In this gripping sequel to the award-winning novel, Through the Veneer of Time, echoes of Siena’s past life lure her into a shocking indiscretion that threatens to destroy her marriage. She alone can undo the damage, but this chilling revelation is only the beginning of her battle.

1564, ULSTER, IRELAND. After Aedan’s diplomatic visit to Queen Elizabeth’s court results in his compulsory divorce and arranged marriage, Neave’s violent unraveling drives her into another man’s arms. But in seeking revenge, Neave falls into a perfect trap set by Aedan’s enemy. By the time she learns the truth, it’s too late to undo the damage to Aedan, herself, and the hard-won peace in Ulster. When despair makes her reckless, the price will be a lifetime of infamy, confinement, and isolation from what Neave treasures most—Aedan and her son.

2011, WASHINGTON D.C./DALLAS, TX. It seems like a reasonable plan—Siena finishing her final mural in D.C. while Ryan starts his new job in Dallas. But when Siena meets Ryan’s new FBI partner, an inexplicable fit of jealousy sends her on a downward spiral. To make matters worse, the present mirrors the past when her visions take a startling turn. Consumed by insecurities, Siena takes a drastic step, which proves a catastrophic lapse in judgment. When her self-fulfilling prophecy unfolds in a devastating inversion of the past, Siena’s actions could cost her the two people she most fears to lose—Ryan and their baby.

Will Siena and Ryan beat their disastrous odds, or is their marriage foredoomed?

Received as a "library-thing" giveaway, I was unaware this was a sequel to the Always & Forever debut.
Even missing the first, this was a phenomenal romantic history novel. The detail and time that must have gone into the research of Ireland in the 16th century is just amazing. Paired with a couple in modern times, even the information and details of their time is Texas is graphic and beautifully written. The emotions, betrayal and revelations were actual page turners for me, I could not stop. This was started around 6pm and read through the night.

Now, I'll need to go back and read the first, as this one plops you right into the story, but based on that I was still drawn in and followed well.
This author is going places with this series, looking forward to the next.

Into the Lure of Time picks up a couple of years after the events in Vera Bell's debut novel Through the Veneer of Time.

In the first book, muralist Siena Forte Casey connected with the past through vivid dreams and visions. Throughout the course of the novel, she learns more about her connection to the 16th-century Irish noblewoman Neave McConway through past life regression. The novel’s climax saw Siena survive a brutal assault by the devil incarnate while working on a museum mural.

Among the verdant rolling hills of Ireland, Neave McConway, daughter of a noble house in 16th-century Ulster, Ireland marries her love, Aedan, the King of Tyrone. For a while, they share halcyonic days…until the threat of Aedan’s enemies presses on them. Like Siena, Neave suffers a horrific experience that changes her life forever.

In Into the Lure of Time, both Siena and Neave struggle with the complex and complicated emotions and situations in the aftermath of their assaults.

For Siena, her relationship with Ryan is tested as he works in Texas while she must remain behind in Washington D.C. The lovely woman continues to reconcile with her assault, but she suffers from PTSD and finds solace only in her dreams. Jealously vibrates beneath the surface, causing her to commit an unimaginable act with the potential to forever ruin her relationship with Ryan.

In Ireland, Neave and her husband Aedan contend with similar tensions - Neave remains behind while Aedan travels from Ulster to London to reckon with Queen Elizabeth I as the queen seeks to extend her power and influence. Jealousy and distrust underscores the tension caused by distance, and a key miscommunication leads Neave to suspect something deeper lies between the English queen and the Ulsterian king.

Both women make decisions that could forever sever their relationships with their husbands and cast them in the role of villain. Is there a chance for redemption? Can Siena and Neave right their wrongs and overcome their internal struggles and demons to find happiness?

Vera's brilliant storytelling comes out in full force again in this exceptional and dramatic sequel. The author explores and examines Siena and Neave's motivations and flaws through a gripping psychological lens, something not often utilized in fiction. As a result, both women feel real, as they stumble through their decisions, even as readers may look on with horror from a distance.

