woman can still feel vibrant and independent... but also feel comfortable submitting to their lover. That's the turn-on for women. They don't want to submissives... they want to feel like they can't resist submitting."

And I don't mean that every couple should start involving BDSM in their bedroom antics. Jonah just outlines simple observations that can be applied to every day, ordinary, vanilla relationships. He touches on the wants and needs of both men and women and how they need to understand one another better. It's insightful.

"I think women want men to be more like men again."

But then, there were also things from a man's POV that I just did not want to know. I didn't want to know that even when a man says 'I can't wait another second to have you' or is all overcome with need for his girl, that actually, it's all bull and he is just acting all overcome with need, when infact, he'd be quite capable of going and making a sandwich first. Yeh, I didn't wanna know that. I'd rather live in my little fantasy world where men just can't get enough of their women, thanks Jonah! Lol! I wanted to put my fingers in my ears and shout 'la la la la!'

So, I do think this book needed to be written. I'm glad Jason Luke put himself out there and told us how things are from a guys POV, and from the POV of a real life Dom.

"Anticipation is more potent than a whip and more compelling than handcuffs. The ability to tease and arouse a woman is a subtly skill few men ever bother to learn," I said. "But learning the art of anticipation can make a woman go weak at the knees with longing."

And unfortunately for me, the anticipation really was everything. I found this book to be more of an educational sexual self-help book, than a romance novel I could lose myself in.

Have you read it? Tell us what you thought?

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review, so here goes. Oh My God, Holy Cow and just Wow, Wow, Wow! Jason Luke has written a book similar to the style of Interview with a Vampire, and loosely based on his own life experiences in BDSM. We get to relive events from Master Jonah Noble’s life, while he speaks to his interviewer. Leticia is a young journalist trying to make a name for herself and decides to seek out Jonah for an interview. Jonah has a reputation for being a hard man to be with, he is of course gorgeous, strong, commanding and his eyes can bore into your soul, rendering you helpless to say no to him. As Leticia questions Jonah, listening to him reflect on his past, telling her stories of his life (in great detail I might add) on how he became the man he is today. Learning about Jonah’s life and what he endured as a teenager and everything else that led him to becoming a Master, had enabled them to gradually become friends. Leticia is secretly becoming attracted to Jonah, meeting with Jonah day after day is becoming more difficult for her to resist his charm, his strength. I found myself hoping they would start a relationship but Jonah is reluctant to give into his own feelings for Leticia. Jonah only has women in his life for his pleasure and hers, he has never had or wanted a loving relationship. Jonah plays the scene, Jonah demands his women are only in his life for the sex, the training of his Subs, and then he moves on. So does he give in and seduce Leticia? You will just have to read the book to find out. You won't regret it!
Before I give away too much more I just have to say that I have read my share of BDSM books, but Jonah/Jason Luke is a genius! The things he says about women and men and marriage are really so true, I related to so many things that were discussed in this book. This world needs more men like Jonah, and I’m not just talking about a man that will spank and tie up his woman, (although that may be fun) I am talking about a man that will take the time to truly understand a woman and expect her to do the same, to have a mutual relationship of respect and trust. BDSM is not about controlling a woman and satisfying the man, it’s about ‘do ut des “I give that you may give, that quote has so much meaning and I get it now. I will and have recommended this book to all my friends that like to read. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars and will probably read this one several times. I am hopeful that we will hear more about Jonah and Leticia, I really do! Just start writing that book now Jason cause this book is going to break records. Move over Christian Grey cause Jonah Noble is here.

5 out of 5 stars from The Book Nut ~ Kim

I loved it! I did. I think that's been pretty clear since I had been raving about it for a while now! I think this was a different but interesting read with a unique concept. The interview style book was different but enjoyable . I've read lots of reviews comparing this to FSOG. Don't go into this trying to compare because they are completely 2 different books. The only similarity would be that there were both BDSM books. But even that was completely different. I think this book makes FSOG seem over the top. This was more realistic and of course that may be because the author has claimed to have the lived the BDSM lifestyle and was A DOM. FSOG was more entertainment type of book with the OTT scenes and thrilling...that's not IWAM. If you're looking for something OTT, this is not for you. It's more serious, real and in my opinion, more interesting. I think Jason Luke knows exactly want a women want to hear because this book is filled with quotes that would make your panties melt. the character of Jonah was dark and mysterious and very sexy! This Sex scenes were pretty damn hot. It wasn't crude, but sexy and erotic. If you're going to read this book, just go into it knowing it is different and read it for how it's intended to be....an interview style book that is filled with quotes you will highlight all over the page...LOL

Jason Luke, Interview with a Master. Frank.Controlled,Well Executed.

