TEAGAN HUNTER writes steamy romantic comedies with lots of sarcasm and a side of heart. She loves pizza, hockey, and romance novels, though not in that order. When not writing, you can find her watching entirely too many hours of Supernatural, One Tree Hill, or New Girl. She’s mildly obsessed with Halloween and prefers cooler weather. She married her high school sweetheart, and they currently live in the PNW.

Okay so I didn’t check what this book was going to be about that’s my fault. I thought it was a one night stand turns to friends with benefits romance book but I was wrong.

Now what I really didn’t like about this book is dun dun dunnnnn: the personalities of the characters. How can characters be so annoying and boring at the same time???

The heroine(s): Hollis Kelly - recently divorced because she found out her husband was cheating on her and had been since before their wedding. Hollis is not looking forward to being in her sister’s wedding to a pro hockey player.

The Hero: Cameron Lowell - an NHL Professional Hockey player. Lowell is totally anti-relationship after his former on again off again puck bunny love interest pretended she was pregnant and got him to propose only for him to find out later she just wanted to be the wife of a pro hockey player.

The Story: Hollis and Lowell meet at his team-mate and her sisters wedding rehearsal and she hates him from the start, but at the wedding they have a one night stand and months later Hollis discovers she is pregnant with Lowell’s baby.

“In ice hockey, a one timer is a shot that occurs when a player meets a teammate's pass with an immediate slapshot, without any attempt to control the puck on their stick. - Wikipedia

“I am not about to hurl myself into another relationship. Getting burned like that once was enough for me, thanks. So I keep it light and casual in that department. The one-timer isn’t just good for the ice. It’s pretty much how I get by.

I really love sports romance, especially hockey and football since those are the only two sports I can really get into. I mean how can you not like hockey players. They are good with their sticks and aren’t afraid of a fight.

Teagan Hunter’s writing is great. She is terrific at world building and always has a great supporting cast as well as likable main characters. She injects humor and romance into the story as well as some steamy intimate scenes. It was also nice to see Zach and Delia from Let’s Get Textual show up and talk about their goats for a bit.

This book had all the great elements I like in sports romance and I liked the fact that the two main characters are able to enjoy getting to know each other despite both of their backgrounds. They both have some emotional turmoil going on but not so much that it got depressing or too heavy.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

One-Timer was another great sports romance in Teagan Hunter’s ‘Carolina Comets series. I think this is my favorite of the series so far. This was sweet, funny, and emotional at times. Hockey is my fave when it comes to sports romances and I'm always here for it. And as much as I hate secret babies in books, I do love the surprise baby troupe. Hollis and Cameron were both fantastic! I would recommend this one.

ESTUVO BIEN BONITO

Pregnancy
Sport Romance
Steamy

I think it is impossible for Teagan to write a bad book. Every single one of them, in my opinion, is a winner. The third book in the Carolina Comets series featuring Lowell and Hollis is One-Timer.

The two of them meet at a wedding. They don't get along straight away, but they eventually agree to start over. Things have moved quickly since then, and they've agreed to a one-night stand. It was all fun and games until she found out she was expecting.

This book has great development. It's sweet to witness them build a friendship that eventually blossoms into a relationship. Both of them are still coping with issues that have severely harmed them. They agreed to co-parent after learning she was expecting. That would be the simple route for them because a relationship was out of the question at the start. The pain they were experiencing when they met didn't allow for a relationship at that time. It was decided that there would be no romance, no future, and certainly no kissing. Clearly, things did not go according to plan.

Lowell has to be the best goddamn father on the planet. He did everything he could for her while she was pregnant. He is the best father I've ever seen. He deserves all the happiness that the world has to offer.

3.5 rounded up to 4 because i stayed up til 2AM to finish it and that means something.

Accidental pregnancy and dual pov this book just knew what i needed it was cute maybe even a little funny i loved the friendship Lowell has with his teammates and the girl friendship with Hollis' circle. I think it's very rare that a romance novel shows friendship not being cringy af.

