Kauai, Hawaii—tropical paradise, vibrant jungle, turquoise sea... and sensuous nights that hide vampires so powerful they can change the world.

Raphael—powerful, extraordinary, arrogant. He’s been eliminating rivals and gathering allies, determined not just to survive, but to demolish the Europeans who think they can steal what he’s worked for centuries to create. In a final bid to avert a war that seems inevitable, Raphael agrees to meet an enemy he knows of old. She is formidable, wily, and not to be trusted. But in his arrogance, Raphael believes he can foil whatever treachery she has brewing.

Cynthia Leighton—Raphael’s human mate, beautiful, smart, and deadly when threatened. She doesn’t trust anyone, much less a powerful vampire claiming to want peace. So while Raphael prepares to negotiate a treaty, Cyn is preparing for the inevitable double-cross that she knows is coming. Raphael worries about saving thousands of vampire lives. She only cares about one, and she will do anything to keep him alive and in her arms.

When Cyn is proven right, when it all falls apart and Raphael’s enemies draw on ancient magic to trap him, taking him away from Cyn and out of the war, it all falls to her—to find Raphael, to save the thousands of vampires who will die if she doesn’t succeed... and to kill every single being, human or vampire, who gets in her way.

OMG this was so good. The great Raphael falls and his kick ass human mate has to ride in and save the day. I loved how much of Juro and Lucia there was. They are such a cute couple. I need Juro's twin oh Ken to get a mate too. Elke got a man and it was so fun. This was a exciting, heartbreaking and sweet read. I enjoyed it so much. Not surprising since it centered around Raph and Cyn who I adore! Cant' wait to read the next one!

I couldn't ask for anything more than a full length book featuring one of my all-time favorite M/F couples, Raphael and Cyn. They are usually relegated to the novellas in the series while the new guy/gal takes center stage, but here we got to see all Raphael and Cyn, and it was amazing.

I couldn't put this book down, and I read the entire thing in one day. It was suspenseful, sexy, and, as always, without unnecessary drama. Raphael and Cyn are a rock-solid couple, and I'm so happy that doesn't mess with that.

So good. So very good.

**MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS**
This is my least favorite book of Raphael and Cyn. Why, you'd ask? Well, Raphael is barely in it. Then there's Nick apparently being high up the food change, suddenly making the image of the all powerful Raphael go away. The author has been immensely loyal to Raphael until this - or more correctly up until book 10.5 - book. Which soon starts her spin-off series Stone Warriors with Nick's men - if I remember correctly...? While Nick seemed interesting in the short meetings we had with him before this book, I don't like him now. As you know, Raphael is my all time favorite among Reynolds men/books, and he's even high on my list of favorite characters of all time, so him now possibly having an equal in power, worries me and makes me angry. I think this is one of the reasons I had a long break from the series. I can't stand anyone even being considered more powerful than Raphael. It just doesn't work or feel right. That said, I'd die for Raphael and most of me want Cyn gone so I can take her place, but I do adore that woman.
New Rating: 3 stars.

**MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS**
And besides, his Cyn was coming for him. Dear Mathilde was about to learn just how lethal one human female could be.

You know what I love about Raphael and Cyn? They don't try to change each other. Cyn isn't trying to make Raphael "good" or "nice", and Raphael isn't trying to make Cyn a "housewife" or "weak". He treats like he she's his best asset and she accepts Raphael just as he is: his good sides, and his bad sides. A perfect couple. A dangerous couple.
If Raphael died, every vampire in the western territory—and that was thousands of vampires, including the two in this room—would know instantly. Hell, Raphael’s death would probably be felt by every vampire in North America, no matter how strong or weak they were. He was just that powerful.

What I realized that I didn't like was:
There is always something that bothers me in a book, or series, and in this case I got five things that bothers me.
But then, if Raphael died, there wouldn’t be a hole deep enough for Mathilde to hide in. Lucas would hunt her down and stake her for the sun, and Cyn would be right there, holding the hammer..

