Cherry Adair

Always an adventurer in life as well as writing, New York Times best-selling author Cherry Adair moved halfway across the globe from Cape Town, South Africa to the United States in her early years to become a interior designer. Now a resident of the Pacific Northwest she shares the award- winning adventures of her fictional T-FLAC counter terrorism operatives with her readers.

Cherry settled in beautiful San Francisco, where she started what eventually became a thriving interior design business. "I loved being a designer because it was varied and creative, and I enjoyed working with the public." A voracious reader when she was able to carve out the time, Cherry found her brain crowded with characters and stories of her own. "Eventually," she says, "the stories demanded to be told."

When asked why she chooses to write romantic action adventure, she says, "Who says you can’t have adventure and a great love life? Of course if you’re talking about an adventurous love life, that’s another thing altogether. I write romantic suspense coupled heart-pounding adventure because I like to entertain, and nothing keeps readers happier than a rollercoaster read, followed by a happy ending."

Popular on the workshop circuit, Cherry gives lively classes on writing and the writing life. Pulling no punches when asked how to become a published writer, Cherry insists, "Sit your butt in the chair and write. There's no magic to it. Writing is hard work. It isn't for sissies or whiners."

Cherry loves to spend time at home. A corner desk keeps her focused on writing, but the windows behind her, with a panoramic view of the front gardens, are always calling her to come outside and play. Her office has nine-foot ceilings, a fireplace, a television and built-in bookcases that will house approximately 3,500 paperback books.

"What can I say? My keeper shelf has been breeding in the middle of the night, rather like drycleaners' wire clothes hangers.

This anthology contains 3 novellas that, one way or another, involve the hero rescuing the heroine from a dangerous situation. Besides the common premise, there isn't any connection between the stories, so you can read them in any order.

Tropical Heat by Cherry Adair (3 stars)
Sam Pelton has been in love with Dr. Elizabeth Goodall since he met her 2 years ago, but she was in the middle of getting divorced from her cheating husband so he stayed away. Sam doesn't want to be Beth's "transitional lover", so he's giving her the time he thinks she needs to get over her ex. Little does he know that she's also been more than ready to get down and dirty with him since they met... When she's kidnapped (by mistake) by some stupid terrorists in Africa, Sam rushes to her rescue... and we all know what happens when Ms. Adair's H/h find themselves running for their lives in the wilderness of an African forest: sex in a tree, LOL! And after a stunt like that, they'll live HEA, of course.

I haven't read that many books by this author, but I know I can't take her stories too seriously. Her writing is definitely OTT, but as long as her H/h don't grate on my nerves, I'm willing to enjoy the ride. That said, this wasn't a bad story. Sam and Beth were OK and besides the fact that they chose the worst moments to kiss and grope each other, they weren't TSTL. As it turned out, the stupid ones in this story were the terrorists who kidnapped Elizabeth. They did all the research to find out every single detail about the doctor they wanted to kidnap, like her husband's daily routine, their baby's Day Care Center address, her mother's home address, and so on, but didn't have a single picture of hers to ID the right doctor and avoid the mistake of snatching Beth in her place! Anyway, the story was fast paced and the action was almost non stop - hey, they had to stop now and then to lust after each other, LOL - so this was an overall OK read.

Atlanta Heat by Lora Leigh (3 stars)
Mason "Macey" March knows that Emerson "Em" Delaney is Trouble with a capital T, but he can't help panting after her like a dog. They've been lusting after each other for 2 years, but somehow never acted on their feelings seriously. When she's kidnapped and he's sent to rescue and secure her, he knows his time is up and there's no more running away from his feelings for her. It's time he claimed her. After all, what's left to do when they're confined in his safe house waiting for his team to catch the bad guy responsible for her kidnapping? But can he convince her to put aside her fears and make her see they belong together?

