The eleventh book in the Red Stone Security series see’s us getting Quinn Brody’s story. Although part of the series as a whole you can absolutely read these books as standalones. Prior to this I had only read book six, and although you get the vibe that all of the characters you come across have their own stories, nothing is confusing, and as a reader you don’t feel like you are missing important information or anything.

This was a quick, satisfying read, Quinn and Athena’s initial meeting being two months prior to the beginning of this story, 6 dates and all is looking good between them until Athena drops the bombshell she’s still carrying her V-Card, Quinn makes like Roadrunner, and she hasn’t seen or heard from him since. Not that that has stopped either of them thinking non-stop about the other.

An unexpected meeting at a work party for her new job, provides more than a little surprise when it turns out that Quinn also works for Red Stone Security. His past and their potential future then cross paths whilst on a job together in Las Vegas, and it is a race against time for Quinn to save the day and the damsel.

I really enjoyed this instalment in the Red Stone Security series, quick and sexy, well written and a likeable couple to top it all off. The plot wasn’t the most in-depth I have read from Katie, but she knows what works when it comes to her romantic suspense couples and has delivered it again with Sworn to Protect.

Bumping my rating to 3 stars :) Quinn and Athena's second chance romance was cuter this time around. There's something about a bad ass alpha being brought to his knees by his woman and Quinn's determination to get a second chance with Athena fed my grovel-loving heart. It also helped that he remained celibate the two months they were apart and that he doesn't shy away from apologizing for hurting her. The way they both address her insecurities and he wins back her trust went along way to redeem him (and my original rating).

description

I love Katie Reus, she knows how to write alpha Hs that fall hard for their hs. They’re determined to win, they’re faithful, brave and always treat their hs with love and respect. It’s a win/win when reading KR.

I picked up this one (out of order) because the blurb sounded interesting. Plus I’m a sucker for second chance romances with the H doing the groveling lol! And I enjoyed reading Sworn to Protect, it was easy, relatively drama free, and delivered a sweet romance between two likable characters.

That being said, this was missing that extra spark that makes a good read, great. For me, it was missing what usually hooks me right in, the tangible chemistry. I liked the characters, they were nice but nothing clicked for me that made me fall in love with them. I’m happy I read it but it wasn’t my favorite.

Sorry but I am a bit vindictive. Quinn was a douche and Athena was a pushover. I thought she was going to be tougher, but she kept being stunned stupid by Quinn and then folded like a cheap suit to his holiness.

Why do I not like Quinn?

HE DID NOT GO BACK FOR HER! He wants her back after she ends up in his line of sight!

The action was pretty good, but I just did not like the MCs.

**Book 11 in the Red Stone Security series, but can be read as a standalone.**

Athena starts her new job as an event planner at Red Stone Security before she realizes she will now be working with Quinn, the man she was dating two months ago before he ended things after he learned that she was a virgin. Her plan of avoiding him fails miserably after Quinn realizes he made a mistake in pushing Athena away, and he wants a second chance. Athena isn't as forgiving as he thought she would be though and she turns him down. When his past catches up to him though, and there is a threat to Athena, Quinn will stop at nothing to protect her. Guarding her puts Quinn in Athena's life and she can't run from the chemistry any longer.

Sworn to Protect is a faced paced story full of romance, thrill, suspense, and heat. Quinn was an amazing character and he was so passionate about protecting those who need it and helping others. He was really sweet in a bad ass way and I could totally imagine him in his bodyguard suit, making me drool.

The overall story was great and I really liked the mix of suspense and romance. Quinn was a jerk to Athena for breaking up with her over her virginity but he more than made up for it throughout the story. We never really learned much about Athena but I was pleasantly surprised by her character. I was nervous that she would be a shy, innocent virgin that doesn't seem to understand the world, but I actually liked her character.

I do wish that the ending didn't feel so rushed, but that was my only complaint. This is the 11th book in the Red Stone Series and I actually haven't read the first books, since this can be read as a standalone, but they are definitely on my list now.

3.5 start, ARC Review

When anyone asks me to recommend to them a romantic suspense series, I always include Red Stone Security. Katie Reus consistently provides drama, suspense, and a lot of hot smexy moments. Each book can also be read as a stand alone.

One of the best parts of this book is Athena. I like that Athena has worked hard to get to where she is in both her work and personal life. As a chubby teenager, her self-esteem to a hit, but she battled her way to the strong, confidence woman she is today. Experience gives her confidence in her instincts.

