Moving in with the infamous Everett Taylor was not on my bingo card. But, after my ex hit me then left me on the side of the road, I had no one else to call. Everett is bossy and moody and controlling. He’s also my ex’s hockey rival, my new very fake boyfriend. The plan is to keep me safe until my ex gets bored and leaves me alone. But when a game of spin the bottle in front of my ex turns into a full blown make out session with my new roommate? Well, let’s just say I can see why the guy can have any girl he wants. They’d be lucky too. To claim Everett. But I’m too jaded for that Aren’t I?
Kelsie is a sucker for a love story with all the feels. When she's not chasing words for her next book, you will probably find her reading or, more likely, hanging out with her husband and playing with her three kiddos who love to drive her crazy.
She adores photography, baking, her yorkie, Bob, and her devon rex, Mara. And now that she's actively pursuing her writing dreams, she's set her sights on someday finding the self-discipline to not binge-watch an entire series on Netflix in one sitting.
I’ve said it before & I’ll probably say it 100 more times, Kelsie can’t write a bad book. Every single book I’ve read by her just HITS. They’re so addicting. The type of book that you just want to binge in one sitting.
I was unsure how I felt about Everett from the previous books so I can’t say I was super excited to read his story. However, I devoured this book! I love a possessive/protective MMC and Everett was every bit of that & more. He was so good with Raine in a way that she desperately needed/deserved.
Definitely check TWs because there are heavy topics discussed!
OMG!!!! This book was absolutely incredible. I just knew Everett was going to be an absolute sweetheart and I’m so glad that Kelsie proved me right. I also related to Raine so much with this book. This was the first book in both series that hit home for me in a big way! I wasn’t sure about Raine and Everett before reading this book because they’re so different but after chapter 1, I was absolutely hooked and ready for more. Everett was so kind and patient despite not wanting to help Raine at first, probably due to his hero complex lol. It was so refreshing to see the MFC rise up and be strong despite her abusive relationship. And the way that Everett just sat by and listened to her, gave her whatever she needed, and waited for her call on things was absolutely everything. I also love how he was protective over her before they even started fake dating and then 10 times more protective when they were actually dating. This book is perfect example of how it feels being in an abusive relationship and all the conflicting feelings that come with it and I’m so impressed that she took this idea and spun it into a spectacular story. Raine and Everett just may be my new favorites. They banter off each other so well, the story was written so well, and the fact that I can feel what’s going on in the book just by reading it alone is enough for me to continue supporting this author. I absolutely recommend this book to everyone but especially my girls who feel trapped iykyk.
This is officially my favorite Kelsie book! Everette and Raine’s story is so emotional. Even though Everette is very reluctant to help out at the beginning, he is very much his father’s son. Raine is so strong even though she doesn’t see it in herself. I love the character growth in this story and of course it wouldn’t be a Kelsie book without all the fun Easter eggs!
A Little Jaded was a fast-paced, easy read that had its moments but didn’t quite hit the same emotional marks for me as the first book in the series. I really loved that first one, so maybe it's inevitable that the follow-ups feel a bit flatter by comparison, no matter how solid they are on their own.
This book tackles some heavier topics—particularly dv —which I appreciated, even if some parts didn’t always feel totally grounded. Then again, it’s worth remembering that everyone’s experience looks different, and fiction has room for a wide range of perspectives.
One moment that really gave me pause was when Everett steps in between Raine and her boyfriend early on. Without full context, that felt more reckless than heroic at first. That said, as the story progressed, his protective nature came through in a way that was both unexpected and a bit fairytale-esque. Still, I found myself warming up to him despite not being a fan of his character in earlier books, which speaks to some solid development on his part.
Kelsie Rae’s interconnected world is wild. If you’re someone who loves staying in a universe and keeping tabs on everyone long after their spotlight book is over, you’ll love that. Personally, I found it a bit overwhelming at times—so many connections, cameos, and callbacks made it hard to keep everything straight.
Overall, A Little Jaded falls squarely in the middle for me. Enjoyable and emotionally driven, but not one that will stick with me long-term.
4.5 ⭐️ This book was actually pretty amazing. I love when i read romance books that have plot. The plot was so intriguing and also can be a little nauseating because of the heavy topics discussed. i loved the characters and even the side characters introduced. I can’t wait to read the fourth book. 🙏😔
Book #3 wasn’t as good as the first two but I still highly recommend this series! It’s easy to fall in love with all the characters and after each book, you want to dive quickly into the next one. I’m a sucker for hockey romance and these don’t disappoint.