Macey was a bit of a surprise in this story. In the previous books of the Tempting SEALs series, he came across as the ultimate bad boy with a geeky demeanor, so seeing him as a family man at heart here was strange. Nice, but jarring. As for Em, I didn't like her at all. She was spoiled and brat-ish, not to mention that there was something wrong with her brain cells. When her kidnappers hit her to shut the nonsense that came out of her mouth, I almost cheered them. That happened in the beginning of the story, and she only got worse afterwards. If Macey's anaconda Drack ate her up somewhere down the road, I wouldn't have minded.

And speaking of Drack, there was a editing problem concerning the scary anaconda: LL started the story referring to it as a "he" and switched it to a "she" in the middle of the story. Gah, just call it "it" and let it go.

Overall, I'm giving this novella 3 stars despite Em and the editing errors because I liked Macey, the action was good for such a short story, and I got to see Nathan Malone up and running after the nightmare he suffered in the previous books.

Note: Even though this story is part of the Tempting SEALs series, it's so loosely connected to it that it can be read as a standalone without a problem.

Desert Heat by Cindy Gerard (5 stars)
Police detective Seth King and Assistand DA Elena Martinez have been butting heads in the courtroom for some time, seeing that they don't always agree on the best way to serve justice. As far as he's concerned, the DA's office makes too many plea bargains and lets too many scumbags back on the streets. She doesn't see it that way, as she'll go for a plea bargain any day of the week as long as she gets to put another low-life behind bars. When they both sign up for the annual law enforcement benefict event and end up being paired at the two day Survival Scavenger Hunt in the Grand Canyon, the underlying attraction between them surfaces, with sizzling results. But there's someone out there bent on seeking revenge against Elena, and now they're running for their lives instead of scavenging the Grand Canyon for hidden "treasures". Thankfully, Seth is as smart and tough as he can be, even with a small concussion, and Elena is no wimpy damsel in distress.

Wow, I loved this story! Engaging H/h, solid plot, fast paced action, nice HEA... What's not to love? Things happen very fast - it's a short story, after all - but I felt like I knew both Seth and Elena, and I really liked them. I especially liked their sense of humor, which never felt out of place even when they were facing their most distressful circumstances. The only "complaint" I have is, I thought Elena's behavior after their ordeal at the Grand Canyon was over was a bit out of character. This might have been a problem if I was reading a full-length novel, but I'm more lenient when I'm reading short stories so I let it go. And I really enjoyed the last chapter, so all was forgiven in the end. :)

Final verdict: 4 stars (I'm bumping my rating up because I really liked CG's story.) Get this book from the library and read the last story. As for the 1st 2 stories, you can either take it or leave it.

Whew, my fingers are still smoking!! "Rescue Me" is one fiery hot anthology. This is one you won't want to miss.

"Tropical Heat" by Cherry Adair. Elizabeth is mistaken for a famous plastic surgeon and kidnapped by South American terrorists to give their 'most-wanted' torturer a new face. The last thing she expects is local teacher Sam to turn up to rescue her. Lucky, lucky her. Not just because Sam is mega-hot, but also because he's retired Special Ops and his teaching job is for spec op weaponry and high-risk situations for counterterrorist ops. He's also had his eye on Elizabeth for over a year...just waiting for her to be ready for him. Time's up!

"Atlanta Heat" by Lora Leigh. Em is the god-daughter of the SEAL Admiral and she's had the hots for SEAL Macey for a long time. Now she's been kidnapped and Macey's on the hunt. Macey has already lost a pay grade after being caught in a very compromising situation with Em by the Admiral. His orders? Rescue Em and keep her safe in an undisclosed location til the bad guys are caught. His personal orders? Screw the bad guys, screw the Admiral, and most definitely...screw Em...repeatedly!

"" by Cindy Gerard. Elena is the assistant DA. Seth is a police detective. Neither are happy when they are paired up in a charity Grand Canyon hiking scavenger hunt. It doesn't take long before the desert isn't the hottest thing going. Now if they can survive the bad guys hunting them, they may just have a chance to see if they can make this thing between them work.

Loved all three stories. Hot enough to singe your fingers!

Three very hot, action filled short stories by three of my favorite authors! There's no filler in these stories--they get right down to business with the action and romance. And some of the romantic scenes border on the erotic! I will say that Cherry Adair has a knack for getting 'very inventive', shall we say, with her H/H's sex scenes! I'm just wondering what kind of tree can support a tent in it's branches...