Quinn is one of the good guys. With a law enforcement experience, he has had to make some tough choices including saving the spouse of his supervisor from domestic violence. Putting his career on the line, he takes steps to do the right thing.

I don't mind saying I did get a little thrill witnessing Quinn groveling a little to win Athena back. After having dumped her because the relationship was getting too hot too fast, he changes his mind after she reappears in his life. Being the better woman, she slowly but surely allows him back in her life.

The suspense part is developed well enough for us to get to the know the villain. I only wish I had a better sense of what drive his dysfunction. . I would've appreciated a little more background on the bad guy. I think there could be a lot more to explore about this guy.

IN A NUTSHELL:
Good guys. Bad guys. And lots of suspense and sexual tension. Yup, right up a Red Stone Security alley.

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

4 Stars Sweet, Sexy and Intriguing

This was my first read in this series and by this author and I really enjoyed it. The story was fast paced and yet fairly low on angst and drama. I would consider this an easy read:)

I really loved the H but the h was just ok for me. I truly HATE, and I mean despise when an author has the h describing her past self in a not so great fashion. I don't want to read about my h feeling "down" about herself and describing her chubby self in high school. Nope, call me vain, call me snotty, call me harsh BUT I am not into anything with BBW and when a character starts talking down about herself and describing herself and that description is less than appealing for me personally I find it a turn-off and I just can't get negative visions out of my head. I know, I know I sound harsh BUT that's me and I read for escaping reality and yes in my reality I want to have good looking to hot characters in my story and most especially in my head. Sorry for the rant!!!!!!

PS Athena in the book at present is NOT a BBW woman BUT I hated hearing talking about herself being chubby in HS:( Listen, just because I don't want to read about BBW woman in my romances doesn't mean everyone feels the same and I apologize for any offense as I do not mean to hurt anyone but these are my honest feelings, lol. I only and I mean, ONLY feel this way in my storylines for lack of a better word, heck my sis who is my bestie is heavy and beautiful, inside and out, even she knows that when I read I want a pretty picture painted in my head with my h's....I don't care or need the h to be perfect BUT I have preferences as well.

All in all, I enjoyed this and will definitely check out another book by this author in the future.

The story´s premise was interesting. Not original but interesting and I was really loving the MC´s. They are sincere and they talk to each other so there is no room for misunderstandings. Well, except when the author needs some tension in the couple and resorts to one... But the least I have liked is the execution. For me it has been hard to believe. Everything surrounding the baddie was overly convenient and how the suspense it´s solved was unrealistic... that can´t happen in real life. It sounded faked and rushed. The story has not been so good although the beginning was promising...

I've always enjoyed the romance trope where the hero rescues the heroine from something. It's just always been a trope I've enjoyed. Anyway, for awhile I had a lot of stress going on in my life, and I was just craving books with this trope. Something about someone taking care of the heroine appealed to me right then, because I had so much stuff on my plate. ANYWAY, so I did some googling, and Katie Reus's Red Stone Security series kept popping up. So I decided to give some a try, and they were exactly what I needed. Anyway, onto the review.

Quinn Brody (can I just say how weird it is for me to read about a hero named Quinn) works for Red Stone Security. Quinn is pretty swoony. Athena is awesome, too.ÌýAthena and Quinn went on a few dates not too long ago, but when Quinn discovered that she was a virgin, he sort of freaked out, and backed off. Except, of course, he can't stop thinking of her, and he regrets it.

So, Athena has a new job, and guess where it is? At Red Stone Security! She didn't realize that was were Quinn worked, and when she attends a get together with other people from the company, who is also there? None other than Quinn! Quinn realizes that he has a second chance with her. Even though Athena is hesitant this time around, neither can really resist each other. And then an enemy from Quinn's past shows up, and suddenly Athena is in danger. And Quinn is determined to protect her.

I was definitely shipping for Athena and Quinn. It was clear they had some serious chemistry, but there was more there, too. The mystery/suspense aspect wasn't hard to guess, but that's not really the point. Sworn to Protect got me seriously addicted to Katie Reus.

Ìý

After gobbling up Sworn to Protect, I couldn't wait to read more by Katie Reus, and my next book was Danger Next Door, which is an earlier book in the Red Stone Security series. Anyway, I really liked this one, even a bit more that Sworn to Protect.