4.85⭐️ I literally could read about these characters in Kelsie Rae’s books for the rest of my life and be completely happy!!!!!!! I’m ob.SESSED! 😩
I wanted Griff and Finley’s story for this book but I love that they are getting even more of a slow burn with this book in the middle. Can’t wait to read about them next!!
Kelsie Rae hates a third act breakup so she is the MF QUEEN of writing amazing conflict while setting up quality characters who…wait for it…KNOW HOW TO COMMUNICATE! 🙇🏼♀️🙇🏼♀️🙇🏼♀️🙇🏼♀ we bow down to the queen Kelsie!
This book was so good!! Kelsie Rae doesn’t miss tbh!
Everett Taylor, the grumpy hockey player, ends up in a situation where he owes his friend some help and that help is sometimes acting like a woman’s fake boyfriend if they are in need of it. Well, in walks Raine, who needs his help very badly. She is in a horrible situation with her ex-boyfriend and needs a way out and it just so happens that Everett has to say yes.
These two go up to the cabin to get her away from any danger and the tension is high. He shouldn’t want her but maybe he does? And maybe she wants him too?
This book was so good. Kelsie’s writing never disappoints. ** please make sure you check trigger warnings before reading**
4.25/5 stars 1.5/5 spice
Tropes -fake dating -forced proximity -roommates -touch her and d!e -hockey player X tattoo apprentice
I am obsessed! I loved this book! A Little Jaded by Kelsie Rae is the 3rd book in the Little Things series. Everett and Raine's story is told beautifully.
Everett is thrown in the deep end when he starts fake-dating Raine to get her abusive ex to leave her alone. Everett's journey of understanding toxic relationships shows growth and understanding. As someone with a hero complex, he was quite blind to certain issues at the start of this book.
I enjoyed the way Raine progressed in this book. Working through her issues and her healing felt real as it progressed evenly with realistic setbacks throughout the book. I think she is a strong role model for other women in similar situations. The frog metaphor really opened my eyes.
I love seeing characters from Kelsie's previous books pop up throughout the book. It makes me want to go back and read them all again. The way Kelsie draws you in with her storytelling. The way each character has so much personality and depth. It makes them feel like real well-rounded people. The support and love they show each other is like a great big hug.
I love the game nights! It's one of the highlights of the book for me to see what games Kelsie comes up with! If anyone wants to start a game night, I'll be there!
If you're a fan of forced proximity, fake dating, touch her and die tropes, this book is definitely for you! I can not recommend Kelsie Rae's books enough!! Any new one is an automatic buy for me. A Little Jaded has it all. Tension ✔️ Angst ✔️ Laughter ✔️. As with all Kelsie's books, I couldn't put it down. If this book had a mascot, it would be a 🐸
I can't wait for Finley and Griffins' story. To see her being shown the love she deserves and for her to see what's been right in front of her.
As always, kelsie hit it out of the park! This book is absolutely amazing. Our strong and protective Everett truly shows how loving and caring he is. Raine is the strong and sassy FMC we absolutely love! Add in the chaos of Raines' situation, and it is absolutely perfection!
Hockey Romance, Found Family, Fake Dating, Physical/emotional abuse, Close proximity
Book three in The Little Things Series did not disappoint. Everett (MMC) and Raine (MFC) are perfect! I loved everything about this book. I could not put it down. (sound like a broken record) The way Kelsie piece her stories together and connect the story line and characters is amazing.
This book has put me in a reading slump and I just finished it. I don't know what Kelsie Rae puts in these books but every single book I read has been a 5 star read for me personally. I cannot wait for A Little Secret to come out in November. Don't know how I am going to be able to wait. I absolutely loved this book!
While the plot premise was great, I feel like the execution fell flat.
It’s the kind of story that should have so much tension and angst that you read it on the edge of your seat, unable to put it down.
Yet, it was mellow, kinda cozy and sweet.
They fell for each other almost without thinking about it, as if they just stumbled into it. It’s like there was nothing much between them and then suddenly, there was everything. It wasn’t even a slow burn, really. Just a tiny spark and then a full on committed relationship.
And action-wise, there wasn’t much going on either. It all felt subdued, anticlimactic and lackluster.
It wasn’t necessarily bad, just boring. Honestly, the most exciting part was the epilogue. There was more tension between Griff and Finley in that one little chapter, than there was between the main characters throughout the whole book.