Fans of Cherry Adair's T-FLAC series will not want to miss "Tropical Heat"; and if you've never read the series, this would be a good one to try to see if you like her writing style. I loved the H/H in this one!

For Lora Leigh's fans, "Atlanta Heat" is a continuation of her 'Tempting SEALS' series, although this one can be read as a stand alone. I enjoyed this one a lot not only because it was a mighty hot read, but because there seemed to be less bickering between the H/H then there usually is in her other books in this series. I also loved the ending involving the treehouse, but I'm also wondering how do you get a queen size mattress up a tree?

Cindy Gerard's contribution, "", is a stand alone not related to any series, but an equally hot, action-packed read. This one probably had me on the edge of my seat the most!

There's never a dull moment in any of these stories, and fans are treated to some passionate, charismatic couples who you definitely will be rooting for! This one goes on my keeper shelf!

This little book packed a wallop of a punch. Three neat short stories--all romantic suspense, modern and action packed:

1. Tropical Heat by Cherry Adair (Story/Book #12 in her TFLAC series) was my favorite in this trio. 5 Stars. Neat characters, nicely written and HOT.

2. Atlanta Heat by Lora Leigh (Story/Book #6 in her Tempting SEALs series) was more on the erotic side of HOT. 3 Stars. This one has Nathon Malone (from earlier books) up and participating in this rescue mission, so I'm thinking we'll be seeing his story very soon. There are also mentions of all the previous main characters and their girlfriends/wives: Clint, Kell, Reno...

This short story featured Macey and Emerson. I did NOT care for Macey. The arguing between the two main characters got old. For me, this author's male hero's teeter too long on the mean side of the personality pendulum--with a sadistic twist. Also, there were parts that didn't make sense and were probably edited for brevity. One minute Macey was on one side of the room, messing with the "computers" and the next...NOT. This happened quite a few times and I had to re-read what I was reading and try to figure out what was happening. And, there was recapping....a short story shouldn't have recapping.

3. by Cindy Gerard (stand alone)
4.5 Stars. It seems like a very long time since this author has written anything new. Nice to read one of her stories. Missed her writing style. Nice! Good characters. This one was more about survival--in the Grand Canyon--and less about the hero rescuing the heroine. Two strong characters, Police Officer and Assistant District Attorney on an Survival Scavenger Hunt. ;-)

3 ½ stars Romantic Suspense Anthology

Tropical Heat by Cherry Adair 3 ½+ stars Steamy jungle lovin'!

Atlanta Heat by Lora Leigh 2 ½ stars It was just okay.

Desert Heat by Cindy Gerard 3-3 ½ stars My least favorite CG read, but still a hot, intense survivor story.

I think that averages about 3, but I'm bumping my rating to 3 ½ stars for the Cherry Adair and Cindy Gerard novellas.

NOTE: this review is for Lora Leigh's novella only...I haven't yet read the others.

I'm kinda of two thoughts on Leigh's novella...thinking of it as just a simple short story, I enjoyed it. But if I take into consideration that it was part of a series, I was disappointed. For several books, readers got to know Macey...he got a fair amount of face time in several books. And I was looking forward to reading His story...but to see it shoved into about 110pages...well, it didn't really work for me. I wanted more.

Also, maybe it was just me, but I didn't think the way Macey was portrayed in the novella fit Macey's previous characterization. I went into reading "Atlanta Heat" expecting bad boy Macey, who is a little bit lecherous, a little bit geek, and a whole lot Alpha...and instead he came off kinda, I don't know, sappy in a way. It's like one minute Macey is a total playboy, and then in this book right from the start, he's totally gone over Emerson. It didn't work for me.

But all in all, not too bad of a read. I was just expecting something different out of it.

Desert Heat by Cindy Gerard

I love Cindy Gerard and this novella is just wonderful, great H/h, Grand Canyon location, and MacGyver solutions. All elements that make a great story. This is a novella and has a lot packed in a small page count.