I deliberately didn't read this book right out of the block, because there was a lot of publicity surrounding it. Not because I didn't want to read it, but because I didn't want my judgement to be swayed by all the positive buzz surrounding it. (I did bump it up my reading list though, because it is one of my favourite genres.) So with these points in mind...

The main character,Jonah Noble, (The Master) is a very well developed character, and one has an immediate 'feel' for his cool, controlled and commanding persona. Jonah's honest account and frankly delivered monologues and dialogue he has, with the female character Leticia.are enticing.( love the names by the way.)

The book evokes a range of feelings for me as a reader. This man is definitely 'in tune' with how the mind of a woman works. The character demonstrates this at various points with his explanations of aspects of BDSM and how the relationships between A Dominant and Submissive are derived. His careful observations of Leticia both in how she is perceiving her role in the interview and as a woman are excellently penned. I had a sense on one hand; of affection, attraction and admiration by Jonah for Leticia. These affectionate feelings were contradicted at times by the honed techniques of Jonah the Master. By nature, Jonah the Master constantly assesses and reassess Leticia, with calculating questions and his personal observations. Jason Luke created the 'anticipation factor' which touched me emotionally keeping me 'off balance' with the expectation that something may happen at any moment. He demonstrated, controlled poise, slow dialogue and carefully chosen words, which allowed the reader to be lead through the interview, disclosing Jonah's thoughts and spoken words, which complimented the story line excellently. I am looking forward to Book two in the future. A first book for Jason Luke, but definitely not the last, keep them coming.

5 glistening, Big Book of Rules stars...

What a fantastic, unique, compulsive story!

I didn't know quite what to expect when I impatiently picked up Interview With a Master on release day, but I knew, given the tantalising hype, that it was a "must read right now" for me.

The premise of the book is as the title suggests; the elusive, notorious BDSM Master, Jonah Noble, is to be interviewed by a young intern, Leticia Fall.

Told entirely from Jonah's POV, we are guided through the story of how Jonah reached his notoriety. The interactions between Leticia and himself form a major part of the dialogue, interspersed with pauses in the story to focus on Leticia.

"Do ut des-I give that you may give"

As Jonah relays his past, he is also trying to convey the meaning, for him, of the BDSM lifestyle he has led. Leticia is intrigued and glued to his every word, completing many notebooks scribbled with this incomparable tale.

The chemistry between the two characters is breathtaking, and is what I felt made the story a 5 star read for me.

I don't really want to say any more about the storyline, because it is unique and a most wondrous experience. I would urge you to take the plunge, and hope that it captures you in the same way. I would very much like to see if this story can be continued...please Sir!

This book did absolutely nothing for me. The hero in the story was way too much like a very familiar and loved "dom" ... at a young age he's seduced by an older woman, who uses him as her submissive, until he's ready to be a dom .. then when he's older he meets a woman during an interview .. this SCREAMS FSOG. I'm waiting for him to have a brother and a sister and adoptive parents and only seduce brunettes like the crack whore his mother was. And before you think, OMG another CG .. NO .. That is exactly the opposite of what I'm saying..

there was nothing that set this book apart for me. the writing was not very well. The lack of chapters, but more of page breaks an asterisks was frustrating. The lack of originality in the story was extremely disappointing. There was no connection to any of the characters. The language used in the book was anything but sexy.

Sorry to say it, but this book fell way short of what I expected it to be. With the recent influx of male authors on the scene writing romance for readers who are predominantly female, the author fell short.

I do wish the author success with his recent release, this one just wasn't for me.

ARC given in exchange for an honest review.