Belle moves into a new home, which just so happens to be next door to the hero of our story, Grant Caldwell. Grant was a police officer, but he was in a bad explosion while on the job, and he was left with some serious scares. Grant isn't dealing too well with this, but he has healed mostly. His brothers want him to join Red Stone Security, but he isn't quite sure yet. When Belle's acquaintance gets a little too pushy with her, Grant hears it and comes over to help. And soon Belle and Grant are getting to know each other. And then, DANGER happens, when some masked man keeps trying to hurt Belle. Naturally, Grant wants to protect her. This just makes me swoon.

Anyway, I loved Belle and Grant so much. Belle is sweet and kind, and she's determined to get some independence from her loving, but overprotective family. She's so excited to be on her own, and she is incredibly attracted to Grant.

And Grant! He's incredibly swoony, and protective and an all-around nice guy. He's still struggling with some things since the explosion, but he's not nasty at all. He's a bit self-conscious of his appearance, but when he realizes that Belle needs some protecting, he gets over it real quick. I just loved these two together.

Again some of the suspense/mystery didn't always make the most sense logically, but I seriously didn't care. Danger Next Door is my favorite Katie Reus book.

Book 11 of the Red Stone Security series gives us Quinn and Athena's story. Quinn Brody is a former cop who stepped up to help an abused woman break free of her abusive husband, Quinn's boss. Now, years later having left law enforcement, Quinn works for Red Stone Security. At a company BBQ Quinn sees Athena, a new Red Stone employee and the woman he dated briefly months ago but hasn't been able to stop thinking about.

Realizing ending things with Athena was a mistake, Quinn is determined to make it right and earn a second chance with her. Athena has not forgotten Quinn either but his leaving so abruptly had hurt her badly. But as Quinn works hard to win Athena back, someone from his past returns seeking revenge and he'll do whatever it takes to get back at Quinn, including targeting anyone special to him.

Can Quinn identify and stop the evil from his past and keep Athena safe? Or will he lose the person most important to him, just as he's trying to get her back?

The Red Stone Security series is truly one of my favorites and a go-to re-read. And, it's always fun when Katie lets us visit with characters from prior books in the series.

Sworn to Protect is a highly recommended romantic suspense. While deep in the series, this book can be read as a stand-alone.

I love coming back to this world. It’s like reading a new chapter of the old book every time I re-enter the Red Stone Security series (in fact I feel this way every time I read any of Katie Reus series). In this instance it was Athena’s sweet yet leveled head that made me like it. She fell for Quinn but when he left her because he didn’t want to think about committing to a virgin, she decided to just get on with her life, regardless of how much her ego, pride, and heart were hurt in the process. On the other hand, although Quinn made sound like a jerk, he was just a man being a man with commitment issues but then throughout the story he shows Athena the he could be a more responsible mature man. Unfortunately, a threat from Quinn’s past shows up and overshadows their happiness. Reus writing flows from page to page and before I knew it (and as much as I didn’t want it to) the book was over. Hopefully it won’t be too long before the new full novel in the series is out because I will definitely continue reading the series.

Quinn broke up with Athena when things got too serious, but months later he still haven´t forgotten her, and when fate puts them back together, he takes that chance.
Athena can´t believe it when her new job comes with a co-worker she thought she´d never see again - Quinn. When Quinn´s past threatens her, though, he comes to the rescue with guns blazing - metaphorically speaking. Can she trust him with her heart a second time?
Contemporary romance, suspense, action and smutty fluff in a great combo.

The Red Stone Security Series is a great RS series that always has romance, suspense and characters you like. You can easily read them as stand alone books. I enjoyed both Quinn and Athena and I loved that Athena made Quinn work a bit to get back into her life after he broke up with her when he found out she was still a virgin. This was a fast read and enjoyable. This series is always a hit to me.

Not bad, but I didn’t really like Athena. I didn’t get why she caved to Quinn so easily. I didn’t particularly care for Quinn either- he was pretty much the same as every other hero in this series.

The romance, therefore, was lackluster to me. The suspense, surprisingly, was done decently. It felt reasonable that Glenn was able to get to Athena, and I liked that the suspense wasn’t centered around the heroine being stalked.

Overall, though, since the romance was a no-go for me, I can’t say I enjoyed this one much.

REVIEW: 4.5 stars--SWORN TO PROTECT is the 11th installment in Katie Reus’s adult, contemporary Red Stone Security romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for RSS. This is Red Stone Security’s Quinn Brody, and their newest employee Athena Manikas storyline. All of Katie’s Red Stone Security installments can be read as stand alones without any difficulty. Some of the previous storyline characters appear in secondary and supporting roles: there is also a cross over with Katie’s Serafina: Sin City series- a spin off from her RSS series.

