CRACK THE CODE AND YOU'LL SAVE LIVES...BUT KNOWING IT EXISTS COULD GET YOU KILLED.
When two American embassies in northern Africa are bombed, CIA operatives, Ridley Fox and Nita Parris, are assigned to track down the perpetrators. However, when their top asset is killed in a failed op, the agents suspect that there may be a new threat. Their search for the truth puts them on a collision course with a powerful multinational—which will go to extreme lengths to bury its criminal activities. However, the agents soon learn that someone with a personal vendetta against that company not only knows their secrets, but will expose them in a way that could result in the largest single-day attack against America.
Russell Brooks is the author of the thrillers Pandora's Succession, Unsavory Delicacies, Chill Run, and The Demeter Code.
Jam Run, Russell's sequel to Chill Run, was released on March 31, 2023.
Russell has been compared to a young Robert Ludlum in the way that he wrote Pandora's Succession and Unsavory Delicacies.
After having read an excerpt of Chill Run, here's what one British reader had to say:
"If you like Elmore Leonard, you will love 'Chill Run.' Its snappy dialogue evokes 'Rum Punch' (filmed as Jackie Brown) and 'Get Shorty', and the plot carries the same tonal qualities of the Donald E Westlake thriller 'The Hunter' (filmed as Payback). As ever with Brooks, you can expect meticulous plotting and surprising twists. And, as with 'Pandora's Succession' and 'Unsavory Delicacies,' the end will have you going straight back to the beginning to ride the rollercoaster again." -.
Russell is also a former Indiana Hoosier Track Champion and Canadian Track Team member in the 100 and 200 metres. He has written several essays on his blog, The Big Picture, one of which was published in the online Op-Ed section of the National Post in early 2009. He has also produced his own poetry/novel-themed show, The Russell Show, on YouTube. He currently lives in Montreal, Quebec.
This is one fast, swooping, roller-coaster ride of a read!
Fox and Parris's latest assignment is to find out who is behind the bombing of two American embassies in North Africa. When their top asset is killed, they suspect there's another threat. Trying to get to the heart of the matter gets them into direct conflict with a multinational company which will do whatever it takes to hide their dirty dealings. As they race from one situation to another, it soon becomes clear that there is someone else aware of what they're up to and who will go to extreme lengths to expose them and cause a massive attack on America, bigger than ever before.
Fox and Parris are CIA operatives who always have each others backs - even when they're not really sure what the other is up to. This is fast-paced, action-packed and not like anything else I've read up until now. Be very careful not to let your attention drop or you're bound to miss something exciting! I've thought hard about how to review this without giving anything away and the best I can do is to liken it to a mix of Mission Impossible and Die Hard with the fear generated by 9/11. Yes, it really is THAT good. One thing leads to another from beginning to end and there is never a dull moment! This is my first foray into this series and if you are a reader who loves lots of action and speed, then this is definitely one for you. Highly recommended and definitely deserving of all five sparkling stars!
The Demeter Code - Review by Martha A. Cheves, Author of Stir, Laugh, Repeat; Think With Your Taste Buds; A Book and A Dish
The grounds surrounding the cottage had every kind of electronic surveillance and anti-trespassing device imaginable, including a German shepherd named Roosevelt. If anyone were to be able to get within thirty years of the house without being detected, there was a chance that the CIA would recruit them. Even if anyone managed to beat the surveillance and thought of shooting through the windows with a sniper rifle, the one-and-a quarter-inch polycarbonate bullet-resistant windows would present a challenge. And if the sniper were to think of attacking at night, they'd also have to content with the blinds being closed. In addition, the house had live-in operatives who anyone would've assumed were just the average elderly couple spending their retirement years living in the country. Although they may not appear to present a danger to anyone, the so-called retired couple that a few people knew as Dennis and Glenda, were well versed in handling any kind of firearms. They both came form the previous generation of spies who first cut their teeth in the business when they worked at the Moscow Station during the 1980s.... Now that is a safehouse! And that is just the place Ridley Fox feels safe depositing his "asset" to keep her safe until all is clear for her to come back out into the public.
