How do you know when you’re settling in a relationship?
Hailey Ross and Logan Tate have been dating for six years. Thus far, their relationship has withstood the test of time, but when Hailey is ready for the next step, Logan is hesitant. They have had their fair share of arguments, but marriage has been on Hailey’s mind since the beginning of their love story.
While Hailey is working toward getting a ring, Logan is working toward selling a house. His priorities revolve around his new career path as a real estate agent and less on the current status of his relationship. Although Logan’s goal is to be able to financially support the life that they had been dreaming of, his views change when he realizes that Hailey may not be the one that he wants to continue his life with.
Logan and Hailey know that their future together is on the rocks, but they have invested so much time into each other. It’s hard to walk away from the person that you have spent over half a decade with, even if things are headed in the wrong direction.
Is their love for each other enough, or should they just let each other go?
I don’t like any of the characters. I do not feel attached to any of them. Most of the characters annoy me. Like Skyler and Logan. Piper and Dalton are nice I suppose but even they are cringe. The relationship between everyone is strange and I had trouble caring enough to continue reading. I feel bad rating this book so badly, but I really did not like it. Bailey Thomas other book is really good though. I really liked her first book she wrote. That is why I decided to read this book.
Ohhhh my heart! This was so hard to read because of how relatable it was. I feel like most people have been in relationships where the spark fizzled out, but continued to stay together because of used to each other they are, and that’s the central theme of this book. This dual POV was so thorough in expressing each characters emotions and inner thoughts, and the ending put a ribbon on the entire thing so no questions were left unanswered. I absolutely LOVED that! Bailey’s writing style is so beautiful and I’m so looking forward to reading more of her books in the future :)
I enjoyed this book! There were really thought out and detailed characters, good imagery, and it definitely held my interest because I read it in one day! If you’re looking for a boss lady redemption story this is the one for you!
This book is the story of Hailey and Logan, a couple who’d been together for seven years. Due to Logan’s change in careers and Hailey’s growing impatience with waiting on the life he said he was going to provide them with, their relationship is understandably under strain. They both have a decision to make: Stick it out since they’ve put in so much time, or call it quits and move on for the better?
The book should have been, “You Never Should Have Caught Me because of how unmatched Logan and Hailey seemed to be. The book starts at the tail end of the seven years they’d been together so we don’t see a lot of the happy times, but they seemed very incompatible from the start. Logan is more dependent, more into appearances, more about the status than Hailey is who appeared to be more laid back. I struggled to find how they were compatible enough to begin dating in the first place, considering they could barely stand each other throughout the story.
I went into this book fully on Hailey’s side. Like the movie “Alimony, she appeared to be handling all the finances while Logan continued to be unappreciative of the effort she was putting in and the weight she was pulling in the relationship. Logan for his part was lazy, let his mom disrespect Hailey, and he was extremely unappreciative of her, often overlooking everything he did. So I strongly disliked him, even from the beginning of the book. However, what made this book so amazing was that it is dual POV. We also got to see the events that transpired from Logan’s POV as well. My hate for him did not lessen, if anything, it made me dislike him even more, but I could also see the subtle manipulation of Hailey and how she would belittle Logan, making him resistant to her in turn and you could see how the cycle just continued until their relationship burned out. I just felt like the author did such an amazing job of creating realistically flawed characters. I think this book does a good job at discussing issues like 50/50 and what it does to a relationship, as well as the tendency for women to settle for a ring, for a marriage after so many years, even if they are unhappy overall in the relationship. It was a startling wake-up call for me since I identified so much with Hailey and what she was going through.
The one thing I found odd, or misplaced about this book was the weird flirty relationship between Hailey and Logan’s best friend. She would lust after him in a way that was quite odd, considering she never seemed the type to cheat. For his part, he’d also say really odd things to her like, “I wish I could spend all day with you when he had a fiance. I found their interactions to be weird and it threw the story off a bit because nothing was done with that in the end. It just kinda sat there as a reminder that Logan’s friend was a skeeve and a good one at that since nobody ever suspected him. But it just didn’t add much to the story
It’s probably petty of me, but I was glad to see that a year had passed and Logan still had not sold a house or gotten his own place. He was still under the clutches of Skylar, who acted so immature for her age. I wish Hailey would have completely moved on; she’d gotten a new job she loved and she adopted two pets. By the end of the story though she was still hoping Logan would want her back so she could crush him by saying no. I’d have liked her to be completely over him but I know it takes time.
