When Lexi gets her latest gig, tracking down a blackmailer guilty of extorting thousands of dollars from the country’s hottest girl band, it’s practically a dream come true. However, rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous doesn’t turn out to be as much fun as she hoped. Instead of four cool, young women with a squeaky clean image, who are eager to aid in her investigation, Lexi must deal with incessant squabbling and fighting from a band who will do just about anything to hinder her search for the truth. Before she even gets started, disaster strikes: one member of the band is found dead with a knife in her back. Has the blackmailer graduated to murder?
Now, with one member dead, and another the chief suspect, Lexi must unveil the secrets the band is hiding from their adoring fans. As the truth slowly unfolds, and the press and paparazzi descend on Montgomery, Lexi must find the culprit and fast, before disaster strikes again.
Along with the band’s serious problems, (as if she didn’t already have enough to contend with), Lexi’s personal life also takes a puzzling turn. Her boyfriend-slash-boss and her best friend suddenly start behaving very strangely around her. Lexi, however, is bound and determined to find out what’s going on with the two most important people in her life while solving the trickiest investigation of her career.

Though not really my favorite in the series, this one was still a good read. It was as fun as always to spend time with the main (and supporting) characters. I did notice a few editing needs, though it stopped short of making me crazy. I've enjoyed this series for a long time now, and already plan to read the next book!
Not my favorite case wise. The B4U girls are really annoying actually. I get that was supposed to be the point but I found them bratty and annoying to the point of disliking some of the scenes. However, the misunderstanding about lexi’s “condition had me laughing out loud. I put the clues together pretty early on. The ending definitely surprised me- not the bad guy but lexi’s but decision career-wise. I wonder if it’ll last.
I love this series, but I didn't find this book to be as good as usual. It actually took me a loooooong time to finish reading it because I lost interest half way through and then left it for months. I just found the B4U girls really irritating. I finally picked back up with this book the other day and finished it, but it for sure wasn't my favorite. Despite this book, I am still a fan of both this series and the Stella Mayweather series, and will continue to read future books.
Time to take a break from this series. Taking four days to complete it was a big flag.
On the surface, they're not bad stories, but when taken in a large clump (7 books in a row), the things that previously were minor irritants became much harder to ignore. Topping the list would be the fact that whenever Lexi finds herself in a bind, which should be normal, considering she IS just learning the PI ropes, no one seems to have any faith in her. Not her family, her best friend, or her boyfriend. They don't even try to let her explain. I don't know about other people, but this is a BIG infraction in my eyes. All of the people know she's been doing well learning her new job, but there is absolutely no support from them if anything goes wrong. Even in a minor way.
There were other things that bothered me, too, but I might have been able to overlook them.
I may pick up the series again after a break, but at this point I just don't know.
This one was not my favorite for a couple of reasons but it had nothing to do with the main characters (Lexi, John, Maddox, Lily, or the Graves brothers). It had more to do with the story line and the way John so easily took Lexi off the case and how in her anger she quit. I want the. To walk down the aisle. I am getting to vested in these people that I know are just characters in a book but I can because of these books and the writing by Camilla to as them very vividly in my mind.
Their is one good in the story. Lexi dresses in a Maxi dress to go to her parent for dinner. But at the warehouse after abruptly leaving that dinner she was in jeans on warehouse floor? Me thinks that was a mistake.
What can I say that I haven't written on previous reviews. The author delivers. The story is intriguing, entertaining with mystery and lexie learns something about herself, when her boyfriend, boss solomon kicks her off the case they both been working on because someone set her up to take the fall that linked information to the media which lexie did not do.
Solomon is both boss and boyfriend. Lexi is out on a drama filled, yet benign case. Or so Solomon thought. As soon as danger gets to close to Lexi, Solomon pulls her off the case. That’s when the boyfriend/boss roles clash. It’s not pretty. Lexi gets pulled back into the case when she’s hired privately by an interested party. Now to see if Solomon and Lexi will survive professionally and romantically.
The saga continues with Lexi’s murder mysteries. Don’t expect too much romance. Lexi is focused on her career. But her friendships and family dynamics are still quite funny.
Another good book by Camilla Chafer. I did catch one error but it was a minor one. Lexi described the skirt she was wearing then suddenly it switched to jeans without a trip home to change. Otherwise it was a good plot and kept me glued to the book until the very end.
Lexi Graves is at it again. This time she is called upon to investigate a blackmailing of the highest caliber, a hot female singing group B4U. Solomon promises that this will be an easy case for Lexi to solve and not dangerous, but it quickly turns into anything but that. Lexi and Solomon walk in to find the group at each other's throats, due mainly from the stress of the blackmail. Lexi is determined to get to the bottom of this mess, and maybe get her niece some swag in the process.
The only hitch in her plan comes with the murder of the band's crankiest member. Now, not only does Lexi have to reveal who is blackmailing the band, but now she needs to find the murderer before anyone else gets hurt. In true Lexi fashion, several big bumps and a few secrets revealed make this process very difficult. Feelings get hurt and people around Lexi begin acting strange, including her best friend Lily, Lexi's boyfriend/boss Solomon and her mother. Once again Lexi is put into danger as the blackmailer and killer are exposed.
****
I love the Lexi Graves series and have read them several times each. I like the under-story of Lexi's family and love life mixed in. I do hope that this series will continue for a few more books, as they are a great read, and I feel like I live the story right along with Lexi and the whole gang.