Ridley Fox, a former Joint Task Force 2 Warrant Officer, has joined back up with Dr. Nita Parris on a mission far more bizarre than in Pandora's Succession. As I read The Demeter Code, I came up with many guesses as to what the Code was, what it represented and who was behind it. Turns out that I was wrong in all of my guesses. This book scared me, it gave me cause to stop and take a good look at the world today, realizing that this could actually happen and it made me thankful that we do have security in line to prevent these events from happening, I hope. This book may be filled with action, murder, suspense, espionage, and all those things that most men seem to love in a book but it's so well written that I recommend it to all readers. As with the book before this, Pandora's Secret, I couldn't put this book down. This is one writer that I plan on following through his books.
It's not often that I read novels full of espionage and politics. I'm extremely picky about those that I do choose to read. That being said, Ridley Fox is one character I'll always happily come back to. I first met him in Pandora's Succession, and quickly fell into step with his complex personality. In The Demeter Code he's back for more. A little more rough around the edges, a little less willing to play by the rules, and once again caught up in a mission that extends far beyond what he could possibly imagine.
Brooks writes this tale on a global scale. I followed Fox and he traveled the world, tracking down informants and constantly putting himself in harms way. Being completely honest, this isn't a light read in the least. If you're an avid reader of thrillers, it might be a little easier to keep up. I found myself reading this book very carefully though. It took me extra time to dissect the overlapping plot lines, catch up with the large cast of characters, and keep abreast of all the secrets being revealed. This is a well crafted novel, but it reads in a way that assumes you're used to this type of story. It took a different kind of attention for me to finish, but I didn't mind. I was more than happy to follow along.
I think the thing I've always liked most about these books is that Ridley Fox and Nita Parris complete one another so perfectly. Fox is the one who goes underground, assuming identities and creating important connections. Parris is the intel and scientific mind. She's just as fierce as Fox, but she chooses to use her talents to help him get what he needs. There's always intelligent banter between these two, perhaps even a bit of spark, but the fact remains that they're two halves of the same whole. Keeping up with them as they tried to figure out the Code was a lot of fun.
My only complaint, and it's a small one, is that this story is much more technical than where I first met Ridley Fox. As I said, it took me a lot longer to finish it than I anticipated because I really had to buckle down and read carefully. Still, the action was plentiful, the twists well executed, and I really can't be too upset. Just be warned that this is a story you're going to want to settle in for. It will sweep you up, and you'll find yourself unable to stop reading once you've started.
The Demeter Code is a tale with many intersecting plotlines, a complex ensemble of characters, and an intriguing, sometimes scary take on modern industry and politics. A multi-national thriller, with multi-national businesses, spies, terrorists and more on the case, while agents branch out on their own, bosses won’t listen, secrets won’t be told, and horrors might run all too close to home, it’s a long book that demands careful reading to keep all the plotlines in place.
Detailed bedroom scenes lighten the tone or deepen the characters, complex fights offer blow-by-blow realism, and carefully explained science sticks to the plot (though readers may find a few holes). Cool apps give a nicely futuristic appeal; fashion conscious spies keep the images real; and long digressions make sure the reader knows where the story will be going. The final premise is more intriguing than convincing, but perhaps that’s just as well... best not to let the bad guys know all the details of how to get to us.
The Demeter Code is a long novel, balancing complex and detailed explanation with fast and furious action, and ending with a similarly long list of fascinating resources for more information. The characters are fun and there’s something for everyone in this blend of romance, politics, science, technology and spies.
Disclosure: I was given a free eARC and I offer my honest review.

I highly recommend this series
I happily endorse this story to any and all who are looking for a thriller enjoyable read and a completely different experience than anyone could imagine on their own. Spy, suspense, romance, and so much excitement. World wide fast-paced activities from beginning to end. I highly recommend Russell Brooks books.
