I thought THE ORACLE OF DATING was a fun and original read and was more than excited to get started on the sequel. To my surprise, I enjoyed THE ORACLE REBOUNDS even more! With fresh plot developments, intriguing new characters, and more, this second title was the perfect summer read that I had been hoping for.
Allison van Diepen has created such a fabulous cast of characters in the ORACLE series. Kayla is a fantastic main character, because she is just so real. She is someone any teenager could relate to and her experiences are believable and made me like her even more. For starters, when her boyfriend, Jared, breaks up with her she is beyond surprised and hurt (as anyone would be!)! As the Oracle of Dating, she felt she should have been able to detect that things weren't going well, but alas, Jared wants to focus more on his art college portfolio, and Kayla is left to decide what to do next.
Laughs and adventure ensues when Kayla goes on the rebound! Benoit, the French exchange student, was an interesting character, and he provided Kayla with a much needed distraction. Kayla learns a lot about herself and what a relationship truly means once she and Jared are broken up. She has some funny, but, at times, heartbreaking experiences, but continues to be strong and keep her head firmly on her shoulders. Luckily, she also has her besties to help her through the rough patches.
Ryan, Sharese, Viv, and Amy are each incredibly developed and unique characters. They each have something special about them, and we also get to learn more about their own relationships and how they are handling them in THE ORACLE REBOUNDS. These four are always there for each other and Kayla, and I really enjoyed reading about all their different adventures together. Tracey, Kayla's sister, also has a bigger role in this story, as Kayla helps her out with her own dating escapades. Family and friendships are all very important parts of this series, and I love that the author made them all have such a big role in Kayla's life.
There are quite a few new plot developments in this novel. From Kayla's dating life to her friends' conflicts to her website coming under fire. Since I also have a blog, I could relate to Kayla's reaction when she saw people taking her words out of context and worrying that all she had worked for was going to collapse. She stayed strong, though, and proved that nobody could take down the Oracle.
Another aspect of this series that I just have to talk about is the advice. Kayla gives such great advice on her blog, and it's always interesting to read her different posts, plus to read about the tips she gives her friends and sister. Kayla's own experiences are a lesson all in themselves, and any teenager will get something out of reading this book.
In the end, I have to recommend this to everyone. It is a sweet, easy read, but with important lessons contained in its pages. If you've read the prequel, I can assure you that this one will not disappoint. I hope that Allison van Diepen will be writing a third book about Kayla!

The Oracle Rebounds was proof positive that teen chick lit can be smart, sweet, and family-friendly. Kayla (aka “The Oracle�) runs a teen dating advice website; happily in love, she’s broadsided by Jared’s decision to take some space. She’s lost without her other half, and questions what her next step is. Looking back at her articles about breakups she realizes it’s not so easy to take your own advice when love might be just around the corner. What makes this different? Her strong family and friendships; a lot of teen lit draws on a disturbed family life, drama between friends; Alison uses these strong ties instead to create positive tension and loads of support. That’s not to knock family and friend drama in teen lit. I simply appreciated that it wasn’t necessary to tell such a great story. Her friends have their own issues as well, and it’s clear that while Kayla is involved in her own personal life, they all make time for each other. Some might question how a teen could write such mature advice columns, but I felt that they had a good teen vibe and Kayla had the maturity to respond appropriately. Plus, she never writes a response right away, and often it’s commented that she’ll sit on a column for a few days. I think this is a great addition to any young adult collection, for a friend or a library. I haven’t read the first Oracle title, but I didn’t feel that I missed anything by starting in the middle. That said, I can’t wait to go grab The Oracle of Dating!

If you thought The Oracle of Dating was a fabulously fun read, well just wait until you read The Oracle Rebounds because it's even better- which I personally didn't even think would be possible!
It's been five months, three weeks, and two days since Kayla and Jared got together and so far things have never been better! Kayla loves Jared and Jared loves Kayla and that's how it's going to stay, right? Wrong because on that fateful day five months, three weeks, and two days, Jared makes a stunning announcement: He wants to break up with Kayla so he can focus more on getting a scholarship to college. Kayla, shocked at this news, goes into breakdown mood. Then she meets a French foreign exchange student who's crazy hot and has an accent as well! Will he be her prince charming? Or is she just rebounding from Jared? About what Jared, does she still like him? It's starting to look like junior year will be nothing short of easy for Kayla, especially when a scandal breaks out about her Oracle of Dating website!
Kayla is without a doubt one of my favorite protagonists ever. She's funny, real, honest, and goofy. She makes mistakes and learns from them along the ways. She falls for guys who aren't anything like what they seem. She has amazing friends who have her back no matter what. Basically she's the average teen and that makes her pretty relatable in my book and I'm sure other teens will feel the same. I especially love her relationship with Jared because not only is he swoon-worthy but he's not some cookie-gutter perfect YA book guy, instead he makes some silly choices, gets jealous, and is there for Kayla but not in a stalker sort of way.
Furthermore, I loved all the action and drama that occurs in The Oracle Rebounds between Kayla's friends and their significant others to between Kayla and a fellow blogger to between Kayla and Jared and the French foreign exchange student because it always managed to keep me on my feet, curious to find out what would occur next. Once again, I also really enjoyed how Allison included different blog posts of Kayla's because, in my opinion, they always include really great advice for the most part.
In all, The Oracle Rebounds is a fantastic follow-up to The Oracle of Dating, and I only hope there will be a third book to this great series. If not, I'm sure Allison, as well as Harlequin Teen, will have plenty of other titles to keep me happy!

