Three forms of unity: थ्री फॉर्म् ऑफ यूनिटी

Rate this book
The Three Forms of Unity is a collective name that refers to the Belgic Confession 1561, the Heidelberg Catechism 1563, and the Canons of Dort 1618. It is a collection of doctrinal statements that have special significance and are relevant to the church today. In general, these confessions help to deepen the understanding of the true gospel, deepen the Christian faith, and clearly explain the teaching of God's Word.

First, it presents an effective way of teaching through questions and answers. The Heidelberg Catechism is written in a question-answer format so that the biblical teaching can reach children and those who are new to the faith. Thus, it is normative in nature.

Second, the Belgic Confession clearly presents various biblical teachings. Its first phrase “we believe with the heart and confess with the mouth shows its characteristic. It is not limited to mere intellectual assent, but is a union of faith and confession. It was written at a time when Protestants were facing persecution. It affirmed that believers willingly submitted to the king and accepted suffering and even death for their faith.

Third, the Canon of Dort was written after many years of disputes within the Reformed churches of Europe and Britain. It came into being as a technical answer to particular theological disputes in the history of the church. It is relevant today for two first, it teaches the truth clearly and second, the methodology of teaching the truth is unique.

In today's time, there is a need for solid and robust biblical teaching material that presents a good summary of the Word of God and explains all the principles taught in it. Three Forms of Unity meets all these requirements.

With this in mind, my wife Mamta has translated it and I have contributed to this work as a senior editor. This is a unique Hindi translation of Three Forms of Unity. My wife and I are both Hindi speakers and have done Masters in English Literature. This helped us to bring the contextual meaning of English words in Hindi.

I have studied Honours and Master of Theology at the Reformed Seminary of North-West University, South Africa. This educational qualification helped to maintain doctrinal accuracy in the Hindi translation. Other English translations were compared during the translation so that the meaning is clear and accurate. The sentences are presented with good flow of thought in the Heidelberg Catechism, Belgic Confession, and Canon of Dort.

As far as possible, the originality of the original documents has been strictly maintained. I have personally taught Three Forms of Unity for many years, benefiting many in the Kingdom of God. It is excellent material for learning and teaching that highlights the truth revealed in the Holy Scriptures. My hope is that it becomes a useful tool for teaching the Word of God among the Hindi speaking community. All glory to God.
