When all Hell breaks loose upon you, hunt ghosts with style, heed the warnings, love as it will be your last time and do it Dex' style.... Unapologizing and passionately INSANE!

The creepiest and scariest installment in the highly acclaimed Experiment in Terror series, forced me to stop reading to look behind my shoulder, keep the lights on at night, swoon at the Dexiness that oozes from a certain male, crush on a girl (yeah Perry, I am talking about you!) and just gawk at that ending... OMG this ENDING!!!

+5 CREEPY,SEXY,AMAZING STARS

There are not enough stars for this book it was PERFECTION!!! If I could I would give it more stars!!! I thought that Dead Sky Morning and Lying Season were scary but when I finished this book I can say that this is the scariest one of all!!!

In this book Perry, Dex and their new member Rebecca who is their producer have to go to Oregon to a school for artistically gifted children. The school was a sanatorium for children who had TB.Noone has been left from the hospital alive.. This school is haunted....
They have to deal with the ghosts of dead kids and a creature that is haunting the place the building.

description

OMG I finished it and I'm not sure I can sleep!! It was really creepy!!

Dex and Perry are back and better than ever!! After all they've gone through, they deserve to be together.Their relationship takes a very serious turn in this book, and the sexiness is still there, it's hotter and there is more passion than ever!!!

description

"Perry,I love you,"
"I'm here.I'm staying here, by your side. This is more than just two people shacking up together. This is so much more."
"Because you're my girl. You're my woman. You're my partner. You're my lover."
"I'm just...I'm your fucking man, baby. That's all there is to it, I'm your fucking man. That is never going to change."

description

OMG *sigh* I'm a big fan of Dex! I love him!I like his humor and how sexy he is! He owns my heart FOR EVER!! We see a new side of Dex, in this book you feel how much he loves Perry in his protectiveness. And what can I say about the sexy times?
GOD!! !Why can't, there be a real Dex for me?? Please Santa Claus can I have a Dex for Christmas????
Perry omg she is amazing!I don't thing there is another heroine that I love so much!! I can say that I have a girl crush on Perry :)))! Finally she starts believing in herself more! She has grown up, now she is independent and can manage her parents.
I like Rebecca too!! She is such a lovable character. I liked her from the previous book!

And the ending WOW Karina for one more time she left me speechless!! I can't wait for Dust to Dust!!!

Another enjoyable installment, although I didn’t love as much as some of the others. But hey, we all have our faves in this series!

I’ll keep this short since I was late to the party. I realize most EiT fans may consider this book old news by now.

What I loved : The setting and unique storyline. KH excels and pulls out all the stops when it comes to constructing an original plot. Here, Dex and Perry head back to Oregon to visit a haunted school, where they take on the restless ghosts of children who died from TB back when the place was used as a sanitarium. As always, the creep-factor was in full effect, as was some edge-of-your-seat suspense.

The way the plot unraveled was unique and I really enjoyed the behind the scenes events and the twisted history the sanitarium presented.

The romance between Dex and Perry was sweetened and more intense than ever. We see an almost sappy side of Dex, but for those who prefer his tough-guy, wise-ass, perverted persona—no worries—that all remains fully intact.

The wrap up involving the ghostly-side of things was a bit Scooby doo-ish Dex certainly made a comically accurate comparison there. But it was actually an interesting way to change things up a bit. I do wish there were a little more focus towards the end where the children were concerned. I feel like that aspect was a bit glossed over and left me wondering what exactly became of the situation. But the twist was unique to the other books in the series, introducing a new direction for Dex and Perry as a team, not just a couple.

The cliffhanger was fairly mild, in my opinion. But it definitely set the foundation for an interesting finale. And for those who’ve read this one

Book Stats:
 Genre/Category: Paranormal Romance
 Steam Caliber: High
Romance: Intense and sweet. Little less agnst.
 Characters: Well fleshed-out and lovable.
Plot: Dex and Perry head to a haunted school that was once a sanitarium for those dying of tuberculosis.
 Writing: Fluid and intense.
 POV: 1st Person: Heroine
Cliffhanger: Mild. Set up nicely for finale.
Next Installment: Follow up. Last book of series.

5 Completely Awesome and Scary Stars!!!

This 8th book (and the previous book to the last one) take us back to the same place as the beginning, where Perry and Dex met each other and to a haunted art school for kids, which used to be a hospital for children with tuberculosis.

description

But as everything around them just because hundreds of people died there, that doesn’t mean they’ve left.
On the opposite, they are still there, very present and very angry.

description

As they start to find out more about the former hospital and the truth about those children's death, the things that don’t want to truth to come out get restless and start seeking revenge. And well, that is when things get rough. (Or rougher.)

description

At the same time Perry’s dreams are getting more scaring and real, Pippa is appearing more, with strange warnings that things are getting harder on the other side, that something very bad is about to happen and Perry has to be prepared for it.
Except she doesn’t know in what to believe anymore and feels like she’s losing her mind.

description

Luckily Dex (Did I already told you that I LOVE him??) is there with her, their relationship getting more serious each day and they start to make decisions that will change completely the course of their lives.
A lot of things will happen, people will appear and the end leaves everything open for the end of this awesome series.
I can’t wait for the next book!!! :D (Literally. I find myself having mini-anxiety attacks thinking about what will happen next.)

Ashes to Ashes was everything I was hoping for and some more! This next-to-last Experiment in Terror book is perfect mixture of funny banters, swooning moments, steamy scenes and extremely creepy situations! EIT fans most definitely won’t be disappointed.

Since I really missed Perry’s thoughts, I was eager to be back to her POV in this book. In Ashes to Ashes, everyone from Perry’s family is back in picture. Even Pippa and her creepy warnings that does not really make sense. Readers will witness plenty of personal confrontations as well as some serious discussions. But most of all, you are all going to be completely freaked out!

I admit, I was scared out of my mind reading this book. Dark haunted places with not so friendly ghosts can do that to you. I had goosebumps on various occasions and I will be avoiding dark vacated placed for a very long time after reading this book. Ashes to Ashes has without the doubt secured the title of the most scariest book of whole series to the date!

Once again, Karina Halle managed to hold my attention from the beginning to the end. Noone can bring up so many emotions the way Karina does with her writing. She kept the tension and excitement without creating forced drama - I have to applaud her for that. Moreover, her ability to include memorable and funny outliners in the most unexpected (yet fitting) situations is astonishing!