I was hesitant to start The Oracle Rebound because of what I assumed from the blurb. (And I lost my interest in writing a review for the first book) As I was hung up on Jared and Kayla's relationship, it was definitely a depressing moment when I found out that they were going their separate ways, and honestly, the book lost it's spark to me. I can't do this. Feeling heartbroken.
But to my utter surprise, I finished it in merely two hours, I guess some of the Oracle's advice got to me, Kayla taught me to look deeper.
If the first book got you hooked, the second book got you rooted. I got the best dating advices from a story book! This book relates well to teenagers because the protagonist herself is a teen who deals with her own problems, and that she's growing each day. I had fun reading The Oracle of Dating series because the characters themselves are just vibrant, and we get to read about diversed characters.

The Oracle Rebounds is the sequel of The Oracle of Dating, which I loved it.
Just for the tittle I knew something was going to happen between Kayla and Jared. It was sad to see them breaking up, and Kayla trying to deal with her broken heart.
But as always, I loved Kayla. She´s sweet, intelligent and strong. Even with her heart broken because of Jared, she can't hate him. She isn't going to say nasty things about him, even when she doesn't understand why he made that decision.
I was angry with Jared at first, and ready to hate him. He made an awful mistake, they belong together! But it is nice to see that he's still the same sweet and caring boy.
Kayla is a great role model. I don't think I would have reacted the way she did, at least at her age. She's very mature, and tries to learn from every bad thing that happens to her.
Allison van Diepen wrote an awesome chick lit book, again. It was fast paced and a great and fun light reading, and even when the ending felt a little rushed, I still felt happy with it.
Overall, I loved this book and I can't wait to read more about Kayla and Jared.

Os livros são rápidos e fáceis de lerâ€� E melhor ainda: tem aquele ritmo gostoso que faz com que seja impossÃvel parar a leitura.
Acho que o que mais gostei da série (ta, não é o termo certo, mas�) foi que os personagens e as situações são reais� Acho nós já passamos pelo menos por uma das situações citadas, tivemos as mesmas dúvidas que os clientes da Kayla tem ou nos identificamos com algum dos personagens�
Amei o fato de que, mesmo sendo o oráculo e dando dicas sobre relacionamentos para todo mundo, a Kayla ainda tinha dúvidas e incertezas sobre o assunto e ficava se perguntando se o Jared gostava ou não dela�
Por falar em Jared, eu ameeeei ele ! (grande surpresa uhauhauhauh) ele é meio que misterioso, tem olhos azuis (desculpa, eu tenho um fraco por olhos claros�), é um artista, toca numa banda, etc, etc.
Eu gostei da Kayla também� Da objetividade dela e do fato dela querer ajudar todo mundo, principalmente os amigos dela�
Falando em amigos (Viv, Sharese, Amy e Ryan), amei todos eles também *-* cada um é diferente de sua maneira, mas estão sempre lá para se ajudar, no fim as diferenças no grupo foi o que tornou a amizade entre eles mais forte�
O legal dos livros é ver o crescimento da Kaylaâ€� Como ela aprende com os seus erros e como ela supera alguns desafios e momentos difÃceis da vida delaâ€�

This book is cute - and light, and fluffy. No real hard stuff here. So - if you are a fan or recent Allison van Diepen books, you are going to be surprised (like I was). I liked it - but after reading books such as Snitch, Take Down and On The Edge, I expected something a little darker. Still, The Oracle Rebounds has its charms.
Sixteen-year-old Kayla has a blog, The Oracle of Dating, where she gives other teens dating advice and writes about relationship topics. She has a yummy boyfriend, Jared. She has a group of close friends. And then - it all falls apart. Jared dumps her, another teen blogger sics her constituents on her, her friends start hiding things from her. But Kayla wisely (for a teenager) works through it all and triumphs in the end. Of course.
Like I said, cute teen life book.

Peramal Cinta is Back merupakan sequel dari Si Perama Cinta karya Allison van Diepen. Gaya bahasa dan jalan cerita yang ringan, memang sangat mudah dipahami. Ala ala kisah remaja Amerika yang berbeda jauh dengan wilayah Indonesia sangat menambah informasi tersendiri.
Kisah cinta dan persahabatan sangat jelas terlihat dalam buku ini. Apalagi tema cinta dimana rumitnya bagi para remaja menghadapi awal kisah percintaan mereka. Mulai dari jatuh cinta hingga bagaimana mereka menghadapi rasanya putus cinta dan pelarian sebagai efeknya.
Alhasil, buku ini cukup asik untuk dihabiskan dalam sekali duduk.
Kisah cinta dan persahabatan sangat jelas terlihat dalam buku ini. Apalagi tema cinta dimana rumitnya bagi para remaja menghadapi awal kisah percintaan mereka. Mulai dari jatuh cinta hingga bagaimana mereka menghadapi rasanya putus cinta dan pelarian sebagai efeknya.