Told from several third person perspectives SWORN TO PROTECT follows the rekindling of a relationship between Athena and Quinn. Two months earlier, Quinn ended his romance with Athena following her declaration that she was a virgin and in the ensuing time Quinn has been unable to forget the woman who stole his heart. Discovering Athena was now working for Red Stone Security as their director of marketing, Quinn begins a slow seduction of the woman he pushed away. A threat directed at both Quinn and Athena finds our hero as both protector and would be lover, when someone from Quinn’s past intends to destroy everyone that he loves. A business trip to Vegas allows Quinn the opportunity to get up close and personal under the pretense of protecting the woman with whom he is falling in love.

The relationship between Quinn and Athena is one of second chances but Athena is afraid to have her heart broken –again. What ensues is the rebuilding of trust before Athena allows Quinn to claim her as his own. The $ex scenes are seductive and a little bit steamy.

Several of the Red Stone Security agents and their significant others play a supporting role throughout the storyline, as well as the Serafina’s security specialist Iris Christiansen. We are introduced to Athena’s assistant Raegan, with a possible romance blossoming with one of two potential suitors. The requisite evil comes in the form of an ex con with a grudge against Quinn Brody.

SWORN TO PROTECT is a quick read; a fast paced, second chance romance with a little bit of suspense. There is an insta-love quality to the storyline but our couple has a previous history so the fast build up is to be expected. Katie Reus’s Red Stone Security series is always a ‘go to read every time. I have never been disappointed with Katie’s storylines-there is always something that draws me in like a moth to a flame. Her characters are charismatic and colorful; the storylines engaging and enjoyable; the love and happily ever afters fated.

What do you do when you discover you will be working with your Ex at your new job?? For Athena - working at Red Stone Security brings her back to the man that stirs her blood..Quinn. The two are certainly no strangers. In fact, Athena and Quinn were becoming quite serious until she dropped the fact that she still had her v-card. Quinn ended things between them right then and there and the two have not spoken until this moment.

The last thing Athena expected was for Quinn to speak with her at a party thrown in her honor. To make things quite a bit confusing, Quinn asks Athena if they can start over. After having her heart broken, Athena recommends the two just keep things on a friendship level. That was easier said than done. Especially when danger come knocking in the form of a threat from Quinn’s past.

As Athena tries to throw herself into work, the duo find themselves throw together by circumstance. Quinn is determined to keep Athena safe at all costs. Something that draws them towards one another. Will the danger threatening their lives hamper any future the two may have???

Sworn to Protect is another great addition to the Red Stone Security series. It was definitely a quick read that leaves you anticipating the future for Quinn and Athena. There was a tad bit of suspense rolled into the story that certainly adds to the anticipation for the characters future together. Katie always has a way of showcasing a hot alpha male in the Red Stone series that leaves you coming back for more!

REVIEW
Sworn to Protect is the next book in the fantastic Red Stone Security series.
In this one we have Quinn Brody who has finally fallen for a woman. Athena is a friend of some of the other wives of the security team and Quinn took a shine to her right from the start. They dated for a few months but then he abruptly stops seeing her. Quinn has a change of heart and wants Athena but she doesn’t want him. He hurt her.
When things go down hill and Athena’s life is in danger Quinn will do whatever it takes to save her life and win her heart. But will he be too late for both?

Another wonderful suspense filled story by Katie Reus. I loved the action we get in this one and the chemistry between Athena and Quinn is off the charts.

You know you got an alpha male.on your hands when he gets all Neanderthal on you after pleasing his woman, "and felt like a fucking caveman, all proud he’d made her climax." I liked seeing Quinn's reaction to his woman touching him, "but she wasn’t looking into his eyes, she was watching herself stroke him, as if mesmerized. It was effing hot." Athena knows how to stop her man in his tracks, "I’m on the Pill, she blurted the instant before his mouth would have descended on hers. His big body went impossibly still, his nostrils flaring ever so slightly as he looked at her." I enjoy this serious I love seeing these men all wound up and alpha over their women.

This one was ok for me. I had a hard time getting why Athena was so smitten with Quinn as he kept pushing her away. I did love how this one opened, actually wanted more of Quinn helping abused women. Loved how Athena stood up to a creep, throwing him off. It was just the two of them together that was a bit boring for me.

I liked that H had already regretted his fool decision at the beginning of this book rather than let us went through his struggle to be serious about a relationship.

It would better if there were more excitement though, the ending felt a little rushed.