And the best thing about this book? Dex is still his charming-crude-sarcastic self. It’s amazing that even in the scariest situations, he is always able to make me laugh. I am so glad that author is keeping him the same. I just love him this way!

A lot of was resolved in this book, some things have been set into the motion and it is clear that series is slowly wrapping up. Believe me when I say that I am already psyched for final instalment of this superb series!

My Thoughts:

Dex and Perry and...Rebecca are off on another 'adventure' for the show. This time heading to Oregon for an old sanitarium that's been converted into a school.

Dex is sooo...super romantic! ~sigh~ I just LOVED it!

And Perry really loves it. Lucky girl.

But I like how their relationship is growing and moving forward. Dex is up to something and it wasn't hard to figure out but I just keep saying, no, no, no... not there!! But you know Dex, he never listens!

Of course, the sex is hot especially when Dex pulls you "under into waves of honey". ;)

How about the new sexy dog sitter? Fat Rabbit is really lucky...and so is Ana!

description

So let's talk about the ghosts, shall we? They are the creepiest ever! OMG...I don't know how they could stand to be there much less stay the night!

description

And wow...some interesting "changes" with Rebecca. I never saw that coming and can't wait to see where things go! I'm still not sure why the "secret" with her and Dex had to come out though. :(

What an ending! But why at her house? Again, I didn't see that coming! I didn't think it was that bad though especially because I was warned there was a cliffhanger. I was expecting something really horrible to happen. And who knows? Maybe it did. You can never trust KH!! ;) I'm both excited and nervous about May when Dust to Dust comes out!

Since it appears I'm one of the last people on earth to read this book I won't attempt to write what this particular is about book except to say...I LOVE EIT!

The lowdown about EIT:

★Dex and Perry are the main characters in the series.

★They work as team filming supernatural occurrences for their webcast.

★It is a continuing story so it must be read in order.

★Some EITs are scarier than others.

★If read in the dark the stories are much creepier.

★It's paranormal. Yes, there is romance in it too.

★Dex's tagline is~ Ride the mustache

★The cliffhangers in this series add to the excitement you feel waiting for the next book. Luckily for those starting this series the final book comes out July 29th.

★READ THESE BOOKS!!!

When I started ASHES TO ASHES I had no clue it would take place right by where I was taking my teen son to work for the summer. Sunday we drove to a town right outside of Tillamook. As we were driving home I began reading this book and got a little nervous thinking of him being gone all summer and being right where Karina Halle made this story come alive. Being a true teen boy he has yet to call me. Hopefully no creepy kids show up at the camp he's working at.

One final note. Holy moly that cliffhanger has me counting down the days.

*** 5+++ "I freakin love this series" kind of stars**

"...are you prepared for, you know...the children of the damned?
Toddlers from hell?
Art kids without Ritalin? "

Nope, I wasn't prepared at all!
This one was one of the scariest in the whole series and that's saying it a lot.
Ghost kids, a haunted school , a constant fog that creeps into your soul and a dark feeling they can't shake off.
So yes, this one put creepy and scary in a whole new level. I was terrified!

I'm not joking! I kept yelling "You fools, don't go in there!". The whole atmosphere and the story behind the school will haunt you and keep you on the edge of your couch. That impending sense of doom, that in any moment the whole world will start crumbling down!
And like the masochist reader that I am, I loved every second of it!
Besides that, it also give us more passionate and emotional moments between our favorite couple.
You'll fall head over heels with Derry all over again!

“What we have it consumes me. It devours me.
And it scares me more than anything we have ever encountered,
because if I ever lost you, if I ever had to live without you, I wouldn't be whole.
You, Perry, have my heart.
You are my heart.

And when I say passionate, I mean lava hot , panties dropping and ovaries exploding!

"It’s us against the world.

*sigh*

Truly their connection is just a beauty to behold. Oh they can be insane but their devotion to each other? That deep soul connection? Is it something we all aim to achieve.
They're a team, they understand each other when no one else does. Just meant to each other.

*

I can't recommend this series enough, it's BRILLIANT!
It just keeps getting better and better. Just AMAZING!

And that ending?

*speechless*

And now the countdown to Dust to Dust begins ;)

5 Full Circle Stars!

What It Is About
Dex, Perry, and Rebecca film an Experiment in Terror episode at a haunted school located in a building that used to be the Sea Crest Sanatorium. The sanatorium is basically a hospital where terminally ill children with tuberculosis were sent until they died. The school is supposedly haunted by the children who died there and is located very close to Perry's uncle Al.

My Thoughts
Ashes to Ashes completely took my breath away! I was on the edge of my seat, was seriously freaked out at times, my heart was racing, I was swooning over Dex (shocker, I know), and I was rooting/hoping/praying for the EIT team throughout horrific stuff they experienced during this mission.

There are so many aspects of this book that would make it one of my favorites in the series. First off, the paranormal activity was downright terrifying at times! I would definitely classify this book as one of the scariest in the series for me personally. You definitely won't want to turn the lights out or go explore any haunted schools after finishing.

Another aspect I thoroughly enjoyed was that Karina Halle threw in twists and revealed secrets that I never saw coming! This kept me guessing and turning pages because I absolutely couldn't wait to find out what happens next!

Thirdly, and probably one of the biggest reasons that I love this series, is the characters! Dex and Perry were stronger than ever in Ashes to Ashes and I really enjoyed watching their relationship grow. Both of them are considering what the future holds for them as a couple and are working through any insecurities that they might have regarding their relationship.

"I can tell you that I'm head over heels in love with you. That this..." He paused and breathed in deeply, his eyes glittering. "What we have, it consumes me. It devours me. And it scares me more than anything we have ever encountered, because if I ever lost you, if I ever had to live without you, I wouldn't be whole. You, Perry, have my heart. You are my heart."

Seriously, how can you not swoon when Dex says something like that *sighs* I love that man so hard!

Rebecca was also a wonderful addition to the EIT team. I always liked her character during the previous books so it was a lot of fun getting to know more about her! Her banter with Dex and Perry was hilarious at times =) Plus, she added a certain efficiency to the way they filmed the show and kept them on track. I definitely enjoyed having her on the team more than Max (the douchecanoe)!