Elena Martinez is an ADA in Flagstaff, Arizona and has made some enemies and not made many friends in the police department. As part of a benefit fundraiser Grand Canyon hike and scavenger hunt she is paired with not a friend, Seth King, a Flagstaff detective. These two may not like each other but there is a sexual spark that can't be ignored. Also not to be ignored are the two baddies that have tracked them into the Grand Canyon and are focused on doing them great bodily harm.

A rescue mission turns steamy in 's Tropical Heat as counter-terrorist operative Sam Pelton hustles a small-town GP from the military/terrorist through the thick African jungle.
This was a pretty straightforward RS novella...Boy likes girl, but said girl is going through a divorce, so boy hangs back in fear of being the rebound lover, but when girl gets kidnapped, boy doesn't hesitate in taking a trip into the middle of Africa to rescue her and win her heart in the progress...Nothing much to say, really.

Another rescue mission turns steams (and squeeze-deadly) in 's Atlanta Heat when a Navy SEAL and the woman he's been lusting for for the past two years are forced to share very close quarters.
This one was almost the same as the first novella of this bunch, except the setting was in Atlanta and instead of the jungle the pair was stuck in a "panic room", there was an anaconda though.
Out of the entire cast I liked Drack, the pet snake the most. Macey wasn't my favorite hero, he was a just a tad too much of everything, while Em...I just wanted to slap her. Hard. Many times. Yeah, the conflict was there, the steam was there...It just fell a little flat.

In 's Desert Heat a peaceful, charity-oriented hike through the Grand Canyon turns deadly when an old drug-lord decides to exact his vengeance on the DA and the cop that sent his boy to prison.
Now, this was a nice respite from the whole, "we were rescued, let's get in the sack". Well, Elena and Seth did, eventually get in the sack, but the rescue didn't come until the end...I liked Elena and Seth together, they truly made quite a pair, and with their shared sense of humor they really grew on me.
The romance did seem a bit rushed, but those were extraordinary circumstances after all. I appreciated Elena's backbone, unlike the other two heroines in this collection (one was afraid of birds and the other of snakes and the authors went into quite a discourse on those fears), she at least gave the impression she wasn't scared of anything. She sucked it up and moved forward...Well, in the end, she turned up to be as much a coward as the next gal when faced with the possibility of having her heart broken. Oh well, we can't have everything.
By the end I had a goofy grin plastered on my face, though. A cute finish to a good story.

OK, I got and read this book mainly for Lora Leigh's "Atlanta Heat" which is the last story in her "Tempting Navy SEALs" series. Which is the first story I read out of it.

I was a bit disappointed with this short story/novella because I was really looking forward to Macey March's story and I think she did it a disservice by making it a short one.. The writing seemed a bit rushed with no buildup. I would have to say it's my least favorite in this series! :-(

Now I did read the other two stories Cherry Adair's "Tropical Heat" and Cindy Gerard's "Desert Heat". Again since these are short stories there is no buildup to help with the story. Both of them read as they are part of a series, maybe?

CHERRY ADAIR

“Tropical Heat

When Dr. Elizabeth Goodall is kidnapped and held captive in the African jungle, her only hope for rescue is counterterrorist operative Sam Pelton. But to escape from a brutal warlord, they must confront a powerful attraction that could prove more treacherous than the wilds of the jungle

LORA LEIGH

Em Delaney has wanted bad-boy Macey March for as long as she can remember. But as a Navy SEAL under the command of her overprotective godfather, Macey is off-limits to Em…until a kidnapping attempt forces them to share tantalizingly close quarters—and a forbidden desire.

CINDY GERARD

I actually read all the stories! An achievement for me lately.

In Tropical Heat, you have a teacher who is a government spy and a doctor who wants to truly live her life with adventure. Dr. Elizabeth really should have paid attention when Sam said don't go to a war torn country for a doctor conference but the lovely doctor is sick of being bored. What I really enjoyed in this novella is the doctor perseverance, she holds it together when the rest of us would have died. And the hero stays focused even though he is having a hard time maintaining his distance from the doctor. I plan to read more of Cherry Adair's work.