Also one thing i didn't like was how focused lowell was on the baby then on, you know, the woman carrying his child i mean that fault of him is the reason the third act happens and this man goes to the length of saying "But I don’t love you more than our baby, and I hope you can understand that. like....why are you comparing the romantic love you have for the mother of your child to the love you have for the unborn baby? Hm? Should i be concerned? Should i call the police? Is this a twilight jacob thing? Anyway i would be sure he was joking if he didn't mention it again after that but whatever i don't expect much from a white man.

“I’m pregnant.

That’s what my teammate’s sister-in-law tells me after our one-night stand.

I didn’t expect to see Hollis again, let alone end up raising a child with her.

We set some ground rules—we’ll raise the baby together, but that’s it.
No relationship, no future, and definitely no kissing.

But the more time we spend together, the harder it is to keep track of where the lines were once drawn.

I’m known for my one-timer on and off the ice, but this game with Hollis just got a lot more complicated

This was really cute! Hollis is at her sister's wedding right after signing divorce papers from her cheating ex, and is not having a good day. Throw in an old truck, loud music, and a cocky hockey player, and you've got the ingredients for a meltdown...that ended with a punch to the face of said hockey player, Lowell, and ends with a one night stand...and a baby!

These two are both pretty damaged from love-gone-wrong, but they enter into some sort of weird, in-between relationship that basically implodes and then comes back together. It frustrated me for most of the book, actually, and I didn't like Hollis for most of it. Lowell is funny and sweet, and made a big jerk of himself at one point. Didn't love it, didn't hate it!

"I want to make a one-time bad decision with you."

4.5 stars!

I consider myself the type of reader who doesn't really enjoy straight contemporary romance, but Teagan Hunter makes it so easy to enjoy the genre--as long as it's set in the backdrop of the pro-hockey world! I've quickly come to absolutely love Teagan's writing and the characters she has created, including Lowell and Hollis's story. I really enjoyed their banter and hate-to-love-you dynamic, but once again my favorite part of their interactions were their text conversations. They were so brilliant! I am still so freaking stoked for Miller's book, but I cannot wait for Emilia and Smith's age-gap romance next

Finished this yesterday so it counts as a February read <3

I've been wanting to read this and this series in general for a while. I finally took the chance and it really paid off. I enjoyed One-Timer and it gave everything an accidental pregnancy romance needed to give. I had a good time plus it's a short book actually! Hockey + found family + pregnancy + doesn't want to do relationships but falls in love either way.

Teagan hunter kitaplari "evde son kalan pasta dilimini yemek" gibi. tadi güzeldir ama seni doyurmaz.
Kitabı okuduğum zaman tatmin olmuyorum. Beni tutmuyor kitap.

I’m not rounding up bc the cover is absolutely horrible. Like the color scheme, the pose, etc no. I almost didn’t read it bc of the cover.

Anyway, it was a good story, I just didn’t like how it was “just sex for 99% of the book then he realizes last min he wants to be more than that? Like y’all were already more than that you’re just a douche bag who thought he could have his cake and eat it too.

This was posted as “secret baby but is actually “surprise pregnancy and I wish people would realize they’re two different tropes.

I love a good surprise pregnancy romance! Lowell, famous hockey player, hates weddings. No one hates wedding as much as his teammate's sister-in-law, Hollis. These two hook up at the wedding of Hollis' sister and Lowell's teammate. Though they had a great connection, they don't plan on seeing each other again. Several weeks later, what was thought to be food poisoning is really a surprise baby on the way!

I loved seeing Hollis and Lowell attempt to be friends during the pregnancy, when both of them really wanted to take their relationship to the next level. Both of them have been badly hurt in previous relationships so you totally understand their hesitance to try love again. However, once Lowell realized Hollis was pregnant, after a few knocks to the head by his friends to shake off his shock, he was there every step of the way.

It was so fun seeing the characters from past books, while also getting a good glimpse at who the next book will be about. This low-angst hockey romance was so easy to read, and I loved Hollis and Lowell's HEA!

TROPES: surprise pregnancy; one night stand; hockey romance; low angst; love after heartbreak

“Whenever we're not together, I want to be. Whenever we are together, I never want to leave.