In closing, I just want to say that I can't recommend this series enough! When I first started, I never imagined just how much I would fall in love with the Experiment in Terror series. I remember being skeptical of the paranormal/horror genre but gave it a chance because I enjoyed Karina Halle's other books so much. Now, after reading eight novels and four novellas, I can't imagine my life without it! I am so anxious and excited for Dust to Dust! Yes, there was a cliffhanger in this book. But beyond that, I want to see where Dex and Perry's relationship is headed from here. I am probably going to cry when I finish the next and final book in this series. I don't want to let Dex and Perry go! That is how much I love Experiment in Terror by Karina Halle!

Memorable Quotes:
"Long story short-the sixty-nine position doesn't work. You both get too turned on to keep going. It is a beautiful failure."

"Touch it," he said.

I grimaced, pushing his arm away. "No. That's a dead kid's toy."

_~_~_~__~4.5 Creepy & Ghostly Stars!!_~_~~_~_~_

F@ck Yeah!!!

When you throw ghosts, demons, and children in a sanatorium, shit is bound to get crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Yeah, I was afraid of that.

Just a heads up, my review DOES NOT do this book justice. So if you are looking for a full length synopsis then you have come to the wrong place :P

Ashes to Ashes
is just as remarkable as the previous books, this book DID NOT disappoint. Some readers might be skeptical as to how a series can keep the reader interested, especially since it consists of 8 books and novella's. Some readers might be concerned that the series can be or might be drawn out or repetitious. Let me clarify any misconceptions that are associated with a long series in which the main characters are the key players through out the storyline and series. Ashes to Ashes is:
Original
Scary
Exciting
Mind boggling
Fresh
Witty
Sexy
.............And DEX.. :D

Ashes to Ashes picks up right after Come Alive. Dex, Perry and Rebecca have been assigned a new assignment in an old sanatorium. Even though the sanatorium is inhabitant by children now it doesn't decrease the paranormal activity within these walls. Little does the crew of Dex, Perry, and Rebecca is that this new assignment involves a creepy sanatorium where many children have died from tuberculosis.

This same sanatorium has been resurrected as a school for the talented gifted children of the arts program. But its when a particular child and teacher encounter malevolent apparitions that things start to become unbearable.

So when Dex, Perry, and Rebecca show up to investigate/document these accusations they quickly find out that the said rumors are true indeed.
And instead of documenting and investigating they are fighting their sanity of what is real or just an illusion.

It's anyone's guess who will make it alive or who will let the walls of this sanatorium crumble their sanity. I guess you will just have to read it and find out on your own.

Oh and just for you hardcore romantics.. This book has it in spades. Dex is even more lovable and swoon worthy in this book. He really has grown to become quite the man we can truly all love and adore. Its quite beautiful to witness their relationship come full circle.

Basically, If you want to learn more about Dex & Perry, then RUN dont Walk and start this series immediately..

What can I say - It is no surprise that I devoured this story. I mean it is Dex and Perry, what is not to love?!?! If you haven't started this series, you are seriously missing out. So just do it!

I can tell you parts of this story scared the shit out of me.I am not too embarrassed to admit, that I had to put it down for the night. I am a wimp. Yes, I am a 28 year old baby. But reading this alone, late at night...yeah.... it was not working for me. I was tempted to wake the husband up, to protect me, just so I could read more ;)

"You’re my woman. You’re my partner. You’re my lover. And if I can’t try and fucking understand you and that complex, crazy head of yours, then I’m not doing my job. Then I’m not worthy of you. I want to be worth of you, baby. I want to know how you work, how you function, how you think. I want to know you so I can be there for you and be there with you.

It wasn't all terrifying bumps in the night though, some major Dex and Perry moments went down! Swoon-worthy Dex is just a good as smart-ass Dex.

"But are you prepared for, you know...the children of the damned? Toddlers from hell?Art kids without Ritalin?"

"Well, you can always do what I do and make up a word. Like, twatwaffle."

So now I am both anxious and afraid of the next book...the final book. That ending has me twitching like a crack addict. I know it will be bittersweet, I don't want it to end.

Reread December 2020

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
I HAVE SO MUCH LOVE FOR KARINA HALLE RIGHT NOW!!!!!

Anyways, after that little mini meltdown, Ashes to Ashes was exactly the follow up book we EIT readers needed after Come Alive.

One of the best things about this book?.... It scared the ever-living sh** of out me. As in, I was reading this at night, and had to put the Kindle down because I was too scared to read it in the dark. For me, Into the Hollow and Come Alive did not have scary story-lines (sorry but bigfoot and evil voodoo just don't do it for me) but with a haunted sanatorium with ghost children? I won't be able to see swing-sets and rubber bouncing balls the same way again. I loved the addition of Rebecca to the EIT team, she added in some of the Scully the skeptic element the books had been missing.

The other best thing about this book? Dex's commitment to his relationship with Perry and making it work. Seriously, I melted when I read some of the things he said to Perry. He is in my book, forever a best book boyfriend. He also says the best inappropriate things.

One criticism

I cannot wait until the next (and sadly final) book in the series!

HOLY HELL! THAT WAS AWESOME!

I just finished this book and my heart is pounding! In terror, in happiness, in shock! It’s all happening in EIT-land!

We’re back in Perry POV, which I love! Because as much as I love Dex, I have missed Perry in all of her sarcastic awesomeness, she is a fantastic narrator, and I feel like she's really grown up a lot since the beginning of the series. She's confident and more comfortable with herself and her life, and I just love her.

“Perry Palomino, ghost magnet. I was like the highly sought after call girl of the supernatural. A whore for the unhappily deceased.

This book starts two months after the ending of and finds Dex and Perry blissfully happy and in love, and it’s a truly beautiful thing! They are together, they are secure, they are passionate as all hell, and so freaking swoony.

“All it took was to see him, to hear those words that I was his, and I was falling in love, so hard and so fast all over again.

“I’m your fucking man, baby. That’s all there is to it, I’m your fucking man. That is never going to change.

Their new assignment for Experiment in Terror has them investigating a school for artistically gifted students. The school is haunted by the evils of the past when it functioned as a sanatorium for children dying of tuberculosis. And let me tell you, Karina Halle takes the freak-out factor to a whole new level in this one. With ghosty children and bad things on the loose, this book scared the shit out of me, I kid you not! I was home alone, reading at night, and my heart was pounding so hard. I think I was actually whimpering at one point.

Thank God all is well in Derry-land so that we get some happy time, and a much needed break from all of the crazy. The romance is absolutely phenomenal! Having overcome so much to be together, Dex and Perry are committed and happy, with lots of PDA, talk of love and swoony declarations.