When I tell you every book I read that Kelsie writes becomes my next favorite book. I mean it.
A little jaded follows Everett and Raine and I couldn’t love this couple more if I tried ❤️
I was so angry with Everett in the last book and I have done a complete 180 and I love him SO MUCH
Everett is grumpy and protective and controlling (in a good way)
Raine is like a hurricane, she comes barreling into your life and it’s crazy and chaotic and beautiful at the same time
Be aware there are triggers in this story, the story did hit very close to home for me, but I loved it all the same.. I actually think it made me love it more
If you have read the two previous series to this, then you are in for a treat, especially if you read the wrecked roommate series.. can someone say hi to Papa Milo 🥹
I will scream it from the rooftops. I need everyone to read Kelsie’s books. I will never say it enough. everything this woman writes is gold.
I received this book as an ARC. However, I still throughly enjoyed this book. It was well written and easy to follow. I liked that this book had a family connection page in the front. I found this to be helpful since this series involves characters (parents) from the Don’t Let Me Series. I also appreciate how this author writes these books as a series, but you can start anywhere in the series and not feel lost. They are all standalone books that have characters overlapping. While this book does involve domestic violence, I feel as though the author took this sensitive topic seriously, while also writing about how messed up the situations can get. I enjoyed Everett’s and Raine’s story and how quickly things came together for them. I’m looking forward to the next 2 books in this series.
Everett and Raine’s story is so touching. A guy with a hero complex and a damsel in distress. That’s just the tip of the iceberg! When they meet, Raine is in a no-win situation. Everett’s misjudgment of her situation causes them to butt heads. To fix her situation she has to pair up with captain judgy and become his fake girlfriend. When they take the time to finally get to know one another the chemistry is undeniable!! I absolutely loved this!! Will be recommending it to everyone!!
WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN?!?!??! Ev is officially my favorite guy out of all the LAU hockey players.
Everett has always been the protector of everyone around him. He accepts a job on Reeves behalf to help Raine out of her abusive relationship by being her fake boyfriend.
Shut the front door! I was on the edge of my seat during this whole book. I loved the character progression of Raine and he finally being able to be herself after Drake literally took her light away. She is so lovable and perfect for Ev. I loved this entire book series but this one- this one is just my favorite. I was so scared towards the end because of how the story was going. Might I add the final drake scene will live rent free in my head. I can’t even tell you how emotional this book made me. Happy, sad, pissed, crying, giddy. I loved it and I cannot wait for Griff and his book. I will be counting down until it’s out.
I love Everett even more! He has been on my radar in previous books, and I wanted to know his story. I was not disappointed. It takes someone with Raine’s strength to match Everett's protective nature. Raine’s story is emotional; her life is in chaos, and a storm is brewing. Although there is some reluctance, Everett complements her and changes her journey together.
A great story, filled with easter eggs as only this author can do.
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
I was one of the lucky ones who got an E-arc of this beauty! And can I first start out by saying
MISS MA’AM I don’t know how you manage to do it every time but I absolutely fell in love! Now I’m not gonna lie and say Everett was one of my favorites, I didn’t hate him but I was sold on him either. But after this book? HE IS EVERYTHING!
I absolutely devoured this book and wanted seconds! Kelsie did an amazing job with making you feel for the characters and understanding the emotions and feelings behind them. This is my second favorite in the little series so far! Everett is on my list of book boyfriends now! Seriously you need to read this book and serious it captivates you! I never wanted to stop reading. I say this time and time again Kelsie is a genius with a pen!
This book was a total 5 stars! The spice was good and let me just say 🥵 the whole book left me wishing there was more to this story! I want to be someone Storm cloud too! Now excuse me while I go do a series reread!
Protective MMC? Close proximity? Fake Dating? The angst? Take all my money. 5/5!!
Everett & Raine’s story was beautiful. Kelsie’s writing never ceases to amaze me. The dedication to the characters backstories & the way she puts everything together is always spot on. She always finds the perfect balance between making sure the characters are complex while adding in the SPICE 🌶
SPOILER:
“You’re not a victim. You were never a victim. 🥹
I loved watching Everett let down his walls & let Raine in. Going from a grumpy MMC who was only protecting her out of obligation, to caring for her & being patient with her through her trauma. He helped her regain her confidence & show her she was loved.