Posted first to Blog Critics as Book Review:'The Demeter Code' by Russell Brooks.
Constant rumors and theories keep the world on edge with thoughts of pandemic horrors that could destroy everything as we know it. From global warming, to asteroids, plagues, germ warfare and numerous other speculations there seems to be a great deal of fear with limited answers.
In The Demeter Code by Russell Brooks, we follow the exploits of Ridley Fox and Doctor Nita Parris as they become involved in the chase for an elusive code. Having already been put to the test and putting one possibility of widespread death and panic to rest, they are now following the leads of some thirteen deaths involving soldiers. There is something very strange going on and with their background they are the perfect pair to take on the challenge.
As the possibility of another weapon of terror comes to play, they must be spot on their game. Even the slightest error could cost them their lives as well as the lives of untold others. From the beginning the danger is palpable, and both Ridley and Nita find themselves working together –yet separately to follow the clues and stop the code from reaching those with the most to gain. Can they work their skills to stop another terroristic action before it is too late? Already many have died and the panic is just beginning.
Brooks has done a great job of giving us something that has teeth and creates fear in his arsenal of thugs willing to do what it will take to win at all costs. His characters of Ridley Fox and Doctor Nita Parris only grow as they come together one more time to save the country. They are dynamic, smart and skilled in many fighting techniques. From the beginning there is action and you are immersed into the game quickly and intelligently. The interplay between the two is interesting, and there appears to be a bond that may stretch beyond the action of their work. Yet you are constantly guessing as they work mostly independent of the other with just the right amount of connection to keep you guessing.
Russell takes the possibility of death of a large scale and develops a strong set of bad guys that seem more then capable of pulling it off. Yet Fox and Parris stand in their way and become a threat that must be addressed. We follow them as they do what they can to neutralize their protagonists but to no avail. As bullies, their protagonists constantly underestimates them–a mistake that is soon rectified.
If you enjoy action packed suspense and provocative characters you will enjoy this work. This is the third installment of Ridley Fox and Doctor Nita Parris working as a team and as with his first work Pandora’s Succession he is spot on with the interplay. He has a way of creating their characteristics that help you see them as heroes, and yet the flaws just make them more human.
This would be a great book for your library, and the character team of Ridley Fox and Doctor Nita Parris seem to be one that will come back again and again. There is a great deal of excitement and likability about them that will keep you looking for more.
My first book by Russell Brooks, given to me free in return for an honest review. It did take me a little while to get into the book as various characters and situations were introduced, some of them quite diverse and disconnected, but their purpose and involvement became clearer as the book progressed. The book has a very complex plot involving various American and worldwide agencies, power hungry businessmen, greedy politicians and members of the armed forces, and bio terrorists led by someone who turns out to have a very interesting background. The book revolves around Ridley Fox, a very special agent, Dr. Nita Parrish, elite soldier and scientist, and Katy Sparks, sacked for doing her job in Afghanistan as an examiner of food supplies for the army; all of them backed up by a computer specialist, Dewan, whose abilities are so important to the flow of the action. There is plenty of action, some of it quite violent and some very frightening if translated into real life - hijacked school children and blackmailed suicide bombers being but two. Russell Brooks has done a great deal of research ( see his bibliography at the end ) and gives very clear explanations involving biochemical developments and items of weaponry, both of which are vital to the development of the plot. Ridley is quite anarchic, always following his hunches, many of which are correct, but in so doing raising the hackles of those supposedly giving him his orders. Parrish brings her scientific knowledge to bear as well as her physical abilities, and Katy just tries to keep her head down and survive! It is a rollicking read, a real page turner with a realistic scenario that is frightening in its concept.

There's a terrorist, corporate espionage, and undercover agents galore. What's not to love?
