A Spell of Time is book ten in The Shade Of Vampire series by Bella Forrest. Although this particular book is not quite as intense as some of the others, I still completely enjoyed it. We get to know Caleb a lot better in this one. He is such a tortured soul. And we get to know more of the history and relationship between he and Annora.
Caleb has accepted that he will never be able to see Rose again. Yet his heart still aches. He accepts that he will forever be trapped on the island with Annora and forced to do her bidding.
“I’d already witnessed the wilting of one blossom. I wasn’t about to risk the petals of another. Least of all Rose. The princess still haunted me and it was all I could do to distract myself from the pain.�
The Shade seems to be out of danger for the moment. But all of their safety seems to rest on one set of shoulders, Mona. Will she be able to continue to keep the island and all it’s residents safe?
It seems as though danger is lurking, unbeknownst to all of our beloved characters. An evil has penetrated their boundaries but in what form? And who is in danger?
One thing I love about this series is the level of commitment and love between family members. Sofia and Derek are like any other parents, well, apart from the fact that they are vampires. They love their children and try to discipline them as any parent would. We see Rose being a bit of a normal teenager, disobeying her parents and testing her limits.
And, we get glimpses into things that are going on outside of The Shade. Both on the human side and on the evil witches realm. So much is still unknown. And of course, the ending leaves us completely wanting more. So off I go to start the next book, A Chase of Prey. Once again, this is another wonderful installment to the series.

I think it’s great that even after all these books, this series still has the ability to surprise me! This series has always been full of twists and turns and this 10th installment was no exception. Based on where things left off in the last book I was pretty sure I had a good idea of the struggles that our crew of The Shade would face in this one, but instead the story took a hard right and went down a completely different path than I was expecting! In this book we get much more of Caleb and I am as intrigued as ever by his character and was glad to see more through his eyes, I missed him in the last book. We also get snippets of a few other characters that we haven’t heard from in a while, so I really liked those updates and I liked the opportunities for future storylines that those snippets opened up.
In the last book we saw how Kiev and Mona were woven back into the story and I think that integration was solidified further with the events in this book, we saw even more characters and places from that series come into play in this book. I think the author really did a great job of tying those books back into the overall storyline, it was seamless and cleverly done. If you read my other reviews on this series or the Kiev trilogy, it’s no secret that I am not Mona’s #1 fan but I actually found her to be likable in this book so maybe there’s hope yet for her to win me over! Only time will tell.
I have to say, there is one chain of events between Sofia, Derek and Kiev that when it was first presented I had to fight the urge to roll my eyes. It seemed a little cheesy and absurd, but when it played out, it actually was quite comical and I found myself laughing out loud at what was going on. I love that in addition to all of the action and adventure in this series it can also make me laugh, really these books have a bit of everything!
I really love that since the author has returned to The Shade that she’s popping out books every month, it’s just long enough in between so you don’t mind the wait but not too long that you forget everything that happened in the prior book. And the books are such quick reads that it’s so easy to squeeze them in when a new one is released. Ms. Forrest has created such a great world and strong characters and because of how she cleverly keeps expanding this world I think that this series can continue on for quite some time!

As always it's a fantastic read.
While I may have downloaded this book in the early hours I learnt my lesson last time and I didn't even peak at the first page, these books are seriously addictive and with book 9 I only intended to read the first couple of pages and then I was up half the night finishing the book.
So lesson learnt I waited until I knew I had time to read and enjoy this book and wow it certainly didn't disappoint, after the cliffhanger of the previous book we were left wondering how Sofia and Derek could possibly be saved, that's if they are to be saved at all, surely Bella wouldn't do that to us.
The focus of these books has been gradually shifting to the twins which is I believe what's making them so interesting, don't get me wrong I love Sofia and Derek and I couldn't wait to read the continuation of their story but the twins add a whole new dimension and the fact that they're human makes them more vulnerable and we also have the romance option, Sofia and Derek are committed to each other so any new romance has to come from elsewhere and where better than their children.
In this book not everyone is as they appear, the Shade is safe for now but for how long, people we thought we'd seen the last of are back plus a new, or rather an old evil is threatening everything, Vivienne's visions are back and they're not good, where does Caleb's loyalty really stand, with the woman he once loved who is hardly recognisable anymore or with the Shades Princess, Rose.
This is a fast fantastic read with, as we've come to expect a huge cliffhanger ending which leaves you desperately waiting for the next book 'A Chase of Prey' which is due out 21st March.