Perhaps more importantly, Vera offers a realistic but also empathetic portrayal of sexual assault-related PTSD and how it can affect both platonic and romantic relationships. That’s not to say that Vera generalizes this, far from it. Rather, through deep research and clear understanding, she treats the subject with respect, allowing readers to engage with the characters and develop a measure of both sympathy and empathy for them. And at no point does Vera engage in victim-blaming, something that I’ve read in other novels that cover similar types of assaults.

In terms of world-building, both Washington D.C. and Ireland come to life as living, breathing, vibrant locations. The nation’s capital brims with life, an artistic and cultural center of the country. Ireland, with its complex geopolitical situation and stunning vistas, feels both otherworldly and tangible at the same time.

Readers will once again fall in love with Vera’s crisp and vivid prose and ability to evoke a wide range of emotions from anger and disbelief to joy and grief. The characters - protagonists, antagonists, and secondary/tertiary ones - come alive, almost as if we know them in our own lives. It’s a true talent to devise characters that leap off the page and ingrain themselves in our imaginations.

Solid and riveting at its core, Into the Lure of Time will resonate and reverberate with readers who experience Siena's and Neave's stories for themselves.

Thank you to Vera for allowing me to beta read this novel and for an eARC as well!

If you’re like me and believe there’s nothing like a delicious escape into a time-travel romance, then you are in for a treat. “Into the Lure of Time by Vera Bell is the second book in her Always and Forever trilogy, a compelling exploration of the haunting similarities that connect lives separated by centuries.

In 16th-century Ulster, Ireland, Neave O’Neal faces societal disgrace when her husband Aedan, King of Tyrone is forced by Queen Elizabeth into nuptials with an English maiden in order to maintain peace between their two countries. Blind with heartbreak and disillusion Neave jumps at the chance of revenge by allying with Aedan’s mortal enemy. Meanwhile, in modern-day America, Siena has her own issues. Driven by (unfounded?) jealousy, she has a serious lapse in judgment that threatens her own marriage and family. Trapped by the politics of the past and the emotional battles of the present, Neave and Siena find themselves at critical intersections. Will they be able to rectify the repercussions of their actions, or are some ripples in time impossible to smooth over?

I’ll try not to jump all over the place with this review but there are so many things to talk about! I’ll start by admitting I was late to this party, so I went back to read book one of the trilogy, “Through the Veneer of Time in order to fully appreciate book two. I highly recommend you do the same it is a saga that must be read sequentially to fully understand the intricacies of the plot and the connections between the characters across time. And hey, there’s nothing wrong with indulging a few extra hours in masterful storytelling, am I right?

One aspect that piqued my interest from the start is that “Into the Lure of Time is truly a journey combining tantalizing time travel with historical fiction. Bell’s character Aedan O’Neal is inspired by the legendary Shane O’Neill and showcases how the figures of the past shape the present. The brief interactions between Aedan O’Neal and Queen Elizabeth give readers a glimpse into the subtleties of her courtly machinations, complete with secret plots, quiet manipulation, and hidden rivalries all characteristic of this period.

The characters are simply amazing. Without giving too much away, each couple, despite their flaws and errors in judgment, is inextricably bound by a deep soul connection. Their undying love is the ultimate in romance, and their near incapacitation without one another will tug at your heart. It’s fascinating to observe the parallels and contrasts in these complex relationships across centuries, and I had to ask myself: have we learned nothing from history, and are we destined to repeat the same patterns of the heart?

The writing is beautiful, evocative clearly the author is a gifted storyteller. The way she digs into the emotions of the characters, the extensive world-building, the twisty plotlines everything comes together completely immersing you in the story. I felt the fear of punishment, the anguish of betrayal, the desperation of hope, along with the ease and comfort of being with the one you love. There’s also an edgy, seductive tone with scenes of erotica enticing the darker themes of obsession, jealousy, manipulation, and the psychological depths of romantic and sexual relationships. Bell had me feeling “all the feels as I feverishly turned each page.

Most interesting to me perhaps is the move away from good vs. evil or hero vs. villain to a battle of inner conflict. The characters are their own worst enemies in this story as Bell peels back their layers to reveal the contradictions that wrestle within them. It’s a thought-provoking and intense journey, watching the characters confront their personal demons in a powerful and at times excruciating display of self-discovery.