We're back again with Ridley Fox and Nita Parris, doing what they do best: Trying to solve a ridiculously "out there" case between Fox's undercover skills and Parris's science-based brain. This time, people are turning up dead, and it all leads back to a major terrorist the U.S. has been targeting for a while. Problem is, he's hard to get to, so they need Fox to once again assume an identity and try to get close to him. To do this, Fox travels all around the world to track down people and obtain information, and we once again get the chance to see just how many languages and other skills he's learned over the years. Meanwhile, Parris has her hands full trying to protect her newest asset, a whistle-blower within a large corporate operation. The two meet up to help one another, and adventure and hilarity both ensue.
This book picks up a little while after the events of Pandora's Succession, and the characters are just as great. I found myself not wanting to put it down, and kept telling myself "Just one more page." Before I knew it, I was going to be late for work! It's a gripping, edge-of-your seat tale, and it just takes you further and further down the rabbit hole of what this case is all about. I can say, I didn't see quite a few things coming, and I love when an author can blindside me like that. Great sequel!!
This book is based around Fox and Parris, two CIA operatives. A group of terrorists acquire a biological weapon that they are set to release in America. This is very similar to a storyline from 24, so this made me super excited about the book!
I wasn't sure how this book would work considering it cannot be like 24 where you watch the characters. However, the book was still action packed and suspenseful and it really was a total page-turner. In TV series, I'm always dying to watch the next episode and this was similar in that I always wanted to read the next chapter.
Russell has a really great writing style and I understood everything that was going on, even though it did get complicated at times. Russell and the lead characters explained everything really well and it meant there was no confusion.
I've read a couple of books in this same genre and it always ends up taking me much longer to read. However, I read this one in only a couple of nights because I could not put it down.
This is actually the third book in the Fox and Parris saga, but don't let that put you off as I haven't read the first two and still totally understood everything that was going on. I am, however, now going back to read the first two because if they are anything like this one, I know I am going to love them!
The Demeter code is a suspenseful mystery and crime story. The third book is series and begins with Ridley Fox and Nita Parris being assigned to find out why two American embassies in northern Africa have been bombed. Things turn worse when one of their top assets is killed and the couple realized that there are more hidden agendas at play. The author does a great job enticing the book creating a very thrilling and mysterious version of an action adventure story. It is intelligently put together and I found its dynamic to my liking.
I believe contrary to what I initially thought is going to be the case, the story was pulled together by the set of bad characters that were put together. If you are into anything like the Hollywood adventure movies, you will like this one.
Although the book made sense without me reading the previous two versions, I still think it would have been best had I started from the beginning.
I recommend this book to mystery thriller readers.
Was an excellent adventure, plenty of action, and made me think that this is actually happening in the world now; we just don't see/hear about it. Cheers to Russell Brooks for a REAL page turning escape!
The Demeter Code is the third in Russell Brooks Fox and Parris series, but I found it worked well as a stand-alone novel. His use of multiple perspectives works well at times, though I found the swirls and eddies of time distracting. The repetition of the story line within those eddies was also frustrating. For instance, in one chapter, Fox is doing his own thing while on a phone call with Parris in which she gets pulled over by state troopers. The next chapter, in Parris’s POV, circles back to a time before the phone call. The reader then follows her story and finally again reads about her being pulled over by the state troopers. Early in the book, there is mention of Fox’s training in wilderness survival which is repeated later in the novel. It struck me as I was reading it that the second description was a nearly word-for-word reiteration of the first. I also found the sex scene gratuitous. There didn’t seem to be enough sexual tension between Fox and Sparks, either before or after their sexual encounter, to warrant the scene.
That said, The Demeter Code is a tale with multiple intersecting plotlines, a complex cast of characters (I was thrilled to see a woman as head of a head of an American spy organization), and an interesting take on modern politics and the military-industrial complex. The plot has plenty of twists and turns, always unexpected.
Note: I was provided a copy of this book for review.
The first thing to say about this story is that it is filled with the unexpected and nothing is as it seems. The writing is extremely clever and captivating, and Brooks fills it with numerous surprises. For a story that seems exaggerated and action packed it actually remains quite realistic both in dialogue and events. The characters are also realistic and Brooks demonstrates great knowledge and understanding of government agencies and their practices.