“What we have it consumes me. It devours me. And it scares me more than anything we have ever encountered, because if I ever lost you, if I ever had to live without you, I wouldn’t be whole. You, Perry, have my heart. You are my heart.

And the sexy time is absolutely steaming! Damn, my Dex has some incredible moves! Perry is a lucky, lucky girl!

“Long story short the sixty-nine position doesn’t work. You both get too turned on to keep going. It’s a beautiful failure.

And, of course, Dex continues to shine. He remains at his sexy, nasty best, and his commentary had me laughing out loud so many times!

He made a face. “Soy milk. Ugh. Tastes like jizz.
I gave him a curious look. “And how do you know that?
“I have bad aim sometimes

Amidst all of the spooky stuff and romance there are some massive bombs dropped! Dex, Perry and Rebecca are all facing huge changes, Pippa is back with ominous warnings, a family secret is revealed, and a blast from the past makes their presence known. And it all ends with a massive moment of epicness (which had me squeeing out loud - and I even shed a tear) before a WTF moment that had me screaming ‘YOU CAN’T FINISH IT LIKE THAT!!!!.

Holy effing duckspunk, Karina, you have totally delivered once again! This book has everything, and I cannot WAIT for the final instalment in this epic, epic series!

5 sensational stars.

A huge thank you to Karina Halle for providing an ARC for review.

"I'm Dex Foray, the only penis involved in the show."

Forget Camden, Javier and Sage. I still think Dex is best hero that Karina had created to date. He can be a douche, a neurotic or a romantic. We love him just the same. This time we're back with Perry's POV, oh how I miss the girl. This time our favorite ghost hunting duo had Rebecca breathing down their neck as their show's new producer. The trio new assignment sent them back to Oregon, the place where Dex and Perry first met each other. The Sea Crest Sanatorium was rumored to be haunted by tuberculosis patients that were quarantined in the hospital with a false promise of cure.

Dex was once again fantastic in his douchey ways, but now he add 'best boyfriend' in his list of repertoire. The way he 'behave' in front of Perry's family and Uncle Al was Aww... moment. His POV in Come Alive was freaking hilarious, but I miss seeing him from Perry's POV. As usual, his dirty mouth and crude comments are to die for,

"I'm your fucking man. That is never going to change. And now I'm going to fuck you till we embarrass ourselves."

I can't help but notice they kept reminiscing about the days when he first met Perry and their subsequent shenanigans. When it was pointed out that they only knew each other for eight months, I had the same reaction as Perry. I felt like I knew them for years, even though I only started reading EIT this year.

I turned into a mushy pile of goo every time Dex called Perry,

"Hey, kiddo."

Remember the ending in Come Alive? Dex keep finding the right moment and every time someone interrupted him, I was like "Urg!! Get lost".

In the last book I kept questioning whether did Perry still love Dex like she used to be after all the heartache and drama that she'd endured. I guess this book reaffirm us that Perry really do loves him and their relationship is as strong as ever.

"You... make me feel sane in this crazy world. You give me hope. You give me life. When I'm with you... I can't even believe I'm with you. It's like that every morning. Like I'm dreaming, but I'm not."

Many said the horror this time was the creepiest, but I don't know why I'm not that bother by it. I still think 'On Demon Wings' was the scariest. Is all kind of sad that the next book we will be getting will be the end of EIT series.

"You're an ass."
"You love it,"
"I love you, stupid. Ass or not."

Wow what a way to end this book! Dex and Perry have gone full circle and are back to where they first met now filming at a haunted school.

I miss Dex's POV but Perry's POV is just as good. Their chemistry together is mind blowing but I wanted more more more!!!

You, Perry, have my heart. You are my heart

Karina Halle style there's the creepy investigating of the haunted school, Sexy Dexy time, swooning moments and a few storylines left hanging to lead us to the ultimate epic finale. I know its going to be amazing already. Come on Dust to Dust!!!

And for my Goodread friends who have yet to meet my all time favourite book boyfriend:

I'm Dex Foray, the only penis involved in the show

Even better the second time!

5 Stars!

Yes! ... Noooooo ... what the ... holy crap ... I loved it!!!

What we have, it consumes me. It devours me. It scares me more than anything we have ever encountered, because if I ever lost you, if I ever had to live without you, I wouldn't be whole. You, Perry, have my heart. You are my heart.

Oh, Dex!

One of the best EIT books yet (and there's only one more *cry!). And one of my favorite books of the year. Karina Halle never fails to amaze me with her ability to invoke terror in one moment & then tears of joy just a few short paragraphs later.

There was no shortage of spooky. Creepy ghost kids - need I say more? But there was also a ton of character growth and relationship building. Rebecca broke my heart in this one! The dynamic duo of Perry & Dex continue to amaze me and make me feel all warm & fuzzy inside :) Oh yeah, let's not forget about the unbelievably steamy sex! Hot! Yeah, really HOT!

Loved, loved, loved it!

♥♥ 5++ AWESOME AND CREEPY STARS ♥♥

OH MY GOD!!! THAT ENDING!! I AM STUNNED AND I WANT MORE SO BAD!! I LOVED IT!! AND I LOVE DEX SO HARD... OR IN ANY STATE REALLY, HA!!

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

"It was a fucking trip to think how full circle this could be, to go from running into him in the lighthouse and staring at his face for the first time to sitting beside him in our apartment, his arm around me, in love. Did I even realize at the time what this strange man would become to me? Everything.

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

Ashes to Ashes takes place two months after the previous book. Things are going well for Experiment In Terror and for Dex and Perry, but they are still trying to figure things out with Rebecca now a part of the crew. Their next location in Oregon, the place where Perry and Dex first met, seems to be one that will produce the best episode yet. They are to investigate a supposedly haunted school, that use to be a sanitarium. Ever since a new teacher has arrived, the activity has seemed to spike. Now they are to find out why these sick children are there, and why they seem to not want them to go.

When they investigate, it seems that a little girl is the one who is spooking everyone there. She is the one who doesn't seem to be friendly like some of the children that still exist in the school. And she also seems to not like Perry very much.

This book scared the crap out of me. Especially this little girl with her beast on a leash. *shudders* When the teacher was telling the story of this creepy little girl who apparently remains in the upper floors, I got chills. I had freaking goosebumps. It was SO freaking creepy. But it also was so intriguing. I needed to continue and find out what would happen next.