This book did not sit right with me at all.
description
and because of how badly some fans are reacting to reviews, I wasn't even going to give my opinion on it
description
but I decided that it was important to have as many differing opinions so that people can make an informed judgement about whether or not they should read this book. Ah, screw 'em.
description
So here goes.
The story is told mainly in flashbacks as the "Master" Jonah Noble tells his story to journalist Leticia. He tells Leticia all about his sexual conquests supposedly in explicit detail, and yet this was the most boring erotica I have ever read.
description
I felt like I was reading a badly written self help book. We do gleam some facts about the BDSM lifestyle but they are so rudimentary that you could learn everything he says from a Google search. Also his actions and views about women seem to counter what he tells Leticia about being a Master. I found Nobel to be chauvinistic and conceited.
description
He seems to think that an interview with him will make her career. Why? Because he was a "Master"? Because he was rich? She could have interviewed any Master and got similar results, and I got tired pretty quick of him thinking he knew what woman wanted and how "real" men act. At one point he describes a woman's breasts as pubescent...seriously? that's the word choice you're going with? Then there was this gem

"Women have three defenses they use against a man to get their way," I said. "The first defense is tears. The second defense is abuse, and the third defense is violence..."
description
Leticia wasn't much better. She came across as an unrealistic, simpering child. She does no research into BDSM and then has to be told by Nobel how to be a journalist. She tells him about a one night stand she had then worries he'll think she's a slut. Uh, hello? man whore telling you about all the women he's slept with. Then when they do kiss he pushes her away, cause you know Masters don't fall in love, and worries that it's her fault cause she didn't kiss him right. At the end she has a total melt down because she thinks he's cheated on her in this imaginary relationship they have together.
description
They never actually have sex by the way. And I can't forget his idea that to give yourself a taste of BDSM you should tie your arm to your headboard and masturbate with your non-dominate hand. Maybe I'm unique, but I'm pretty ambidextrous at getting myself off.
description
The only thing I found slightly interesting was Noble's Silence of the Lambs-esque "Do ut des". All in all I thought the characters were cliched, one dimensional, and just all around unlikable that I wasn't able to connect to either of them. This book is way too over hyped for what you get, and it seems to be all gimmick and marketing. Say it's written by a man from a man's point of view and
description
I'm not sure why that is but I hope other male writers in this genre don't take pointers from Jason Luke. If you read this book and liked it more power to you. We should all read what we enjoy but I hope that you also read some of the other BDSM erotica out there

This is sad. I understand parts of this book are autobiographical. I sure hope it's not the part for the reason he did not allow anyone to get close. I was really wanting to feel like I was inside the head of a Dom. If I was, he has to be the most vanilla Dom I have run across. The stories he decides to relate to a reporter regarding the story of his life were ridiculous. I know the author meant them to be hot but I felt like each story was fake and censored and nowhere near even lukewarm. It left me, as the reader, disconnected and empty..

If there is a woman around that even comes close to being as naive and just flat ignorant as this female reporter, she couldn't be older than 13. THIS is the reason I stopped reading most FM books and switched to MM. Surely I'm not so jaded to believe that someone in their mid-twenties is actually not that stupid. Do men actually find stupid women attractive? So, you won't find any connection with the female character in this book either.

Here Is the sad part. This author has the potential to be a good author. He just didn't have the proverbial balls to actually come up with the goods. I feel as if anything close to being the truth was censored. In my mind I see him with pen in hand, it shakes while he ponders what he wants to says and then his shoulders slump in defeat as he gives into his fear. I hope he takes all of the criticism and writes again with some guts.

I just finished Interview with a Master and I am left disappointed. I was going to wait until tomorrow to write my review. But decided I was not going to sleep on it. And it's my first review ever on goodreads so here I go:

I give one star for the steamy scenes and second star for it being different.

I understand that it was an "interview" but it lacked a story line. It was about Jonah and his sexual encounters. 3 women at different times in his life. What confuses me was why he felt compelled to tell his story to an amateur reporter? Really?!? He owned publishing companies and could have found someone more suitable.

I didn't care to read about Letitia's family history and the ex boyfriend. She wasn't likable in my eyes. Leticia annoyed me as she was incredibly naive. "Did you like it when you did "----" to the submissive?" Made it for a eye-rolling read. And what was up with her reaction at the end? I don't want to give any spoilers but her character flip out was bizarre, it didn't make sense.

The best analogy for this books is the Magic Mike movie. Great visuals but lack of a storyline. The sex scenes were hot yet seemed so distant.

The ending left me with a sour look, contemplating reading the 2nd book. Perhaps my curiosity will get the best of me.

I realize this book is called "Interview With A Master" but I wish it was written different.. like maybe flashes in and out of the "interview" when he starts to tell a story we're sent back there...reading about Jonah pacing around repeating a past encounter while Leticia writes it down, was about as sexually appealing as reading a newspaper..

There is no romance...no steam...

And the ending... wtf is that?
there is going to be another book, but when? and do I care? I don't know.

