Following a meeting of the Blue Hill Library's writing group. Lucas Miller disappears. His teenage daughters, Remi and Bella, who are also part-time library employees, are unable to console their distraught mother when Lucas's car is found crashed into a tree outside of town, without him in it. Anne reluctantly agrees to look into the published author's disappearance, but the mystery gets more tangled with each clue she finds. What does the strange code in Lucas's last manuscript mean? How is his disappearance related to the rash of break-ins happening around town?

Meanwhile, Ben and Liddie's grandparents are coming to town to spend time with them. Their presence floods Anne with bittersweet memories of her late husband, and their attempts to encourage her to consider dating again upset Ben. As the case keeps pulling Anne's attention away, she struggles to give her family the time they deserve.

To be very honest, this was probably my least favorite in this series to date. The whole plot seemed very far fetched and a little over-the-top dramatic to me. I go into a Guidepost mystery as a laid back and calm read, but this one really wasn’t with the FBI ties and two kidnappings. Felt a little Hallmark movie-ish in the sense of the writing.
On the other side of the plot with Anne deciding if she’s interested in dating or not, it does seem a bit sudden compared to the previous books. A couple parts made me tear up (Liddie’s comment) and I still look forward to reading the rest of the series to see what will happen.

While a good story, this was the my least favorite so far. Anne’s writing club has a meeting and a local author, whose daughters work at the library, disappeared on his way home. His car is found wrecked but he is gone. Anne and Alex work together to find him going through a maze of gambling, part time jobs and secrets.

This was such a suspenseful book, I had a lot of trouble putting it down! First, Lucas Miller who was at the library writing group just vanishes, and then his car is found crashed into a tree. Where are the Miller twins father. Joyce, Lucas's wife and the twins ask Anne to help find their father. The police stop looking for Lucas when they find a note in the car saying he has left his family for a new life. Meanwhile, Anne's in-laws come for a visit and want to know if Anne is dating anyone, they especially like Alex. Anne has to see for her self if she is ready to date, but her son over hears and wonders if his mother marries again if he won't get to see his dad's parents anymore. There are a lot of twists in the disappearance of Lucas, and it gets dangerous when the Miller twins are kidnapped. This book is not only very suspenseful but shows with prayers to God and the help of friends that any situation can be over come. Enjoy!

I really like this series however I felt this particular story was off track with its intense drama and slip into the violent criminal realm. I like how I can normally read this series and it feels fun, comfortable and like what I expect from a faith based book. This was the least favorite book in this series for me. I don’t recommend it as a faith based book.

I enjoyed this book. It has mystery, searching for a missing writer & how it effects his family. Love stories, between man & wife, grandparents & grandchildren, & others. I enjoyed the descriptions of places & things.

2.5 rounded (generously) to 3 - This had some elements that worked, the main character is a librarian, she lives in a library! Other elements, including how clumsily the mystery was solved, how quickly the police stepped out, how much the police allowed civilian interference, all shouted WRONG to me. I am mildly interested in whether Anne and Alex will evidently get together, but probably not interested enough to read more of the books.