Overall, this was a good book that I enjoyed reading and learned from. Certainly won’t be the last book I read of this authors!
Bailey Thomas's "You Should've Just Let Me Go" navigates the complexities of an on-the-edge long-term relationship as it tests the painful decision of whether or not to cut ties despite a long history that cannot be erased. Hailey and Logan, having spent six years together, form the epicenter of this story, Hailey now keen to proceed with marriage but Logan ever more dubious of where the relationship may head from here.
The author weaves a narrative that is incredibly relatable. Readers will find themselves familiar with the comfort and inertia that tends to trap people in relationships once the initial flame has burned out. The dual narration provided throughout the book is one of the main strengths. It makes readers deeply understand the internal conflict of both Hailey and Logan, conveying their contrasting points of view and the widening divide between them. This method of avoidance prevents both characters from being solidified as overt villains, opting instead to see two people doing their best under the limitations of a stale relationship.
The novel successfully illustrates the subtle manner in which a relationship can begin to crumble. The gradual accumulation of unstated resentments, the absence of actual communication, and the sense of just going through motions are all painted with a touch of realism. The author refuses to shy away from the painful realities of opting for comfort instead of actual happiness.
That said, the book can be emotionally taxing. Readers expecting a light romance will be swept up in the anxiety and frustration of the characters. Although the realism is to be admired, others may find the ongoing inner conflict and the gradual unwinding of the relationship a hard read. Generally "You Should've Just Let Me Go" is a moving and realistic portrayal of a relationship at its breaking point. Bailey Thomas successfully employs dual viewpoints to construct sympathetic depictions of two individuals struggling with painful choices regarding their common future. Emotionally challenging, yet thought-provoking, the novel provides insight into the complications of love, commitment, and the strength required to leave when needed.
Hailey and Logan are going through a rough patch both don’t seem to be 100 percent into this relationship but being together for almost seven years makes you ask yourself, is it worth leaving each other. Things are hard for Hailey she seems to be working so much while handling the workload at home while paying everything on her salary while Logan figures out his new career. Logan feels unappreciated not prioritized he reach his breaking point and tries to make it work along side Hailey, but is this relationship really worth saving ?
This book was a little bit different than what I usually read. It was a bit more realistic to what happens in todays day with dating. Some people stay in relationships just because they are settling with comfort instead of love and commitment. I wish I could of got a bit more on Haileys life after the breakup, she seemed to flourish while Logan did the opposite and I’m not saying he deserved it( but he did ) but I also wish I could of got a bit more on him because he thought he was doing the right thing but it seems to me that he made a big mistake but he never truly loved Hailey they way I think she deserved. He was a read flag from the beginning. Hailey fell for him at the start but then gave up after some time in the following years. In the end so some relationships aren’t worth fighting for and this book shows you exactly why you “should’ve just let go totally love how the title does go with this story. This was a fast read, read it in a day just trying to see what was going to happened to this couple in the end I wanted something but the author gave us a great realistic ending 🖤🤍p.s it might seem that I’m on Haileys side but I’m not on either I feel like they both gave up on the relationship and should of parted ways years before this heartache but what Logan did after was messed up so I’m a bit on her side🤭
This was a diligent read for me. I finished it out of curiosity and hope that the characters would finally wake up; both the main characters were rather irksome and I was unfortunately tempted to just stop reading. Maybe this was the goal, but they were all over the place. Neither seemed to have much common sense, and whenever there was a flash of maturity, in the next sentence or paragraph they'd totally contradict themselves and justify it with some self-serving logic. The miscommunication trope is not a fave of mineand it was grating to read continuous issues that could've been cleared up with simple conversation. They both made a lot of assumptions instead of just communicating. Hailey was desperate and delusional and a pushover, willingly letting Logan use her like he did while making excuses for him. And Logan was inconsiderate and a little spineless. And for Ivy to be such a point of contention early on, I noticed she was barely mentioned again; that was surprising, considering how important she supposedly was to Logan. It would've been interesting to see Skylar's reaction to her.
I know these characters were young but I hope that isn't meant to be the justification for how they dealt with things. The ending was kinda anticlimactic for me... Logan seemed no different than at the beginning of the book and Hailey wasn't much better. Due to how often they contradicted themselves throughout, I didn't believe her parting sentence at all. I just wish there had been more growth for these characters.
I’m giving this book a solid 4 stars because it was an easy, engaging read that I found hard to put down. From the very start, I was completely invested in Hailey’s character. I absolutely loved her—she felt real, relatable, and I found myself rooting for her throughout the story. Her determination and emotional depth really drew me in, and I was on her side the entire time.
