What's worse than your little sister being smarter than you? Her being more popular, too. But sibling rivalry might just become sibling camaraderie when cliques get out of control in this fresh and fun novel. Sammi Tremayne's life isn't perfect, but she's got it on an even keel. She isn't ultra-popular, but she isn't at the bottom of the middle school social ladder, either. However, when it's decided that her brilliant little sister, Jorgianna, should skip not one, but two grades and join Sammi in eighth grade, Sammi's world is turned upside down. For someone who has always felt in the shadow of her little sister, this is Sammi's ultimate nightmare. To make matters even worse, Jorgianna is taken in by the most popular clique in school almost the minute she arrives: a clique that Sammi has been trying desperately to join. Everything, it seems, is going right for Jorgianna and wrong for Sammi. But there's more to each sister's story than the other realizes. And when the popular girls start to show their true colors to Jorgianna, can these siblings finally put aside their differences and show the queen bees who's boss?

The character development in The Sister Solution is phenomenal. Trudi has captured perfectly the dynamic that exists between two sisters. Instead of going for the typical "my sister is more popular and I feel inferior" storyline, the author has made the sibling relationship both complex and, therefore, realistic. Sammi is on the fringes of being popular but feels just average while her younger sister, Jorgianna, is quirky and artistic but excels at everything. I loved this story and it inspired me to write, which is always a sure sign I've read a good book!
I am such a huge fan of sister stories and this one didn't disappoint! It reminded me of a slightly older SUNNY SWEET IS SO NOT SORRY (which I also loved). Highly recommend!

This book is amazing even if there is no main character! I recommend this book for any one that has sisters.
My favorite character is Noah because he is nice. My favorite part is when Sammi does something really nice for her sister even though she would never ever do it. That is my favorite part because it shows that sisters have unconditional love for each other and will do anything to keep their bond.
I love the sister solution! It is a great book. It shows what it means to be a sister, and I reccomend this book for everyone! In the Sister Solution, it shows the importance of friendship, love, and sisters. I love this book!
Sammi has been trying to become part of the popular group for months, so she is devastated when her sister Jorgianna skips two grades and ends up in the same grade as her, then steals away the spot in the popular group that Sammi wanted! But then the girls that Jorgianna is friends with start showing their true colors, and Sammi realizes that maybe she doesn't need to be so mean to her sister.
As someone who has a sister that I got into fights with regularly when we were younger, I resonated a lot with these two. I also liked how Sammi gets to have a cute romance and Patrice's controlling nature was slowly revealed over the course of the book. The one thing that I wish would've happened is someone telling Mrs. Vanderslice that the photo that Patrice entered was actually Sammi's. But overall, a very enjoyable book that any middle schooler with a sister will appreciate and relate to.
Jorgianna, a girl with the highest IQ you’ll ever meet, skips two grades from sixth grade to eighth grade and joins her sister, Sammi in middle school. She meets the most popular girl, Patrice at an art gallery and they immediately hit off. Sammi is horrified and tried to warn Joegianna but she just shrugs it off. But only when Jorgianna gets hurt by Patrice does she realise that siblings are the only people who will always have your back no matter how much they say they hate you.
This book is amazing!!!! If you have sisters or even if you don’t, I totally recommend!!! The character development is stunning and is so touching and relatable to watch two sisters grow and love each other. Phenomenal job, Trudi!
This was pretty good but not edge of my seat good. I read this in a day which is a first for me since I take upto a week or so to read a book but I loved Jorgianna as I could relate to her in both of us being pretty shy.
Sammi usually doesn't mind that her little sister, Jorgianna, is a genius. That changes, though, when Jorgianna is allowed to skip two grades, making the two girls classmates - and candidates for entry into the same clique. While Sammi has been rejected again and again by popular queen bee Patrice Houston, Jorgianna is immediately welcomed into her inner circle. Then Sammi further jeopardizes her own social standing by taking an interest in a boy Patrice likes. Though the sisters have made a pact to ignore each other, it is just a matter of time before their separate social problems collide to create a situation they must resolve together.
While the characters in this book are very true to life and lively personality-wise, the far-fetched situation of a sibling jumping two grades mid-way through the year makes it a little difficult to buy into overall. Jorgianna and Sammi are both likable characters, and the reader really feels for their social predicaments, but there is always the sense of having to suspend one's disbelief that keeps the reader from feeling 100% invested in what is happening.
Patrice's behavior, however, is all too realistic, and any girl who has ever encountered a bully in the form of a mean girl will love to hate her. She might be a bit of a stereotype, but many middle school means girls do behave exactly as she does, and even as an adult, I couldn't quite root for her, even when it seemed like she might deserve a little bit of pity. Also strong are the supporting characters in the sisters' family, especially their grandmother, known as Banana. Often middle school friendship stories tend to cut out the family entirely, so it was nice to see this even balance between what's happening at home and what goes on at school.