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

"You...make me feel sane in this crazy world. You give me hope. You give me life. When I'm with you...I can't believe I'm with you. It's like that every morning. Like I'm dreaming, but I'm not (...) you're the most important thing to me. You keep me grounded, you hold me in place, you make me feel real. I love you, Dex. I hope this lets you know that."

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

Right from the start, I knew I would not be able to put this down and I was right. I was hooked. I had missed Perry and Sexy Dexy so damn much. I missed their sense of humour and hilarious banter. And of course I missed Dex's dirty mouth, which he provided plenty of so I wasn't disappointed. I mean the things that came out of this crazy man's mouth, I couldn't help but laugh out loud. Like "duckspunk" as a swear word. I loved every single moment these two shared. Their chemistry is just so addicting. Karina does an amazing job at making you feel the connection between these two.

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

"I can tell you that I'm head over heels in love with you. That this...What we have, it consumes me. It devours me. And it scares me more than anything we have ever encountered, because if I ever lost you, if I ever had to live without you, I wouldn't be whole. You, Perry, have my heart. You are my heart.

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

I was swooning so hard for Dex. I never though he could be so friggin romantic. He really melted me. I wanted to hug him so bad. I probably would have stolen him from Perry. They were so adorable together. And boy, did they share many passionate moments. It was really awesome to read how much they loved each other. I LOVED PERRY!! I LOVED DEX!! I LOVE THEM TOGETHER!!! I just LOVED it SO much!!

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

"He loves me for who I am, no matter what I look like, what I do, how I act. He loves me and he understands me, and whatever he doesn't understand, he tries damn hard to (...) you can disapprove all you want, but I really don't give a shit anymore. I'm done trying to please you, to make you love me, to make you proud of me. I don't need any of that anymore because that man over there gives that to me and he gives it freely."

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

I don't want to give much of the story away. It's better if you just read it. But, it was definitely really scary, probably freaked me out the most than the previous books. It was a page turner for me, and it sucked when people would interrupt me from reading this. There were some sweet moments, and some really hot steamy moments. Like I have said of each book that comes out from this series, it justs keeps getting better with each book. I loved the characters so much. The ending was crazy!! I was not expecting it to end like that. I don't know if I hate or love Karina Halle for that cliffhanger ending. I WANT MORE!! I LOVED this book so much, even with that ending. I CAN'T wait to read the next book. I recommend you give this book a try. And seriously, if you haven't started this series yet, Go Freaking Read It Now!! It's amazing!

Amazeballs!

*No spoilers*

I was one of the lucky ones who got an ARC, and it didn't disappoint one bit. This is my favorite of the series. Halle stepped up a notch with this one.
In this episode Perry and Dex went to investigate a creepy sanatorium. I had a blast reading it, not only because it was scary, funny and sexy, but because I actually have been in one, when I was little. And let me tell you, it is a scary place to be, even without the ghosts :-D.

The funny thing was that even in the scariest place, Dex and Perry always managed to find time to get down and dirty. IN A FECKING GHOST FILLED SANATORIUM!!

At first, I wasn't sure how I felt about the third person joining their crew. But they screwed up enough times that it was needed for someone to keep an eye on them, keep them on track and focused :).

Some interesting things came to light during this story. I didn't see it coming, but it didn't surprised me one bit. Dex, you dog!!!

Reading the book, I got the feeling that Karina is trying to round up the series, because there were left even fewer unanswered questions after I finished. It made me a little sad. I had a slow, and somewhat rocky, start with the series, but powered through and came to love them.
I was surprised though, that the most important question, that I had after the previous book, wasn't answered in this one. You know, that whole conversation between Maximus and Dex, where they decided to keep it hush-hush. I wonder if Karine will use that in the grand finale, whenever that might be. Because it is a freaking big deal, it must be talked about and figured out at some point :-S.

Oh, and hello to the dog sitter!!!! :-D *waves* to the lovely A** R*** ;-). I can't tell you how jealous I am that you got to watch Dex's dog and not me. Now tell me, did you go through their drawers? I know you did. What did you find? Tell me, I won't tell anyone ;-).

Loved it. I was thoroughly entertained. Now off to wait for the next one.

It's time. MHUAHAHAHA!

Title: Ashes To Ashes
Series: Experiment in Terror #8
Author: Karina Halle
Release Date: December 11 2013
Rating: 5 stars
Cliffhanger: Yes
HEA:

Ashes To Ashes was everything I hoped for and even a little bit more. I immensely enjoyed this spectacular installment of one of my favorite series ever. As always, I did get a great dose of humor, romance, sex and fear, everything that Karina Halle is the goddess of. I loved this part of the story, and I can’t believe there is only one installment left. My heart will literally fall apart when I reach the ending of Perry and Dex’s story.

Experiment in Terror is stunning, overwhelming ride full of twists and turns, and Ashes To Ashes is the best example of just that. Not only did I get a great glimpse into Dex and Perry relationship, that despite obstacles and critic opinion develops, but I also was able to get a shot of pure adrenaline, horror and fantastic scary plot that literally froze the blood in my veins.

"You, Perry, have my heart. You are my heart"

Dex and Perry are my favorite couple. Together they are like Bonny and Clyde, Cinderella and Prince Charming, Romeo and Juliet. They are just wow.

I don’t want to giveaway to much of the story, so I won’t be telling you, what was going on. EIT is a fantastic reading experience and Ashes To Ashes is one of the best and most scary parts of it. After finishing I was left speechless. I wanted, no I craved more. I can’t wait for the spectacular grand finale, Dust To Dust, that will absolutely destroy me.

When you see "Karina Halle" and "EIT" you should already know the book is going to be 5 stars. Ashes to Ashes falls right in line with that thinking. It. Was. INCREDIBLE!! And of course, 5 STARS!!!

You know the journey that has been Dex & Perry…the tension, the friendship, and the issues the supernatural have brought into their relationship, along with the closeness the same beings brought into their lives through the form of the EIT show. It's been such a tumultuous, exuberant and intense ride. Seeing Dex and Perry truly happy in life and in their element together in Ashes to Ashes was amazing. And let's not forget about the pure creep factor of the expedition they go on. This book is the perfect mix of everything an EIT fan wants, dreams and hopes for in this series, before spiraling down to the very end in Dust to Dust.