I thoroughly enjoyed “Into the Lure of Time by Vera Bell. It’s a must-read for those who savor time travel romances woven with rich historical detail, emotional depth, and complex, mature themes. I can’t wait for the final book in the trilogy, it promises to be as breathtaking as the first two books. Highly recommended reading.

Once again, Ms. Bell blew me away with this novel!

Of note: This is book #2 in the Always and Forever Trilogy. If you have not read ‘Through the Veneer of Time, please consider doing that before picking this one up!

After reading book #1, I literally fell apart…became unglued…whatever, or however you’d like to phrase it. Once you are mixed in with the cast, they actually BECOME a part of your soul! ( IYKYK And if you’ve read it, you DO know!! ) ❤️❤️

So now, moving on to Book #2!

Sadly, I was not able to get this one as an audible…and being as I read/listen A LOT, I took a long time to get through this one…which was fine. It actually gave me more time to think about the characters, their lives, and what was going on

Now…just a little recap.
Timeline #1: We have Naeve and Aeden. Lovers for life. Soul companions. Married. Undying love and adoration for each other. Literally…cannot live without the other. Like the fibers of their BEING cannot function without the other nearby He is the King of Tyrone. She is from a noble family. We are living in the mid 1500’s

Timeline #2: We have Sienna and Ryan. She is a phenomenal artist/painter. He is with the FBI. He’s just been relocated to Washington, DC. She is finishing up a mural in Dallas, and then joining him in DC with their baby. The year is 2012.
They are totally and utterly in love! They cannot breathe without the other
BUT…She has visions…in her dreams…of a past life?
Of Naeve and Aeden. Of their undying love. Of their trials and tribulations.

As Sienna witnesses the undoing of Aeden and Naeve, she is shaken. How can this be happening?

And then, when Sienna meets Ryan’s new, beautiful FBI partner, she begins thinking the unthinkable. Could it happen to them too???

Once again, Vera Bell writes in a way that actually PULLS you into the book! You will find yourself cheering for the characters, and then crying with them too! You’ll rejoice in their victories and celebrate with them. And you will be ruined, with them, in their failings. Heart shattering to pieces

My heart soared like a butterfly one moment, and then dropped to the bowels of the earth in the next. And although I’d like to say…hey Naeve…open your eyes! 👀. I can’t, because I FEEL the pain she’s going through…at the moment…right there with her! And my heart is falling apart with and for her!

Same with Sienna…hey, whatever you do, DONT do that! And yet, I can totally understand what she’s feeling…and why. Were there better options? Yes, of course. But when your head and heart are spinning…well, all bets are off. 😕

And getting back to the boys.
Aeden Has Naeve ever steered you wrong? Why can’t men just listen?? But…boys will be boys, and here we are.
The pain and sorrow so deep and obvious in his every move. The decisions he had to face! OMG. My heart was breaking for him. 💔

And Ryan. I know your work is important…but, you need to OPEN your eyes 👀 too! What’s with these never ending days at the office? AND…You never even considered what was going though the boss head…but, Sienna did!

I’m leaving it here. Not going to give any more away…this was just a teaser.
If you want to fill in the blanks, you need to find this one and read it. I promise, you will not be disappointed!!
So many layers. So much love. And yet, so much turmoil

Needless to say, ALL THE STARS for me!
5 +++ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟💫💫💫💫💫

All the feels. All the love. All the despair. All the disappointments. All the losses. And again. ALL THE LOVE!

PLUS…dual timelines! What else is there??
OH…and look at that beautiful cover!!

#IntoTheLureOfTime by #VeraBell.

Not to be missed!! Book #2!
Looking forward to book #3, BUT…Also, don’t want the series to end!! 😢

Complete honesty, when you read an amazing debut novel that just blows you away, you do become a little sceptical as to whether the second book will be as good. Well it’s safe to say that this book has outshone the first instalment. By miles!!!!