Not as good as the first book but still very enjoyable

Kayla is still running her online dating advice blog � still anonymously - and she’s been dating her uber sexy artist (IMO anyway) boyfriend Jared for a while now. Things are going great.
Then Jared tells her he needs some breathing space and Kayla takes that as “I want to break up with you� and ends their relationship for him. Kayla immediately uses her Oracle of Dating skills to decide exactly how long she must wait before embarking on her rebound relationship.
The Oracle Rebounds is the second in van Diepan’s Oracle of Dating series. In some ways book two improves upon the premise. Kayla is more mature, has to make tougher decisions in both her personal and professional lives and confronts more adult themes than in the first book. On the other hand, I sometimes felt a little cut off from Kayla emotionally by her headstrong attitude. While admirable, it’s best taken in small doses.
Kayla is a type “A� personality and approaches everything in life as a formula to be worked out. I know a lot of people like this, so it is realistic, but as a reader she can come off as too aloof. I really like how Jared with his Zen, soothing ways acts as a counter balance to her and that was missing from this book.
On the other hand, the breakup gives Kayla a chance to grow as a character and I like how she was willing to take a few emotional risks even if it means the potential for heartbreak. There are a few brief romances that become fodder for her Oracle blog posts. Most notably one with Benoit � the French foreign exchange student. As with all things Kayla � she plows in full speed which threw me a little considering how cautious she was in her relationship with Jared but sometimes a whirlwind romance is what you need after a bad breakup! Benoit wasn’t my cup of tea…a little too smooth with the lines but I get it.
The Oracle Rebounds also touches on a subject that really interests me in YA right now. Is the first love the one and ONLY true love? Can/should young people date several people over the span of high school or must they jump into a committed relationship? The romantic in me wanted her back with Jared the entire time, but I can also see when you’re young, that you have to experience different types of relationships and they all add something to the type of person you eventually become. Sometimes that will lead you back to the person you started out with.
The one thing that bothered me about the previous book and again in this one is Kayla’s friends. She repeats how important they are to her but other than the weekly movie night get together I don’t see it. I’m thrilled there is a teenager in YA that cares about her friends and doesn’t dump them for the first boy that comes around, but they don’t really talk to each other all that much. For example, after she breaks up with Jared they all say they never liked him, then when they get back together they like him again. Well which is it? I understand loyalty but sometimes honest advice is what’s called for.
Amy is another instance where I think they should have spoken up more. Her cheating and sexting are downright dangerous and they're concerned but they seem to take a live and let live approach. They are there for each other in their time of need though � I just wish the friendships were developed more.
Like I said before � without Jared or her friends as Kayla’s emotional anchor, her character feels detached to me. She gets over things so quickly. I don’t � so maybe that’s my issue not hers. LOL
This is a light, fun series that manages to touch on a lot of issues that affect teen’s today, like first love, teen drinking, sexting, and cheating, friendships and even cultural dating.
Love: This is a cute series with a different kind of protagonist. She’s not one to drool and go weak kneed over a boy and she cares about her job and her future. I like that.
Nitpick: Said protagonist is also so focused and driven to a point that sometimes it’s hard to feel for her. Not enough Jared :-) I love that boy.

Kayla is more mature, has to make tougher decisions in both her personal and professional lives and confronts more adult themes than in the first book. On the other hand, I sometimes felt a little cut off from Kayla emotionally by her headstrong attitude. While admirable, it’s best taken in small doses.
Kayla is a type “A� personality and approaches everything in life as a formula to be worked out. I know a lot of people like this, so it is realistic, but as a reader she can come off as too aloof. I really like how Jared with his Zen, soothing ways acts as a counter balance to her and that was missing from this book.
On the other hand, the breakup gives Kayla a chance to grow as a character and I like how she was willing to take a few emotional risks even if it means the potential for heartbreak. There are a few brief romances that become fodder for her Oracle blog posts. Most notably one with Benoit � the French foreign exchange student. As with all things Kayla � she plows in full speed which threw me a little considering how cautious she was in her relationship with Jared but sometimes a whirlwind romance is what you need after a bad breakup! Benoit wasn’t my cup of tea…a little too smooth with the lines but I get it.
The Oracle Rebounds also touches on a subject that really interests me in YA right now. Is the first love the one and ONLY true love? Can/should young people date several people over the span of high school or must they jump into a committed relationship? The romantic in me wanted her back with Jared the entire time, but I can also see when you’re young, that you have to experience different types of relationships and they all add something to the type of person you eventually become. Sometimes that will lead you back to the person you started out with.
The one thing that bothered me about the previous book and again in this one is Kayla’s friends. She repeats how important they are to her but other than the weekly movie night get together I don’t see it. I’m thrilled there is a teenager in YA that cares about her friends and doesn’t dump them for the first boy that comes around, but they don’t really talk to each other all that much. For example, after she breaks up with Jared they all say they never liked him, then when they get back together they like him again. Well which is it? I understand loyalty but sometimes honest advice is what’s called for.
Amy is another instance where I think they should have spoken up more. Her cheating and sexting are downright dangerous and they're concerned but they seem to take a live and let live approach. They are there for each other in their time of need though � I just wish the friendships were developed more.
Like I said before � without Jared or her friends as Kayla’s emotional anchor, her character feels detached to me. She gets over things so quickly. I don’t � so maybe that’s my issue not hers. LOL
This is a light, fun series that manages to touch on a lot of issues that affect teen’s today, like first love, teen drinking, sexting, and cheating, friendships and even cultural dating.
Love: This is a cute series with a different kind of protagonist. She’s not one to drool and go weak kneed over a boy and she cares about her job and her future. I like that.
Nitpick: Said protagonist is also so focused and driven to a point that sometimes it’s hard to feel for her. Not enough Jared :-) I love that boy.
The Oracle Rebounds had a great ending that leads in nicely to the next book which I'll be reading as soon as it comes out.