This book is soooo freaking good Everett is such a sweat heart I love how fiercely protective he is. This series and the don’t let me fall series are honestly the best books I have ever read the writing is so good and the whole story line is amazing. I love how the wrecked roommates series, don’t let me fall series and this one intertwine, And as always loveeeee some steamy scenes 💙💙
I was so excited to get to know Everett better especially after the details we got in the last book about his childhood. His story did not disappoint! He is a great protector and such a sweetheart! I am loving this big family of characters and how they will do anything for each other it let’s each book tie in together and weave a beautiful story you can’t put down!
I listened to the audiobook and the male narrator took me out of the story until I got used to it. Everett being there for her the entire way made me fall for him myself. He was amazing and the entire story was amazing. The abusive relationship and Everett being there for her was so good and I devoured this!
Another amazing book by Kelsie! I read it in less than 24 hours because I couldn’t put it down. I loved the characters and the fact that they had each other’s trust to the extreme! I have love the extended families involvement in this series and in the don’t let me series. It’s fun to see the multigenerational relationships!
I can’t wait for little secret to come out! I already preordered the remainder of the series!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Kelsie Rae has done it again! I'm starting to really love how the bonus epilogue is the first chapter of the next book! Raine and Everett were great! I feel like we learned about his protectiveness more in the last book, it was barely touched upon here, but that's a little tiny criticism for an otherwise fabulous book! And of course, my favorite part of any Kelsie Rae book are the cameos! Can't wait for the next one!!!
A Little Jaded Kelsie Rae 5 million stars forever 3 spice
WHEN I SAY IM THE BIGGEST KELSIE RAE FAN I WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW IT AND ASSOCIATE ME WITH IT. Im here for this next gen series- "The Little Things" and I could not flipping love Everett Taylor anymore than I do right now... I have been in love with Macklin Taylor since I read "DONT LET ME BREAK" & I knew his son would be no different.
Everett had a hero complex. We see it in A Little Complicated, and A Little Tempting with Lia and with Dylan. He feels like he always has to be the guy to save his family and friends. When Reeves hands over his job of helping the girls out of domestic violent relationships so he can be with Dylan.. im not 100% sure he knew what he was getting into. He definitely didn't know his "first client" would end up being much more than a just that.
Raine never thought she would be the one. In real life situations as these, do you ever really feel like its going to happen TO YOU. No- I dont think you do. The signs are there and when he finally hits her for the first time, she seeks out help. Help being Reeves, not some "fill in". She feels stupid enough for letting it go this far, and she doesn't know Everett judging her.
Once they both realize, it's Everett she's getting- they both come to terms with what needs to happen, and the rest is history. The little things he does for her, and the way she lets him know its okay to not save her- it truly is so refreshing to read someone be your person when they dont even know they need one. (like Everett)
When I freaking tell ya'll I had SHOCK on my face for all the damn curve balls Kelsie through in this one- IM NOT LYING... This book like all her others, keeps you engaged and wanting to keep reading. I read this in less than 24 hours. Im sad a have to wait months for Finley and Griffins story but, I know it will not be in vain and will ruin me like the rest of this series.
10/10/10/10 million. this book is everything. love you Kelsie and all your works of art. thanks for letting me read and review early!
I absolutely loved this! I have been waiting for Everett and Raine's book since I read Dylan's, and this did not disappoint whatsoever! The crossovers were so well done and made me so happy, and I cannot wait for the next book!
I liked the plot overall but i had a lot of issues with Raine.. it bothered me immensely how Rained refused to get the police involved when Ev got literally assaulted by 6 dudes. Like girl, I get that you feel stupid and coming forward from DV is hard; but someone else’s life was put on the line, you feeling stupid is frankly not an excuse when Drake is clearly dangerous bc frankly a hit to the back of the head can have long lasting effects (as Dylan’s story can tell us). Her not really defending Ev or telling the truth when her family thought he hit her like WTF seriously. Also she was so insecure, wants to be a tattoo artist but refuses to tattoo..? her waiting until Drake fucked with Ev even more made me mad. And to add insult to injury; the whole shit with the cops? Like what does Reeves investigation have to do with Raine being stalked/assaulted.
As a side note.. all the comparisons made between drake + raine and finley + drew made me sick. If none of your friends and family like a guy and everyone you love tells you over and over the guy is a douche you oughta re-evaluate shit. And after knowing your brother’s girl got isolated by an abusive asshole and you see your boyfriend telling to drop your friends? .. bleh. Seriously.
Overall I loved Ev and he made up for being an asshole in Dylan’s book. I could take or leave Raine tho. I should say this book was basically a rephrase of Mia’s book.