3.5 Seductive Scandalous Stars

The key to the best sex is anticipation

Jonah is a Master, a Dominate and an alpha male. He has had over a decade of experience in the BDSM life style and he’s sharing his past experiences. Leticia is the journalist that gets to interview him.

I so wanted to read this book because I heard the author shared real-life experiences. Sounds very intriguing right? As a debut author, I give Interview with a Master an okay and great attempt, but there are some things that just fell flat for me and didn’t work out.

I love the plot and since it’s about the Hero telling stories, I didn’t expect a super romantic story, what I was expecting was something very kinky and fun. I think I had too high of expectations.

Throughout the book Leticia and Jonah meet at each other’s places for the interview. The interview is conducted over several days and sometimes they meet more than once a day. Jonah doesn’t talk about his life in detail, but just shares a few past experiences, three ladies to be exact. As he describes each lady, he goes into detail about his sexual encounters.

First off, I love that it’s a story telling book, I think if there were flash backs, I wouldn’t have built a relationship with Jonah and Leticia. Every once in a while the dialogue is interrupted by a scene transition or change of subject. Jonah will only continue with the interview if he can ask Leticia personal questions, like when was the last time she orgasm. So there’s an underlying romance there, very tiny, but it’s noticeable.

The main flaw of the book is how short the read is. It’s too short to build any kind of chemistry between Jonah and Leticia. I kind of wanted like months of interviews, maybe she’s writing a book instead. Also, the other thing I have a problem with is how soft the BDSM is. I’m a hardcore BDSM reader and I’m pretty much open to all forms of play, so I have little patience in someone explaining to me what soft limit and safe word is. I just wanted crazy kink you know?

I am not sure if I want to move on with the series. On one hand the ending kind of disappointed me because it was just so random, but then the overall plot and idea is interesting. I think the kink needs to be amp up a notch and there needs to be more development of characters for me to move forward. The steam is there, but it’s just so light and fluffy despite the dark theme.

Interview with a Master is unique and different read that didn’t hit all marks, but was enjoyable to read regardless.

Holy crap. Holy crap. Holy crap.... That's my reaction after reading this AMAZING book by

"Husbands and lovers need to make the woman in their life feel conquered" -Jonah Noble

This entire novel is set up with freelance journalist Leticia interviewing BDSM Master Jonah Noble about his lifestyle. We don't know why he's set up this interview on his very personal life, nor do we know much about him. It's what he reveals in the interview that transforms our opinion of the BDSM lifestyle and our opinions of Jonah.

" 'Over the months that followed we learned about the lifestyle together. I guess you would call it "on-the-job" training.' I smiled to myself. I liked that line. I'd have to remember it." -Jonah Noble

Jonah is a gosh darn mystery that every woman wants to explore. This is one of the best books I've ever read. It's coming to us from a man who isn't an expert on the topic but someone who has encountered it in their lifetime. I don't think I've ever read anything that has summed up what women want from a relationship and a BDSM one at that.

"Every woman who is aroused by submission is also aroused by an alpha male who can tame her. These women aren’t looking for a husband in the bedroom who will make them feel safe and loved. [...] These women are looking for a man who is strong enough to conquer them. That way the woman can still feel vibrant and independent but also feel comfortable submitting to their lover. That’s the turn-on for women. They don’t want to be submissives they want to feel like they can’t resist submitting." -Jonah Noble

I think what I really loved about this book was that not only is the reader getting a behind the scenes of Jonah's past, but we witnessed to romance between Leticia and Jonah.

Overall, I think this is going to be a powerful book for relationships. Couples need to read these books to understand the dynamic of what they could pursue together. I'm giving this read 5 STARS out of 5 STARS because this book is an example of genius literature. This is what women and men should be reading.

Fingers crossed there will be a second book... please!!

Wow.

I waited for hours after Jason posted that he had 'pushed the button' for it to be released with dozens of other anticipating fans on Facebook. We had a great time, speculating, gossiping, building (I think) friendships. And then I got the email. I literally squealed, making my 7-year-old ask why I just squeaked like a mouse. :)

So, I started reading it. And it was awesome. And then, about 2/3 of the way through, I started getting depressed. I was mentally blogging about how the book was making me feel. Thinking it was a dangerous book to read because it made me long for something that I doubt would ever happen in real life. Yes, I know it's fiction, but there's that element of wanting a Master...And because of things I've done in my past, I don't know if I could ever be that 'type of woman.' A woman that would thrive under a Master, at least not in the way I would want to. (But that's a whole other story.) But that's not Jason's fault...that's all me, and, like I said, his book was amazing...fantastic...everything I hoped and more.

