There’s been a murder in the quiet village of Little Hamilton. Patricia Lansbury runs her “Feline Retirement Home there for abandoned cats, where she expected to have a quiet retirement. Unfortunately for Pattie, events have drawn her into the police investigation, and find herself entangled in the biggest mystery Little Hamilton has ever seen. With the unexpected help of her cats, Pattie must work with the police to uncover the truth about the murder. But when all she wants is a quiet cup of tea, how can Pattie unravel the mystery when the truth seems so elusive?
I love cats. In fact I adore them. I am a cozy mystery author and massage therapist. When I'm not writing my next cat cozy mystery, I am facilitating healing in others through my massage practice in beautiful Southern California. I find inspiration through animals and my natural surroundings, and I spend most of my days and nights enjoying the company of my two Tortoiseshell cats.
This was a very, very short story only around 50 pages. Because it was so short, there was little "sleuthing" to this, as, after about 45 pages, the MC declared what happened and the murderer taken into custody. Ìý So, a cute story but so short that there wasn't any room to give the reader a sense of place, to connect with the characters or to enjoy the mystery.Ìý Not bad, but another 50 pages could've given the book a lot more dimension.
This is the book I've read of the Pattie Lansbury cat mysteries but I really liked it. Will be reading more of the series books since I enoyed this one.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
This book was good but it was to short, in 50 pages the whole story happened. I will definitely read other books in the series as I am a cat lover and owner. This story shows that animals have a very fine instinct. There might be people who differ with me but for me animals have a soul and my furries I won't swop for anything.
A really quick read. While I enjoyed the story it wasn't a favorite read. I have been reading all of this author's work and this book didn't seem as good as her others. With that said I plan on reading the next book to see if perhaps the series gets better.