I thought The Oracle of Dating was a fun and original read and was more than excited to get started on the sequel. To my surprise, I enjoyed The Oracle Rebounds even more! With fresh plot developments, intriguing new characters, and more, The Oracle Rebounds was the perfect summer read that I had been hoping for.
Allison van Diepen has created such a fabulous cast of characters in the Oracle series. Kayla is a fantastic main character, because she is just so real. She is someone any teenager could relate to and her experiences are believable and made me like her even more. For starters, when her boyfriend, Jared, breaks up with her she is beyond surprised and hurt (as anyone would be!)! As the Oracle of Dating she felt she should have been able to detect that things weren’t going well, but alas, Jared wants to focus more on his art college portfolio, and Kayla is left to decide what to do next. Laughs and adventure ensues when Kayla goes on the rebound! Benoit, the French exchange student, was an interesting character, and he provided Kayla with a much needed distraction. Kayla learns a lot about herself and what a relationship truly means once she and Jared are broken up. She has some funny, but, at times, heartbreaking experiences, but continues to be strong and keep her head firmly on her shoulders. Luckily, she also has her besties to help her through the rough patches.
Ryan, Sharese, Viv, and Amy are each incredibly developed and unique characters. They each have something special about them and we also get to learn more about their own relationships and how they are handling them in The Oracle Rebounds. These four are always there for each other and Kayla and I really enjoyed reading about all their different adventures together. Tracey, Kayla’s sister, also has a bigger role in this story, as Kayla helps her out with her own dating escapades. Family and friendships are all very important parts of this series and I love that Allison made them all have such a big role in Kayla’s life.
There are quite a few new plot developments in this novel. From Kayla’s dating life to her friends conflicts to her website getting under fire. Since I also have a blog, I could relate to Kayla’s reaction when she saw people taking her words out of context and worrying that all she had worked for was going to collapse. She stayed strong, though, and proved that nobody could take down the Oracle.
Another aspect of this series that I just have to talk about is the advice. Kayla gives such great advice on her blog and it’s always interesting to read her different blog posts, plus to read about the tips she gives her friends and sister. Kayla’s own experiences are a lesson all in themselves and any teenager will get something out of reading this book.
In the end, I have to recommend this to everyone. It is a sweet, easy read, but with important lessons contained in it’s pages. If you’ve read the prequel, I can assure you that this one will not disappoint. I hope that Allison van Diepen will be writing a third book about Kayla!

How do you rate a book that is just run-of-the-mill fluff that's far from deep, yet is really fun? That's my question. Because that's exactly what The Oracle Rebounds is. Fluff. And I like me some fluff. But at the same time, I feel a bit off giving fluff books five (or four) stars unless they seriously made me laugh out loud (, ) or if it's fluff that evoked a strong reaction from me (like I loathed every single one of the characters yet was still endlessly amused like ). The Oracle Rebounds was neither. So I think I'm justified in my three star rating.
Again I say that there's absolutely nothing wrong with fluff. I love fluff. In fact, while reading this book I was feeling like crap on toast and I could sincerely say that this book made me feel a whole lot better just because it was such a great distraction from the crappiness I was feeling. Plus, I really liked the premise: 16 year old girl who has a kick-ass relationship blog giving all sorts of advice on romantic issues ends up getting dumped. Simple, sweet, and straight to the point. That was this book in a nutshell.
Kayla was likeable even though I was thinking "A 16 year old girl is this wise beyond her years when it comes to relationships?" So, it requires a bit of bending in the laws of realism, but it is fiction and I'm okay with authors tweaking it a little bit. However, one thing that didn't necessarily bother me, but did kind of take me out of the story were some of the blogs that Kayla wrote. The relationship woes ones were fine and totally on point in that it's something a teen would think. The ones on the dangers of sexting and not letting yourself get to vulnerable (i.e. drinking and doing drugs) that you put yourself in danger seemed a bit preachy. Don't get me wrong, I agree that both scenarios are extremely dangerous, but at that point I was very much aware of the fact that it was an adult author writing these blog posts and not a teen.
Besides those little nitpicks, I thought that The Oracle Rebounds was a cute, fluffy, read. Sure, it wasn't extremely memorable, but it was enjoyable. I haven't read the first installment of this series,, but I recommend it anyway. In fact, I wasn't even aware that it was a series until a few pages towards the end that had me thinking it could be. So, if you haven't read the first installment, you should still pick this one up. I don't think it's really necessary to read these in order. Or at least you won't be completely lost if you don't. Recommended.

Michaela “Kayla� Cruickshank bukan gadis SMA biasa. Umurnya baru 16 tahun tapi ia telah meretas jalan bisnis dengan membangun sebuah website yang menjajakan layanan konsultasi beragam persoalan seputar kehidupan percintaan remaja (dating) dengan nama samaran the Oracle. Pada tahun keduanya ini, Kayla harus menelan pil pahit ketika Jared, cowoknya dari setahun kemarin, justru meminta putus dengan alasan yang membuat Kayla gondok setengah mati. Maka dimulailah petualangan Kayla untuk membuktikan teori yang pernah ditulisnya tentang rumus memulai hubungan baru setelah putus dari hubungan yang lama. Nah, berdasarkan hitungan dari rumus yang dibuatnya itu, kayla membutuhkan waktu 62 hari sebelum ia bisa menjalin hubungan dengan cowok lain. Pada masa-masa itu, satu demi satu cowok masuk dalam kehidupannya. Tapi, nyatanya mencari cowok rebound nggak segampang yang ia kira. Namun, karena background psikologi populer yang diemban si tokoh utama, tak jarang banyak selipan quotes yang cukup nendang buat para remaja sekalian yang sedang tersaput nuansa merah muda alias dalam masa-masa indah menjalin gita cinta dari SMA. Silakan disimak nasihat-nasihat love-relationship by Kayla di buku ini.
Yang kurang dari novel ini adalah dangkalnya penggalian konflik dan karakter yang ada. Masih hanya di permukaan saja. Bahkan, ending yang happy seolah menggampangkan semuanya. Cowok yang datang dan pergi selama masa ‘kepergian� Jared di kehidupan Kayla terkadang serasa hanya tempelan belaka. Saya kurang bisa terisap ke dalam nuansa warna kehidupan remaja yang sejatinya penuh dengan goncangan jiwa itu...xixixi.

