Color me impressed with this trilogy.
While this novel did take more of a serious tone with the parts of Alicia’s past, the faiths shown and grown in this book were wonderful. It felt a bit slow in the start, but by half-way I was all in! I can’t tell y’all how much I enjoyed all the faith & Spiritual content. :)

Out of the three books in The Pinecraft Pie Shop series , Sewn With Joy turned out to be my favorite. In fact it is the best book I've read so far this year. The covers on all three books were colorful and eye catching, which to me is very important. Each book was about one of the daughters in the Miller family.
The titles of the books were cleverly made to include the daughter's name that was the main character in that book. Made with love was about Lovina Miller . Planted With Hope introduced readers to Hope Miller. And then in book three Sewn With Joy, readers get to know Joy Miller. There were two other daughters in the Miller family. Grace and Faith.
Book three was definitely different than the other two books. At the start of the book Joy was already courting Matthew Slagel, the Bishop's son. The story was more about spiritual things and matters of the heart. A television group of actors and crew members come to town to put a weekly show together and get it ready to air to the public. Not meaning to Joy gets herself involved with the production of it. Matthew is against this but Joy finds herself getting deeper and deeper involved in helping the director and the actors make the show seem more realistic.
Her family is in need of money for her father's medical expenses. The extra money helps to pay some of his expenses. But when faced with losing Matthew or leaving the show she feels led by God to stay on and have Bible studies with the cast and crew members. What should she do? Stay with the show and share the gospel with her coworkers and run the risk of losing Matthew or leave the show and go back to her normal Amish life.
This book had the Ability to bring this reader to tears. The story was very real to me. I strongly recommend it to all readers of Amish Fiction. If you've read the other two books of this series do not miss this one.
I was fortunate enough to have won Sewn With Joy in a giveaway given by the authors in 2016. I just now got to read it and review it. I have been truthful on how I feel about the book. I was not asked to review the book but was more than happy to do so since I enjoyed it so much.

I enjoyed reading this book. This was a nice way to end the series. The main character, Joy, was likable. She is a quilter and works in a fabric store. The story also involves Matthew and Alicia. I liked Matthew from the start, but it took a while for me to like Alicia. I was disappointed that her, Joy's, sisters weren't involved more in this story. Also, I thought the story was interesting, and I liked the ending, but I thought it would end differently. The thing I liked best about this book was the setting, which was Sarasota, FL.

Another awesome book my Tricia Goyer! This is the third book in the series Pinecraft Pie Shop and can be read as a stand alone book. I love the recipes that are included in the book and the Amish Proverbs.

SEWN WITH JOY is the third book in this series. Filled with yummy recipes, Amish quotes, and sewing tips, it is so much more than a simple story. The faith message is also strong and powerful.

Joy is sweet, peaceful, and appropriately named. Matthew is judgmental, angry, and he made me furious. Why would Joy want to marry a man like that? A man whose father is like that? I dated a guy like Matthew for awhile, but I wasn't good enough for their oh-so-perfect Southern Baptist family. Never mind that they made up and believed lies. I was so hoping Matthew wasn't the hero and that Joy would find a man like the one I married.

Rowan I loved. He made some mistakes and was cautious but he was so sweet. I also loved Will and Abraham for speaking truth in someone's life.

The book was slow and easily put down, which was just what I needed as I was under a tight deadline at my job and had very little time to read. The ending and the faith message was outstanding.

I got a copy free. All opinions are my own.

This story was much deeper in character than the other two books of the series. I will have to say I was a little surprised by mentions of divorce, suicide and abortion. Unlike the others, I don’t think this is appropriate for someone like my preteen daughter just because of that content.
But WOW! The spiritual depth of this one was so much more. At first I was a little nervous about the comparisons being brought up between the Amish and the Englisch and how they portrayed Hollywood actors as being the outsiders coming in. But I really enjoyed the witness and friendships that developed throughout the book.

Even though this is the third book in the series, I started with this one. I was always curious if starting out of order would ruin anything about the reading experience. In this case, I didn't feel like I was missing anything.

Even though I have been visiting Amish communities for over 25 years and having read many books about Amish practices and customs, I still learned quite a few new tidbits of information from this book.

I enjoyed the pace and the unusual subject of this Amish fictional book. Think I will go back and read the first two books in the series now.