Dex and Perry are living together, they're happy and both completely in love. They've never been more committed to each other as they start to dissect the future and what possibilities that brings for their relationship and the show. With Rebecca on board as their new production manager, they are thrown into both a terrifying and exciting situation. They travel to Sea Crest Sanitarium, formerly a hospital for children with TB and now a school for gifted children, to investigate hauntings and occurrences that have been taking place.

"We're going back to the beginning, baby," he said, wagging his brows. "Only there's no lighthouse this time. As shit-your-pants scary as that Old Roddy fucker was, we've got a school of dead children. But we can handle it. And if we can't, well that's what Jack Daniels is for."

Along the way they stop off to revisit the past that brought them to where they are, including Perry's Uncle Al who lives near the lighthouse where her and Dex first met. Though their past has seemed like a long ride, Perry realizes through her Uncle, that her and Dex have truly only known each other for 8 months…a fact that begins to place a small seed of doubt in her head.

"Was that true? I'd only met Dex eight months ago? It felt like I'd known him for years, ages, eternity. After everything we'd been through…every episode, every experience, it fused our souls together, time be damned."

After arriving at Sea Crest, the trio begin to delve into the secrets of the school, and what really happened to the children years ago who lived and died there.

After that, what happens at the sanitarium is both horrifying and beautiful. From there on out, there are major growths made from revealed secrets that change their lives forever. You will NOT see these revelations/situations coming and your heart will be racing with fervor when you experience the highs and lows along with Dex & Perry.

This was by far, one of the scariest EIT books. I had trouble sleeping at night and was paranoid even while reading it during the day. It pulls you in so much that you can almost feel the ghosts touching you. I often saw things that weren't really there as well. Be prepared..it's awesome to experience such a high from getting scared by a really good book.

"It was upside down, crawling on the ceiling, long arms stretching out in front of it and coming straight for us. The weird crackling, skittering sound filled my ears as its razor-lined mouth snapped open and shut."

Dex truly shines and although he never loses his smart ass, sarcastic side, he exposes to Perry such a deep part of his soul that really rounds him out as her perfect match. Dex has always been and will always be my #1 book boyfriend. You just simply cannot top this man, and not because he's perfect, but because he's SO REAL. Dex embodies all all the frustrating and beautiful qualities in a man and he doesn't disappoint in A2A. He's so devoted and there for the long haul while still maintaining who he has always been at his core.

"Yes. Sorry. I'm okay, I'm just…I'm your fucking man, baby. That's all there is to it, I'm your fucking man. That is never going to change."

It felt like being back home, being in Perry's head again, and I can say for a fact that she's grown immensely. Although she still has her insecurities, she has excelled in dealing with them and has realized what's truly real in her life; Dex's love and feelings for her, bone deep. I was floored at how she handled a certain situation that involved Rebecca. Perry doubts herself and her relationship with Dex much less and she's stronger in both areas because of it.

"I just…I wanted you to know that. I know I can seem…distant sometimes. I know I'm always in my head and sometimes I'm just a little too quiet. But you're the most important thing to me. You keep me grounded, you hold me in place, you make me feel real. I love you Dex. I hope this lets you know that."

Ashes to Ashes was both terrifying and brilliant. It scared me OUT OF MY MIND and I loved it. I got to witness Derry's wonderful, blooming relationship as well as the honesty and depth of their feelings exposed and laid bare to each other. And let's just say that the set up for what's to happen in the final book is thrilling!

Karina keeps writing books that top the previous and so far, Ashes to Ashes is one of my favorites of the series. She perfectly perfects the balance between paranormal and romance and leaves you in a book hangover that lasts until you can get your hands on the next one!

PS-Shawna will forever haunt my nightmares.

Review
In a way, this was a very sad read for me ----- this is because “Ashes to Ashes is the next to last book of the EIT series. Over the years, I have grown to absolutely LOVE Dex and Perry and it will be a very sad day when we must say good-bye to them. We have been through so much with these two that I feel they are a part of my heart and life. It is very seldom that I connect so deeply with characters in a book but Karina has achieved this with her series EIT!

I think this may be that it wasn’t an instant love affair with these two they had to go through so many obstacles and tragedies in order to find love at the end of the tunnel. They aren’t a “Hollywood couple but they are real they could be me or you Perry deals with self-esteem problems because of her weight and Dex deals with the denial of his powers while medicating himself. This couple finally deserves the HEA that they start to experience in this book, but with any normal relationship they must struggle to continue to achieve it.

“You…make me feel sane in this crazy world. You give me hope. You give me life. When I’m with you…I can’t even believe I’m with you. It’s like that every morning. Like I’m dreaming, but I’m not."

Karina Halle is one of my top authors and her writing shows this The way that she uses descriptive terms enable me to live through Dex and Perry and see EXACTLY what they are seeing. The reader will not have to struggle to picture the scene Karina is writing about her mastery of words and descriptions are magnificent. I think this is another reason why it’s possible to connect with these stories so easily.

I beg you Karina please don’t stop here I don’t know what I will do without Perry and Dex ------ or maybe???? Could it be that there may be a new series starting up with Ada? Hint Hint..*wink wink Maybe?

Re-Cap
Perry and Dex have been living together for 2 months now and life couldn’t be better for them. We start the book out with Perry getting a surprise for Dex to show how much she loves him. Things are really taking off for the couple now!

They have a new assignment back in Oregon (Perry’s hometown) not too far from Uncle Al. This time they will be investigating a school for artistic children which in the past was a sanitarium for children dying of TB. A new teacher and a student are experiencing very strange hauntings in the names of Shawna, Elliot and the beast.

“I love the fuck out of you

Before our team investigates, Perry is visited by her Pippa who warns her that there are bad things coming in the near future and Perry must protect herself and Dex.

The team, Perry, Dex and Rebecca, visit with Uncle Al and it seems that Dex has something on his mind which is making him nervous and Uncle Al furious. Perry gets the whole lecture about moving in with Dex so quickly, he is not good enough for her, she is still so mentally unstable.blah blah blah. Yeah and if that’s not enough they also get that a hundred fold at Perry’s parent’s house when they visit after the investigation.

So it’s finally off to the school and the hauntings start up almost immediately upon entering the building. “Stay on the first floor is the warning they get, but do you think our team is going to abide by the rules? HELL NO! The first chance they get…it’s off to the second floor and they are met with unbelievable sights. I’m not going to go into detail about the investigation because I could never do the story justice in my own words. I will mention this though.Perry learns something about Dex which may just be her breaking point with the relationship or may draw them closer together. There are a few other surprises waiting around the corner if you decide to read this!!