Ceritanya ngalir, meskipun terkadang perpindahan satu adegan ke adegan yang lain berjalan kurang mulus. Entahlah, sepertinya cara Allison menyajikan cowok-cowok rebound bagi Kayla kurang smooth dan terasa hanya untuk mengulur waktu untuk akhirnya mempersembahkan cinta sejati bagi Kayla. Sangat mudah tertebak. Sayang sekali. Bahkan, kehadiran teman-teman Kayla juga seolah hanya serupa pemandu sorak yang menggoyang pompom untuk memberikan dukungan pada Kayla tanpa memberikan makna yang cukup dalam bagi kehidupan Kayla.

As you might have seen in my The Oracle of Dating review, that I had to start The Oracle Rebounds as soon as I finished the last pages of The Oracle of Dating.... and can I say that I loved this novel even more than the first!
The Oracle of Rebounds had everything I loved from The Oracle of Dating and then some! Can I just say that I love Kayla! She is such a great protagonist to read about! And even though she makes her share of mistakes... I never feel the need to yell at the book... you know what I'm talking about.. when you have that character that is just too stupid to live and you find yourself yelling at them by yelling at the book! Oh... you don't know what I'm talking about.. maybe that's just me. anyway...
I often complain about the crappy friends that I read about in YA... the ones that the protag can't share her real feelings with in fear of being ridiculed by her friends. (Hate those! Those people are NOT your real friends!) But I love the dynamics of the friendship between Kayla and her group of friends. They aren't afraid to be honest with her, but they know how to be supportive and keep the interest of the friend first and foremost. Even when they don't listen to each other, you know they respect each other. Exactly how a friendship should be.
Loved how Allison portrayed this aspect of a relationship.... if you can call rebounding a part of a relationship... which I think you can. An aspect of some relationships anyway. There isn't a magic formula even though Kayla does try to come up with her own. I think it one of things that just takes time. I like that Kayla tried to move on... the best way to move on is to find some else to focus on. (Wait that's not how that saying goes... ) Even though her choices may not have been the smartest ones, we don't always think the most rationally in that type of situation.
AND! There was this part in the story where Kayla's blog is under fire... well Kayla herself is criticized and called names... that hit just a little to close to home for me! Kayla handled it way better than I did the first time... or the second and third time. (Obviously it takes some of us a little bit more time to learn from our mistakes.) But I loved how Kayla handled the situation and only wish I could have been that cool!

After reading the first book in the series, The Oracle of Dating (find my review here) and liking it. I decided to give the second book a try. Better watch out for spoilers if you haven't read the first book. I admit it, I was very reluctant to start this one. Since I didn't know what will the author add to the ALREADY very good story. I thought that it will be just a stretch, a twin of the first book.
Hell, I was wrong.
Kayla's happily-ever-after with Jared was supposed to last FOREVER. But when Jared decides to "take a step back", Kayla is confused, hurt, and enraged. What did she do that got her hurt that much? There is only one thing that Kayla can do. Find a rebound. A cute, funny boy who will be able to take Jared's place. But it's not all that simple.
When Kayla's mom accepts a new exchange student, she is terrified. But when a hot-as-hell boy with a sexy accent arrives on her doorstep, well, it doesn't look so bad after all. But he is only staying for two short weeks. To take her mind off things, Kaila starts guest posting for her "website". But even THAT doesn't turn out as good as it should. Can Kayla take anymore?
What will Kayla do? Who will she take as her rebound? Will she every forget the boy who has her heart? Find out much more when you read The Oracle Rebounds. A funny, light, and quirky contemporary novel.
I liked this book so MUCH. Just as much as the first one. I was dreading reading this one, I was afraid that it will make me hate the series altogether. But it didn't. It made me love the series much more. I really like Allison Van Diepen's writing style. She simplifies everyday lives and puts dots on the letters. She is a straight-forward, great novelist.
I liked the characters, too. They are very simple and teenage-y :P Even though they can be very stupid sometimes and make the stupidest decisions, I still felt for them and loved them. Kayla is much more mature even through her heartbreak. I liked every single thing in this novel.

