"Some people get happy endings." Sarah said. "Even if they have to walk through fire first."
“Do you know what I saw when I looked in your eyes? he whispered into her ear.
Sarah shook her head.
“You were hurting. Trying to hide your pain, but I could still see it. I looked at you and thought—I never want her to hurt again.
Another fantastic RS from Cynthia Eden. This series just continues in strength and awesomeness.
I have been waiting for Sarah and Jax’s book since the previous book, and it surpassed even my high expectations.
Sarah is the daughter of the serial killer Murphy the Monster and she was the one that turned him in. She is a criminal psychologist, who is masterful in getting into the heads of killers. Sarah is afraid of the darkness inside her, which is always just there lurking beneath the surface, ready to drown her in guilt.
The first time she’d seen him, she’d looked into his eyes and thought
He can handle all my darkness. He won’t ever be afraid of what I tell him.
Because his gaze had told her that he’d already looked into hell . . . and hadn’t given a damn about the demons there.
Jax grew up in the gutters, and he has crawled and fought his way to the top. He knows darkness, and he isn’t afraid of it. He does whatever is necessary to win.
Opposites didn’t always attract. Sometimes, two people who were alike met—and the rest of the world fell away. It was like two halves of a fucking whole finally connected. That was what it felt like for him every single time Sarah touched him.
Both can’t deny the instant attraction they felt upon meeting, and although Sarah tries to ignore this pull, Jax isn’t about to let her go. He sees the real her, and he knows that she won’t be afraid of his darkness.
I just loved the chemistry between Sarah and Jax. They heated up the pages and had me swooning. Both were so good at hiding their true selves from others, but not from each other.
“I’m fucking you because I look at you and I want. Simple fact. “I want you naked. I want in you. I want you so much that I know my control won’t hold long, not when you’re around. Because the desire I feel for you is too raw, too strong.
I loved Jax. I’ve always had a weakness for badasses, with sexy accents, and wonderful tattoos, and with a little brokenness inside. Just waiting for the right woman to make them realise their true worth. And Sarah was just perfect for him. I loved his protectiveness, and the way he was with Sarah. All that is Jax, was just yummy and so very sexy.
Monsters were real, and they usually hid beneath the skin of men.
The suspense was superb. The enemy, a man from the past, intent on destroying Sarah and Jax. And he will stop at nothing to obtain his goal.
Cynthia Eden is one of my favorite authors, and I just love how she writes romantic suspense. She has a real knack for writing serial killers, and I have no idea how she does it, but she has made me feel compassion for a serial killer again, just like in . Sarah’s father, Murphy the Monster, has killed many people. But the reason he started killing broke my heart, and I felt so sorry for him.
This book has been added to my favorites list, and I will be rereading it again and again.
For all who loves romantic suspense, with intense romance and thrilling suspense you have to read this series. A highly recommended read.