I love how Vera’s worldbuilding skills are so impeccable that you are instantly transported back to Ireland in 1564. Again, like the first book you can tell she has done so much research into Irish history and the Gaelic language. She literally brings history to life. It’s makes me a very proud Irish woman 🥰

But enough about that! The story continues from book one and again it’s told through two different timelines. Both are done so well that they just flow so seamlessly into each other. I love the characters both Aedan and Neave and Siena and Ryan. (Ooh Aedan 😍🔥) We get to dive a little deeper into who they are in this book and they are perfectly flawed which makes them all the more relatable. Their stubborn, jealous, passionate.

Vera you had me feeling all the emotions with this one! It’s literally taking me a few days to finally come down from the rollercoaster to write this (I mean that in the best way🥰).

Honestly I could go on and on about this book, about this series but I don’t want to make this super long.

Don’t get me wrong you’ll be seeing me post a lot about this in the next few weeks because YOU NEED TO READ IT!!!

If you like Kate Mosse books or Outlander is your vibe, then this series is for you.

So how can a book be this awesome when you want to strangle the two main characters the whole time, and in both time lines too? I guess that's the mark of an outstanding author when you can become so invested in these characters that they're so real that their actions infuriate you. I would have to say I spent the majority of the time reading this book wanting to throw it at the wall. But that would've broken my Kindle. Also, I was too eager to see what was going to happen next. I can't believe how incredibly real these people have become over the course of this book and the preceding one. There's just no way I can describe the depth of emotion the author pours into each sentence, each scene, each interaction between these characters. You can tell the amount of time she spent agonizing over every nuance of fear, pain, love, tears and heartbreak they went through. I can honestly say I couldn't forget these characters even if I tried. If you want a saga you can totally immerse yourself in to the exclusion of all else, then this book and this series is for you.

I am trying to recover from a book hangover. After reading and loving the first book, Through the Veneer of Time, I went into reading Into the Lure of time thinking there is no way this book could be as good. I was so wrong! Usually in a Parallel time line story I like one timeline more than the other. But this is not the case. I enjoyed both and all the characters equally. There is rivalry, romance, revenge, heartbreak, suspense, lies, and deceit. I am looking forward to the third book in this trilogy even though I don't want the story to end. Thank you to the author and publisher for a copy of the book and this is my honest review.

Well that was a page turner I must say. For Siena and Neave, when it comes to matters of the heart they are but the same, even if they are centuries apart. Neave tried to warn her Aedan of what was to come if he went to England, of what it would do to them, yet he paid no heed. As the story builds and unravels more you just want to keep reading. Found it hard to put down. Read as they both fight with their heart and their head for the love of their life once again as fate would play its ugly hand. In life all we can do is play the cards we are dealt, the trick is how you play them. Can’t wait to read the next one.

A huge thank you to Vera Bell for sending me my own copy of an ARC of this amazing sequel “In the Lure of Time (part of a trilogy). This is my honest and I paid review of the book.
Well…I was blown away by the first book “Through the Veneer of Time, especially from a debut author, and thought it couldn’t get better. But I was wrong! So many things going on in this book, new characters, new challenges, new adventures. Despite being a bigger book, the time flew by and I was finished before I knew it.
The dual yet intertwined timelines of the characters has me looking for deeper connections while I’m reading each separate storyline. I start to notice some similarities and themes that make the story so much more interesting.
I love that the characters are having to fight for their happy ever afters, because we all know that is no guarantee in real life, why should also be in a novel?
The history is so intriguing and is what initially drew me to this trilogy as a lover of historical fiction. And who doesn’t love a strong warrior as a male lead who has just enough vulnerability to make him human?
I am looking forward to the next book! 💕

“Iad siúd a cheangail Dia, ná scaoileadh duine iad. Those whom God has joined together, let no man separate.

Once again I find myself impressed by Bell’s ability to seamlessly transition from the 1500s to the 2000s. Her ability to flawlessly switch from poetic 16th century Irish language to modern day English is astounding. Because of this, you feel positively immersed in each setting.

A range of emotions from fear to fury to relief will accompany you on the continued journey with these characters. If you have not read book 1 Through the Veneer of Time, I highly suggest you read that first so you get to know all the characters and their stories. This book was more emotional for me than the first book. It’s so well written you nearly become the characters. Definitely get this on your TBR!

Book 1 was great but would Book 2 be as good? Oh, yes.