Jonah Noble is everything that the ARC reviewers said he was. Everything the teasers my online friends made up. He was...amazing. Sexy, rough, arrogant (in a good way). And then there was the question that he wouldn't answer and it knocked my depression right out of me. I was literally stunned. I stared at my Kindle, hands shaking and disbelief flooding my brain.

I don't cry. I hate crying. Hate! It! I avoid movies and books that make me cry. And tears ran down my cheeks as I read the last few pages of the book. Not a lot. I didn't bawl. I didn't sob. Just a few big, fat tears rolling down my cheeks. Even now, I'm shaking from the emotion that coursed through my body from the ending.

I am completely...satisfied doesn't touch how I feel... Satiated is the word. I am completely satiated with this book; like after a great round of sex that touches your mind, soul and spirit. It was a fantastic, amazing, beautiful few hours that I spent getting to know Jonah Noble.

This is so much more than a BDSM book. Jason/Jonah 'gets'...understands... women...at least, women like me. Everything he said, at least in my mind, is true. (I'm sending this over to my hubby's Kindle as soon as I finish writing this. lol.)

What more can I say? My mind is still reeling from the ending...

Wow.

4 Stars.

“The Jonah Noble Big Book Of Rules certainly contains quite a few pearls of wisdom, they are all enlightening in their own way, and extremely well thought out.

BDSM is about two people, trying to discover what makes them happy in life what gives them a sense of belonging and completion.

Interview with a Master is a work of fiction based a little on fact, that features BDSM. I wouldn’t say it is a book about BDSM in the traditional sense. You will understand what I mean when you read it. I will say that in reading the book and being able to appreciate it fully you will firstly need to forget everything you have ever read before about the subject (I did anyway), and go into it with an open mind.

Jonah “BDSM isn’t the solution to every relationship in trouble, it’s not the answer for every lonely girl looking for love, and it’s not about charming doms and beautiful breathless subs.

You will not find massive long paragraphs of inner monologue, or lots of swinging from one emotional minefield to the next, there are no inner goddesses or red rooms of pain. This is a book about a man, written by a man, and the language and writing style highlight these things beautifully. It is a pretty frank, and at points quite blunt and very on point monologue, but that is what makes it so special. Flowery language and overly descriptive text would not have worked for this book, Jonah Noble is a pretty eloquent and candid, get to the point kind of guy, and Jason Luke has used language that portrays him perfectly that way. What makes it even more appealing though are the moments of sheer comedy that he has managed to thread into the story

Jonah “The BDSM lifestyle is like…seafood,”…”And seafood comes in a hundred different forms.

I never thought I would see BDSM and seafood used in the same sentence together!

But for all of the straightforwardness of the writing Jason Luke has also managed to add a lot of beautifully put together paragraphs, the language used is vital and offers total clarity as to what Jonah is trying to impart to Leticia for the writing of her article.

Leticia “Define Sexy.

Jonah “I don’t have a definition, not do I have specific parameters. It is not any one thing about a woman that makes her sexy in my eyes; it’s a collection of things an intoxicating fusion of the obvious and the subtle that merge together.

What begins as a series of interviews between an intern looking to become a fully fledged reporter and a known Master, develops as the time they spend together increases, and I found myself holding my breath at points waiting to see what would happen next or where Jason would take the story.

I narrowed my eyes and came up out of the chair with slow menace. I prowled across the room, drawing out the silence, moving in the dull gloom like I was hunting prey.

But this is on no way your standard boy meets girl or man meets woman tale. It is more, it is deeper and the relationship feels more realistic because of it. The only thing I am totally bummed about. the fact I need more of Jonah Noble and his unforgettable charm in my life. We are left at a bit of a cliffhanger, and I really would love to see where Jason intends on taking Jonah and Leticia’s tale next, there is certainly a whole wealth of options in my opinion.

I wouldn’t define this book as BDSM Erotica, it is broader than that and to be honest if you enjoy a good story, with well written characters, some sexy times and a bit of humor thrown in, I don’t think you will go wrong with Interview with a Master.

ARC kindly provided by the author in exchange for the above honest review. I look forward to reading whatever Mr. Luke has in store for us in the future as this is a pretty special debut in my humble opinion!