One-Timer is the third installment in the Carolina Comets series and follows Hollis and Lowell. They meet at her sister and his teammate's wedding, and they don't get along right away. As the party goes on, Hollis and Lowell decide to start over. From that moment on, things evolve rapidly between them, and they end up having a one-night stand. But a few months later, when they never thought they would see each other again, Hollis discovers that she is pregnant.

From what we saw of Lowell in the previous books, he seemed like an intriguing character, so I was very excited about his book. Hollis and Lowell's story was so sweet, steamy, and funny, and I absolutely loved it. Their first encounter was so funny, and it immediately drew me into the story. I like the unexpected pregnancy trope, especially here because it was the main focus, and their relationship was built around it. Teagan Hunter never disappoints, and I think Carolina Comets is becoming my favorite series of her!!

Hollis and Lowell were great characters! She is recently divorced after being cheated on, and he still has trust issues from his previous relationship, so they're both not looking for anything serious, let alone starting a family. But they agree to co-parent, so they begin to spend more time together and bond. Watching them fall in love, not being able to resist each other, and understanding their feelings for each other were some of my favorite moments! With the pregnancy also came many adorable, domestic moments between Hollis and Lowell that made me smile like an idiot.

The secondary characters were also a great addition to the story. I loved the relationship between Hollis and her sister, and the one between Lowell and his teammates. They are all really comfort characters! Teagan Hunter has me obsessed with her next couple already, and the crumbs we got about them were amazing!!

Overall, I had a great time reading One-Timer, and I loved Hollis and Lowell's story. I can't wait for the next book to have more content from them and their baby because they are so precious 🥺 But most of all, I can't wait to read Emilia and Smith's book!

🎧🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧🎧

Back in December (2022) I listened to my very first Teagan Hunter story, Puck Shy, and it delighted me to no end. I was so giddy about it that I jumped right into Blind Pass soon after but audio credits don’t come cheap so that’s where I was until the opportunity to listen to One-Timer came up as a promotion and I jumped on it! I am super stoked that I jumped!

PERFORMANCE REVIEW: Tim Paige & Callie Dalton once again did a very good job bringing this story to life and complementing each other’s voices. They also did very well with the secondary characters and made my listening experience that much better for it! Well done!

STORY REVIEW: Teagan Hunter has a superpower people! Her superpower is writing emotionally charged storylines that don’t get bogged down with the angst but are rather uplifting because of it. I can’t say I’m an expert on her writing, of course, but so far, in my experience, her stories have not been superficial in the least but also not so deep that you can’t appreciate the humor and levity she weaves into her stories and characters! Hollis and Lowell both have circumstances in their pasts that shape how they interact with the opposite sex and how much trust they have on them as well. They both have trust issues in this department but for slightly different reasons. This book published over a year ago so I feel like this wouldn’t be a *spoiler* but I really loved that at the root of both Hollis and Lowell’s apprehension towards intimate relationships was the same thing, deceit from their partner. It gave them both a sense of destiny or kismet to me and I loved that. It made me super happy! Kinda like the whole 7° of separation concept.

The unfolding of the storylines along with character development were very well done and balanced. Every story I’ve read/listened to by Teagan has put a huge smile on my face and this was no different! She makes it easy to get lost for hours in her fictional world!

This is the second book from the "Carolina Comets" by Teagan Hunter and I loooved it. This is also the second book I am reading from the author and she already became one of my favourites.

When it comes to the tropes - Accidental Pregnancy is one of the best for me and it is the story of Lowell and Hollis. Considering that Lowell is famous for his one-time dates and nights he was completely different from the nickname they gave him. And I promise you he redeemed himself from that name 😁. Hollis is a really good heroine - feisty, sexy and don't accept people walking all over her. She is spitting fire when she needs to 🔥.

As a couple, they were perfect. Even though that neither of them wanted to admit they have feeling towards each other. The amount of smut in this book...it is literally off the charts. I freaking love the book and it's main characters. You people definately have to read it 😍.

