Doris Emily Hendrickson lives in Reno, Nevada, with her husband, a retired airline pilot. Of all the many places she has traveled around the world, England is her favorite, and the most natural choice as the setting for her novels. In addition to her Regency romances, she has written a Regency Reference Book.

She is also the recipient of the Romantic Times award for the Best Regency of 1993 for Elizabeth's Rake and the Colorado Romance Writers 1997 Award of Excellence for The Debonair Duke. She is a nominee for the Romantic Times Career Achievement Award for Regency Romance.

Emily also enjoys stamps and stamping, and several of her flower designs, originally created for bookmarks for her Regencies, have been made into stamps.

Many of my books were re-published in England by Robert Hale Publishing House of London. My publisher requested that I use three pseudonyms for my English hard cover books. I chose the names: Emily Hendrickson, Emily Johnson, and Emily Harland.

This was a very sweet novel with subtle characters who are easily likable.
Hugh and Tabitha are the leads who are engaged to Susan and Sam but shortly realise they have made wrong choices and that they both are in love with each other. What follows is how they come out of their respective engagements and unite with each other.
I really like Emily Hendrickson's writing, she has a good knowledge of regency Era and her narration was very good. The entire story progresses at a good pace and never was it a drag. The secondary characters were also very interesting and well described.
Looking forward to reading more books by this author.

There is something so delightful and relaxing about a Regency romance. Maybe it's the manners, so very proper, at least on the outside, that soothes my temperament. Whatever it is, I needed a familiar read, so I reached for a Regency to fit the bill.

TABITHA'S TANGLE afforded me the luxury of sinking back in time of grace and romantic entanglements. While the little bit of mystery is obvious, the courtship between Tabitha and Hugh is sweet enough to make up for it. The two leads are absolutely charming and I enjoyed every moment of their struggle do what is right and still get what they want. While at times I thought the pacing slow, mainly it was due to my impatience rearing its head. A lovely way to pass a few hours with.

"Tabitha's Tangle" by Emily Hendrickson 2004
Tabitha Herbert is the rector's daughter. She has been asked by Lord (Hugh) Latham, a baron, to help catalogue a collection of new books he has purchased and to organize his library. Everyone sees only a very proper and plain miss but Tabitha has a heart of a romantic.
Everyone and Lord Latham believes that he will be marrying Lady Susan, an Earl's daughter but........
I was going to say more but I fear it would ruin the story for you. This like her other books is delightful! I love the cover. Happy Reading! ReadingGenie

Surprisingly, this very traditional Regency was written in 2004. I also didn't realize it was 4th in a series. Oh well I will read the other 3 sisters stories eventually.

Though this is a recent publication, it's more of a traditional Regency than most modern Regencies. I couldn't resist reading it because it's about a librarian! Tabitha Herbert, a country Rector's daughter, is thrilled with Hugh, Lord Latham, asks her to catalog his new library. The position comes with many attractions: the books, the house, the beautiful grounds . . . and the handsome employer! Tabitha and Hugh quickly become friends and then fall in love. Numerous obstacles stand in their way, namely the beautiful, yet spoiled and selfish Lady Susan who wants Hugh for herself! What follows is the usual predictable plot with amusing secondary characters. I disliked some of the romance in the beginning. It was too unrealistic and happened too quickly. This book is part of a series about the Herbert family, but it can be read alone. I found most of the last chapter stupid and random because I hadn't read any of the other books. I would have preferred more romance at the end of the novel! There is also an author's note about mute swans. The writing doesn't come close to Georgette Heyer or Jane Austen but overall, I enjoyed the book.

Overall, I liked this book very much. It took longer to adjust to the author's style than I expected, and I was not overly fond of her word choices at times, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and grew to care about the characters. By the last half of the book, I was anxious to see how the events would unfold and was not disappointed.

While I found the first chapter questionable and of poor writing, it smoothed out and became quite an entertaining story.