The romance itself was sweet, though the spice level is on the lower side. There’s a bit of a forbidden workplace romance element that added an interesting layer of tension, even though the focus was more on their emotional connection than on steamy moments. I appreciated how the book balanced that, keeping the romance grounded while still feeling compelling.
The dual POV worked really well in giving us insight into both Hailey and Logan’s thoughts and struggles. I particularly enjoyed seeing Logan’s internal conflict, especially with his career taking precedence over his relationship. It really gave me a better understanding of why things felt off between them, despite the love they clearly shared.
While the story was more of a quick, feel-good read, it didn’t lack emotional depth. It’s the kind of book you can breeze through in a couple of sittings, but still find yourself thinking about afterward. If you enjoy character-driven stories with emotional tension and a bit of workplace romance, this one’s definitely worth picking up.
You Should’ve Just Let Me Go : Bailey Thomas Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the 2nd self-published novel by Indie author Bailey Thomas.. and I’m so mad at myself for not reading it sooner! I really liked this book!
So, the book is Dual POV. It follows main characters Hailey and Logan in their relationship, or lack thereof. They were in a long-term 7 year relationship. Hailey is thinking marriage, but also finds multiple things she dislikes about Logan. Logan’s mind is far from marriage, and he has a lot of complaints about Hailey. Honestly, I hated Logan. I really wanted to like him at first, but he has a lot of growing up to do before he is in a relationship with anyone. Poor Hailey.. she has some growing to do as well, but she also needs to value herself a lot more than she did in her relationship with Logan.
The book shows how each character grows and changes after the break up. I would have to say the only thing I’m sad about is I wanted to see more of Hailey’s story after the break up. We got a snapshot of the year after the break up, but I didn’t want it to end. I wanted that happy ending love story for Hailey (who cares about Logan, right? 🤣)
Hailey Rose and Logan Tate have been dating for six years, yet somehow, their communication skills haven’t quite developed. No matter how much time passes, they are rarely on the same page. Still, Hailey is happy and ready to take the next step—while Logan has come to a very different conclusion.
There isn’t a single person out there who hasn’t either experienced or witnessed this kind of relationship. The spark fizzles, but they stay together out of comfort and, quite frankly, convenience.
Bailey’s writing is beautiful, and I loved how she used dual POV to highlight their vastly different perspectives. A simple date night could be magical for one and miserable for the other, and watching that dynamic play out was fascinating.
The characters feel real, flaws and all, though Logan…dude, real estate’s not your calling. Sorry, not sorry! 🤣
Overall, I enjoyed this and can’t wait to dive into more of her work.
To be honest, I didn’t dislike the book, but the back-and-forth between Logan and Hailey really made it hard for me to stay engaged. Their relationship felt like it was based more on history than genuine connection. Logan’s mom already disapproved of Hailey, he was giving her false hope, and on top of that, Logan had some narcissistic tendencies that didn’t sit well with me. The whole ex-girlfriend drama also added an extra layer of frustration. The story felt a bit immature at times, but there was a positive takeaway: it highlighted how some relationships persist not because of love, but because people don’t know any better or are afraid to move on. I appreciated that perspective.
This was my first book by Bailey Thomas, so I can’t make a definitive judgment, but I did find the writing easy to follow and relatable in a modern-day context. As a girl’s girl, I’m rooting for Bailey Thomas and look forward to seeing how her writing style continues to evolve.
You Should've Just Let Me Go by Bailey Thomas was by far the realest depiction of how a break up after a long-term relationship truly feels.
I love that the book is written in dual POV, so we get to experience how both MCs Logan and Hailey felt during the weeks leading up to and the months after their break up.
I felt so many emotions while reading this novel. For being fiction, it made me feel so many different emotions, angry, sad, downright pissed at times.
I did feel like the ending was just rushed and, therefore, a little lackluster for me, but I am happy to read that FMC Hailey has finally learned to love herself more than her feelings towards Logan.
Overall, I did enjoy Bailey's second self-published book.
I read this in a day, because I couldn't get over the emotions and perspectives written in this story. Truly good examples of both co-dependency and self love, and I adored every bit. The book was written from two perspectives, and captured so well how people can perceive the same situation so differently. Definitely thought provoking.
A beautiful story of growth. Hailey and Logan are both intensely reliable and real characters that make it easy for readers to follow and sympathize with.