Sister Solution falls in the middle as compared with other Aladdin mix titles. It's a better read than something like The (Almost) Perfect Guide to Imperfect Boys, but I didn't like it quite as much as the Summer Camp Secrets series, or 30 Days of No Gossip. Regardless of where it falls in the pecking order, however, it will certainly have appeal to readers in grades 5 to 8, especially those who have liked the Sisters Club series by Megan McDonald and Ten Rules for Living with My Sister by Ann M. Martin.
This is a fun book that explores sibling relationships and middle school friendships without being overly simplistic.
The Sister Solution is told in first person with alternately points of view, with some chapters narrated by Sammi and some by Jorgianna. This lets the reader see both sides of the sibling conflict, showing how complicated the situation is. It was nice to see both sides of the sibling relationship because frequently you only see one side. It’s also in present tense, which makes the story move quickly, and the voice of the sisters is very conversational, almost as though they’re telling us the story. It’s probably good for ages 9 and up—it helps to have some understanding of crushes, for instance—and it’s good for reluctant readers.
Once again, Trudi Trueit`s phenomenal writing really illustrates what it`s like to be a kid. A sibling, to be exact. Sammi Tremayne envies her younger sister Jorgianna`s intelligence and talent, while Jorgianna wishes she had Sammi`s beauty and social skills. When Jorgianna skips two grades and not only ends up as Sammi`s classmate, but befriends the popular girls whom Sammi is desperately trying to impress, it only heightens their rivalry. But as the popular girls begin to mistreat Jorgianna, the two sisters overcome their differences and become a team, showing that sibling rivalry can be overcome. The Sister Solution is a clever, funny, and uplifting book that will go straight to the hearts of sisters—and girls—everywhere.
In my opinion I loved this book. Since I do a reading program at my school they prefer us to read their library and I am usually good at doing just that but when I started to read this book I couldn't stop reading it.I'll admit when I first started to read it I was not that interested, like in most book, but after I got past the first chapter or two I couldn't stop reading it. I think Trudit Trueit did a phenomenal job on this book. The plot was great, the ending was amazing and she did a great job of getting the child reader excited. I loved the book. It was probably one of my favorite books and that must mean it is amazing because I've read quite a few books in my life.
I really loved the Sister Solution by Trudi Trueit! I enjoyed reading the book from both sisters' point of view. I like it when an author writes their story as if they were putting themselves in the place of a character. I truly felt the emotion and experiences that the characters were going through. When Sammi found out that Jorgianna was going to be in her grade I could feel the tension between both sisters. I have a younger sister and if she skipped a few grades and was in my grade I would probably feel a little bit like Sammi did.
I love authors who take the time to really flesh out quirky attributes for characters. Details, like having a fear of The Stairs of Death (escalators), are what make Sammi and Jorgianna come to life. There are many more beautifully written passages. I highly recommend you read this book, if for no other reason than to find out why grandma is lovingly called "Banana"! You won't be disappointed.
P.S. Jorgianna: I still treat each ride on an escalator with the same cautious anxiety - it's all in the timing. ;)
This book definitely describes what it is like to be a sibling. It shows the situation from both girls' points of view so you see that they're fighting for the same cause, they just don't realize it. It is a great book for a lot of age groups, especially those with siblings because they can most definitely relate. It was so much fun to read this book and follow the story of Sammi and Jorgianna and to see them come together in the end!
I like the way it is written, and love the way it shows the 2 points of view. This is a really unique book and would highly recommend it. I read this book, and it really impressed me. This is a very realistic situation, that most sisters can understand well. I think that if you, maybe, enjoyed the other Mix books, then you will absolutely LOVE this book.
I think this book was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved the part when the two girls Jorgianna and Sammi came together and learned to be friends!i also loves the part when Sammi stood up for Jorgianna so Jorgianna could have friends! I loved every part of the book !Great job Trudi Truet!
Oh, the perils of middle school! Trueit weaves in and out of the friendships, the embarrassments, the uncertainties and best of all, how to be true to one's self and do the right thing!
I love this book, the sisters' real struggles to become friends again, and Trueit's always spot-on portrayal of tween angst. Trudi, your characters always ring true.
Younger sister who is smarter--popular than older sister. Oh dear. I love this book. ALSO, IM LOVING THE HIGH REVIEWS!! I DONT SEE A REVIEW LOWER THAN 4 STARS!!! OMG YASSS