I really enjoyed this series. I love the different recipes that are included too. A couple of diffucult topics were discussed in the book, including abortion and suicide. They were treated in a loving manner but may be difficult to read if someone has had an experience with either of those.

Sewn With Joy by Tricia Goyer and Sherry Gore is an Amish romance. It is book three in the Pinecraft Pie shop series but can be read as a stand-alone. I absolutely loved it. I love every book that I have ever read by Tricia Goyer. She not only writes cracking stories and her books also honour God.
Sewn With Joy is an amazing story with so many godly themes. There is the desperate search for God. "You have nothing if you don't have God." So many people do not realise that they need God. They try to fill the hole inside them with many things - alcohol, parties, food - when all they really need is God. "You get to know God better when you cling to Him." Often it is when you hit rock bottom that you realise that God is all you really need. "When I had nowhere else to turn, I had God."
The need for God continues in the theme of telling people about God. "How will they hear if we do not go to them?" As Christians we carry the Good News of Jesus. We need to spread this Good News. Lost and hurting people will always need to hear about Jesus.
The novel shows the need to be open and honest with God. He knows all about us anyway. "To think about Him means I know He is thinking about me." God is always thinking about us. He loved us so much that He sent His Son to die for us. No matter what you've done or where you've been, God loves you and longs for you to come home to Him. As Corrie ten Boom said "there is no pit that God's love is not deeper still."
Sewn With Joy explains the need to be obedient to God. We need to follow Him and listen to Him not man. God's ways are always so much greater than ours.
Appearances matter. Is it more important to look good? Or be good? God looks at our hearts. Man seems more concerned with our outward appearance. "It was possible to be beautiful on the outside but filled with darkness and despair within." This pain and hurt needs to be laid at the feet of Jesus. Only by doing this can we experience freedom.
The Amish and Englisch worlds collide in the novel. Reputations seem to be put above people. "Don't trust the words of others over the word of God." Some of the Amish forget that God is in the business of relationship and restoration and not reputation. It is important to show God's love to all people.
The novel deals with the theme of family. There is the literal family and the wider family of God.
Friendship is an important theme. Alicia has never had a true friend. Only when she meets a young Amish woman will she know what true friendship is. Age is no boundary to friendship. Joy and Elizabeth are sixty years apart in age but are good friends. True friends are those who love you enough to both tell you the truth and pray for you.
I absolutely loved Sewn With Joy. It just spoke to my heart. There are some wonderful one liners - Elizabeth "didn't call them wrinkles - she called them smile lines." The presence of God permeated the novel. Tricia Goyer and Sherry Gore present the reader with many God truths. Within the story questions are asked that will force the reader to look at their own journey of faith.
Sewn With Joy is Amish fiction at its finest.
For fans of Amish food, there are recipes dotted throughout.
A totally wonderful novel.

I received this book for free in exchange for a fair and honest review. No monetary compensation was received and all views expressed are my own.

I adore this series and I sure hope that there are more novels to come because there are still two Miller sisters who need to have their stories told. No worries if you haven't read the first two books in The Pinecraft Pie Shop series -- this reads well as a standalone though, of course, there are carry over characters that I was thrilled to get reacquainted with. Like seventy-year old quilt shop owner, Elizabeth who contributes snippets of simple wisdom that rocked my world. Like this: "If God brings me a person who needs a taste of God's Word, I'm not going to send them away hungry." (p 210) She's such a source of strength to Joy as her carefully ordered world spins out of control in unexpected ways.

Life is good for Joy. She's working at a job she loves, enjoying the excitement of the pending weddings of her two sisters, and it looks like she will be following in their footsteps as her courtship with the Bishop's son progresses. Joy knows exactly what each day will bring...until the film crew rolls into town and she somehow ends up in the middle of a hotly debated controversy among the close-knit Pinecraft Amish community.

What follows is a captivating look at community, the intricacies of human nature and how living ones faith affects it all. This story is chock-full of inspirational wisdom -- so many great quotes that I had to stop reading and take notes. Like when Joy tells Englischer friends, "God's Word is often called a light, and sometimes when light shines into places that have been dark awhile, it's hard to face what's hidden there." (p.217)

A delectable companion to Made With Love and Planted With Hope and like the first two books, this one includes some authentic Amish recipes interspersed throughout the story.