Next is Atlanta Heat which was equally fun. Em and Macey are just fun. The bicker like they have been together forever which is always the sign of a couple meant to be. Em doesn't like to be ignored and Macey wants her but is determined to try to keep his career which he loses if her gets involved with Em. Everything is tossed out the window when Em ends up kidnapped. Macey of course has to go get his woman. Nobody messes with her but him! Awww, it's just so damn sweet. This is Lora Leigh's story and I'm very familiar with her work.

And we end with Desert Heat. I couldn't get over the fact that they decided to go on a hard core hike at the Grand Canyon. Anyway, these two are seriously at each other's throats. Apparently that's just covering some intense attraction which is seriously building until bad guys enter the picture. But to say anymore about the story gives everything away. This was my least favorite story of them all, but that's because of the hiking. That just didn't work for me.

ATLANTA HEAT
BY: LORA LEIGH

This is Mason "Masey" March's HEA story. Masey is the ultimate bad boy of the Durango Team. He doesn't handle authority well and that is why he is still Lieutenant. He is a pain in Admiral Hollaran's side. He is also after the Admiral's goddaughter Emerson Delaney. He knows that she is way out of his league but his heart is set on keeping her forever. Masey is a nerd and a Navy SEAL. He is big and strong and tough. He is also stubborn and loyal to a fault as we have seen in the previous books. He will do anything to protect those he sees as friends and family and that includes Emerson. I like Masey a lot.

Emerson has longed for a family and love all her life. Her parents never knew how to handle her when she was a child. Because of the distance her parents kept between them she has learn to live by herself and never accept love from anyone. Emerson is very intelligent and compassionate and thinks that Masey is just about perfect. She is afraid to take that step to winning him though.

This is a very nice story and it deals with getting rid of another of Sorrell's spies. While a story like this is never long enough. Mainly because we don't get to read about the development of the relationship between the main characters this story is pretty complete. As always the sex is steamy and Masey is a gentle sensuous lover that show Emerson that she has never had anyone satisfy the way Masey can. I enjoyed the story and it was a good end to the series if there is such a thing.

Great Anthology and well both the money!

1st Story: I like Cherry Adair and have read most of her T-Flac series. I got bored with the last couple so haven't kept up with the latest going ons, but this short story was really good and makes me think that maybe I need to re-think and order the last couple books I don't currently own.

2nd Story: I honestly got this book because I wanted to read the continuing series by Lora Leigh (I have read just about all of her books and love them all) and I must say I was not disappointed!!! The story was Great all be it to short. I have been wanting Macey to get his woman for a long time and this book did that but again I would have loved to have had his story "a regular book" instead of a short story! That said the story was wonderful...And I can't wait for the next one!!

3rd Story: This was the 1st story I've read by Cindy Gerard, but I must say she did a great job with this short story!!! I loved it. The story is wonderfully suspenseful and I liked the DA and Cop character's dialogue. I think this author may be one I will be adding to my favorite list.

Collection of 3 romantic suspense novellas, only OK for me. 3 stars to the 3rd story, Desert Heat by Cindy Gerard. This was a stand-alone story, D.A./cop on the run from bad guys. Decent story, unrealistic rushing/progression of the romance. 2.5 stars to the 1st story, Tropical Heat by Cherry Adair. Apparently this goes with her T-Flac series, and since I have not read any of those, I was a bit lost with character background. Liked the guy, didn't like the girl. Maybe if a guy you know shows up to save you from the bad guys, has all the gear and seems competent, you should just go along with him instead of questioning his every move. 2 stars to the 2nd story, Atlanta Heat by Lora Leigh. Also part of a larger series, Tempting Seals, which I haven't read. I never got into this one, couldn't follow what was happening with the characters. Didn't like the stuff with his snake at all (a real snake, not a trouser one). I would not have bought this book if I'd known 2 of the 3 stories were part of other series and not stand-alones. Perhaps if I read those other series one day, I could come back to this and get more out of it.

Three books in one: Tropical Heat (Cherry Adair)
This was my first Cherry Adair read. It inspired me to read the rest of the T-FLAC series. It was fast paced and hot!