Wow! Another Homerun! Bella has knocked it out of the park again! A Spell of Time is the tenth release in Bella Forrest's amazing hit series, A Shade of Vampire and it is fantastic! I was hooked from the very first book and now anxiously await each release. This is a paranormal story that is so unlike any other that I have ever read. It is exciting, original, imaginative, very well developed, thrilling, riveting, action packed, mysterious, suspenseful, addictive and oh so romantic. It is smart, intelligent, well written and flows beautifully. The characters are fascinating, captivating,, intriguing, engaging, endearing, downright sexy and just out of this world! Literally! I love it! I never tire of visiting my friends of 'The Shade'. It always feels like returning home. If you love paranormal romance, magic, fantasy, suspense and adventure, then you will surely enjoy A Shade of Vampire series. Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

I am a fan of this series but this one didn't do a whole lot for me. I felt like it was all over the place. I was very disappointed how the bond over Sofia and Derek played out. I was hoping it would have been a bigger part of the story since there was a giant cliffhanger from book 9 and it wasn't. There was a lot going on. There was even a chapter on Abby..why? We jumped from character to character from story line to story line. Maybe all those story lines and jumping to different characters will be relevant in the next book. Hopefully Bella isn't rushing the books for her fans. Quality over quantity.

For one thing...I felt like there are way too many books for this series. It took me a long time to start up with it, and I only did it because I liked the author and I liked the first part of the series before we started leaning towards like 18 books. The great thing about this author and the publisher is that these books come out wicked fast. Makes me wonder whether the author just has that amount of time and inspiration penciled on a huge publishing deal or if all of this had long since been planned out and written. Despite the fast releases, I can hardly find any errors. I really don't think I came across any. They weren't bold and I was into the story enough not to even notice.
Now despite my reservation towards there being such a huge collection in this series, the new characters eventually started to get to me. Their past was intriguing. I love Derek and Sophia and there will be nothing to match up to the first five books. But I like Rose, I like Caleb, and I like Annora and her complexity [though she had annoyed me for quite sometime]. Towards the end of this book, I sympathized with her. As much as I like Caleb and Rose and as much as I belief that they're the new Derek and Sophia hook up, I kind of am cheering for Caleb and Annora. I have a feeling though that it won't pan out.
It's difficult to mesh these many characters together successfully. I have to admit that there were parts that I skipped over. Certain things I feel like are taking too much time to build up, but I think that I'm just eager to really get to the meat and potatoes and Rose's story that it makes me impatient.
Overall the characters are still great. I miss my classic Derek and Sophia but there is plenty of room for Rose and Caleb along with the supporting cast. The witches are very interesting and I am intrigued now to see where this goes. A+ for whoever's decision it was to put this author and series in kindle unlimited. I'm getting my money's worth and it has pushed me to continue reading this series. Not disappointed at all this far.

what can I say another completely wonderful story.. I loved this story as with all of this series ...That Rose is always getting into trouble lol...well done Bella...I will be looking for part 11 soon...It is so great to get so involved with the characters that a person can literally read one of Bella's book in a day..Bella you are such an awesome writer I will never forget that you sent me your first book in this series by PDF when I entered a contest that you had through ŷ.. you have made a fan with me..I thank you for choosing me to have the pleasure of reading your first book..I was so amazed at your writing techniques and how your story flows so well..so thank you again Bella for never letting your fans down...keep up the good work

10 books in and I am still completely obsessed with this series. Bella Forrest takes you to another world that you don't want to leave. This book begins where book 9 ended and trust me it is fast paced to the point where I had to double check when I was done. I read it in one sitting. There's adventure, romance, suspense, and everything you would expect from the shade. I can't wait till book 11 because I was left with a major cliffhanger. Great job yet again, I loved it.

