It's been five months since author Allen Crane left York, Maine and headed south. Since then he and his dog, Frankie, have visited several cities and towns on the Eastern Seaboard, making it as far as Florida before heading north again.
In this third installment in the Allen Crane Series, Allen has rented a beach house in the town of Bygone Haven, on Natchatee Island, just off the coast of South Carolina. The first few weeks were uneventful, but then two mysterious women show up in town on the same day—both widows. What secrets are these women hiding? But more importantly, what secrets are the good people of Bygone Haven hiding?
A very good plot. I had no idea where the book was heading. The story has loads of humor covering up a major dark incident. I couldn't put the book down and would recommend it.
I read everything Riesel writes and love it all. His dialog is laugh-out-loud funny at times - you can ask my wife - and yet always advances the story. We learn more about each character from their verbal interactions. And as always, the storylines of friendship, love interest, and mystery keep you turning the page. I didn't want it to end, and I look forward to the next Allen Crane book.
Allen is a trip and what happens next is the best ride ever! Great story and characters. Finished 1 book to jump to the next. Waiting on Book 4! Praise for Rodney Riesel, like his others, this series is so much fun!