The Oracle Rebounds was a fun, easy reading crash course in friendships and relationship brought to us by Alison van Diepien.
In The Oracle Rebounds we are taken into the life of a just-turned sixteen year old Kayla, a together and mature, girl who anonymously runs a website offering relationship advice for a small price unbeknown to all but two ofher friends.
The situations and hurdles Kayla and the characters of this book came across made for instant nostalgia for
someone, me, who has been out of high school for a few years. It is amazing how I can look back while reading Kayla's story and relate to it, feeling her emotions, and relating to not only her but those around her. This time around, not truly experiencing it myself, I got to witness the issues from all sides and know that even for those YA readers who may not be feeling nostalgic quite yet that they still remember, or are going through, the growing pains of first loves and all that it entails.
Some may have been put off by the fact that Kayla was barely sixteen and charging for advice, giving it to her
older sister, and seemed have a steady head on her shoulders but Kayla just had that air about her. She was
that girl, the one people go to in school just to have someone to listen to them or give them the possible harsh truth. Beyond her advice, even if anonymously, Kayla rounded out her group of friends adding depth to where some of her friends chose different priorities, which were addressed and the consequences were presented to us giving us a story that wasn't only entertaining but realistic.
Even with harsh truths, advice no one would want to hear (who wants to hear their boyfriend is cheating on them, or that your parents were right about your boyfriend?,) and situations even Kayla hated experiencing first hand she stayed true to herself in the end, and offered a wonderful example to readers young, and a those a little older.
The Oracle Rebounds is the sequel to The Oracle of Dating but has the ability to stand alone. It is simply written but has a well formed story and characters. I laughed and I wanted to cry, Alison made sure to cover all of her bases well.
In The Oracle Rebounds we are taken into the life of a just-turned sixteen year old Kayla, a together and mature, girl who anonymously runs a website offering relationship advice for a small price unbeknown to all but two ofher friends.
The situations and hurdles Kayla and the characters of this book came across made for instant nostalgia for
someone, me, who has been out of high school for a few years. It is amazing how I can look back while reading Kayla's story and relate to it, feeling her emotions, and relating to not only her but those around her. Saat membaca judulnya saya langsung berpikir kayaknya seru nih ceritanya. Begitu selesai menamatkan buku ini, menurut saya ceritanya remaja banget, seru dan menarik. Ini kali pertama saya baca karyanya Allison van Diepen, dan cukup membuat saya jatuh cinta. Entah Peramal Cinta is Back ini buku terakhir dari seri The Oracle of Dating atau bukan (nampaknya sih buku terakhir tapi semoga saja bukan). Buku pertamanya sendiri berjudul Si Peramal Cinta (The Oracle of Dating). Dan sepertinya mau baca buku keduanya lebih dulu pun nggak masalah karena nampaknya ceritanya nggak terlalu berkaitan.
Penulis berhasil membuat saya terpikat dengan tokoh Jared dan Benoit. Jared masih saja perhatian dan begitu peduli pada Kayla meskipun mereka sudah bukan pasangan lagi. Selama ia putus dengan Kayla, ia sama sekali nggak menjalin hubungan dekat dengan cewek lain, kecuali ada seorang cewek yang berusaha mendekatinya. Saya rasa kalau sekarang kayaknya jarang (bisa jadi juga nggak ada) ada cowok seperti Jared.
Benoit membuat saya jatuh cinta karena sikapnya yang manis pada Kayla. Mungkin juga karena ia orang Perancis; di mana cowok-cowok Perancis terkenal dengan keromantisannya. Melihat caranya berbicara, saya nggak heran kalau Kayla sampai jatuh cinta padanya. Kalau saya jadi Kayla mungkin saya pun akan terpesona dan tertarik pada Benoit, hahaha.
Saya juga suka dengan tokoh Kayla di sini. Walaupun sudah putus dengan Jared tapi dia nggak bisa membenci Jared dan Kayla adalah orang yang mau belajar dari kejadian yang dialaminya. Kayla juga seorang teman yang baik karena meski lagi mengalami suatu masalah, ia tetap mau membantu teman-temannya dalam hal percintaan. Kayla merupakan role model yang baik buat para remaja cewek.
Peramal Cinta is Back adalah sebuah bacaan ringan yang bisa membuat kita tersenyum-senyum sendiri ketika membaca tip-tip yang diberikan Peramal Cinta melalui artikel-artikel yang ditulisnya dan peristiwa-peristiwa yang terjadi, baik pada tokoh utama maupun teman-temannya. Kita akan mendapat banyak sekali pengetahuan tentang cinta, seperti putus cinta, kencan online dan lain-lain.

Kayla is the Oracle of Dating. She should know everything—or at least most things—about relationships and dating. Whose better advice to turn to than her own when Jared decides they need to take a break, right? Kayla will get over Jared; she knows that if she just listens to her own relationship tips and leans on her friends for a while, things will get better. So she decides that the best course of action is to devote herself to her website and her friends. But then there’s that one gorgeous and sexy French exchange student that Kayla can’t stop thinking about. She knows she shouldn’t be going after him because there are still days left in her rebound equation for Jared! Life for the Oracle is about to get a whole lot more messy.
The Oracle Rebounds is a cute follow up to The Oracle of Dating. Van Diepen tries to spice things up by complicating Kayla’s relationship with Jared and giving Kayla’s dating website a little controversy. These new additions of Kayla’s story were moderately interesting. They ensured that The Oracle Rebounds was not going to be a repeat of The Oracle of Dating, but more importantly, they allowed for a lot of character development. I really enjoyed seeing how Kayla would respond the new challenges in her life and how she learned to handle sticky situations with grace and poise. There were definitely a couple of instances where certain elements are missing, such as the full development of a certain relationship or background information, which made some sections of the plot feel somewhat unrealistic, particularly Kayla’s brief relationship with her French exchange student. Overall, though not spectacular, The Oracle Rebounds is a fun, breezy, and still enjoyable high school read.
The Oracle Rebounds will be enjoyed by fans of its prequel, The Oracle of Dating, as well as by those who enjoyed Miss Match by Wendy Toliver, The Espressologist by Kristina Springer, and The Lonely Hearts Club by Elizabeth Eulberg.

My Thoughts: I was so excited to receive The Oracle Rebounds and I wasn't disappointed a bit. We are back with Kayla (the dating expert) and her bundle of friends. We start the book with Kayla and Jared stepping back from one another. Or more like him breaking up with her to focus on himself. So what does Kayla do? She turns to her work and the new foreign exchange student staying at her house. She starts dating him and spending lots of time with him. This is just a way to get over Jared she tells herself at first. She must stay intact otherwise the Oracle will also suffer a downfall.
First, lets say, I didn't like the new guy. I need Kayla to be with Jared, he's supposed to be her true love or at least he is for me during this book. The way Jared stares at her from afar still bring butterflies to my stomach hoping they will get back together. The exchange student goes back to his country and once again Kayla has basically been dumped so she has to get over it again. She also spends more time giving advice and starts to guest blog on another site which totally gets the Oracle bad reviews. The other site totally trashes her!
Also take into consideration, this series is a light fluffy read. They shouldn't be taken too seriously. They need to be savored, laughed with, enjoyed while sipping hot chocolate.
I also love Kayla's friends. They always make me laugh and I enjoy spending time with them. Will Kayla and Jared get back together or are they just over and friends again? Read the book to find out. I also love the articles Kayla writes. This girl knows what she is talking about!
Overall: I really enjoyed reading this one. I still liked the Oracle Of Dating a bit more because it introduced us to the storyline. I love these books, they are cute, Kayla is a very likable girl, and Jared is just awesome.