1. Lucas? What about Duncan?
For the first two books (or was it three), Duncan was Raphael's second in command (or lieutenant), and when he leaves, not once do we hear from him worrying about Raphael. That bothers me.
2. Really? How's that possible?
↳Raphael getting trapped. It kinda destroys the illusion of him being all powerful.
3. Where's Raphael?
 There's barely any Raphael in this book. Since Raphael is my favorite Lord, I kinda want him there a l l t h e t i m e.
4. Too much?
Though I love a sexy, streaming scene with Raphael, there's a tiny bit too much sex in this book. Hell, there's a bit too much in this whole series.
5. Kinda the same as point two.
I didn't like feeling like that...
“I don’t think you understand the power it took for Raphael to touch Cyn at all. Even at full strength, it takes some serious mojo for a vampire to communicate with a human during his daylight sleep. For Raphael to do so now, after what they’ve done to him? That’s unbelievable.

Other than that, I really like the side character, though I don't actually care for them outside of them being side characters in Cyn and Raphael's books. Meaning: I don't bother reading the other's stories. However, I love when they are side characters. I l o v e Raphael's vampires' reaction to him, Juro, Ken’ichi, Elke, Jared, Lucas....I love it! Their loyalty is so strong, their love so powerful, it literally can bring on to tears.
“Know this, Cynthia, Lucas said in a rare moment of seriousness. “There are very few beings who truly matter to me in this world. I will do anything for Raphael. Anything.

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (Adult) Paranormal Romance

5 Trouble in Paradise Stars!!!

WOW, I just loved this book!! Raphael and Cyn are the focal point in this book, but we also get plenty of Juro, Luci, Elke, and Juro's always silent twin Ken'ichi, who is not at all silent in this book!! They all have pretty substantial roles here, along with cameo's from Lucas, Duncan, and Murphy, who all rally around Cyn when things go from bad to worse for Raphael.

“I am ready to depart,' Ken'ichi agreed, pushing away from the counter. Elke rolled her eyes at him, then looked at Cyn. “What he meant to say was, “Hell, yeah, let's go fuck up a geek!

Powerful vampire Lord Raphael and his mate (his “Lܲⲹ) Cyn travel to Hawaii to meet with the powerful, cunning, and just plain evil European Master vamp Mathilde, who is ready to make her play to attempt take over Raphael's holdings on the west coast, and she has no problem fighting dirty...very, very, dirty to make sure she wins.

I don't want to say too much and give anything away, but I have to say, I love this series, and it just keeps getting better as it moves forward. I've said it before, I'm always happy to get more Raphael and Cyn, I love them as a couple and I hope their fantastic love affair never, ever ends!! There is never a dull moment for our favorite Lord and his Lubimaya!!

“You're never going to let me forget that, are you?
“That your mine? Never.
“You understand, that means you're mine, too, right?
“That goes without saying.
“Well, say it anyway.
Raphael Chuckled. “My Cyn, the love of my life, I am yours.
“Well, shoot. You don't have to t be so sweet about it.

I was happily excited to have Juro and Luci together, and look forward to seeing even more of them in the future!! I'm already ready for the next ViA book right now!!

Cynfully amazing was the first thing that came to mind upon finishing D.B. Reynolds ninth book in the Vampires in America series. She truly is far and away one of my all time favorite paranormal romance authors. It’s so much more than the romance that draws me in every time. It’s the brilliance of her characters and the staying power of the world she has created that always keeps me coming back for more. Deception really is a jewel in her crown of books.

Cynthia Leighton has, from the very start, been a force to reckon with. She is powerful, smart, strong, and more that capable. She only needed a man in her life to compliment the woman she already was, not fix or make her. She belongs to herself, but gives everything to the man…or, should I say, the vamp. She loves Raphael. Yes, our vampire lord Raphael is sexy as hell and adorably arrogant as always.

It’s when the unscrupulous enemies from the old country bring him to his knees that Cyn shows that she will burn the world to ash to get her man back.

Deception is a resounding epitaph to girl power. I LOVED it.

First read on 8 January 2015, and re-read in February 2016.

While some authors allow a reader the simple pleasure of escapism, others suck you up into their world and deposit you smack bang in the middle of the fray, where you marvel at the depth of their imagination.

The Vampires in America have kept me engrossed from the very beginning and no couple has seized my attention more than Raphael and Cyn. In Deception this captivating couple are once again front and centre, taking readers on an adrenaline-charged adventure into the murky waters of foreign invasion, power plays and duplicity among foes.

The first eight books have covered the North American Vampire Lords, their territories and how the women in their lives captured their hearts, but this ninth story starts to unravel the magnitude of the European fractions in their quest for ultimate supremacy and The Vampire Wars that will surely be the focus of future books.