The ending? Hmmmm? We are left with some real funky happenings which open up the final book in this series. Will Pippa’s premonitions come true? What is in store for Dex and Perry? Will they get their HEA? What is going to happen with EIT?

Wrap-Up
If you haven’t read this series I urge you to give it a try! Even if you aren’t a Paranormal fan, this just isn’t about ghosts, this is a rocky road love affair with a twist.

Take Ghost Hunters and twist in a bit of Ghost Whisperer and viola!! You have Experiment in Terror <3

“What we have it consumes me. It devours me. And it scares me more than anything we have ever encountered, because if I ever lost you, if I ever had to live without you, I wouldn’t be whole. You, Perry, have my heart. You are my heart.

It's been 8 months since I've read this book, and i realized that i have not written a proper review for it. But, i have to say, this is one of the rare series where i remember the plot, characters, and everything else during the whole series, so it's not really hard for me to write this review, even 8 months after.

This was really amazing and scary as hell experience. Karina knows how to write horror and that is just amazing. I never felt scared reading the book - but Karina Halle knows how to write horror genre!

Anyway, here i am, still unable to explain or describe the awesomeness i feel whenever i read and reread this series - and, having just read the final book - i realized how much i will miss this series.

Anyway, as always, this book was full of feels for Dex, Perry and Rebecca My babies ♥♥

Also, interesting plot, amazing cast and horror atmosphere.

I enjoyed every minute i spent reading this book - and this series in general.

“When I first met you, I knew, somehow, that you were going to change my life. I just didn’t know in what way. I didn’t know that you’d make me love you. And most importantly, I didn’t know that you’d make me love me. Baby, you make me see the good in myself and the good in everything on this damn earth."

MY EXPERIMENT IN TERROR REVIEWS:

Ashes to Ashes (Experiment in Terror, #8)
Dust to Dust (Experiment in Terror, #9)

Reviews for long running series are always harder to write. I could delve into the plot and characters for you but, if you're a fan of the series this would be basic information you already have. On the other hand if you are new to the series, I could be giving away spoilers or just plain confusing you. Dilemma.

What I can discuss freely, and might appeal to both sets of readers, is the growth of the series as a whole.

At the beginning of the Experiment in Terror series, Perry is a timid, insecure and unsure of herself as a woman. She's grown so much over the series. Ashes to Ashes brought on, not a new, but a matured Perry Palamino. All the things that made me love her from the start are still there but there is more to her now. She is at the precipice of coming into her own. She's forging who she is as an adult, as a woman and as a partner. All while still sporting Doc Martin boots, metal band Tshirts and a snarky attitude. She is, still, one of my all time favorite heroines.

Perry is not the only thing or character that has evolved. Dex has done his fair share too. He's become more selfless, more caring, more understanding and someone you know without a doubt...you can rely on. He was always a little bit of all those things but he's much more now. There is more at stake for him and he knows it and it's adjusted, not changed, his reaction to things.

The scare level has also evolved. Tenfold. Ashes to Ashes is the scariest EIT book to date. Hands down.

Halle has created a special kind of terror with demons and ghost children and old tuberculosis sanatoriums. It's not a book I would have enjoyed reading at night, alone. Not remotely. Reading it in the daylight was not even enough to keep my eyes from watering with tears of fear and my hands from shaking in terror.

If you are a fan of horror and a fan of romance, no other series will hold a candle to Experiment in Terror. Halle has created an amazing cast of quirky characters and plopped them into some of the most terrifying situations you could imagine. She puts them through the gauntlet both physically and mentally and let's the reader hold on for dear life. I couldn't ask for more from an author.

ҴDz this one freaked me out. I had the creeps, big time. I actually had to stop my late night reading in bed in the dark cause I was scared I closed my iPad up and shoved it on the nightstand and shivered in fear.

This book #8 in the EIT series had a little bit of everything I have come to know and love about this couple of ghost seeing/chasing kooks.
And I can’t believe Dex and Perry have only known each other for eight months. I was starting to wonder if Ada was going to be ‘forever fifteen’ but now I know why.

I simply enjoy and relish everything Karina writes. So of course I am biased and even though this one was not a favorite read of mine- I still rate Karina’s books a five star because they are so outstanding.

The bloody chested ghost kids, ‘bad thing and Pippa delivering some cryptic depressing news had me wondering what was going to happen to Perry. Would she be able to fight off the demons? Would Dex support her? Would she have to face her family?

Dex was such a sweetheart in this book. He still had his raunchy self confident edge, but gosh he made me swoon a few times. And then this

The ending was perfection and yes book #9 does not come out for quite some time, but what a book I bet it will be, as it should for a conclusion to such a fantastic and unique series.

Farewell until May 2014! Love you guys so much!!!

Holy Hell... When is the next book out?

What did I just read? I literally just finished and my mind is reeling! Wow! My beloved Experiment in Terror series is almost over. No!!!! Thankfully, there is one more installment coming next year and an Ada Palomino spin-off series in the making, so Dex and Perry aren't gone yet.

Holy moly! Ashes to Ashes scared bejesus out of me, what with the creepy ghost children, this demonic creature crawling up walls and shit, and the freaking doppelgängers. Ashes to Ashes picks up months after Dex and Perry get back from investigating New Orleans in Come Alive. Next on their EIT agenda is investigating Sea Crest Sanatorium, now Oceanside Arts Academy, in Gary, Oregon. Currently being used as a school for gifted, artistic children, Sea Crest used to house children infected with the very contagious disease, tuberculosis.

The spooks started almost immediately in this book. Early on, Perry is having these wacky dreams (what's new) starring her grandmother, Pippa. She warns Perry that the demons on the other side are getting stronger and stronger and could come through the Thin Veil. She also tell her that no matter what Perry does these demons will keep finding her. Creepy, right? Do you remember what happened in ? Do you need a refresher? I didn't think so.
"But you're not in a good place right now. You're the strongest when you are strong and right now you are weak. You are succumbing to worry and insecurity."

"That's me, like, ninety-nine percent of the time."

"Darling, please. I wish I could offer you more than just a feeling but you have to take it to heart. Go home. Go back to Seattle. Go be with Dex and concentrate on your life there."

But Perry doesn't exactly heed her warnings. Excuse me, Perry, has Pippa steered you wrong? She's almost always right, even if she doesn't exactly articulate it in the clearest way. In any event, Perry trudges forward with the show, keeping her dreams a secret from Dex. Perry, Perry, Perry, have you learned nothing from the past?