P.S. I can not wait for Smith and Emilia's book. We will have another hotness overload over the summer.

Teagan Hunter is always so good to me! I can always count on her to write the best tropes in the best way possible.

This was a different take on accidental pregnancy and I enjoyed it so much! Hollis and Lowell didn’t have an easy beginning since they both came from awful relationships so their trust issues played a big part in the story. The bond they slowly create thanks to their baby is adorable. Most times with this trope, the pregnancy happens in the background, but this time I’d say it’s the focus of the story 🥺🤰🏻💗.

I loved Lowell ans Hollis’s characters, they made the book so funny and easy to read! Also, I love Miller so much. He’s like an overeager puppy and i neeeed his book but I need Smith and Emilia’s more. Oh my god, SIN BIN is going to be good. So good. I’m so in love with this series!

3.5 stars. I didn't love the hero of this one - he waffled for too long for me. BUT I really liked the heroine, so she made up for his temporary stupidity. And I'll be a broken record once again - that end of book drama was annoying and right on cue based on the previous two books. And please please please stop throwing characters into these books that were from other series. SOOOOO UNNECESSARY, I have no doubt that very few readers actually find enjoyment in these casual run-ins.

Safe; no virgins, heroine divorced and was cheated on by her ex husband, hero does ONS hookups only bc he was hurt by an ex pretending to be pregnant when she wasn't, no cheating, no scenes with om/ow, no om/ow drama.

One-Timer is the 3rd book in Teagan Hunter’s Carolina Comets series and is my fav in the series so far! This is a contemporary, hockey romance series and this one is a one-night stand turned surprise pregnancy that really worked for me!

Hollis and Lowell run into one another in a parking lot, she accidentally slaps/hits him, and then they start arguing. She’s there for her sister’s wedding and thinks he’s trespassing since he obviously doesn’t belong. Then her sister comes over and says they’re both in the wedding party and going to be walking down the aisle together! Hollis sister is Harper and his teammate is Collin (the couple of book 2).

I loved the setup of this one, the hateful banter at first that then leads to a hookup at the wedding! Hollis went through a divorce earlier in the year and was definitely not expecting to find out she’s pregnant from her one-night with Lowell. Since Lowell is her new brother-in-law’s teammate, it is easy to track him down when she finds out she’s pregnant from their hookup. I feel like surprise pregnancy rarely works for me but for some reason if it’s a one-night stand that leads to it, then I really love it! I love seeing the hero and heroine trying to make it work and learn more about one another as they go. I liked seeing Lowell, who always wanted to have a family of his own, go all in with the planning for their baby. He definitely has some hang-ups to overcome but I liked how it all played out!

🏒 Tek gecelik ilişki
🏒Sürpriz hamilelik
🏒Buz hokeyi

Sonrasında Lowell'in bazı gıcık tavırları hariç kitapta her şeyi çok keyifle okudum.

Don't get me wrong, I love a good sports/hockey romance AND there was the pregnancy trope... but I didn't feel connected or really interested in the characters. I read the first 2 books back in February so forgot about this series/world for a bit. This book just reminded me of and combined and had a baby lmao. This book isn't as good as I thought it would be and I wish I got a bit more depth from it.

Herrlich.

I got so many feels while reading this one. After Blind Pass, I knew I needed to continue with this series. Lowell and Hollis meet and start out as enemies (which I love) but it quickly turns into more.. oh baby, after their one night stand.
What I loved about this book was Lowell and his sweetness. He grabbed my heart with his words and actions (for the most part because of course he was going to screw up at some point right?). The tension and subsequent feelings were just bursting off the pages, but it took the actual characters a little longer to realize what the reader already knew. I absolutely adored that we got so much of the other characters in the series, I am in love with this friend group and am anxiously awaiting the next book.
The one thing I didn't love was that these two thought they could have a FWB situation till the baby came and it was all going to be just fine, no feelings. Guys, A BABY IS COMING. Good luck with all that. No, no feelings will be involved, it's fine. All fine. All in all, I adored it and I can't wait for more.