I have continued to heap high praise on this series since its conception in 2008, but even I am in awe of an author who continues to produce action-packed stories with compelling plots, emotionally heartbreaking scenarios and a book that is so extraordinary it will stay with the reader long after the last page is turned.

DECEPTION in this reader’s opinion is THE BEST STORY in the series to date; so if D.B. Reynolds can raise the bar at this stage in the series, I can’t wait to see what’s still to come.

OK, I admit it..I have a girl crush on D.B. Reynolds after all she has given me Raphael my ultimate book boyfriend and 8 awesome novels all of which are on my favourite shelf. She has also given me one of the most Kick-ass Heroines since Cat and Kate Daniels. So when a new book is announced I stalk her...I *need* to see cover releases, blurb releases and any excerpts she allows us to see. I adore that she teases us with novellas in between her full novel releases so we can have our Vampires in America "fix". Now she has spun off a series at the same time as continuing my beloved ViA. Vampires in America: The Vampire Wars was given to me by Netgalley for an honest review so thank you Bellebooks and D.B. Reynolds.

What can I say, this book kicks ass!!! Everything I expect from DBR and more. In the last several books the invasion from the European Vamps have been a nigh. In Vincent we had our first overt attack but in Deception we have the first real "shot" fired. Target one.....my beloved Raphael and that is all I"m gonna share about the book cause you *HAVE* to read it to appreciate it. I will say it is definitely a Raphael/Cyn book but we gets lots of time with Juro, Lucia, Elke and Ke.....umm...Juro's twin brother. *grin* you have to read to find out his name...and I will give one more tid bit....Elke finds a love interest....yup *wiggles* I love it!!!!

Usually at book 9 in a series you have at least 1 so/so book that is more a story vehicle than a sink your teeth in and hang on for the ride book but so far DBR has made each book a home run! Each book moves the story in what you know is a finely manipulated well written way, DBR's continuity person deserves a hot fudge Sundae each day as a reward for keeping the story clean with so many characters and threads of a story it must be hell to keep them straight and remember each exact detail.

I adore all the characters in ViA and love how each one has thier own individuality but are all easy to relate to and totally likeable. There is a vampire every reader will love:) ... In this novel we do meet one new character who is human and it seems we are going to be seeing more of him in future books and we meet a "blast from the past" who is other...*evil grin* you will have to read the book to see to what I'm hinting:)

This book gets a huge shining 5 star rating and has me so excited for the next book I don't know how I am going to last...Alliance please I need you soon! If you have not yet been introduced to Vampires in American it is really time you start or if you are a fan this is a DO NOT MISS read. Deception releases March 31, 2015! Pre order NOW!

Wow, just wow!!!

Now this is one slam-bang, exciting, fun read. Soooo good. Often, this far into an established series, the overarching plotlines become formulaic and complacent. Not so here. Reynolds has pulled out all the stops and is taking the series in a fresh new direction; and boy is it great fun to read. Oh, and the name of Juro's twin is finally revealed...and he talks! He actually has a large role in the book, as does Juro. This is no pansy-ass fluff vampire series. These are some heavy duty bad boy fighting vamps...who fall hard for the right woman, of course.

Reynolds is taking the reader back to the beginning; back to where it all began with the powerful Master Vampire Raphael and his mate Cyn. The Vampire War that has been brewing for the last few books is coming to fruition. The powerful and evil European Master Vamp Mathilde is ready to make her play to take over Raphael's holdings on the west coast of the US and beyond; and she will fight very, very, dirty to make sure she wins.

I don't want to say too much, as it will be incredibly spoilery. Just know that this is an exciting, gripping book in an always great UF/PNR series. Lots of stuff happens, important stuff; and there are huge forward leaps being taken in this vampire world. There are a couple of plot inconsistencies, but not enough that it affected my immense enjoyment of the story. I'm really liking that the book is harking back to the more gritty UF feel of the early stories.

Love this series, and it is getting better and better as it goes along. I'm ready for the next book Alliance right now...and the coming together of all the master vampire leads from previous books...