Atlanta Heat (Lora Leigh)
Another in the Tempting SEALs series. I liked it more than some of the others. Probably because it was short and fast paced. The others in the series sometimes felt like they were dragging and I got annoyed with the heroes. Macey finally gets the girl in this one.

(Cindy Gerard)
I've enjoyed all of the books I've read by Cindy Gerard and this one was no different. I liked both the main characters and the action was exciting and well written. Fun and another hot one!

I got this book because of Cindy Gerard and am glad I did...I'll be reading more of her work and Cherry Adair. Lora Leigh I'm on the fence about since her other books were so-so.

Okay...I saw this one many times at the store, but opted for another book every time...then I find it at the used book store where I have like a million credits.

I, of course, read the Lora Leigh story first. It was very similar to another story a read awhile ago by some other author (I think, blending shorts together can be a problem)...but I still really liked the forbidden fruit theme on the military love (i.e. Commanders daughter, god-daughter...yadda yadda).

Cherry Adairs story was last night's read...and I really enjoyed her. I don't believe I have read anything else by her, but I will have to look her up at the used book store.

Cindy Gerard I discovered in another anthology and really liked. I picked up 4 of her FL books at the same time as this one (since they were in stock)...will be starting a book in her bodyguard series next.

If you love some suspense with your lovin' and have just a evening...pick up this anthology and spread it out over a week. Enjoy!

Emerson & Macey were white hot together, this short story was executed perfectly. The last story "Desert Heat" I give 4.5 stars. Elena & Seth were off the chain, their story in my opinion had the best intrigued when it came to the bad guys involved, and they had the sweetest, sexiest, and most hilarious ending to me out of all the stories. Over all I give this book 4.5 STARS. All authors did an excellent job with these short stories. They were executed properly where you got a feel for the main characters involved. An intimate understanding of what made them tick as individuals and why and how they could care for one another so deeply. The danger elimate of the bad guys was just the icing to a very delicious cake! I highly recommend this read.

I bought this a while ago and I just re-read. I think I probably bought it for the Lora Leigh story, but it was my least favorite of the three.

"Tropical Heat" by Cherry Adair

I actually remembered this one from when I first read the book. It's not plausible - sex in a tent in a tree while running to escape kidnappers. But, I like both characters.

"Atlanta Heat" by Lora Leigh

When I first discovered this author, I read a lot of her backlist, including the stuff with subjects that made me uncomfortable. I'm not sure why. I liked her writing, I guess. That isn't so much the case anymore, though. This was ok. Too unbelievable, I guess. And the drama.

"Desert Heat" by Cindy Gerard

I also remember this one from the first time I read it. I liked both characters and may look for other books by this author.

Always on the lookout for a great romantic suspense, I read "Rescue Me" -- three novellas in one book by Cherry Adair, Lora Leigh and Cindy Gerard -- to get a feel for each author and to see if I'd be interested in reading more.

In a nutshell, I found Cindy Gerard's story to be the strongest of the three as far as plot and characterization are concerned. Four stars. Lora Leigh's offering was good, though I had a hard time buying into a 12-foot gun-sniffing pet anaconda that could roam free throughout the house. Three stars. Unfortunately, I just couldn't connect with Cherry Adair's novella. Her style was a bit too repetitive, her characters lacked good development and the storyline was just okay. Two stars.

All-in-all, I'll continue reading Cindy Gerard's "Black Ops, Inc." series and I might even give a Lora Leigh novel a chance.

Normally I'm not a big fan of anthologies. I'll buy them if one or more of the authors are on my "always read their books" list, but I normally end up only liking one or two of the stories and not caring for the others. That was not the case with this anthology. I loved it.

Every story was fantastic and made me want a 400 page novel instead of the short stories that I got. I picked the book up because it had a story from Cindy Gerard but I ended up loving all three stories. It even made me start reading Lora Leigh and Cherry Adair books. I hadn't really read any of the books before this but now they are two of my favorites!

I can't rave enough about this anthology. BUY IT! BUY IT! BUY IT!