Here we are with a young adult book with no magic from me! I'm surprised myself.
I used to read books like Oracle Rebounds a lot, 2-3 years ago. I liked simple romances of teenage girls and guys and when i saw the book i couldn't resist.
The book starts with Kayla and Jared break up. Still it's difficult for me to understand why Kayla though he wanted to break up with her. It was pretty obvious he had more to say. And we see to end he indeed had some more things to say. Before be back together again, we follow Kayla's and her firends' love life. They literally live to date, it's the only thing they have in mind.
The story last as Kayla had count the rebound days for a relationship. And at every chapter we see how many days have passed. The book is small and it's moving really fast if you think how many things happened. It's a pretty weird feeling i had when i was reading it. I couldn't understand the characters..they weren't developed enough for me. You could see their actions and nothing more. New characters last only a chapter but it supposed they changed Kayla's life with their actions. And there is really nothing more than the love life of everyone. I felt like it missed something. It was kinda boring. You don't even get a good look at Kayla's family. Somewhere before the end, Kayla had some problems with her site, Oracle, so the things became more interesting and finally i could see something more from her.
Overall, the book was pretty ok. Small though. If i had read when i was around 15 i know i would have loved it but right now not so much. I guess it's for high school girls. Definetelly not boys. I can't imagine a boy read that.Hehe...And you have read so many romances, books like it look empty. At least that's me.
If anyone else, around my age, have read the book..do you believe the same? I'm really curious.

First off, I've got to thank Harlequin for letting me review this book via NetGalley and all of the other books I will soon be reviewing from them via NetGalley. I've also got to say that I was a bad book reader when I asked to review this book. I didn't check to see if this book was part of a series, OOPSIE.
However, from what I read, you don't have to read the first book, The Oracle of Dating, in order to understand this one.
The book starts out with a dramatic break-up scene that had me laughing yet empathizing at the same time, because after all, I am a teenage girl and being a teenager is my specialty.
Throughout the book Kayla tries to decide if she should "rebound" or not, which gets to be very snicker inducing due to her many failed attempts, all of which are not entirely her fault.
There is one issue that I relate VERY closely to and that is blogging. I have just started my blog, but I know how it feels to want to expand, fail at it, then succeed, and getting bad publicity is always a worry, along with a reader taking something out of context. Howevever I feel that Kayla handled her blogging crisis very maturely.
There were some issues I had with this book though, and one was the amount of understanding. It seemed to me that the characters all agreed all of the time and that irked me because no teenagers can agree that often. Also, I know that I haven't read the first book so that may be the reason why I don't completely comprehend Kayla, who has apparently only had limited dating experience, is creating a dating blog.
But all in all, this book gave me giggles, out right laughter, and at one point almost made me cry. It's definately a good relationship novel.

I was hesitant to start The Oracle Rebound because of what I assumed from the blurb. (And I lost my interest in writing a review for the first book) As I was hung up on Jared and Kayla's relationship, it was definitely a depressing moment when I found out that they were going their separate ways, and honestly, the book lost it's spark to me. I can't do this. Feeling heartbroken.
But to my utter surprise, I finished it in merely two hours, I guess some of the Oracle's advice got to me, Kayla taught me to look deeper.
If the first book got you hooked, the second book got you rooted. I got the best dating advices from a story book! This book relates well to teenagers because the protagonist herself is a teen who deals with her own problems, and that she's growing each day. I had fun reading The Oracle of Dating series because the characters themselves are just vibrant, and we get to read about diversed characters.

Love Interest : Jared, Benoit
Friends : Amy, Ryan, Sharese, Viv
Parents : Erland, Mum
Sister : Tracey (probably one of my favourite characters in the story)
I was un-depressed by the end of this book so that must have meant something right? Sequel to Oracle of Dating, a hilarious young-adult, chick-lit novel
I was delighted to learn there was a sequel to The Oracle of Dating, which I enjoyed very much. Comedic YA seems to be an endangered species these days, and this book is very well-written chick lit.
Soon after the book begins, Kayla’s relationship with her terrific boyfriend, Jared, goes on the rocks when he asks to slow things down between them. Kayla is so hurt by this rejection that she breaks up with him. For several years she has been offering practical dating advice to her friends and to her older sister, a skill that she expanded into a dating-advice website called The Oracle of Dating in the first book of this series. In order to overcome her broken heart, Kayla decides to scan through her own breakup advice from past advice columns and use it to get over Jared.
This book works both as a sequel and a standalone book. Kayla is a realistic teen, but a very special one, with lots of spunk and a very sympathetic need to not buckle under adversity but to just keep going. Her romantic misadventures as she puts her toes back in the dating water are hilarious, and, as all comedy does, the book provides an upbeat ending.

What keeps making me wonder abou this book is how is it that a 16 year old knows so mush about relationships. Even after reading and researching a teen should not be the one to give their 25+year old sister dating advice. Am i only only one who saw that fault?
This book was about a girl named Kayla who had been dumped by her boyfriend. She has a Relationship advice website. Did i mention she was 16?
So with the help of her friends she tries to get over her Ex. From helping her friends meet new people to fraternizing with the french foriegn exchange student. But everything kept leading right back to her Ex. She could not get over him, and was constantly looking for ways to forget about him. But like all teen stories about relationships, it made everyone in the book seem too weak and needy. There was a point in the book where i thought i was going to be impressed. It was mentioned how, teens are not suppose to be tied down and that relationships are not suppose to be too serious. BUT then from there it went down hill when Kayla was evidently going to go back to her Ex. Somethigs were a bit too obvious. This was one of them. Only thing i liked about his book was mostly the blog entry advice. It made sense to a certain extent.
This book i would suggest to a younger audience of say 12-15 y.old. Anybody older would get bored.