Just when I think D.B. Reynolds has blown my socks off, she releases a new book and proves me wrong EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. was a fast paced, heart pumping read that kept me IN IT from beginning to action. The story was amazing and the action was intense. You have never seen Raphael and Cyn like this before and you need to drop what you're doing RIGHT NOW to pick up this book. There are revelations in the story that will leave you speechless and wondering...and wanting much more. Amazing read!

In an attempt to avoid war with the European vampires, Lord of the West Raphael agrees to a meeting in Hawaii. Although he knows it's a trap, he believes he will walk out of the talks and back to his Cyn. But he has underestimated his foe and now his human mate will be his best chance at escaping and returning back home before his enemy lays claim to everything he's worked centuries building.

A great thing happens in Deception. Cyn and Raphael take on roles fans have yet to see them in and the shakeup gives a fresh spin to the couple that's the heart of this series.

Tensions have been brewing between the North American vampire Lords and the Europeans who believe they are superior and can take any land if they choose. The North American Lords are ready to fight and if there is a slim chance of avoiding war, Raphael will take it. Raphael is confident he'll have the upper hand in the meeting but surprise, they've come prepared. To see Raphael as a captive is oddly fascinating. The experience humbles him (a little) and his composure during it all is unshakable. Having him out of his element works because it treats me to a whole new side of him. He's thinking and strategizing in different ways and seeing him not completely in charge of a situation is really...interesting. Can't think of a better way to describe it.

Cyn has been armed and at Raphael's side since the early days of this series and now that he's not there, she has to find her footing. Seeing Cyn shaken up is as unexpected as seeing Raphael as a captive. She has to focus and stay composed for herself and the vampires around her who are just as upset. It's not something I want to see often yet watching Cyn fall apart then pull herself back together and pull off a feat against such a powerful enemy is awesome. She's such a badass!

Everyone is ready to fight for Lord Raphael. Ken'ichi (Juro's twin), Robbie, and Elke are at Cyn's side while Jared and Juro protect the home front in Malibu against Mathilde, the European Lord at the helm of Raphael's abduction. Everyone steps up their game and the additional page time displays more of each personality. They make up a really great supporting cast and are essential to this book. And Lucas! That's something you'll need to experience for yourself.

My one disappoint is Mathilde. She makes a huge splash during her first appearance by capturing one of the strongest vampires on the planet. This means there's going to be a heck of a showdown, right? Eh, not so much. Mathilde is older than Raphael and has territory in France. She shares a history with Raphael and their parting before he came to America during its infancy was not a friendly one. It's set up for a grand finale yet when it comes time, Mathilde is a bug smashed against the windshield of a semi-truck. In no way do I want her to win but the fight feels a little too easy for my blood thirsty tastes.

Deception takes you out of the comfort zone you built for this series and pulls your emotions in all different directions. War seems inevitable at this point and it's driving Raphael and Cyn into dark places. I like this new tone and that the elements and characters that had me falling for this series are still present. Raphael and Cyn continue to dominate and although they're apart for a good chunk of the book, the romance is no less passionate and sexy. It's a great installment and one fans will devour.

I loved Cyn and Raphael in the first book and here I was not disappointed! :)

They both are awesome. Cyn maybe a little too much...but still I loved her!

Raphael was to swoon over, as usual!

Action packed, fast paced, in one word: excellent!

Highly recommended to everybody who loves intelligent (no TSTL moment here!) vampire romance!

... And we are back to the earlier books of the series: gritty, violent, UF-themed rather than simply PNR. What a ride.

I loved this series since I stumbled into Raphael in 2010 and fell in love with... Cyn. Nope, I've not switched sides. Yet. But Cynthia was an heroine I could absolutely identify with. Nope, I'm not beautiful nor rich. But her world views, her abilities, her personality..yep. She was the one for me.

I love this series, all the books and novellas, but there's no doubt that the stories that centre on the West have maintained a UF core that I love way more.
All Ms Reynolds' stories are usually way more than simply romance, they are part of an extended story arch which makes her books simply... "more". (Nope, no writer here...)

Deception brings the brewing war home. And it's great to see (again) how is the brilliance of a human woman that saves (again) the day for the Vamp. The rest you have to read for yourself. Any imperfection of the road are absolutely masked by the thrilling you get while traveling it.

Know this: Cyn never extends her human frailty in saving the day. You don't get a deus ex machina, but a real character with a human reaction to life.

Alliance doesn't come soon enough.