The green-eyed monster can rear its ugly head at a moment's notice. Revenge! Blackmail! There are two sides to every story. Choosing not to listen to the other side complicates matters greatly. Choices we make can either destroy or strengthen a relationship. How many will perish due to the green-eyed monster?

Both of these past and present timelines are intricately woven extremely well.

It is a page-turner. I recommend this trilogy.

I want to read the rest of the story now but I will have to wait.

***Full transparency, I had the pleasure of working on Into the Lure of Time as a proofreader***

Vera Bell, author of Into the Lure of Time, has that rare kind of talent that weaves such a magical tale, you’re transported into the story to live alongside the characters. I was fully invested in both sets of characters, but let’s start with Siena and Ryan.
I loved how Vera created a flawed set of characters in these two. Sometimes authors will shy away from making a character too flawed or have them recover too quickly from traumas. Not so with Vera. She takes you all the way through their painful journeys as both characters make mistakes. You get to feel every misguided choice, every gut-wrenching consequence, and every ounce of heartbreak. By the time I finished, I had run through the whole gamut of emotions: love, angst, jealousy, insecurity, betrayal, heartbreak, anger, and forgiveness. I appreciate that Vera isn’t afraid to explore all the emotions. Her skillful portrayal of real emotions left me breathless in its honesty.
With Neave and Aedan, I was no less than enthralled throughout the scope of their story. Vera has masterfully taken myths and legends from another time and created vivid characters dripping with authenticity. They’re beautiful, stubborn, passionate, strong, and every bit as flawed as Siena and Ryan. Their stories mimic each other in terms of the emotions, but the triggers, the unwise decisions, the devastating consequences are time appropriate for Neave and Aedan. Vera has a stunning ability to bring history to life in her portrayal of 16th-century Ireland. The danger, the intrigue, the romance, the sweeping saga, and more, it’s there in all its historical glory. Yet, the time period feels intimate to the reader as told through these two characters.
In terms of the plot, Into the Lure of Time is a high-stakes story, though not in the traditional sense. Unlike her first novel, Through the Veneer of Time, which was high-stakes between the antagonist and the protagonist, this one is an emotional high-stakes story, with the protagonist becoming their own antagonist. Stories like these are less common and Vera has done an exceptional job of creating a plot that’s both fluid and believable. Complex, yet with a common thread that runs between the dual timelines. It was an effortless yet intense read that lingered in my thoughts long after I’d finished the last page.
Vera’s worldbuilding is masterful. I was immersed on the first page and felt welcomed home as I returned to some beloved characters. Her descriptions are vivid and detailed without being too much, and her backstories the perfect balance of positioning the reader to know what’s going on without overwhelming them as the new story unfolds. The restraint shown to create this balance is an acquired skill that Vera excels in.
Finally, the overall theme of being human, making mistakes, and forgiveness is one that’s relatable. Her carefully crafted portrayal of events, emotions, and descriptions combine to tell an achingly beautiful story that resonates.

Into The Lure of Time: Irish Time Travel Romantic Suspense
Vera Bell
Readers were enthralled with the first book in this series, Through the Veneer of Time. We eagerly awaited the release of Into the Lure of Time. I am happy to announce it is being released early. Grab your copy and escape to 1564, Ulster, Ireland and 2011, Washington, DC/Dallas, TX.
This book continues the story of Neave and Aedan, Siena and Ryan. It seamlessly moves back and forth through time between 1564 and 2011.
Although she begged him not to go, Aedan visited Queen Elizabeth. She forced him to divorce Neave and forces him to remarry. Naeve is devasted and reacts by escaping into another man’s arms. Aedan’s enemies seize the opportunity to use the situation against Aedan. Naeve’s reaction costs her the very thing she loves most.
Siena has one last mural to complete then she can join her husband Ryan in Texas. Ryan has been transferred to Dallas where he has a new partner, a female. Siena is jealous from the moment she meets the woman that seems to threaten her marriage. Much like the situation in ancient Ireland, Siena reacts unwisely, and it could cost her what she loves most.
Kudos to author Vera Bell for weaving two love stories together. MS Bell brings out the emotions in her characters, so strongly that I felt the pain as the characters experienced it. The characters all had flaws which made them realistic. The situations of both time periods mimicked each other. The characters demonstrated how we all react with our emotions.
I love time travel novels especially when they are based in Ireland. I will continue to look for books written by Vera Bell. She has captured the attention and loyalty of many including me.