On their way to investigate Sea Crest, Perry stops by her Uncle Al's home, the place where they first met. Awwwh, Derry comes full circle. I got nostalgic along with them when they pulled up to his house. When Dex and Perry walk in as a couple, Perry noticed Uncle Al's demeanor change. Perry's late night chat with her Uncle Al about her relationship with Dex revealed that he is not completely on the Dex Foray train. Perry leaves with seeds of doubt in her head. She has only known Dex for eight months? Is that really enough time to truly know someone? He's 9 years older than you. You're too young. Your parents don't approve. Blah. Blah Blah. Uncle Buzz Kill.

The fearless trio get to Gary, Oregon, a town filled with a whole lot of nothing. When they pull up to the school everyone can feel the darkness emanating from the school, even Rebecca. Out of the three, Rebecca is the one without the ability to see ghosts and often times acts as the skeptic among them. The fiery Brit is a great addition to the team because she fills the role of the pushy producer perfectly. Before Rebecca, Dex had that role, placing Perry in front of the camera and right in front of the danger (though, he always kept her safe). Now, his primary goal is keeping Perry safe at the expense of filming a crappy show. Whereas, Rebecca is willing to push Perry a little bit to get the shot.

Sea Crest was a four story living and breathing monster and the gang was going right into the heart of it. Honestly, with the amount of paranormal activity there combined with the condition of the second through fourth floors, I'm surprised it was transformed into a school. At the school, the gang meets Ainsley Davenport, the principal of Oceanside and a rather surly individual. She introduces them to Brenna McIntosh, one of the school's art teachers. Brenna has witnessed a lot of terrifying things at Sea Crest. One of the most chilling parts of Ashes to Ashes for me as a reader was reading about what Brenna saw. When I get scared, my eyes tend to water (weird reaction, I know). And I can tell you that my eyes were watering as she told the Perry, Dex, and Rebecca about what Jody, one of her students, saw. Sidenote: Halle, don't think I didn't notice the girl's name. Jodie was the name of the demonic pig-like creature from the Amityville Horror. *shudders*
"This place is like its own entity. I swear if you listen hard enough, you can hear the walls breathing."

Brenna filled the former art teacher's position. Jody told Brenna that her someone named "Shawna" had made the teacher leave. Jody also spoke of a little boy named Elliot. Brenna chalked up Jody's stories as imagination and imaginary friends. She soon found out that these stories were very real. Jody feared Shawna. Then Jody fell ill with tuberculosis-like symptoms. Freaky! Then Brenna explained that Shawna had been hanging around this bad thing .
"And when I asked Jody if [the bad thing] was still on the second floor, she said it was already here. She said it was standing behind me."

The three amigos got a big dose of all of these ghosts very soon. As usual, the gang begins to explore Sea Crest and creepy things begin to happen. A rubber ball rolled into the room and they heard a child giggling. Davenport restricted them to the first floor and set up motion-detectors that alerted her if they ventured to other floors. Dex, the resident rule-breaker, decides that it would be a great idea to use the freaking body chute as a way to get to the other floors without tipping off Davenport. And Jesus H. Macy, another mother loving ball pops out of nowhere and they hear "Ring Around the Rosie" playing faintly on a children's xylophone. Once again, the imagery Karina Halle creates is enough to make me, a 28-year old grown ass woman, scared of the dark and of every little peep in my apartment.
"He aimed the flashlight back inside in time to illuminate a lone bouncing ball roll past him and disappear into the rest of the darkness.
'Holy fucking fuck!' I screeched, my voice catching in my throat. 'No. No! Bad!'"

Let's just pause here for a little history lesson, shall we? has to be one of the creepiest nursery rhymes of all time. Its origins date back to the late 1790s when the black death was still a thing. I mean, come on, "ashes, ashes we all fall down"? Hello! That's a direct reference to cremation. Who in the hell thought this would be a cute song for adorable children to merrily sing whilst holding hands and spinning in a circle? Someone twisted, that's who.

I digress. Halle's use of that song as Dex, Perry, and Rebecca are exploring the dark and foreboding body chute was absolutely terrifying and perfect. Up to this point in the series, Dead Sky Morning was probably the scariest book for me due to the fact that Dex and Perry were isolated on D'Arcy island with malevolent Mary . However, Ashes to Ashes may just have it beat. Much like Halle did in The Devil's Reprise, there several instances where you, the reader, didn't see the source of the terror. You had to use your imagination. Though, Halle also rather vividly paints some pretty horrifying pictures where you need not use your imagination at all. Case in point, the bad thing - this demonic spider-like demon who is best friends forever with Shawna and who climbs up walls and stuff. How's that for imagery?
"'Many that have seen it believe it's a demon,' he said. 'It looks like a human but isn't. Crawls on the ceilings and walls.'
And it totally just got worse. That was what the bad thing was. A demon. A motherfucking demon."

Shawna is freaking creepy.
"I can always get my creature to get them for me. He would be better at it than I. He owes me for letting him loose."

Things more and more intense and terrifying at Sea Crest, but that doesn't stop Dex from being all swoony, protective and all around sexy. No matter what happens between them or bump in the road they come across, Dex and Perry can make it through anything. Dex will always and forever be high up on my book boyfriend list. He's crass and a not afraid to say what's on his mind. But he's also incredibly vulnerable and fragile. He puts on a lot of armor in the form of humor, but Perry completely disarms him and makes him susceptible to be hurt. When it comes to her, his emotions are bare and I love that.
"I'm your fucking man, baby. That's all there is to it, I'm your fucking man. That is never going to change."

"You're my woman. You're my partner. You're my love. And if I can't try and fucking understand you and that complex, crazy head of yours, then I'm not doing my job. Then I'm not worthy of you. I want to be worthy of you, baby. I want to know how you work, how you function, how you think. I want to know you so I can be there for you and be there with you. There's not a day that I'm not trying to discover another one of your beautiful layers.

The ending of this book was AMAZING! It left me with so many theories and ideas for what's to come in Dust to Dust. Most importantly, what is going to happen with Dex and Perry. What's going to happen to Pippa? And what in the world is "the person that shall not be named" doing here? What is that person's end game? GAH!! I am scared to find out.
"So what do I have to do with the fall of humanity?"
"You don't have anything to do with it. But maybe you will. Or someone you know will. Someone who is equally as special as you."

*I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