Deception is book 9 in the Vampires in America series and goes back to the beginning with the powerful vampire lord Raphael and his mate Cyn. After the events at the end of Vincent we were aware that the European vampires want American territories. So when Raphael receives an invitation to meet with the European lords in Hawaii even though he knows its a trap he goes anyway. This proves to be a big mistake because in his arrogance he never expects the kind of trap that is waiting for him and so this starts the countdown that would lead Cyn back to her mate.

Cynthia Leighton has been and will always be one of my favorite females. She is a badass with her guns, she's resourceful and the depth of her love for Raphael is what makes her perfect. As Cyn tries her best to locate Raphael since time is running out we see the confident Cyn but we also see the vulnerable Cyn who can't live without Raphael. I absolutely loved this story and I loved seeing the depth of their love for one another. I enjoyed all the characters involved and the sexy gentleman for Cyn's past was a pleasant surprise and I really hope we hear from him again.

Cyn and Raphael are a premier human/vampire couple. This book proves, once again, how their chemistry is incendiary. However, I'm beginning to feel like there might be just a wee bit too much sex in the book. Unfortunately, I'm starting to skim through the intimate scenes. I do enjoy the on-going storyline and am anxious to see how Raphael will address the European interlopers.

4.5/5; 5 stars; A

Cyn rules! She is such an awesome heroine. This book puts Cyn front and center as she kicks ass and takes no prisoners....wait...she does take a couple of prisoners but you will have to read the book to find out why.

I am enjoying this series as much now as I did several books ago and not, as so often is the case with series, thinking the author better be getting close to the end of the road.

My one quibble is with the sex. There was way too much of it. Tastefully done and all, Cyn and Raphael only, it still detracted from the very strong Urban Fantasy feel of this installment. This is a very minor quibble.

Vampires in America started out as a low key series I started reading when looking for books in a small ebook store that has since gone out of business. Now, in my opinion, it stands head and shoulders above some of the series by much more well known authors.

I've been a fan of this series from the very first book, and this story brings us back to my favorite couple, Raphael and Cyn. The series, each book featuring one vampire lord meeting his (or in one case, her) mate while claiming a North American territory, has shown Raphael building alliances in preparation for an eventual showdown with the older and, in some cases, more powerful European vampires who covet his holdings. That showdown, hinted at in the most recent books and short stories, truly begins in this book.

Raphael receives a missive requesting his presence for a negotiation to take place in Hawaii. Although he's not fooled by the ploy and knows it is a trap of some sort, he attends the meeting. It's not giving much away to say that things do not go exactly as expected and, because of that, we get to see Cyn at her best and we get to know her "team," including Juro's until-now silent brother, a bit better. Old friends and allies make appearances, some revealing surprises, all a wonderful taste of how the characters we've come to know over the course of the last several books will play roles in the developing war with the European vampires.

While the plotline concerning the growing conflict was exciting, the most satisfying part of the story was in the evolving relationships, especially that between Raphael and Cyn. While the first couple of books featuring the two had a more UF feel to them, letting the romantic aspect of the story build over the course of more than one book, most of the other additions to the series were more PNR, featuring one couple and their HEA. In each book and short story that has featured Cyn and Raphael, however, the relationship has grown and deepened. This story is no different. While Raphael always has struggled to rein in his protective instincts with Cyn, his faith and trust in her in this story are especially wonderful, making their interactions all the more poignant and satisfying. D.B. Reynolds' great steamy sex scenes are the icing on a very tasty cake.

All in all, this is one of the strongest entries in the excellent Vampires in America series. I can't wait for the next one to see what happens to some of my favorite fictional characters.

WOW! From start to finish the book packs a punch. Buckle up everyone because you are in for an awesome wild ride!

Raphael and Cyn are off to Hawaii for a requested meeting knowing war is on the horizon. Of course everything blows up when Raphael is a bit too arrogant and Bad Ass Cyn is in her element taking no prisoners in order to save him before time runs out.

Cyn is my favorite book heroine. She can take care of herself and doesn't let anyone stand her way when it comes to Raphael and his safety. She loves him passionately and isn't afraid to show her vulnerability with him.

Cyn and Raphael are one of my favorite book couples so getting a full story is like a delicious treat. I can always expect twists and turns, not to mention a lot of hot sexy moments. Yes Please! No one packs more passion into a story like D.B. Reynolds. Cyn and Raphael are in a world all their own when it comes to steaming up the sheets (or the shower, or a jet bed for that matter).