The concept is fascinating and highly possible in real life which adds to the excitement. The fast paced story is not rushed but it still manages to capture the intensity of the situations and the urgency in the unfolding events. The way Brooks writes makes the scenes play in your mind like a movie; the writing is clear and explained well but not overly so either.
The use of multiple perspectives allows a great chance at understanding and capturing the wider story, while still withholding key details. Every point of view is also a great chance to get an insight into characters minds and personality, villain or hero alike. Brooks manages to express who the characters are through their actions and their thoughts, and it offers a great chance to understand who they are without it needing to be directly addressed.
These multiple points of view along with the retelling of overlapping events work exceptionally well and they are all brought together and cleverly connected in a way you didn't know they were connected. Brooks makes use of these numerous viewpoints to cover all the angles which adds to the completeness of scenes and events, and it also adds a lot more to the story than just characters recapping everything to one another and not being able to experience it alongside with them.
There is no doubt that Brooks has written a gripping story that brings together a wonderful narrative that explores real life possibilities coupled with an execution that is both mysterious and thrilling, and one that ends up going in directions you never even imagined.
A longer version of this review was posted on my blog
Do you enjoy spy thrillers? If so, then perhaps this book should be next in your reading queue. Brooks delivers a whirlwind adventure with agents Ridley Fox and Nita Paris, whisking his audience across the world and back in the rush to prevent an attack on American soil. Readers may be familiar with Brooks' writing style from Unsavory Delicacies, a trilogy of short stories designed to introduce newcomers to the prose of which Brooks orchestrates his masterpieces. Brooks has been repeatedly compared to Robert Ludlum in regards to his ability to create suspense in an intricate web of tales and raise the heart rate of his audience with few words.
Brooks writes with a descriptive yet straightforward voice, guiding the reader along the journey yet keeping enough moving parts in play to prevent the reader from guessing ahead. With an attention to detail in the everyday and a keen observance of the average person, Brooks creates a life-like portrayal of the world, including its darker aspects. Not straying from authentic portrayals of his characters with gritty details and foul language, it seems as if Brooks did not create the characters, but simply put them into words. While some writers drag on scenes as if it were a monologue for the reader to comprehend in the background while the events played out in slow motion, Brooks skips the pomp and circumstance and cuts straight to the matter - with events in action as quickly as one can read the text, much like how an action/adventure event would play out in reality.
In all, without giving away any spoilers to the book, Brooks does a superb job in honing his craft, and while he has improved greatly from his earlier works, being evident in this book, he also shows a continued room for improvement, which can mean only one thing for his followers: it will only get better from here, and as an end result, and the best is yet to come. Stay tuned to this author to keep your hearts beating fast and sweat in the brow...
Disclosure: I was contracted to write an honest review in exchange for a reviewer copy of the product. The opinions stated in this review are solely my own.
It starts with action, it ends with action. The Demeter Code is my first book that comes from this author and I must say, it is a real roller-coaster story. You don't know where it starts, you have no idea where it ends. It is so action-packed story and full of surprises, and the main characters Ridley Fox and Nita Parris can easily make James Bond jealous.
So, what's the catch? The story starts with a-hell-of-a-ride. Nita Parris is in the middle of gun fire trying to save one man who is a target of killers. A guy who sells company secrets has been murdered along with his pregnant lover. Ridley Fox is on his way to infiltrate himself in case chasing the man responsible for the bombing of two American Embassies. A woman is convicted for food poisoning at the military camp in Afganistan. They are all connected, they are all involved.
Want a murder, you have it. Want an international espionage, you have it. Want an action movie on a paper, you have it. Want a suspense or mystery, just name it! Whatever you like in the thriller section, you have it here! And definitely, there is no lack of blood. Bullets are everywhere, you can almost feel them while reading! The story is so full of turnovers, sometimes it is hard to follow. One thing I can say for sure, it is addictive. You can not miss a sentence. One line missed and you are off the train.