During Christmas I had time to read the next in this great series. It is a solid addition and I loved it.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
The relationship between Lexi and John Solomon is evolving in this book. But, I do feel they have communication issues. They both do not always come forward with their feelings and questions. I was moved by the fact John was so thrilled about a pregnancy, he even told her she made him the happiest man. But then they never raise the subject again? And why was Lexi mad at him for 'benching' her during the case? She has a track record for being hurt on the job and taking risks and I do understand his motives. Plus, it was her fault things leaked to the press and she did not inform Solomon about everything. She could and maybe would have been fired (but her boss is her boyfriend).
I do understand there are team Maddox people out there. But to be honest, I do not get why Maddox is (still) in the books at all. He is a great character and did not deserve the way Lexi treated him in the third book. He is just there, being a wonderful and hot guy while Lexi has John. I would like Maddox to be really happy and it to be clear Lexi has chosen John with all her heart.
Kudos to Camilla Chafer for a wonderful addition to the series and I look forward to the next one!!
Lexi Graves is kick-ass! I love her spunk, her fierceness, and her loyalty to her family and friends. This book had a few shockers for me. 1. Her "issue" with Solomon and leaving the agency. I didn't like it. I understand it, but I don't like it. Because it wrecks the picture perfect image I have of them. While I was a big fan of Maddox, Lexi and Solomon together has grown on me. But their work relationship is a big part of that. I don't want it to end. 2. Solomon' softness. I wasn't prepared for the soft teddy-bear side of John. But, now that I saw it, I want more. And I want a positive pregnancy test for them. Stat.
Like always, Lexi finds herself investigating a case that turns crazy. I love how Lexi is always the one to find the body. This book had her working closer with her brother, Garrett, which I liked. Plus, throw in hottie ex, Maddox, and you have a great combination.
I loved it. Can't wait for the next one. Though, I hope Lexi & Solomon's relationship moves forward. I want more for them than dating. It's time for our girl to get married. :)
As per usual with a Lexi Graves novel there are many plots and subplots all intermingled into one. In "Kissing in Action" we find Lexi and Solomon investigating the blackmail of the teen group B4U. Then, one of the members of the group is killed making it a murder investigation.
Lexi's BFF, Lily is running around acting strangely as well as her boss/boyfriend, Solomon. Who knows why people act the way they do? Howe, Lexi will soon find out and if will be utterly hysterical. The ending especially had me laughing even though it was pretty clear where everything was headed.
I just love this series. It just keeps getting better and better! I'm a little sad though because I am getting down to the last of the books and there probably won't be another one until next year. What can I say? Pick up this series, you won't be sorry!
This remains one of my favorite series. The mystery plots are always good, and I can count on several laugh out loud moments. The scene at Lexi's mother's house was totally priceless! Lei seems to kind of come into her own, so to speak, in this story. Obviously she's still her usual self, but more mature and more confident in her abilities. Her relationship with Solomon seems to be stable and progressing. Her friendship with Maddox has become more comfortable even though they both seem to still feel an attraction. In the end, Lexi stands on her own two feet and shows everyone what she is capable of. I'm very curious what will happen from here and what Lexi will do next.
Lexi's at it again. Solomon has given her what appears to be an easy case of blackmail set amid the backdrop of an all girl band. Simple - except the publicity machine presents an image that belies the outright bitterness & fights going on behind scenes. Then to top it all off the most detested group member is murdered. Keeping the public images in check the vagaries and secrets each member is being blackmailed about and wiliness of the murderer leads to a story of ever devolving measures. Garret Graves is given the Homicide case and Maddox is back as the murder is high profile enough for the FBI. Somehow the one who really solves this one is Lexi herself. Mind you Lily helped as good girl friends do.
I love watching Lexi mature professionally, if not so much personally. While the members of the singing group were really irritating and all seem to mix together at first, the feeling is intentional. As Lexi got a better understanding of them I came to appreciate most of them better too. Once Katya was murdered, over all everything improved and that was obviously the plan. They were not perfect by any means but they were much more than bearable. Chafer did an excellent job of creating those characters and as always made me want to meet Lexi, her friends, her family and of course Soloman and Maddox. The twists of the plot worked well. Another winner in the light mysteries of the Lexi Graves series.
There's only so far the author has been able to go with the series. We still have Lexi working with Solomon. She's still in a relationship. She's still solving mysteries, in part due to the considerable help of all of Solomon's employees and technical support. For the past couple of books, the only real plot changes have been the PI jobs she's been investigating. That is getting old pretty quickly, particularly when some parts are so obvious to the reader that the only mystery is why the main characters haven't figured it out yet.
It looks like the author is making a bit of a change toward the end of this book. No spoilers here. Maybe the change will breathe some new life into the next book in the series. Otherwise, it's about time to drive a stake through its heart.
Another great Lexi mystery. I really enjoy these characters, they are growing and they are funny which is always a plus for me. I continue to have the same complaint, after six or seven stories the author still can't get the Amercan culture and colloquiallisms right. If you need a proof reader, I'll help you, but get it right, please! I counted at least 40 terms not used in the U.S. or used in a different context and at least 20 grammatical errors. I'll keep reading these enjoyable stories, but will also continue to point out the errors. If you want specifics contact. Please contact me, I have them highlighted.
I have read all the books in the series (some multiple times) and this last one is excellent as usual. There were a lot of changes in the book, but I think it was time for things to move forward. Gone are the single girl days of living in Lilly's parent's building. Relationships change. Yet all this change ended up with a stronger Lexi character and more opportunities for future books.
I think you will enjoy the series if you read them in order. I also think when you finish this book (#7) you will be chomping at the bit for book #8 to be published!
Another fun book!! I am just not sure how I feel but I think I am still leaning on Maddox and Lexi, maybe because Solomon was a little less badass in this book. That is the only thing I hate about series books and there being more than one man in the picture, I get attached to the first guy to much, lol. Highly recommend this series!!!