Great to see Lucas be his charming self along with Elke getting herself some lovin (in the middle of all the chaos no less) made for some light moments. With each book Juro becomes more and more swoonworthy with his quiet demeanor.

This series just gets better and better and I can't wait for more.

I think Donna has outdone herself this time! I haven't experienced such sense of urgency, such rush of adrenaline in a long while.

D.B.'s books have always been action-driven , and it's no secret that Raphael and Cyn have remained everyone's favourite couple since the beginning of this series. So I was absolutely ecstatic when I found out there was another full book about them.

Raphael finally has to confront European vampires, and for that he needs to travel to Hawaii. Of course Cyn is worried about a possible trap, treachery and direct confrontation, so she makes her own contingency plans for such a situation.

And it does happen. And it's something really bad. So bad that Cyn and her team of loyal Raphael's supporters have to race against time to save her mate.

It was lovely to see Cyn do what she does best: investigate and kick ass. All Raphael's alliances and friendships really pulled through in the time of need, and we've even seen a cameo appearance from one of his closest friends. Also when Raphael is pissed off, he is magnificent! I'm just saying. And I loved Lucas in here, he was an absolute darling.

There is a surprising twist in the end which made me question if the series will go in a different direction after this book, but in any case I can't wait too find out what is going to happen next!

Overall, this is a fantastic urban fantasy/paranormal romance; pure emotion & drive, really good character growth and D.B.'s signature kick ass female heroines.

I loved this latest installment in the Vampires in America series. Cyn and Raphael are the focus of this story, however, we see many of our favs from the series. The war with the European vampires have started and Raphael is the first stepping stone in that war. Although Cyn and Raphael spend the majority of the book apart, their connection and ability to pull each other through are evident. A great entry in the series.

and Cyn learn thst the European vampires are determined to take America over. So they head over to the islands of Hawaii, a place of exotic beauty but also of dangerous secrets and betrayal. When they learn that a old and ancient vampire Mathilde, a vampire from Raphael’s past, sets up a meeting, Cyn knows that its a trap. A trap she is determined to save her mate from. Raphael knows that there is danger, but in his arrogance he doesn’t see the trap, but Cyn prepares for it. So when the night of the meeting arrives, and Raphael ends up a prisoner, trapped with magical bindings, his strength depleted, he has faith in his Cyn to save him. She is his ace in the hole to destroy his enemy. After Cyn finds the man she loves imprisoned by a group of master vampires, she knows that she will have to find him, and the best way to free him, because vampires like Mathilde will never see her coming or the mistakes she is making is capturing Raphael and attempting to take over his territory.

Plot and Story Line
Deception is the ninth installment, of this wonderful vampire series. From the first moment I discovered this author I was very impressed with her writing style and the way she captivates her readers with the detail and vivid emotion displayed in her stories. Deception is a story with Rapahel and Cyn at the center focus, but what was also a great treat, was seeing some other great characters such as Lucas, Duncan and a couple of Cyn’s friends that are mated with other vampire lords. What we have with this story is a European vampire lord that is desperate for power, and wants Raphael’s territory. We see a deception form, and see the great and powerful Raphael (a character I have loved from the beginning) be imprisoned and weakened. Cyn is his key. Cyn knows that when Raphael is taken captive, it will be up to her to save him, a human woman against master vampires. Not much pressure right? Well Cyn with a few others stay hidden in the wilds of Hawaii, thinking up a strategy to rescue Raphael. Cyn is a heroine I have loved from the beginning, she is capable, passionate, and a fighter especially when someone she loves is in danger. Her first priority is Rapahel and getting him back before Mathilde will take his territory. As the story unfolds, we see Cyn’s strength of will and her iron determination to beat the vampires at their own game. Whew was this story a killer for me…one of the best books of the series and I adored every stimulating page. From the beginning you know that you are in for one hell of an adventure, I found that this story was stunning in every plot change, and the beautifully written story that stuns its reader in its vibrancy of the characters, and the intensity of the story line that keeps you enthralled from beginning to end.