I've always been intrigued with he Amish way of life. Some people see their life as easy, free of technology, social media and drama. In my eyes, I see the Amish world as a simple world, but a hard world as well. Their lifestyle is anything but easy, the don't use " gadgets" to make their life easier, they work hard and love hard.
In the book Sewn with Joy, you will find love, dedication, sorrow, pain, and most of all God.
The book tells the story of Joy, a young Amish woman who loves her family, her community and above all else, God. It is her love of God that keeps her from getting to close the the English people who are in town to film a show about the Amish life.
In the book, she is shown the different ways to love God and to share His love with those who are in need. Joy is a wonderful, warm character that will melt the reader's heart. In her search to do the right thing, to follow God's path, she loses someone close to heart and this brings Joy to question all she believes in. Follow Joy and her family and friends as she seeks out His love and direction.

This is a tender story that will capture you from the beginning and leave you with an overwhelming sense of love.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my fair and honest review.

My Review for Sewn with Joy

Sewn with Joy is Book #3 in the Pinecraft Pie Shop series by Tricia Goyer and Sherry Gore.
It is Christian Amish fiction in a contemporary setting.

Joy is a solid Amish woman who was sure she had found her "one true love"
and plots her future, thinking everything has been mapped out.
One night changes everything.
What will happen when a TV crew of Englishers show up in the little Amish community of Pinecraft, Florida?
Can sewing teach her a lesson of God's love?

The characters were so easy to relate to.
Elizabeth, the elderly lady who owns the Fabric and Quilt Shop, gave advice in some unusual ways.
Abraham didn't sugar-coat anything for his pal.
Matthew .... I wanted to whack him on the head a few times... luckily, he figured out what was important in the end.
The actresses and crew were forever changed by one woman's determination to spread God's love.

A couple favorite quotes:
A person needed strength when they're weak.
And when one was weak, it's hard to be joyful.
It's almost impossible to make yourself joyful when everything was going wrong....
but could God make that possible?

"Lord, I know I need joy
But at the moment, joy seems far away.
I know joy comes You, though,
so please give me what I cannot give myself.
Amen."

Joy
page 262

"Have you ever thought that with all of the bad happenings in the world,
viewers simply want to be reminded that good still exists & that people can live simply, godly lives?
Maybe it's ok to share hope, to share joy with people who are tired of all of reports of
shootings and kidnappings and war."

Joy to Matthew
page 256

I was sad to leave Pinecraft once more.

I love books by Tricia and Sherry.
If they ever write another book in Pinecraft,
it'll get into my hands!

Two worlds in collision - one is the proper Amish one, one is the wild following of God. Joy is to decide - to live the proper, rule-obiding life, or will she serve her neighbours?

The best in the series yet!
The conflict is real, the pain is real. And it is an interesting, catchy read!

The TV crowd comes to Pinecraft to shot the TV series about the Amish. And the Amish people are not happy about the supposed profanity and usage of the Amish environment.
Joy Miller would normally agree and be cautious, but her Dat is seriously ill and the treatment is expensive. So when the director offers her a job, she agrees. This is the answer to their prayers! But her boyfriend strongly disagrees - after all, he is the bishop's son and it is expected of him to be the proper one.
The main actress Alicia is hurting inside. She made serious mistakes and her marriage with Rowan, the series director, is broken. Her soul needs healing.
And Joy registers the thirst for God. But to be with the Englischers means she will go against her people, against Matt!
Will they all find God?

Read this. This is a strong book. Yes, there is a gentle push towards the morale of the story, but the morale is so good! The message is deep and the characters are very relatable.
I might be slightly annoyed with Matt, but there is a growth in him at the end. And Elizabeth saves the day, as always. I seriously like this wise, old lady. I need her in my life.

"Sewn with Joy" is the third book of the Pinecraft Pie Shop Series. Although part of the series, the book can easily be read as a stand alone and the reader won't feel like they're missing out on anything.

The main character, Joy Miller is a very likeable person. She's sweet and humble and tries her best to do what is right. Her beau, Matthew Slagel, is a person that seems likeable enough, but he had a side to him I didn't care for - the human side that has a temper and cares too much for what others think and say.

"Sewn with Joy" deals with many issues and had a fantastic message behind it - not just a sappy Amish romance. I'm not sure if an Amish woman would have handled things the way Joy did, but I will say it made for a great story with lots of lessons about God, Christianity, forgiveness, love, and redemption.