I don't know if there is a movie based on this book, but I know one thing, it would be a kick-ass movie. For all the lovers of Die Hard, this is a book for you. A story full of adrenaline with a plot that can not be predicted. An absolute must-read for international espionage lovers.
Disclaimer: I asked the author of this book to send me a copy of his work --no one solicited this review from me. Please note: I NEVER leave 5-star reviews as they seem "contrived" in my opinion and sadly, many authors buy 5-star reviews to gain more exposure. This is a practice I do not condone, and something that affects honest authors who work hard in the hope of getting legit reviews. My views are my own, whether good or bad. Additionally, my opinion regarding those authors who purchase reviews are my own.
Although not my kind of genre, I was intrigued and have been wanting to read a Russell Brooks novel. I had a certain perception in my mind as to what kind of novel and writing style I would come across, and I wasn't disappointed. As an international spy thriller, this novel ticks all the requirements to make it an exciting, edge-of-your-seat read. In addition, and most important to someone like me who has a pet hate for typos/errors, the author shows respect for his readers and has done and right thing in presenting a well-edited and proofread manuscript so that readers don't get distracted by the many typos and bad grammar they usually come across in the many books we see these days.
Excellent plot and characterisation, Russell's novel makes a great read for fans of spy thrillers. I think we're ready to see the film now. So where are those filmmakers?
The Demeter Code is a page-turning thriller that follows CIA Operatives Ridley Fox and Dr Nita Parris in a plot line that includes placing a person into witness protection, the investigation into the death of 13 soldiers, the dealings of a multi-national company who will go to any lengths to cover-up its criminal activities, and a terrorist intent on making a bio-terrorist attack in the US. It becomes a race against the clock for Nita and Ridley to find the information they need to stop the attack, with the help of hacker Dewan.
The novel is fast and pacey. The central characters travel the globe as new information comes to light. Both are trained professionals, adept at fighting and using weapons. Ridley has the street-smarts and Nita has the scientific brain, and together they are a formidable team. The multi-stranded plot line will keep readers on their toes as the novel shifts from different characters in different countries, but it is well worth reading as the story strands come together.
I enjoyed this book, there was plenty of action and intrigue, and I particularly liked the different locations in the novel. The big question is what is next for Ridley and Nita?
I continue to read this author's books and you should know that I am a picky, picky reader. I don't have a lot of time to read so if I do, I want to make sure it's something to bother with.
I was introduced to Russell's books through a mutual friend and was skeptical at first but I was so pleased with his first book that I did not hesitate for the second, third or fourth.
The Demeter Code itself....found it fun to discover the surprises in this book. This is the 4th book I have read by Russell Brooks and he does not disappoint with his creativity, skill of story line and characters that are hard to forget. Like with all good books, I was sorry to get to The End yet I was satisfied with a full story.
I believe Russell Brooks is one of those up-and-coming and to-be-discovered authors that I look forward to continue to follow throughout his writing career. One of those we can say, "I read him when."
Read this one and if you're really curious, read his Unsavory Delicacies first, Pandora's Succession second, then this one third to complete the story line.
In the Demeter Code Ridley Fox is back working with Doctor Nita Parris attempting to find out why a man on the world’s terrorist list wants a hard drive. The hard drive and other operatives lead Fox and Parris to a newer bigger threat on America. But who and what their motives are is the biggest surprise for the agents, who must try to stop them before they kill again this time on American soil. One of the criticisms I had of Russell Brooks first book in this series, which the character of Doctor Nita Parris needed fleshing out and you learn more about Nita’s background in this book and this makes the book more satisfying. Russell Brooks took the time to research and it shows in every loving, action detail. The weapons are believable and even scary. I enjoyed reading this page turner and would recommend this book to those who enjoy a rich story with love scenes, combat and fight scenes as well written dialogue and passages.