Into the Lure of Time by Vera Bell is the second book in the Always and Forever trilogy. For me above all the other genres it crosses it is a time travel romance although it pulls on elements from other genres.
Aeden and Neave find themselves separated by the government as the English crown forces Aeden under duress to divorce Neave and agree to an arranged marriage. Understandably, Neave spirals and makes a rash decision to marry his enemy, who, of course, is a huge jerk.
In the modern timeline, Sienna and Ryan are trying to make long-distance work with a new baby and his high-pressure FBI job. Sienna also spirals echoing Neave and makes a huge mistake.
There wasn't as much action as in the first novel but so much angst. I was riveted and mortified by the actions of the characters. I wanted to throw my phone so many times. However, I couldn't put it down. I read the whole thing in two days.
Neave was impulsive and Sienna was so insecure they caused their own problems by not communicating with their partners and making their situations worse. It felt very human reading about their very imperfect journeys. It felt like reading a lesson in how not to be in a marriage.
Ryan/Aeden's feelings read almost like obsession and need rather than forgiveness which might take a little longer given the situation. I can't wait to read what's next.
Thank you to Netgalley for the Arc. This review was given voluntarily and all views expressed are my own.

Disclaimer - I did not read the first book, so it took a while to figure out why the story bounced between 16th century Ireland and current day Texas. Well into the novel, I realized that the main character had visions about the Irish heroine, but it was unclear if she is an actual reincarnation or a victim of some mystical time warp. Much later, it is revealed that her husband, as well as several other characters, are also privy to the past, and their connections are even more confusing. The theme that love withstands the test of time and a couple can find each other centuries later carried the tale, but resurfacing an entire population required explanation (How did the group manage to travel together? What was their purpose in returning?). Also, the plot turns on "misunderstandings" that are consistent with the 16th century culture, but the device lacks credibility in a society where a wife has the right to ask a husband, "Where were you last night?" While the comparison between eras was interesting, the Irish thread was more immersive, enriched by the author's expert use of dialect and lore. Though steamy sex scenes, that seemed to occur every other chapter, made the lord and lady's relationship compelling, as a reader who prefers history to romance, I craved details about clothes, food, setting and daily activities. There is no question the novel was well written, but it didn't hang together.

The second book in the Always and Forever trilogy, this book was a tougher read than the first. Ryan Siena and Aeden and Neave all suffered greatly.

Revenge was on the menu.

Aeden in the 16th century is summoned to the court of Queen Elizabeth 1st where she forces him to divorce Neave and take an English wife to encourage peace between Ulster and England.
Neave doesn't take this lying down.

Ryan in the 21st century has to go to Dallas for a big case, leaving Neave in Washington DC to finish an art commission for a senator. Their separation doesn't go well.

The characters are incredibly well written and the two worlds are very realistic. Emotions good and bad, boil on the pages. The characters are bubbling with inner turmoil. Will they survive? Of course, because thankfully there is a third book.

I have become emotionally invested in these characters, loving them and hating them just as they do each other. This is what I want from a book so I am extremely happy with this author and I will continue to read anything that she writes as long as the quality of the writing remains as high as the bar she has set for herself.

I enjoyed this second volume of the Always and Forever Book trilogy every bit as much as vol. 1. It really delved more into the private lives of Sienna and Ryan now that they are parents and the challenges they faced living apart. The richness of the PLR visions was as entertaining as in Volume 1 though I thought there were some sections where it really wasn't as clear as in Vol. 1 who in the present was a friend or foe from the past. Nonetheless, the vitality and depth of the relationships between Sienna and Ryan and Aedan and Neave were wonderful to read whether about how deeply they loved one another or how damaged they were as individuals with all of their second-guessing each other and feeling like they were not worthy of the relationship. I was also reminded of how much I like Bell's weaving into her prose the Irish language giving the read a degree of realism not often found in time travel stories. I'm eagerly awaiting the final volume of the trilogy and would highly recommend these volumes to anyone interested in early Irish culture, past life regression, relationships, and the work it takes to maintain them, especially when children are involved.