I 100% recommend this to everyone. Heart wrenching, no spice , and an easy read
This book was such a good, easy read which I finished reading in a day because I struggled to put it down! From the beginning, I really loved Hailey's character. I felt that she was real and the whole way through I was hoping that things would go in her favor. This book focused on the emotional side of their relationship mostly (well, the lack of it) and how two people perceive their relationship so differently.
The petty side of me loved the way it ended, with Hailey loving herself and knowing her self-worth and Logan regretting his decision and under Skyler's thumb! I just wish that I was able to read Hailey's 'happy ever after'.
Hailey is such a character, the development of herself is so nice to see, not needing to rely on anyone like she thought, and finding herself the further into the book we got.. loved that!
Logan well hun you were a twat straight from the get go. I’m glad you realised how you fucked everything for yourself you giant tit.
Gutted that Dalton and piper weren’t in the book more, I did think something would have potentially happened between Dalton and Hailey with the way they act around each other but hey ho. Nice way to end a story with Hailey been in a good headspace and developing as she did ❤️
I enjoyed this book a lot more than the first one by Bailey Thomas. I appreciated that the FMC found herself through her struggles in the relationship she was currently in. Knowing she deserved better than to settle. Yes the breakup was hard on her of course it would be. But instead of moving on quickly like her ex she excelled at being with herself first. Which is huge. Really enjoyed the dual POV from both FMC & MMC. I’m glad that the guy got what he deserved in the end. Karma they say do be a b!
I really enjoyed this book and just like her debut novel, this book had me gripped. It follows Hailey and Logan who have been together for six years, and the cracks in the relationship are definitely beginning to show. Hailey wants to settle down, whilst Logan is very career driven. The chapters alternate between Hailey and Logan and you can see the difference in their thoughts about the relationship and where it will go. Is their love for each other enough, or should they just let each other go?
This book had a lot of good self-growth points but it was kind of just... sad? Not even sure how to put it. There was some self-discovery but not enough character growth that I felt it worth it. It ended up with no happily ever after and a lot of hurt that could have been avoided, without a lot of growth in the depth of the main characters. If you enjoy self-growth and break-up stories then you'd like it, but I'm more of a self growth, do the hard work and happily ever after kinda girl.
3⭐️This was my first book by Bailey Thomas, I wouldn’t say I disliked the book- the story addresses realistic issues in relationships of today’s society- but the characters.. I absolutely hated. I understand they were young and thought they were in love, but as a 23 year old myself, I’d expect that kind of behaviour from a teenager. But I’m not one to judge, I’m just happy they didn’t get back together!
Ps. I will definitely be up for reading her other books, I liked how this book was an quick and easy read:)
The thing about a romance book/story is that some are dreamy, gives you hope, yet this story hits close to home in so many levels. It’s not unrealistic and it’s the perfect example on how each individual perceives one another in moments where they become blindside overtime. You are able to not only read her point of view, but also his point of view leading up to the very end of this story. Bailey Thomas got me with this one.
I was definitely thoroughly entertained by these two toxic people that’s for sure, I was just hoping to see where certain storylines went to when they were presented to us. Why was Dalton the bestfriend always flirting? How come they didn’t stay friends and show up at the party or the wedding? that would have definitely added more drama lol I just feel like when the book was finished it felt unfinished, like i was waiting for something else to happen?

If you have ever been in a long term relationship with someone (romantic or friendship), this book will make you analyze what is better for you to stay or go and evaluate things. This was more of a 3.5 🌟🌟🌟. The MMC was very likable and the POV from the both main characters really gave you insights into their way of thinking.
This just wasn’t for me. I didn’t enjoy the characters at all, found them quite frustrating and I couldn’t really get over it. I also felt like the plot didn’t move along well and the writing style wasn’t my favourite.
However, please remember what didn’t work for me might work for you.
I honestly have nothing good to say about this book.
It’s not even a romance story. I kept waiting for the romance to happen but it never did and the characters are so terrible 😫 I kept hoping at some point I would start to like them but no
I can’t remember the last time I was really this invested in a book! The writing was good. Chapters were a good amount of length. Loved the dual POVs and pastels loved the ending!
I gave this 5 because of Dalton, Piper, and Hailey. Hailey became very strong at the end with everything that she was put through with Logan! Logan made me so mad throughout the entire book. He complained about everything that Hailey did for him. He was ungrateful.
Found it a bit hard to connect with the characters. Hailey was delulu and Logan was just an idiot. If it was Bailey Thomas goal to make readers frustrated with their relationship then mission accomplished. Truly, a story about not knowing what you have until it’s gone.