Some of the topics brought up were real but may be triggers for some, including suicide, abortion, and infidelity. The issues were handled well and the message was fantastic! This is a book that focuses a lot on God's forgiveness and coming to Christ.

"Sewn with Joy" is a great book that will inspire you to possibly get back into the Word and to remember what sacrifices were made on the Cross. An excellent book with a message for all!

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley. I was not required to post a positive review - but one of my honest opinion.

The third book in this trilogy is about the third of five Amish sisters, Joy, whose talent is sewing and quilting. She is in love with the bishop's son, and it looks like her wedding may soon be published. Yet, when a movie crew comes to town to film a new TV drama about the Amish, Joy is asked to sew Amish dresses for the female cast. Going against her community's rules about associating with the Englisch (non-Amish), Joy agrees to sew the dresses. The bishop - and his son - are not happy. Although Joy wants to follow the rules of the community, she believes in her heart that God wants her to help the film crew even more, and to share God with them. And that leaves her with a dilemma because she is forced to choose between following her love and marrying the bishop's son or following God's leading and losing her future.

The character of Joy was so real that she inspired me, the reader, to be more like her - and listen for what God is leading me to do. The story was absolutely wonderful, and the spiritual lessons in the book were truly heavenly.

How could I not like a book that has a couple paragraphs about how sewing enhances one's character? I purchased this book for a quarter and it was a delightful read with a lot of Amish wisdom and recipes.
A few favorite quotes were as follows: "Instead of putting others in their place, put yourself in their place," page 139. Talking about gossip magazines, from the same page, "I'm not sure why folks pay good money to read bad news. I just know it hurts plenty when it's you everyone's wagging their tongues about....". Page 222, "With God, nothing goes to waste. Every experience-good or bad-contributes to our lives. Sometimes we don't understand why things happen the way they do, but when all the scraps are stitched together they become a beautiful mosaic." Page 223, "Taking old scraps, piecing them together. Making something new, something useful, something beautiful. I like to think that's what God does with all our lives...He sees beauty in things we thought were just scraps, and He pieces them together in ways we can't imagine."

I really enjoy this series and how the author intricately weaves the plots together throughout the books. Each of the Miller sisters have unique personalities with unique gifts and interests that are used to change the lives of others in this small community. This is the third book in the series but each can be read independently. I am excited and hopeful that the author will continue this series by writing the stories of the last two sisters.

This book has a very important message. It seemed that Joy was doing something displeasing to her Amish community by interacting with the people from the TV show. However, God was using her in their lives to draw them closer to their Savior. Praise God! The Lord doesn't always use the same methods in which to draw people to Him. We need to be willing to serve Him in whatever way He wants, even if it is uncomfortable for us. Very well done!

This is the best in the series so far. I really enjoyed this unexpected twist with the "English" and how Joy came into her own choosing to follow the Lord even though it wasn't the popular choice in this instance. So thankful that the Lord loves us all and wants us to show love to everyone. This book reminding us that ministers are just people and that we must always test their words with the Bible to see if it lines up with what the Lord desires for us.

Loved this third installment in the series, and I really hope the author keeps it going. It's Amish fiction set near where I grew up, so pretty much right up my alley. It's a sweet story, though sometimes I found myself thinking that a lot of the drama could be avoided if the characters would just *talk* to each other--but then we wouldn't have a plot, right?

I loved the third book in this series. They have all been unique in their own way! But there is still another daughter younger than the three in this series so far. Hoping for more than a trilogy here.
Matthew is the Bishops son is he able to go against his wishes to court her beloved? Read and see what happens in the third of this wonderfully sweet story not without it's ups and downs.

This is my least favorite couple in the series. Matthew is SO not ready to be a husband. His anger was so sudden and so fierce that it frightened her, but then she forgets about it and we should too. You'd think that a man who waited so long to choose a spouse might be a bit more stable. Joy could do better.

I so hope Tricia & Sherry write stories about Faith & Grace soon! Another wonderful story in The Pinecraft Pie Shop series. I loved how Joy chose to follow where God was leading her, in spite of what she could loose. Her friend, Elizabeth, made it a point to help her to see that even Englischers needed to be told about God and what He does for us.