I enjoyed this book much more because it gave a bit of a more insight on Kayla and her life. Jared surprises Kayla by giving dumping her. Totally unexpected. She is in total shock and just confused. She is unsure what to do and what to say. Kayla does her best to move on, especially when a new foreign exchange student comes landing right in her lap. Can someone say rebound???
Kayla is such a strong character in this book. To me she is not perceived as a teenager. The way that she acts during a break-up, I think she handled it very well. Jared has broken her heart into pieces. She doesn't cause a scene or act crazy. She accept it for what it is and just leave it at that. She blogs a lot which helps vent out her feelings and she gets chance to lean from it as well.
What I love the most about this was the change that Kayla went through. She even say it herself in the book. She was not the same person. Even though she still over Jared, she grew the experience learning from it instead of being bitter.
Also, the way she handled the rebound afterward was good. She didn't go to far and keep the relationship simple. I admire her for acting so grown up in all of this. The questions she posed as well as the advice was once again good. In the end, I believe Kayla made the right choice.
I enjoyed this book much more because it gave a bit of a more insight on Kayla and her life. Jared surprises Kayla by giving dumping her. Totally unexpected. She is in total shock and just confused. She is unsure what to do and what to say. Kayla does her best to move on, especially when a new foreign exchange student comes landing right in her lap. Can someone say rebound???
Kayla is such a strong character in this book. To me she is not perceived as a teenager. The way that she acts during a break-up, I think she handled it very well. Jared has broken her heart into pieces. She doesn't cause a scene or act crazy. She accept it for what it is and just leave it at that. She blogs a lot which helps vent out her feelings and she gets chance to lean from it as well.
What I love the most about this was the change that Kayla went through. She even say it herself in the book. She was not the same person. Even though she still over Jared, she grew the experience learning from it instead of being bitter.
Also, the way she handled the rebound afterward was good. She didn't go to far and keep the relationship simple. I admire her for acting so grown up in all of this. The questions she posed as well as the advice was once again good. In the end, I believe Kayla made the right choice.

Kayla is back as The Oracle of Dating, but this time she is on the rebound when she and Jared break up. I couldn’t wait to hear what sort of rebound advice Kayla would dish out on The Oracle of Dating blog.
To be honest, Kayla’s rebounding experience was pretty funny. She seemed to actually DO most of the things you DON’T want to do after a breakup. Kayla goes against her own advice when she falls for an exchange student and kisses the first guy to pay attention to her at a party. Kayla is learning from her own mistakes, but in a fun and humorous way.
Kayla really throws herself into her blog after the breakup. Some of her blog posts are included and I think they have what sounds like great advice. Oh, and Kayla gets dragged into some blogger drama too. I know that can be a reality in the world of blogging, so it was pretty neat to see it included in the story.

I absolutely loved the first Oracle book and was so happy to find out at the end of the first book that there would be a second one. The first thing that struck me was that this book is called “The Oracle Rebounds�. Obviously there must something wrong with the relationship between Kayla and Jared and with Kayla being the Oracle she’s doing some rebounding of her own because of the failed relationship.
I was a little sad to see Kayla and Jared break up, just because I love these two together so much and wanted to see lots of cute and sweet scenes between the two. Kayla is heart broken by the breakup and her friends start to rally around her. Even though the breakup is Jared’s fault I found that I couldn’t hate on him because I still thought he’s a great guy.
What I love about Kayla’s blog posts is that she writes about what she what she knows. It mirrors some of the things that are happening in her life. Either it’s something that she’s experienced herself or it’s something that her friends are going through.
As with the first book, this second installment was fast paced and great fun light read. Definitely recommended if you’re a fan of the Simon Pulse romantic comedies or if you like YA romances in general.

The Oracle and her friends are back in volume two of this nice, goodhearted series. Not everything that happens is happy, but the friendships and situations are realistic, there is no violence, there are no space aliens or dragons, and maybe you get a happy ending out of it. A good read for someone who wants to get away from stress and enjoy a couple hours of happy reading.

this is the 2nd book in the series of The Oracle of Dating, and for me the rating that i gave remain the same as the 1st book, which is 2* (it's OK). although i felt that there's slightly improvement in the writing, it's not as bubbly as the first one, but it's not really significant.
when i said that there's improvement, what i mean is that the story is become more focus now. it's more "centered" into Kayla.
no longer as distracted by the clients' questions as she was, which actually make me think that I'm reading a Q&A session in some teen magazine; the Kayla characters is obviously growing, but the friends figure is still like a pack of people that thrown into the story, and kept at rear. (never understood why there supposed to be a Ryan there, just to keep a good mix of not all girls? as Viv characters adding "color" to the mix?)
the main problem for me for this book, is remain the same, too many things going on and never fully developed into anything.
but i'll be wondering and intrigue if there'll be a 3rd book for the series... because the series itself is kinda growing for me, i've grown to care for Kayla and Jared characters now :)

The Oracle Rebounds is the sequel to The Oracle of Dating. After six months of dating, Jared tells Kayla that he needs to take a step back, leaving a heartbroken Kayla. Kayla's mom arranged a French foreign exchange student to take in their house for Kayla to be able to move on fast.
I think, Kayla was pretty reckless when she attended a party and a she started kissing a guy, then he attempts to have sex with her. And Jared calling to check up on her. And then the French hottie enters the scene. He was dreamy, and he and Kayla obviously likes each other, until he has to go back to France.
Kayla encounters other problems like her blog was bashed by a girl she did a blog tour and then... things were worse. But in the end, all was well. And Kayla and her friends were to be featured in a magazine.
Kayla's pretty liberated, and as the conservative type, I did not like her as well. And Jared, oh, how I wanted to punch sense into Jared. He was stupid for leaving Kayla, and then, they'd get back together again? Why break up in the first place?