While I found the books riveting, I was annoyed at how idiotic the main characters are. They don't tell the truth about what's happening and they keep repeating the same stupid mistakes time after time. I remember a movie when I was young, Elvira Madigan. The plot was SO annoying. The main characters, who were so "in love" wandered through the woods eating mushrooms and then barfing. They were stupid. I can understand why Neave and Aedan might have been so clueless, given the times, but for Ryan and Siena to not LEARN from their mistakes is really unforgiveable. That being said, I was still very sucked into the story and I'll probably read the last book just so I know how it all turned out but I REALLY hope there are no more dumb romantic "mistakes".

I loved reading The Venner of time, and I couldn't believe it when I finished reading this second volume. I was afraid that there would be a repetition of the theme, but I was wrong. This new antagonist took me by surprise. And as far as bad characters go, I loved this one. I loved how the author constructed it. I read in the author's newsletter that writing for her is like cutting a stone, and let me tell you, this story is very polished and honed. I'm looking forward to the end of the trilogy in 2025. I hope the third volume has the same suspense as this one.

Into the Lure of Time was another hit for me. Would I continue with this series? Yes, yes I would. Vera Bell has a way of writing that will just pull you in the book. I didn't say this in my review of book one, but I prefer books in the first POV. I like that this author wrote in first POV, so this is another plus for me.

From centuries of long ago, to current times, you'll see a lot of similarities between both couples-the ups and downs. If you're a fan of Outlander, you are going to love this.

This series is not for the feint hearted. Neave and Aedan go through so many troubles and trials but always seem to make it back to each other. There are some parts where I could just stop reading because Aedan was being a typical man but those of us that are married learn to push through their stupidity. But Sie and Ryan took their past trying to catch up with them in strides. Sie and Ryan are Neave and Aedan in the future. The storyline was amazing and the love of their country and partners was right on point. Definitely a binge worthy read.

I had the opportunity to read Into the Lure of Time prior to release and I have to say it was amazing. Normally when a second book comes out, I have experienced that the second one is either slower then the first one or just not as good. I was really surprised that I didn't have that feeling with Into the Lure of Time. I absolutely loved this book.

This book is now available, so don't miss your opportunity to take a trip to Ulster, Ireland.

Similar to the previous book, the strength of this book is the interesting relationship between present and past stories; in this one it is closer but still not direct. The two women, present and 16th-century, assume the worst immediately about their beloveds and pay the price for actions they take in revenge. The author focuses on the stories themselves, leaving the suggestion that the past is a "vision" of the present heroine, or the proof that we are dealing with all the same people, reincarnated, somewhat inconclusive, but I didn't mind that, as that's what life offers us anyway.

Expertly written - the sequel held the same vibrance as the first book, and the characters again felt as large as life. The plot was believable, and while it felt a bit more strung out than the first book it held my attention till the end. Again, contains some troubling content, see warnings in the intro.

A ’must read for lovers of historical fiction with a speculative edge.

Vera’s second book in this fabulous trilogy, once again follows Neave and Aiden in the 16th century and their reincarnated selves, Siena and Ryan, in current times, as their lives are inexorably intertwined. A tale of love, betrayal and reconciliation, that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Turbulent and Gripping

An awesome continuation of Siena and Ryan’s journey. Poignant misunderstandings abound as well as true issues. I enjoyed the mirroring with Neave and Aedan. The romance was gripping and nearly destroyed, but the book wove a great tale. This book stands alone fine, but you’ll need Books 1 and 3, the whole trilogy for full satisfaction.

After reading the first book I thought it was good. Started the 2nd book and got about half way through when I decided I just did not want to finish it. Both of the presumably strong female characters made stupid decisions that I don’t think they would have made in real like. I was done, won’t be finishing this one.

This second book continues this fantastic story in this Trilogy. This story combines modern times and 1500's Ireland that blends seamlessly throughout the book. I loved reading about the longing, betrayal, and suspense! I'm definitely looking forward to book 3 to see how the story continues. Perfect for fans of Outlander and Ireland