I was so excited for this book to come out and it did not disappoint! The stuff going on between Rose and Caleb is so good and I really want there to be something more then just friends. These books are always so intriguing and beautifully written. They keep the reader so interested and always wanting more. I do wish the stories weren't so short but it's not so bad since the next one comes out only a month later and I already preordered it!

Wow!
Rose is lured by one of the new supernatural's that now live on the island; Micah, the werewolf. But what she doesn't know is that after forming a budding relationship with him, he's been kidnapped by the famous dark warlock, Rhys; who is now his clone. Micah is locked up in a dungeon bleeding and broken.
After gaining Rose's trust, the warlock/wolf takes a boat and rows past Mona's protection spell and finally revealing his true identity when he beats her to unconscious. All along the friendship she made with Micah was really with Rhys in disguise.
Caleb is trying to figure out ways to restore Annora to her old self before the darkness took over and destroyed their love. He tricks her by telling her he wants to become a warlock himself and she panics. But he won't take no for an answer. When they travel to Lilith, the last ancient dark witch, she agrees to talk to him alone. Caleb tells her what he needs from her and she eventually gives in. But unknowingly to both Caleb and Annora, she changes Annora back to the vampire capable of loving him again.
While Annora is unconscious from the transformation, Rhys brings Lilith a gift, Rose Novak. They have plans for her. Caleb doesn't want her to turn to the darkness, so he helps her escape and now both of them are on the run trying to get back to The Shade.

When they travel to Lilith, the last ancient dark witch, she agrees to talk to him alone. Caleb tells her what he needs from her and she eventually gives in. But unknowingly to both Caleb and Annora, she changes Annora back to the vampire capable of loving him again.
While Annora is unconscious from the transformation, Rhys brings Lilith a gift, Rose Novak. They have plans for her. Caleb doesn't want her to turn to the darkness, so he helps her escape and now both of them are on the run trying to get back to The Shade.

Awesome
Ok so just as the previous books this one was also pretty awesome. Sometimes I found myself wishing through because I felt it was a bit long winded. Then something exciting happened and I found myself engulfed in the plot.
So many twist!!! One I saw coming but the other not by a long shot.
More interesting characters, old ones coming back in a new light. Amazing!! Although this starts the new generation, the regulars we live are still all active. Sophia, Derek, Vivianne and Keiv. 🤭😉

Derek and Sofia return to the shade unknowingly that annora had cast a deadly spell on them. Caleb finds out and secretly told the shades witch Mona about it. While all of this is going on Rose meets Micah the werewolf in the shade and,he wants to spend so,much time with her. Only to discover it's not Micah but a deadlock. When Caleb sees Rose tied up and gaged he frees her and is trying to get back to the shade before she's captured again. Great series. Now onto the nest installment.

I absolutely loved this book. There were a few typos in my kindle copy, but all in all, I couldn’t stop reading. I purchased the next book as soon as I finished this one, and I’m trying to type as quickly as I can do I can return to the adventure, suspense, and consuming delight of reading such a great book as this. If you live vampires, witches and are a sucker for simmering romance, this is your book. Most definitely a good read.

Bella Forrest has done it again. The pace is steady through the entire book and I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed the depth of the characters and how she has woven the stories together. She has also taken us on some twists and turns in the emotional story of Caleb which piqued my interest. I wasn't expecting the turn of events. Bella has a way of sucking you into the story and leading you where she wants you to go, while engaging you in the characters, leaving no one behind

Great read as always
Bella never seen to disappoint when it comes to her writing. I love how she never strays from the main point of the story and always find a way to bring back characters (who I thought was long gone) from recent events. I highly recommend the shade series for anyone who loves paranormal creatures

Bella Forrest doesn’t disappoint with this series! This one was a little darker than some of them but still an entertaining book. You are captured by the story and before you know it you’ve reached the end. I’m so thankful these are available on Kindle Unlimited!