Another action packed story involving CIA Operatives, Ridley Fox and Dr Nita Parris. The story begins with Dr Parris in a hotel in Washington attempting to move Timothy Weyland into witness protection. Meanwhile Ridley Fox is in France, having taken on the identity of David Conlon a mercenary. Both Fox and Parris are ably assisted by super hacker Dewan, who keeps in touch with both of them by earpieces. It becomes a race against time to prevent a catastrophic event, which could wipe out the entire USA. As with Brooks previous thriller, Pandora’s Succession, the Demeter Code is again packed with technical detail, and needs to be read in large chunks so as to keep up with the complicated plot. The idea of the story is both clever and terrifying. Brooks has managed to create an excellent thriller, which leaves readers imagining a what if it could really happen?
The Demeter Code is another well-done action/suspense ride by Russell Brooks, bringing back the spy team of Ridley Fox and Nita Parris (yay!). Lots of twists and turns in the adventure and tons of action.
As usual, there's attention to details with well done dialog and characters, making the story line plausible (hopefully never to be real, though). The plot is complex with surprises along the way and the threads wrapped up in a satisfying conclusion.
This subject is a departure from my current reading genre (I go through phases), but it still held my attention. And I'm looking forward to the next book.
Rating this one 4.5.
Disclaimer: I was given a free copy by the author but not pressured as to my review or rating. I just liked this book.
I received an electronic copy of this book by the author for an honest review. As I have not read the first two books in this series about CIA operatives Ridley Fox and Nita Parris, I was skeptical that I would easily be able to follow the plot. I was pleasantly surprised, however, and found the book interesting, intriguing, and engaging. There were a few places where I surmised that the author was alluding to plot arcs from the previous books. These summaries were skillfully woven into the current story, so I did not feel lost or confused at any time. I could definitely see this translated to film, as there was one thrilling moment after another. I highly recommend this book to those who like thrillers and I look forward to reading more by this author.

Ridley Fox and Nita Parris combine their talents again to save the world. This time their enemies have come up with a biological weapon the details of which show two things - - the amount of research done by the author and if you are so minded you could make one and use it. As with the first in the trilogy, PANDORA’S SUCCESSION, the action sequences just keep coming, but (No surprise here) in spite of the odds our heroes stay alive and triumph.

I have had the pleasure of reviewing all of Russell's books and am giving The Demeter Code a 4.5. It would have gotten a perfect score if certain areas of the book weren't so technical in their description. The Demeter Code is my favorite book so far as it follows Dr. Parris and Ridley Fox on a multiple continental adventure trying to save the world from bio-terrorism. In the acknowledgements you will see the great lengths that Russell went through to ensure that his book was as plausible as stop and I commend him for his work. If you like adventure, spies and intrigue you will most definitely enjoy this book.
I could not put this book down! I love a good thriller and this has definitely made my favorite's list. The action starts from the very beginning and it doesn't let up until the end. I loved how fact-paced this book was! My heart was racing through this whole book and every time I thought I had figured out all of the connections, I was thrown another curve ball.
Russell Brooks really did his research and was able to really bring this story to life through science and technology. I felt like I was reading a story that could have been ripped from today's headlines. If you're into spies, fast-paced action, plot twist and turns, and computer hacking, then I definitely recommend this book!
A complex read. Spying, mystery thriller, crime, espionage.
If you like action thrillers, spies, undercover stuff then you will love this.
It is a very complex and gripping story. You start reading this, you won't stop until you find out what the hell is gonna happen in the end. What is the The Demeter Code?
Their is a lot of...ummm... explanations. that may not be easy for some to understand. It wasn't easy. but i couldn't leave out that part either or even skip it because all the explanations are very important to the whole plot.
I am planning to read every novel that Russell Brooks has to offer after i finish the current to reads that is.
Russell Brooks brings back Ridley Fox and Nita Parris in an exciting, Action-packed thrillet. There's excellent pacing, exotic locales, a healthy dose if humor and frenetic action sequences. So for fans of 24, Robert Ludlum, Tom Cain, Brett Battles and Barry Eisler, look no further. This Spy thriller has all the right elements and a skilled writer at the helm. One can only hope that Fox & Parris return in another adventure.