Cover
Oh this cover is just so intense and full of mystery and intrigue. We have at the top Raphael and is intense stare. And oh those eyes..I love that. We also see Cyn at the bottom, sitting in the moonlight with a gun in her hand. This is such a wonderful cover and matches the story perfectly.

Overall View
Deception is a story that will take you on a adventure from the beaches of Malibu to the exotic islands of Hawaii, with sensuality, danger, and a tale that will get your blood pumping and the adrenalin kicking in, a story of a love more powerful than any vampire.its a story that will leave you begging for more, Instantly addictive, erotic and a sexy delight!!

Deception by D.B. Reynolds (Vampires in America #9) I really loved DECEPTION! The story was fast-paced from start to finish and the storyline had me completely enthralled!

Raphael and Cyn are my favorite Vampires in America characters and I’m always happy whenever a book comes out where they’re center stage. I gotta tell you though, this book brought new dynamic to their relationship and I was so thankful for the shift.

Usually Raphael and Cyn spend the book arguing with each other over who will be protecting whom and it becomes a bit tedious after a while. The couple has been together for a while now and I loved watching how each character was able to FINALLY place their trust and faith in each other in order to get through their trials and tribulations in the story.

The secondary characters were essential to the story and were brilliantly written. I loved the introduction of a possible love interest for Elke, Cyn’s female vampire bodyguard. A character from the first book—RAPHAEL—also makes an appearance with some surprising revelations about his/her background. I’m excited to see how this dynamic develops!

Another 5 Star read for D.B. Reynolds! I’m greatly anticipating the next book!

***I was gifted an eBook copy from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***

I thought this was a really good entry to the series. It furthered the long arc quite nicely and also returned us to remembering why we liked Cyn all on her own before we even met Raphael.

If I had one negative comment it would be that Reynolds seemed to pack a lot of sex into the times when Raphael and Cyn were together. The storyline dictated that they were apart for much of the book and I found myself thinking that Reynolds must have had a specific number of coitus instances she was shooting for so she had to pack them into the times when they were not separated by the story. I flipped through a lot of them thinking 'Yeah, yeah, at least twice a day just like meal times." I've always found Reynolds' sex scenes very well done, so no argument about that, I was just not really in a frame of mind for so much of it.

And yes, the Epilogue is really just the set up for the next book.

The story, however, was excellent and it served up some set up for interesting developments in the long arc. This really is one of the best PNR series out right now.

Raphael likes to push his woman's limits, "give me a minute, she breathed. “I don’t think I have any feeling below the waist. Raphael grinned and thrust his hips lazily, sliding his cock slowly in and out of her still-trembling sex." I loved the playfulness these two had:
It was Cyn’s turn to laugh. “Look at you, Mr. Modern Guy, knowing what a registry is.
“There’s no need to be insulting, he responded , slapping her a**.
Raphael likes to make sure that others don't see what's his, "Raphael ran his gaze over her bare legs, her half -naked body covered only by his wrinkled suit jacket. “You said you have clothes in the vehicle." I liked this book I love this series seeing big bad vampires turn into teddy bears for the women they love

Sheesh, every time I read one of these novels, it makes me want to read the series all over again from the beginning. This book was awesome, as all of them are & I can't wait for the next one to be released! I have to admit that I was slightly bummed that it seemed like the individual vampire lord novels might be over, but was pleasantly surprised that this book captured my attention from the very first page & I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. Why I doubted D.B. Reynolds is beyond me..... I should know better by now - lessened learned. If you're a ViA fan, this book is a must read & if you've never read this series before & don't start reading it now, you're definitely missing out!

This is by far one of my favorite Vampires in America story. I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking this. However my traditional reviewing isn't going to work for this book. There is just too much information that would spoil the book for anyone who isn't up to date with the series. I'll say this much though. Cyn is at her kickass best in this book. Lord Raphael, he's just uber badass in this one. This book is definitely the set up book for the future arc about the war. Love, love this series! I can't wait for my next adventure which is Christian. Happy Reading!

So Very Good! I just love Raphael and Cyn. This was such a good story. Lots of action, suspense, great hot sex, and surprises I didn't see coming... aka NICK! I so hope that Nick gets a book. I cant even express how much I really want Nick to have a book - it opens up so much stuff. And I suppose this Christian guy is interesting (end teaser) But not as much as NICK! Now I have to wait for the next book and its going to kill me. Seriously, I have been reading some average to dnf books lately.
